Oh My Word! The Liberator lives! That is just ace, kinda speechless really. Must have been an absolute ton of work, if a short film comes out of this that would be worth keeping the internet for :)
Wow, indeed. In so much as Star Trek's original Enterprise, Star Wars Millennium Falcon, and Battlestar Galactica are quintessential to each series / story, I put the Liberator on that same level. Each are iconic and Liberator was just plain cool then and today. Well done.
Yeah all the ships in those shows are awesome. The fans take them to there hearts like they are characters in the show. The Liberator is as you say no different. Thanks for the great comment.
I have always thought that the Liberator was one of the best looking ships I have seen, and your re-imagined Liberator is stunning, I hope to see your project come to fruition, I loved Blakes 7 as a kid. Thank you for sharing, it really made me smile :)
So glad this popped up on my feed, I also was blown away on first sight of the Liberator. It is a show truly worthy for a remake on the strength of the ship design alone. Your reimagination of the Liberator both holds true to the original and brings it bang up to date as in BSG. Great work, I am looking forward with great interest with this project. Good luck !!
Damn right, I was shocked that this popped up. Subscribed straight away and hoping for future episodes... Just great someone is passionate and has the ability to do this...
Great stuff! I hope you pull this off and a proper show gets created with you involved. Blakes7 has so much potential, its almost criminal it hasnt been revisited.
what you're doing is amazing. not sure where you find the time to do it but I sure am glad you are doing it. i like your rendition of the Liberator (dsv3). even though aftershock will be a snippet time wise it will be gargantuan in its impact. i always imagined that orac helped zen with the redesign, but that's just my ramblings. anyway Mark i look forward to seeing your production in due time. this is epic.
Simply incredible, both of your Liberators are absolutely fantastic. This project is a display of such consummate skill, love and respect for the subject matter and so very exciting to watch. Have loved seeing it all unfold so far, and looking forward to seeing what comes next, Standard by Twelve Mark. - Andy
Brilliant! This single video shows that a remake is totally feasible provided its done correctly and its done with love for the original. The imagery is wonderful and you show great dedication in bringing the original Liberator to new life with the 4K version. It goes far beyond what was ever possible with what was, at the time, a fantastic filming miniature. LIBERATOR AFTERSHOCK has immense potential to become a cult classic additon to that universe as it also does not need to rely on any of the original cast members and this is the genius of this story. There will be purist naysayers who will whinge about how you cant remake the original Liberator.......youve proven them wrong because in my opinion, your redesign of the ship does not detract from the original it take its design to a more refined level....and it totally does the old design much justice....its a thing of beauty. I hope Aftershock comes to fruition and that if a reboot of the series is ever made, your Liberator design is the one thats used. While the original series was classic, for every good episode theres a really bad one as we all know. Some of sets, stories and pacing of the old series could be done so much better which is why a remake is a great way to bring a classic series to a new generation of fans......as good as the old series was....it will never have the fanbase it had back in the day...its too dated. Heres to the new Liberator, Aftershock....and just maybe...a remake....if any show needs one...its Blakes 7!😊😊
Many Thanks for your comment. I have thought of many different senarios to try and bring this show back. I 'm glad that I have, to some degree, come up with something that most fans of the show can jump on board with. Thanks again for the great comment.
Iconic spaceship with a crew of rebels and thieves. Aspirational Blake tempered by sardonic Avon, creating a tension that was always a part of the plot. enjoyed it so much growing up. Wasn't too impressed with how the story lost its heart and got twisted up towards the end of its run. But it was great up to the second series. Yeah, that spacecraft was stunning, angular but graceful, looked like it was moving all the time. All the best with it😊
Great reimagining of the original design. I watched this show too as a kid and loved it. The cast of morally grey characters with their respective strengths and weaknesses were fascinating to me and the ship and it's tech were wondrous. There was a fair amount of time spent recreating those things with Lego.
I remember the original series from my youth. Excellent stuff. I wish you all the luck in the known universe with your project, you obviously know what your doing.
I got thrown out of a few french lessons in school because I was too busy drawing the Liberator to pay attention to the teacher. Loved that ship! Orac was a condescending a-hole though.
