- Today, North Korean Defector Lee Chul-eun, and American Jack met, They had an interesting conversation while eating American barbecue together.
Cheol-eun had an amzing time eating American barbecue and was touched!
If you have any questions about the next food, please leave a comment!
Love seeing that guy so happy, he probably went through really much.
yes
when u live that life for so long, you become used to it
hope he goes to america for better life!
Hope he gets a sponsor to finish his schooling
In an Asian Boss interview he actually shares that he was from a higher rank family and lived pretty well but of course making his escape was very risky and life threatening.
I’m happy to see this young North Korean man enjoying some of the best BBQ America provides. Americans like myself DO NOT hate North Koreans. We pray your people are eventually freed from the oppression of your Government.
Yeah this the case for almost all people living under a repressive regime.
hopefully he have a new retrospect of the world outside of north korea and from the brainwashed that they did on him. Try all new things or even let the man travel around the world.
I wonder if the wife of neoprene compliments the BBQ. Like, who grabs their food with gloves on???😵💫
@Abbotttdesign zip it dip $&>/
AMEN
BBQ is one of the foods I genuinely believe America does best. Between all the different rubs, sauces, seasonings and styles, it can appeal to a wide range of people.
I agree. Also it's regional. Different regions have different BBQ specialties e.g. Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, all have variations.
@@jet1241 This. So you don't get content with just one way of cooking, there are the distinct disciplines with their own literal local flavor. One could spend years tracking down the different BBQ's.
If theres one thing i want to go to America for and experience the real deal its the BBQ 😩😩
American BBQ is indeed awesome, but South American BBQ, specially Brazilian, Argentinian and Uruguayan, just taste better In my opinion, proper cuts of meat kinda just need salt and the right temperature fire to taste amazing, but I understand that each culture have different opinions on it, and I respect it completely.
@Patcast You're an actual lunatic.
What I love about this is: No hate between two different countries here. They both enjoy eating the food and got along like brothers.
Well, it’s just two guys from two different countries, not all of two countries in the same room. But it is awesome that they are enjoying eating some delicious food and are two good friends. 😁
That's how it's always been! When you get the Warpigs out of the way, when the machinations of The Beast are out of mind, two people that sit together find out they are each human.
Usually it's the political leaders of each country that have hostility between each other, not the people themselves.
It's weird you go straight to "its nice there wasn't hate between to different countries".... American citizens have no reason to hate North Korean citizens... its silly
I mean, he's a defector, so probably not too married to the NK ideals.
Nothing brings people together quite like a good meal. I'm so glad this guy had the opportunity to enjoy some quality barbeque.
Real joy comes when you are able to give someone something they have never had, and watching them enjoying it. It is indeed more blessed to give than to receive.
The pure bliss on his face knowing where he is from made my heart melt wishing they could all enjoy it as much as him and more often.
Lee Chul-eun face when he gets given the best piece, will stay in my heart forever.
A good person’s soul is fed by the well-being that it can bring to others, the fact that he gave him the best first bite possible is proof of that. Really made me appreciate all the times had eating in a group with family and friends. Blessings.
This video was so wholesome.
I hope Lee Chul-eun is living a much safer and happier life now, and I'm glad he enjoyed the BBQ!! ❤❤
So nice to see an American share with a North Korean our favorite foods, and with the grace to show we're not monsters and indeed want peace and friendship with them.
Jack is definitely a student of the culture, feeding pouring drinks for his guest first, then serving himself. A good American representative.
I like him
An American and a North Korean eating BBQ with Irish music.. Love it!
I enjoy seeing the genuine smiles on their faces, and how they truly do bond over the food! Food can bring everyone together
This was such a wholesome interaction. Just two guys from very different cultures appreciating good flavors, good conversation, and good company. Not so different after all.
