I'm super thankful for my cushy life as an American. I've willingly exposed myself to a lot more hardships than most people from the west so I've gotten a bit of perspective on things but I can't imagine coming from this guy's world into ours. It has to be like night and day. Seeing the absolutely genuine appreciation this man has for something as simple as instant ramen really helps me put into perspective just how good we have it out here.
I hope this man's family is alright. I certainly can't blame him for fleeing when hegot the chance. I've never experienced the kind of suffering he has.
I am guessing all the north Koreans have to do what they need to do to survive.only if they feed thier people escaping north Koreans would happen.but this guy is enjoying basic food he never had before.
Most of us can only imagine what you've been through. My prayers go out to you and your family. Something I heard recently is "If you are drowning you have to save yourself first before you can help others"
Shin Ramyun, yummy! I'm glad you left North Korea. I spent time stationed in South Korea for a year and visited North Korea a couple of times in 1992. It was definitely an experience. Comsomnidaa. Thank you.
As you begin this new chapter in your life, I want you to know that I am truly wishing you good health, wealth, security, and prosperity. This journey may have challenges, but I hope you find strength and support along the way. May the good Lord be your guiding light through every moment of your path.
Alot of North Korean defectors you bring on i can atleast see the human in them and the reactions they give seem like genuine reactions. I get a weird vibe this guy only cares about himself and nothing else.
To be fair, he did say he was actively feeling guilty about leaving his family behind and believing some of his lot in life may be [divine] punishment. Also bear in mind this guy was a high-ranking person in North Korea working in foreign affairs, so his demeanor may be very different. He also hasn't been in South Korea for very long. His apartment is very barren and he's still marveling at the culture shock. I saw the human with him talking about food initially and about having hot water.
@ I hear what you are saying 100% but on the same vein "He was a high ranking politician in North Korea" I feel bad for the brainwashing that happens but if hes a high ranking politician in North Korea he has done some horrible things. Then to also say how much you miss said place after leaving your family to die there. I have alot of sympathy for people but he was one of the people helping to create that environment to not show any remorse. Except for the remorse to go back is not ok to me.
You don’t know anything about this man or the suffering he has been through. N Korea is a giant prison, getting yourself out is nearly impossible much less trying to get an entire family out together. You think the leadership allowed him to take his family with him overseas? Be grateful for your blessings and stop judging people you know nothing about.
@jackyack7850 your being a hypocrite by not knowing my life telling me to count my blessings as if I had an easy one lol. I don't care what your scenario is being a leader in North Korea he has done horrible things. Are you dumb? Let alone after doing said horrible things he left his family to deal with the consequences if you think that's ok your scum.
@jackyack7850 your talking as if he was a civilian who escaped. You need to read more and study. He was a political leader he caused many of the problems that make that place a prison. And you feel bad for him? Then go live in North Korea please.
This guy can probably do many, many more things, some of which would absolutely blow your mind. In fact, he's probably as smart as anyone you'll ever meet. Hopefully he can find a way to use his brain in South Korea in order to find a career that allows him to make money, so that if he ever has the chance, he can help out those he left behind.
i like how he refers to south korea as "korea". understanding that nk is a bunch of bs. the people are anxious to approach him probably because he radiates a cptsd energy
There's no South or North Korea. There's just the Republic of Korea and the part of the Republic of Korea illegally occupied by the Workers' Party of Korea.

This man’s on a serious guilt trip because of Kim Jong Un. I can’t fathom the logic of how a self proclaimed true socialist country can have its leadership based on heredity.
It's dictatorship!
Easy, the ruling family are evil
I'm super thankful for my cushy life as an American. I've willingly exposed myself to a lot more hardships than most people from the west so I've gotten a bit of perspective on things but I can't imagine coming from this guy's world into ours. It has to be like night and day. Seeing the absolutely genuine appreciation this man has for something as simple as instant ramen really helps me put into perspective just how good we have it out here.
I hope this man's family is alright. I certainly can't blame him for fleeing when hegot the chance. I've never experienced the kind of suffering he has.
The man found joy in all the small things we took for granted. Hopefully, some day he can be reunited with his family.
He "studied hard" and got good grades.
