  • In this episode of The Post Workout, we interview former US Navy SEAL and Ultrarunner Chadd Wright.
Born and raised in the mountains of northwest Georgia, Chadd joined the navy and went on to have a successful career in the SEAL teams serving as a Team Leader on multiple deployments, a SEAL instructor and Master Training Specialist. Retiring in 2019, he is now a part-time defense contractor, business owner, entrepreneur, and competitive Ultrarunner. Chad also put the 1st Phorm team through the Combat Standard Test, to simulate a half day of work as a Navy SEAL.

Clicked this as soon as I saw the notification. Chadd is the man. Coming out of the military has been tough, but I’ve been watching his videos and boy do they help motivate me and help me find some sort of direction in this crazy life. Excited to watch the rest of this, and thank you guys for bringing him on for an interview. Also Josh standing on business about the assault bike 😂

Love everything Chadd does and says. He doesn't conform to the media or popular opinion from the media, he just tells it like it is with a realistic, practical perspective from experience. I love everything the man puts out and hope he continues doing what he's been doing while maintaining the integrity and faith he's shown true of himself for years. God bless!

Chad is a man who knows himself and what he can do perfectly. His locust of control is solely internal. He doesn't doubt himself nor his capabilities for a single second. He's programmed like a fine tuned killing machine nevertheless he's very well emotionally balanced. What a nice down to Earth person. I am very proud of these heroes..God bless him and his loved ones

I liked the lesson Chadd gave on how to respond to people like the interviewer. The guy knows Chadd does not swear and that he’s a man of faith, yet he loads both barrels and without regard for respect of who Chadd is he fires them off. But Chadd was not thrown off in delivering his testimony; he was bullet proof.

What an absolute inspiration this guy is.
I've got nothing to add to his insights, but I'm curious about Navy regulations re: pre-existing medical conditions.
Chadd had an elective heart surgery and was still allowed to be in the Navy and become a Navy SEAL; that's wild to me.
I tried to join the French Foreign Legion a few years back, but because I'd had a gnarly knee injury (Patellar Tendon Rupture) & reconstructive surgery I was confronted with a difficult situation.
First, if I wanted to join, I would have to get a letter from a doctor stating I was fit to train / deploy; that part was really no problem because you can always find a doctor willing sign pretty much anything.
What kept me from signing on was the caveat that if I were to re-injure my knee *at any point during training or deployment*, I would immediately be faced with the equivalent of a dishonorable discharge for falsely representing my fitness for service, or 'fraudulent enlistment' as they termed it.
Following that I would be stuck in France (or whatever foreign land I was deployed in) injured, with no legal standing in the country, no money, and facing legal repercussions.
And of course this being the French Foreign Legion, I had to translate all of this from French before ultimately making the decision to NOT risk throwing my life into chaos.
So I guess my point is this: the FFL is undoubtedly bad ass but the SEALS are at a whole other level; how is it that their standards for admitance are so wildly divergent?
And damn man - Chadd had open heart surgery as a young man and still became all that he is; that's amazing in and of itself.

This was a great interview. Above all it showed a side of Chadd that is relatable in both being a Christian and someone who has retired from a career in the military. Who also enjoys staying fit, even though I have a couple decades on the young man. His response to one of the questions. In which he referred to the level of fitness he [we] were accustomed to in the military. Then to see and witness the lack of desire and fitness around us in the civilian sector. It is so true, the difference is that his attitude and personality throughout this interview. If he projected this more. He would reach far more people. His tidbits of testimony tossed in . Again he was relaxed and he witnessed and said who he is who was and what he is about. I will say, and I understand the "man thing", however, and I am retired from a career in the military. Just clean up the language. It's not difficult and it can be done without losing any form of macho standards. One it's more professional and two it is a great way to sit yourself apart as a Christian. But if you're telling folks about your faith and Christianity and doing so mixed with a foul mouth... .. You can be every bit a manly man and a Christian and speak with out a foul mouth. It also shows just that. Look at it like the standards you speak of. However great interview. Chadd carry over more of this persona, this side of you on your channel and your posts. You will reach and be received by far more people. Because it's not your message you're getting out. It's God's message and you are just one of his many Warrior Messengers.
    Nuff said...

Another major issue with Americans being so lazy with their own personal health is that when they run into trouble, they look around for those of us who DO take care of ourselves to help fix their trouble. And this takes time and energy from our lives which makes us that little bit weaker. And the sick people hoard space in hospitals and ERs which possibly could make a healthier person wait longer, which means they are being penalized for being healthier. We cater WAY too much to the weak and it is dragging us all down. I get that we need to help people but if they never try to help themselves, that isn't fair to throw their baggage onto someone who made the right life choices in their own life.