I hope he gets to come here one day and see how we actually are and how we live in a day to day. Hell id be excited with him just to show him everything over here lol. We don’t feel any animosity or hatred towards you and would love for you to experience our country and our ways
Who's dying for BBQ after watching this?! MEEEE
homie i am literally on doordash looking for a fix LOL
@@seximonki1989 😂😂
Dude... I haven't even eaten all day and it is 6:45pm right now and I already love this type of stuff so I am drooling 🤤
Wish they also had some classic BBQ beef hotdogs
@@patrioticz2858 lol I bet!! I had just finished eating when I watched it and it still made me drool!!
the amount of times I laughed at Chul Eun's expressions as he tried each type of meat 😂😂 he didn't even have to say anything, his eyes said it all! ❤
There are some of us Americans that know the hardships North Koreans go through: inequality, starvation, no freedom of speech, deprivation and yes, the nukes. We want them to feel safe and hopeful knowing that Americans don't feel aggressive towards them, even though they have been taught to dislike and fear Americans. We know they were lied to and treated poorly and we wish them a life of happiness. 🙂
I'm not religious at all, but Amen.
@@azurepulse1870 lol just lack imagination eh?
@@azurepulse1870 amen just means "so be it" or "it is so"
yes i think most of us know the actual citizens of North Korea have it tough and just have to put up with him like the rest of us. Maybe one day all that will be over.
@@EC-dz4bq Did you want them to make up a new word that nobody knew? Kind of defeats the purpose of communication, no?
this actually made me tear up. he is so kind and optimistic. I’m so happy he got to experience this and life. ❤
As an American who is from Western North Carolina, and my state has a HUGE BBQ culture....this made me SO happy to watch. Slow smoked meat is delicious to EVERYONE, no matter what culture or country you are from. Where NC gets obsessed is over what kind of sauce goes best. Western NC is more famous for its sweet ketchup based sauce while eastern NC is more famous for its vinegar based sauce....(I like the vinegar better, but that's pretty much blasphemy to my fellow WNC neighbors!) Thank you for sharing something that is so loved by many Americans, and letting us see the reaction! I loved it!
Western NC here and vinegar is the best 💯
I've found variations all over the states. Me, I was raised on sweet/smoky.
I agree that the best part is the smile on his face!
@@wednesday1899 West and east NC use vinegar based. East side here!
I’m a Greek heathen and would always be sure to sit down with both. OOOOPPPAAA
@@RavenCroftLoft you're a what??
What people from North Korea need to understand is that BBQ in North America is defined by region. Texas is Beef Country. North Carolina is Pork Country. Everyplace else is some combination. For us BBQ purists. Having your own Smoker is a must. What smoking meat does is even the playing field. Originally it was poor people who started smoking. We only had enough money to get what is considered the scraps or bad cuts of meat. We smoked the meat to make it tender so we could eat it. There is not a lot of difference between cooking meat in a smoker and cooking meat in a pit that’s in the ground. The beauty of smoking is what you do while it’s slow cooking.
I just LOVE moments of connection. Have missed these videos. Thank you both for the easy nature and open talk. Hi love genuine laughter from these too. Hope to see more when able.
probably one of the most wholesome and honest videos i have seen with foreigners eating together! love it , quite enjoyed this video.
This is amazing, I love the friendship they have. If only people could get along like this in every country
Missed these videos with dialogs between NK and Americans. This was really heart warming.
You guys always do such a wonderful job uniting people and overcoming stereotypes. It warms my heart to know that we can understand one another. Have a wonderful day, i'd love to pen pal someone from North or South Korea.
They need to try things like Pecan Pie and Apple Cobbler, Lobster & Crab, Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Fried Chicken both with white Pepper Gravy. How about Biscuit & Sausage Gravy, Steak Fries, Chili, just to name a few foods they probably haven't had. I love these videos of the different people meeting and talking with each other. Keep it happening!!!
Korea has alot of lobster and crab. very diverse seafood markets. but all the other stuff is awesome!
@Shinidoshi i live in Texas and it’s country a little bit and it’s very diverse so everyone fits in
southern food might scare them!
Hot wings!
@@davidstephens189 Their curry and other dishes are far hotter than anything I eat (in Texas). Not sure why you think Southern food would scare them.