I absolutely loved this ship (then and now). The show is sadly dated (although there are still some memorable characters and quotes) (and there's Servalan: RIP Jacqueline Pearce) but the Liberator? Long live the Liberator! Go get 'em kid, make us proud.
Excellent! Can’t wait to see this and in time the inevitable reboot. About time with the re-rise of fascism to examine the Federation and Freedom Fighters in the future
When can I watch it? Massive smile here because Blakes 7 is a show worth remaking and perhaps a short might open the Beeb's eyes! That said given their recent form (Dr Who, and the Watch) they'd probably ruin it!
Thanks for the comment. Glad you your liking it. Putting a smile on fans faces was the big hope for this documentry. If it did get a revival I'm not sure it would be by the BBC anyhow.
Great idea loved the show back then the cast and Zen and Oric lol. And your model of the ship is brilliant. Need Netflix or Amazon to do it but only with your design and vision.
MAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNN, I'm a young lad again, this gave me goosebumps, loved the original series, wish they would do a remake like BSG, your work is amazing, can't wait to see your end product, subscribed and following, great work fella
@@Earlswoodpark It' right below the front crane in what I thought was an intake according to Simon. Seems an unusual place considering the slot on the front that everyone thought was the bridge window !!
@Earlswoodpark YW I may have been born across the pond eight years after that signature finale, but I grew up watching VHS recordings from PBS, and drew a big old Zen on the wall at the foot of my bed in crayon. Pretty sure he was painted over, so I get a warm, gooey feeling knowing he's still there. I pray that a reboot finally happens.
Small suggestion maybe do a few shots of it on the ground. Like it in a lab or shipyard. Put out the idea of it having been recovered and rebuilt by the federation
It would be great if they released a version of the Blake’s Seven series with updated special effects like they did with Star Trek TOS and commission you to do all of the space scenes.
That reboot model is a thing of beauty. Is there ANY chance of releasing a non-textured 3D file so we could print the reboot Liberator as a real-life model? Even if it's detail reduced to protect your work from theft. I just spent 2 weeks printing the Liberator model I always wanted as a kid (but Airfix/Revel never made). It's 18" of pure childhood joy, right next to the Phoenix from Battle of the Planets (the other unobtainable model from my youth) and now I want that Gen2 Liberator SO badly.
Hi. As much as I would love to release the model for 3D printing (And there have been quite a few requests) I'm unable to do so at this time. I'm currently working with a team who may want to persue some of my ideas. I hope this makes sense. This isn't to say that the opurtunity won't come up in the future. You mentioned the Phoenix from battle of the planets. Wow that takes me back.
Love your adherence to Martin Bowers original design, but forgive me for saying it flattening the primary Hull and outriggers so they were oval would have looked stunning....
Thanks for the great comment. There is additional new detail in the model and funny you should mention this I did consider pushing the back end out to make it more EGG like. Like in the origional design.
I'm focused on getting the short film made for now. Several fans of the show have asked weather I will be releasing an STL of the Liberator. That maybe a possibility later on. but not immediately.
Looks amazing. My favourate TV show of all time. Here is my list of "don't do's" 1 Don't have ANY flare lights or any type of lights pointing into the camera. This destroyed all the latest Star Trek movies and are unwatchable. 2 Don't have crap drama/melodrama piano music in the background. This destroyed Stargate Universe and some others. 3 Don't give the characters super human abilities and fighting skills. They are normal people with a few skills. 4 Don't do anything they did in Star Trek Discovery. This show is crap and is NOT good. The happy happy joy joy female actors all taking softly and hugging and blah blah blah. I can't stand it. 5 Don't turn it into a comedy that ALL Hollywood movies and TV shows have now become with catch phrases and one liners in the most inappropriate places. This has destroyed Hollywood and I now watch a lot of Russian movies but they don't make many scifi stuff sadly. 6 Don't stray from established cannon with blink drives and tech from the future and touch screens that then suddenly don't exist in the main Blakes 7 universe. Good luck. (ps. Find a good role for Emma Rigby
Not to burst your bubble but B7 Productions already released an audio back in 2009 about the Liberator and Zen pre Blake so am afraid your idea has already been done. Unless you were the author of that audio drama.
