Man drives through Balboa Park during 30 minute pursuit (w/ passing shot)

#BALBOAPARK (San Diego) - January 27, 2021
* Sheriff initiated a pursuit of a suspicious person who was possibly tampering with or breaking into vehicles
* The suspect took off in a white Dodge Durango SUV, leading deputies on a pursuit for over 30 minutes
* During the pursuit the driver ran through dozens of street lights and stop signs
* The suspect drove through Balboa Park on the grass and sidewalks
* The pursuit spanned several freeways including the 94, 125, 15, and 805 with the top speed reaching 100 MPH on freeways
* The owner reached out to us and confirmed the vehicle was stolen a week ago
* The suspect was arrested and then transported to the hospital by ambulance for evaluation
* The pursuit entered Balboa Park at 2229 Morley Field Dr and got stuck in the hills near 2500 Pershing Dr (approximately 0.7 miles per Google Maps)