I never expected to watch this but I saw it on my feed and I agree with this one comment saying "Love seeing that guy so happy, he probably went through really much". I loved seeing the guy happy it brought a smile to my face.
I love to see foreigners eat foods they never ate before it helps them open they’re appetites new horizons that’s what I call love when countries come together to share what they have and different types of tastes each nation have on they’re foods❤
should check out tribal people try, it is amazing also.
I started life out as an Army brat and grew up that way. As a soldier I did two tours overseas and ate the foods there.
I don’t know why, seeing the korean man eating so well makes me wanna cry. He looks like he’s trully enjoying the meal.
I was drooling watching these guys eat. I think BBQ is America's favorite food.
BBQ ribs are the BEST. I could probably eat them every day if I was given the chance.
These North Korean people who try American food for the first time make me smile. They act like they have never had food before in their life. Did you see how Lee Chul-eun was shoving huge pieces of food in his mouth? He must have been enjoying it!
I knew he was in heaven after he took the first sip of coke lol
He was also chewing on the little chunks on the bone too.
Which just proves that he really enjoyed it 😄😋
He's such a good-natured guy. Makes one smile when listening to him.
I love ❤️ everything about this episode. May the young man from N. Korea always be happy, blessed and positive in and with his future. I’m impressed with the American man who speaks Korean so well. Great representation of both different countries. BBQ 🍗 is always EXCELLENT 🙋🏻♀️👍🏽 CA-USA
his sense of humor is critical but light hearted at the same time, what a cool guy! The best barbeque is in the south USA. I moved to the south and was so surprised at just how yummy it is
It's always so fun to watch someone enjoy your country's food. BBQ brings people together - it's frequently done at family gatherings, summer holidays, and events. I would have liked to see them try some BBQ sides like mac n cheese, potato salad, fruit salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, and pie for dessert.
First, y'all are making me hungry.
Second, I love how good food can bring almost any cultures together.
1:19 "It tastes so good" put such a quick smile on my face 😄
I love it when we find out that the others are not only just like us, but we'll even sit, eat, laugh, and enjoy each other's company! Great video
I love videos like these. Seeing the power that good food has to bring people together is always incredible.
0:42 bbq brisket, a mainstay of Texas bbq, is traditionally beef not pork. that looked like beef to me, he is mistaken.
it is beef, there is no brisket in pork lol
@@damushroomlord i stated it that way because he said it was pork in the video. there are other animals that have brisket you can bbq like bison or lamb. thats why i said its traditionally beef.
@@-EchoesIntoEternity- yea i think he messed up
He never said it was pork. He said "This is called brisket."
@@agreen7832 according to the subtitles he said this is also kind of pork
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 he said " I forgot you were there" IM DEAD LMAO
This is absolutely so cute! 😭 the look on his face when he tries these delicious choices. It’s like seeing a toddler trying sugar for the first time and LOVES IT!! 🩵♥️
I love when I see People from America and Other countries genuinely get together and share food 🔥🔥🔥 Most media & politicians want to keep countries divided
This was lovely. My family does this kind of BBQ about 4 times in the summer (about once a month), and with all the fixings. Corn bread casserole, pasta salad, dip, veggies, smoked bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, corn on the cob, baked beans, roasted potatoes, real smoked ham, brisket, ribs, burgers, bratwurst, and hot dogs. Followed with hilarity and a bonfire. I hope you're able to see the US and to learn that we are not so bad. Sending support, love, and kindness from Lexington, Michigan, USA.
Here in Rio Grande do Sul (southern-most state in Brazil) we have the Gaúcho culture, were we eat BBQ every Sunday all year, every sunday we call all family members and eat together BBQ.
A great part of this vid is how authentic it is. I'm so tired of seeing over the top/fake reactions; this was a breath of fresh air.
This brings a smile to my face. Glad he enjoyed it.
Very wholesome video. I love that a North Korean man and an American man broke bread together and enjoyed each other's company over a meal. Perhaps food can be a great unifier of people foreign to one another.