*The test:* "What was the supreme leaders best golf score?"
"Correct" Answer: 18 holes on one.
🤣😆
Very humble and no BS guy. Good man. Hope him the best
The simple things!
How calmly he speaks of such a heavy guilt. His family was most likely executed for his escape which is why he feels such remorse.
I read another comment saying his family escaped before he did. I hope it is true.
Also how he speaks about such heavy things between gulps of food....
it isn't his fault that NK is ruled by the worst regime... :(
@@KatiTheButcher not true. read his interviews
@@m4x658 that's sad.
I like how he looks happy and excited when he gets his ramen
Did they starve him first 😭
Yes for full immersion
He def looks like he could gain a little weight.

Read the captions. He said he had a health check, and they told him not to eat after 10pm.
@@MrTytyjohn64 lmfaooo bro is funny as shit
Bless this man. He has so much to teach about North Korean life.
Shin Ramen is my favorite instant also!
Blessings for this man 🙏🙏
I am guessing all the north Koreans have to do what they need to do to survive.only if they feed thier people escaping north Koreans would happen.but this guy is enjoying basic food he never had before.
Thank you.
i'm not korean but i feel like korea had an amazing history more than i was amazed by ancient egypt. its beautiful that they still share one language
Damn I’ve never been this early
i feel for this man. I hope the best for him
I wish to pay him a good meal!
Shin Ramyun is the best Instant Ramen in the world.
I've tried many different brands and varieties, but nothing beats Shin Ramyun for me.
omg this guy can speak french???
This guy can probably do many, many more things, some of which would absolutely blow your mind. In fact, he's probably as smart as anyone you'll ever meet. Hopefully he can find a way to use his brain in South Korea in order to find a career that allows him to make money, so that if he ever has the chance, he can help out those he left behind.
If he was sent to Vietnam as a diplomat, then it's likely. Although, how much French is used in Vietnam these days...? 😂
I would love to see him go to France and eat some French food .
You're surprised a diplomat can speak foreign languages? Really? Don't think much of Koreans, do you? 🙄
So he left his kids behind, that's brutal
I just want to give him a hug........사랑해~!!!!!
Dude was so happy when looking at his not one, but TWO packs of ramen, we’re not so different after all brother 🥹
The survivor's guilt is strong with this one. Poor man. I hope someone is able to tell him it's not his fault soon... Not that he'll believe it.
It might be his fault, people need to stop being so self justifying.
I hope this brother will find peace. Everything we have deserves gratitude from us daily if not constantly. Hope everyone has a great day/night.
I wish I could take this guy out for dinner!
God bless this man, what hardships. I hope he can find forgiveness for himself. Much love from USA
i like how he refers to south korea as "korea". understanding that nk is a bunch of bs. the people are anxious to approach him probably because he radiates a cptsd energy
Yeah I noticed that too. South Korea is what all of the Korea landmass should strive towards
There's no South or North Korea. There's just the Republic of Korea and the part of the Republic of Korea illegally occupied by the Workers' Party of Korea.
@@blazing1793 yes sir
He seems like a chill dude. Would totally have loved to have a chat with him if it weren't for the language barrier.
ramen noodles alone in broth as the only food for a day is not very healthy
He has a bag of rice so i dont think hes only eating ramen.
It is healthier than living in North Korea.
@@craigwilliams7635 how do you know?
he wants to gain weight though
Its really eye oppening to see that hes thankful for everything he has.
Who are we to judge him. I truly wish him well. Please have protein and vegetables too.
Are you for real?! Of course we can judge him, how deplorable to leave your family to starve for your own self fulfilment. People die and sacrifice for their families every day. Search your soul for meaning
한국에서 식재료는 매우 비싸다
There are several things that I missed in this world, and that is hearing the Korean language, the customs, and, of course, the food.
It would be more believable if he actually had a NK accent...
Shin is my favorite ramen. Funny enough I discovered it in college after a heartbreaking breakup. Whenever I eat it I feel a flurry of emotions. Probably not as intense as this man, but I feel a comraderie with him seeing it is also his coping food. ❤❤❤ wish you best man. Live a long life, day by day.
Too much sodium.
