Please do one looking at Pyrrols in many colors - what the heck is a pyrrol & what does it do in all the various colors? Is it like quinacridone? I probably should check again if you’ve already done this topic & I missed it but don’t think so!

Love Potters Pink, such a fascinating colour. I use Schmincke, and it's my convenience colour for skin tones. A lot of people don't like granulating colours for skin tones, but I think this is an exception because the granulation comes out pink, no? I just dilute it, or mix with a little Turner's yellow or Permanent Chinese white. Also love to mix it with Turquoise and with Dark Blue (like indigo), I was curious about Potters Pink for a while and I've ended up using it more than I thought I would.
And you're right - these differences are really subtle. I kind of prefer the Roman Szmal and the Della Magna, but I think that's just because they look the most like the Schmincke. :)

@phillipstroll7385 I would love to teach to children! You are making one of my points, that education is not just meant to provide youth a profession, but to make them better humans. This is a completely overrated aspect of education. Most people here in Italy, for instance, say that Latin and Greek (which I studied in middle and high school) are totally useless, it would be better to learn a contemporary language. I think that humanities subjects are so important to bring light to our lives. So well done Phillip!

I really like these paint comparisons! They are so soothing to watch and so informative. That is the kind of sketch, Elisabetta, I want to be able to paint some day. :) Especially that tree. I am going to watch the painting of the tree a few times and practice with it. In my mind I am painting all the time, now just to start doing it more on paper. Since my husband and I moved to a new state here in the US, the bay window we have in the back of the house reveals gorgeous beginnings of sunrises. I am often astonished at the different colors and the intensities of those colors! Intermingled are many trees in the back yard which give a black outline to the colors in the really early AM hours. I saw the most pale pink the other morning! I want to get some Potter's Pink one day, but was only just able to get DS Aussie Red Gold this past Christmas and I had been waiting for that for some time. At almost $14 a tube US dollars, (I wanted the big tube :) I have to wait and acquire slowly. I wonder how Potter's Pink and DS Minnesota Pipestone compare? And, yes, I agree with others in the comments that the yellow ochre is quite beautiful that you used here.

Wow Marg, thank you for this long message!! I also have a lovely view from my house but I envy your bay window, I always wanted one….I do not know the Minnesota Pipestone, so I had a look online. They actually look quite similar, maybe the Minnesota Pipestone is more brownish…what a fascinating color. I LOVE Aussie Red Gold!! The tree is super easy to sketch: start with Yellow Ochre, than darken thr shadow side with Sepia or any brown with a touch of blue… Have a lovely weekend!

@@WatercolorElisabetta Thanks Elisabetta! I will follow your instructions for the tree and will practice trees in my sketch book. I think you are right, the Minnesota Pipestone is more brownish and really deepens the pink part. How do you use Aussie Red Gold? I am planning on using it in my practicing of doing sunsets. To get more familiar with the paints, I also just like to put them together abstractly on the paper and see what results. I would like to see you paint a sketch of the view from your house and tell how and why what colors you chose to do so. I was able to get to Europe with my husband at the end of 2018; I've been there once in my lifetime. We made it just in time before the pandemic started (of course, we didn't know that was going to happen). We were in Rome. My husband got to see a few more things then me because I was suffering from bad knees. I did get to see the Vatican. Rome is gorgeous! It was a whirlwind trip to about 20 countries in one month! I don't know how I survived it with my knees so bad, but I did. We went with a group of 40 people and we didn't know any of them. Our tour guide was great and I forever thankful to God for providing someone like her. Her name was Patricia and she was from France. I know my comments are often long--not always. But I love to write and am used to doing so. Thanks for taking the time to read my long replies. :)

Hi Elizabetta, I am curious about Potter's Pinks, so I was glad to see your exploration of different brands. I only have 2 Potter's Pinks, one is Kuretake - from their Art Nouveau set and one Roman Szmals which was a palette I picked myself, I especially like the Roman Szmals one which granulates beautifully with lovely patterning, and is easy to re-wet. The Art Nouveau Kuretake Potter's Pink is an okay colour but doesn't look anything like as interesting as the Roman Szmals one. I have only recently bought some tiny tubes of Schmincke super granulating colours but Potter's Pink wasn't one of them. And until more money arrives and I forget the sting of the Schmincke prices somewhat, I must be careful what I buy.
I'd LIKE some Daniel Smith paints but those prices are even worse, so until I win a really big lottery... I'm trying to forget they exist.
I loved seeing you use a Potter's Pink with other colours in a sketch, but you don't say which one you used.
I saw a tube of Winsor & Newton on your table at the start of the sketch but you used only colour from a palette of half pans... and didn't say what brand they were. So I don't know which one you used. Could you tell me?
It would also be most helpful if you could say what price the different brands were? (I'm in the UK) And some paints are hard to buy here, and some of the brands you tested I'd not heard of, like Maimeri and Michael Harding. I was glad to hear you mention Jackson's though, since I buy paints from them all the time.
Thank you for this video, apart from the music I enjoyed it thoroughly, it was very interesting.

Hi! Wow, let’s try and answer your questions. As I said in the beginning, I currently use Schminke, therefore it was Schminke that I used in the sketch because it’s the one in my palette, that as I said contains different brands. About the prices, I have mainly bought these paints during sales or special offers, in different moments and different stores.. You can find the links to each paint on Jackson’s in the description box, so you can check current prices. At the end of the video, when I comment the sketch, I mentioned the colours I used for the mixes. I hoped I answered your questions. I love that particular music background therefore I’m afraid I will use it again in future 😨…. Take care, Elisabetta
