    sory to say it is not Turkey Brown...it could be either Izmir or Bursa fig from Turkey. the leaves of Turkey Brown are more rounded rather than like a hand and fingers.

    Several years ago I bought some dried Mission figs covered in dark chocolate at Costco. They were so good but I never found them again. I like that the Mission can be dried. I hope to eventually get one. I know someone that has a tree. I may ask them for a stem and just plant it in some soil. It can work with figs and they can grow fast. Have a great New Year and 2022 and much mature fruit in the coming years. Cheers🥂👍

    Out of nowhere, three years ago, two seedlings popped up in my backyard, likely from bird dispersal. This year, both are producing; one, a Chicago Hardy, the other a Mission Fig. Tonight (7/29/2022), for desert, we inaugurate the first ripened Mission! Can’t wait! BTW, I’ve seen these same figs thrive on the Oso Trail, CA.

    Which variety is most likely to have worms or larvae inside the fruit?

    • @johnnysworld-backyardorchard
      @johnnysworld-backyardorchard  3 роки тому

      Hi Bobby: just based on my trees, my brown turkey tends to have more larvae than my black mission. But this is just based on my trees and not indicative of black mission vs brown turkey. Thank you for your question and thanks for watching!

      I never get larvae, but the ants and wasps are all over my fig trees. I usually pick the fruit before they’re completely ripe, and keep them on the counter to finish.

    That has all the visual characteristics of a VDB than a Black Mission. You may want to double check.

      Thank you for your comment, those are information about the Black Mission I found online. I don't personally have a Violette de Bordeaux, but have heard great things about that fig variety. Thank you for watching!

      Hi Nguyen Laun: Black Missions are usually smaller and darker in color than Brown Turkeys which are bigger and paler. Black Missions are suppose to sweeter than Brown Turkeys. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!.

      @johnnysworld-backyardorchard  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your question and thank you for watching. I'm not familiar with the dainna jelly fig but there is another fig called Diana which I read somewhere that it is suppose to be very sweet and watery with a tropical character that hints at banana and pineapple. I have never personally tasted a Diana before. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!

      @@hoangkhoi-bkteam1960 Hello: it is really difficult to describe, but they are sweet and the flesh is plump and have seeds in them that you eat. It is a really unique taste and very delicious. You can probably purchase dried figs if you cannot purchase fresh figs, but I really like fresh figs right out of the tree. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