I lived in Kansas City, one of the BBQ capitals of the US and it doesn't matter how many times you get it, really good BBQ never loses its wow factor. Its also humbling to try to make your own and understand the skill technique/knowledge it takes to do it well. That makes the good stuff taste even better.
Gates or Bryant's? 👀
The friendship is awesome man. Makes me wanna be better brother to all my family and friends. God bless y’all fr
Hey hello I'm from New Zealand, love too see more videos like this please, poor guy missed out on alot, glad he got to try the BBQ pork and brisket. 'Oh" so hungry now. Cheerz.
Taste of freedom. Literally
Your boy just kept eating with a smile on his face. Glad he was able to escape.
Oh my goodness. I was sitting here watching you guys eat. I had my bottle of coke but my mouth was watering for some of those BBQ ribs. They looked so tender. Jack, I am happy you introduced him to some good eating. 🤣🤣
I'm Canadian and this satisfies me, seeing him so happy enjoying food makes my day. I wish we could give this joy to everyone. They always say a good meal brings family and friends together, I still feel with an open mind it can bring countries together too xD
It’s heartbreaking on his first thought looking at all that food is his people in North Korea. Praying that someday North Koreans are freed from tyranny.
Food is one of the most beautiful things in life not only do we all need it and indulge in it, but because it has the ability to connect anyone from different cultures as a universal language through shared experience. It makes me so happy to see something like this. Especially involving someone who grew up in an environment where food was not bountiful and the food that they DID have access to was not always extremely nutritious or flavorful. So awesome.
I hope we're all enjoying our own BBQ while watching this. 😋
I never thought i would enjoy watching someone eat! I am do happy to see him enjoy his food .
Good for him. I'm glad he enjoyed it
This was one of those videos that made me smile while trying to hold back tears. I hope more NKs get out to see and experience the world.
Food always seems to bring people together! You get experience different cultures through your taste buds! 😁.
I watch North Koreans to see how they’ve achieved the light that I was barely able to reach. Seeing this person’s reaction to food was like my experience of finally feeling the emotion of happiness. Before my counsellor’s words, I was malnourished and in extreme distress, similar to many North Koreans. After, my counsellor gave me the happiest life possible, but unfortunately couldn’t give me friends. I have commented on many UA-cam videos and have seen the amount of likes I’ve gotten, giving me a sense of friendship. I can’t be more grateful for this “light” at the end of the tunnel. Thank you, UA-cam.
I'm a Texan and get to eat BBQ, when I want. Well, not as often as I want. ;-) Yet, I STILL react the way the North Korean man reacts! "It's so good!" "Amazing!" I am also really happy that they didn't drown anything in sauce, or even go right to the sauce. I know people from other countries, outside of Texas, use lots of sauce. But, the meat should stand, alone. Sauce, if desired. I'm not sure where the American is from, but he said the brisket is a type of pork. Maybe that was a translation typo. I hope! Wonderful to watch!! On a side note, I taught in a dental residency for a few years. Some of the dentists were originally from India. I asked one of them if it was hard to resist the BBQ temptation. He answered that American cows are not considered sacred and he loved brisket! LOL!! Attaboy! I love the way he thinks!
I love this korean guy! He is so cheerful whenever he eats. Happy New Year everyone!
I really enjoy these videos with the North Koreans experiencing a small part of American culture. It really is unfortunate that most North Koreans will never know that the great majority of Americans hold no animosity toward their people. Food has a way of breaking barriers and uniting people.
Yeah, it really is awful the NK actively lies to their people about america so that their general population has NO IDEA how bad they really have it. Propaganda is a huge thing over there
I know he enjoyed the food. Watching him eat was so satisfying.
Americans do tend to be in the larger sizes but Cheol-eun's comment at 10:20 gives a good insight into where a lot of us get it.. :) it's just too good, and we have a hard time stopping at just full... LOL ;)
Unfortunately though, a lot of people associate "larger sizes" solely with the unhealthy side of that coin. When I tell people, even from European countries, that I am 6'2 (188cm) 210lbs (95.25kg) they assume I am fat. Even at that weight on my current bulk I am 15% bodyfat which is still relatively lean, and when I was 11.5% I was still 195lbs (88.5kg).
