    Wouldn't the thrusters blast the tail?

    • @ECHenry
      @ECHenry  Рік тому +780

      Seems that way! I actually considered mentioning that the tail is part of some elaborate electromagnetic thrust vectoring system, so the two work in harmony, rather than the tail obstructing the engines.
      Because otherwise, it does seem a bit impractical! Haha

    • @alexpembury4307
      @alexpembury4307 Рік тому +155

      Maybe by being slightly elevated above the tail, it prevents this and add to in atmosphere qualities.

    Star Wars CCG had a card called “Crash Site Memorial” which had the same image of a crashed ship. The text explained that Mos Eisley was based around the wreckage of a colony ship called the Dowager Queen. Of course that was probably retconned or never had any official status in the first place.

    • @brendanhurley5433
      @brendanhurley5433 Рік тому +25

      I remember The Dowager Queen in Tales of the Mos Eisley Cantina. I remember it being described as an impressive hulk. 20m seems small for that. A rare time for EC Henry to overwrite as opposed to expand on an existing lore. Great reconstruction though.

    My own headcanon would be that some down on his luck salvager from Mos Eisley found the wreck out in the desert, stacked a claim, then had a repulsor lift hauler freight it over to the town and simply drop it in his front yard so he could just pick it clean from the comfort of his own home. Problem was he owed the Hutts a lot of money and they came to collect, he couldnt pay and got iced by a bounty hunter. This happened in plain view, so most people thought the wreck belonged to the Hutts now and nobody dared to touch it, leaving it to decay in the middle of town. ^^

    I seem to remember one of the 'tales of' anthology books giving some backstory to the large wreck in the center of Mos Eisley as well- they called it the 'Dowager Queen' and if memory serves, Lady Valarian, the closest thing Jabba had to competition in the system, used it as a base sometimes...

  • @SJReid82

    Man, it's content like this that makes me wish someone would do a television series akin to the one Lucas wanted to do before selling SW to disney; more of an anthology-type series detailing more of the 'day-to-day' SW universe not necessarily about Manalorians or Jedi or bounty hunters. You get a little taste of it in both Mandalorian and Andor, but something a little less 'rigid' in terms of plotting. I think artifacts like the ship presented in this video demonstrate just how many interesting stories could be told about the Star Wars galaxy at large.

  • @Unknown13x
    @Unknown13x Рік тому +1

    I thought it was an old ship that had about 5 or 6 owners in the past, and it was starting to show in age and it was starting to fall apart, so it had landed there, because it needed some repairs to fully go into hyper space and it couldn’t. But the owner and it’s crew couldn’t afford the cost because it was an old ship, and the parts they needed were hard to come by. So they eventually gave up on trying to repair the ship, and sold it to a scraper for a fair price. And the scraper salvaged what ever it could from the ship. And left the rest behind. Other people tried to build a living place in the remains but eventually it didn’t work out for long and abandoned it. Over time other scrapers took what’s left and erosion wore it down. And now it’s just the remains of a ship, that they stopped making long ago.

    It could also easily be that the ship was left to rot, or blown up in a deal gone wrong or double cross, and the run down and seedy crime ridden town just never cared to clean it up, or deemed it too difficult because of how large it was, and or that it wasn't in too inconvenient a spot for traffic. Or maybe it *was* moved, and just that's as far as it got.
    Many desert roads in America you can find flipped and sideways cars from old wrecks, sometimes just left there, sometimes literally pushed there on purpose, either for erosion control or just to get it out of the way. And in old, run down crime heavy towns, where law is scarce, lots of junk and rotted cars and houses can be found. I think George was going very much for those aesthetics when he was depicting mos eisely, and it makes sense for what it is, and where it is. Just too hot, in both senses of the word, to bother moving the wreck any further than there if at all.

    I wish you nothing but good fortune with the fan film, Henry! Also, love how you bring so many of these background ships to life. =D

    Would love to see the Towani family ship in all its glory!! You know, from the Ewok movies!! There is an interesting back story on what the FX crew used to make it!