It was really nice for the American to help him out and prepare the samples how we do it. It is a little overwhleming to watch someone do it and then try to copy that. Kudos! Gloves are very clean and smart.
I’m happy you enjoyed our BBQ 🍖 enjoy brothers🤙🏻! -NJ American 🇺🇸
It almost brings tears to my eyes seeing his smiles everytime he tried each one for the first time. I am so happy he got to experience this food, but I also feel very bad for those in North Korea who will never get to try this kind of food. By the way, I enjoyed these videos alot and I subscribed yesterday 🙂
American BBQ is one of things I missed while overseas
This video made my heart swell, I’m glad to see he’s enjoying himself. No one should be told what they can or cannot eat or purchase
0:44 did this man say "This is also kind of pork" when describing Brisket!!!!
Yeah wtf?
Nothing brings people together more than food, we will overlook many differences when presented a feast, 🤣💯👍❤
Living in the south east USA I have been waiting for this I only wish they could have tried a low country boil too
As a fellow southerner, I second that, with spicy sausage, potatoes, shrimp, crawfish. Mmmm
I still recall the first time I had Korean food in 1976. My taste buds' eyes were opened to new, wonderful flavors. To this day I will have cravings for kimchi. There's some in my fridge right now!
I keep kimchi, too! It's delicious!
As an American mama, I have a mother’s love for every North Korean and wish I could serve them all the best hug and the best meals of their lives ❤
Next you should try American Southern Breakfast foods :)
The love shared between these man is enjoyable to watch. Food looks great! 🥘
I'm so glad he had the opportunity to try such delicious food, I think Koreans have such an appreciation for food, not just the food itself but the intricate flavors of it, I'm from the Caribbean, if I ever moved to Korea I would try and open a shop selling Carribean food because I know the flavors will be loved.
It’s really nice to see an American and North Korean sitting together having a great meal and laughing together in conversation. I wish they weren’t taught to hate Americans. I think any regular human beings no matter what nationality they are can sit and eat and talk and laugh together like these 2 gentlemen. Nice video. Food looks great!!
That looks incredible. Great food is the best thing to share with people.
I hope from now on he can eat the best foods all the time!
1:43 I can taste those ribs
saaaaaaameee! my mouth is watering
same i will fill my house wuth drool
Never had it before but he cleaned them bones like a pro! He's welcome in America anytime what a great guy
And in that moment, he understood what freedom tasted like.
Omg hahahah
This is so wholesome loll just two dudes sharing the love for BBQ and smoked meats🤣❤️
Loved this video! Warms my heart to see this man eating our American cuisine and loving it as we do.
Love this video.
The American guy is having a really nice Korean accent. Love to see it. As well as the north Korean guy is so sweet. Hope both of them have a beautiful life ahead. ❤
This most be great for you being from the north Korea we can eat like this when ever we want to
The courteous and easy demeanor of the American guy preparing and talk to the North Korean is first class!
stories, music, and food. the holy trinity of bringing people together
This was so much a pleasure to watch. Food really does shorten the gap between people ❤
This makes my heart happy to see him sitting next to an American and having a meal. Good to see 💜
im smiling from the start to the end cuz like dude how long it feels to not smile for so long until u escape from that country and go to more freedom country and make new friends, find happiness, talk from their perspective and enjoy eating, honestly i’m very proud of that guy this video made my day🥹🥹🥹💗💗💗my heart is melting srsly😭😭😭💗💗💗
God bless this wholesome honest brother. Bring him to my sisters house in midwest...WELL FEED YALL!!!!!
Ok the algorithm didnt disappoint. Just seeing someone enjoy somethnng so much is wholesome
Love videos like these, they make me appreciate the little I have and have been able to experience. A wise man one said “enjoy the little things” because for some those little things are something that they have never or will ever experience.
This man is genuinely loving life with that BBQ. Man eats, man happy.
I love watching Jack being really hospitable to the guy...i bet he understands well the hardships that people of North Korea faces
