I like to imagine that at least a few of these were the result of technical/budget limitations, and weren't intentional at all. "Yes George, we got the shuttle prop done but the lights act weird when you move the wings"
The human on the sandcrawler fits that category - he's not an actor, he's an f/x tech trying desparately to not be noticed as he scrambles to keep the droid props working - especially the radio controlled Artoo body that hadn't had enough development time to be fully reliable and then got damaged on the flight to Tunisia.

Episode 1 still has some things I didn't know. Take when the crew arrive on Tatooine as an example, in the background there's a Gozanti-Class cruiser flying behind the main cast as they walk into Mos Espa. The Gozanti's, plus others like the Tecora-Class freighter, would become more common place as a simple background ship during the Clone Wars. Hell, even the Separatists had a few dozen of them during the first episode of the D-Squad Arc of season 5.
Have you ever noticed this? In A New Hope, during the computer generated presentation showing how to bomb the Deathstar in the simulation, the "glider" is dropping a bomb, NOT firing a torpedo like you see in the end of the film. Which makes the line, "Negative, it impacted on the surface" make much more sense.
That was wonderful. Thanks for sharing these details! I'm so fascinated and mystified by star wars and the feeling it evoked especially in the Lucas films. These little details help in the constant unraveling of that magic.
In the first appearance of the Executor in TESB, the Tie Fighters appear to be doing all sorts of wild and dangerous maneuvers, flying way to close to each other in a random or chaotic manner. I always found that strange. In ROTJ during Darth Vader and then the Emperor's arrivals at the second Death Star, the Tie Fighters are staying in formation and following orderly flight paths.

The starfighter sequence in the Battle of Yavin also has a lot of continuity errors, specifically with the X-Wing Luke is flying. The X-Wing he hops into in the Yavin hangar has a solid red stripe on the side, but in battle he is flying an X-Wing with a broken stripe as well as two wing stripes (Red 2) or five wing stripes (Red 5). The canopy color (your escape pod) also varies from light blue to gray. What makes the X-Wing inconsistency really interesting to me is that a lot of the scenes were added in the special edition, and someone I guess decided NOT to make the markings match the original versions. They also re-used the "fly-by" 2-second clip in the trench like 4 times in quick succession towards the end when it's Luke versus the TIE fighters.

Speaking of nebulon-b variants, there's one more in the same shot with the "CR-110" corvette. I've been playing around with making a reconstruction of it for a few years but can't seem to make sense of it, so I guess not. No doubt you already knew about it but still.
I feel like George Lucas (well, 20 years ago George) would have a mild heart attack watching a video like this. Hiring a bunch of ppl to do a special-special-special edition trilogy, digitally erasing like 70% of every little nuanced thing on screen.
Freaking amazing video! I LOVE little details like this! Like when the Millennium Falcon flies into the Exogorth's mouth the headlights come on, it makes the whole universe feel so alive! I'll never watch the OT the same way again! :)
There's actually a link between Star Wars and Ben Hur. The original Storm Trooper boots were made by Anello & Davide, the same company that made the sandals in Ben Hur (also they were responsible for the icon "Beatles boots" as worn by The Beatles (obvs)).
Wow, thanks for these tidbits I hadn't noticed in 45 years! One thing I wondered was whether younger viewers got the in-joke of the strange sound Chewy makes when he swings from the trees in Endor, which the Wookies in ROTS also make as they swing- It's the call Johnny Weissmuller's vine-swinging Tarzan always used to announce himself in the old 1940's movies!

6:40 Note that it seems the light sequences are automated, which isn't surprising but we do see them one other time. When Luke commandeers a lambda shuttle you can see them blink twice in their three blink pattern before the lights are off screen. Though, the perspective of that shot is a little warped. The shuttle seems way closer to the entrance when it's shown taking off and compared to the distance it travels when escaping the shuttle bay.

They also re-used the "fly-by" 2-second clip in the trench like 4 times in quick succession towards the end when it's Luke versus the TIE fighters.
love these, great work, Mr Henry.
*_The podrace in The Phantom Menace seems to be a copy of a car race in "Flåklypa Grand Prix"(1975), a Norwegian mixed-animation movie._*
*_English name is "The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix"._*
You level of attention noticing geekdom is highly appreciated by a fellow geek who loves the minute details to add an extra touch of realism to sci-fi/sci- fa.
Great job again.
As a serious SF/ high fantasy nerd, I love such in-depth details! As one with photosensitive eyes and poor vision, I deeply appreciate you for your efforts and your diligence.
Han proving that he is the best pilot in the galaxy by being one of the few that does use the turn signals xd
This was an awesome watch, thanks for really diving deep into the lore of this beloved franchise I would love to see more!
Can’t tell you how much I love these breakdowns with real-world and in-universe explanations.
So fun.
I’m convinced I have dementia and your me. This is how I watch Star Wars. Love this
Wow, amazing stuff! Glad I came across your channel! 👍
Another fun fact about Jedi: the animal Chewie goes after on Endor is literally just the rear end of a white tailed deer with eyes glued on the hide.
This is incredible content. I've been watching this for over 40 years and still finding new details. Amazing!!
Judah Ben-Hur, "I'll Try Spinning, That's A Good Trick!"
This was awesome, I love these little details. I'd enjoy another couple of videos like this!
Ice Cream makers are held in the highest of value in Cloud City 4:56
0:45 the human that appeared with the Jawas was none other than Peli Motto from the Mandalorian 😅👍 #Confirmed
PLEASE... I BEG YOU, MORE OF THESE
i simply love your videos
I can't believe I never noticed Wedge closing those s-foils.
I think it's criminal that you have less than a million subs. Great video as always.
This videos was awesome! I’d love to see more videos covering the numerous small and seemingly unnoticeable details. I literally didn’t notice any of the details you discussed.
Thank you for doing this! Because I would never spend my time I actually going through a movie it’s tedious at you, I have certainly missed a whole lot! And when your duties it breaks it down for me, thank you! Good work
7:56 seeing this makes me realise your profile pic is the combination of the letters C, E and H in your username too
I would love a 8 movie (6+Rogue+Solo) non-directors Commentary from you on Star Wars
Speaking of nebulon-b variants, there's one more in the same shot with the "CR-110" corvette. Clearly it's just supposed to be an another nebulon-b, but it IS a different miniature, with slightly different proportions, some additional fins and whatnot. I've been playing around with making a reconstruction of it for a few years but can't seem to make sense of it, so I guess not. No doubt you already knew about it but still.
Everything in all of your videos is new to me. Never noticed any of these details and that's why I love these videos.
I always loved the star wars card games, where they would make cards out of EVERYTHING and throw in extra lore about all the things
Wait, that Battle of Hoth bit...that explains so much about little details that confused me.
Some obscure Star Wars trivia is that r2-d2 was put into multiple ILM projects in 2009 being Star Trek (2009) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
YES! More videos like this would be amazing!!
I'm so beyond supportive and excited about that 😆
We are giving ILM and the incredible SW production crew the flowers they deserve
I love that when you study the old films you just find more and more details that enhance the experience.
Henry, your vids are always awesome. Well done!
48 and loads of these are new to me❤
Brilliant
I feel like George Lucas (well, 20 years ago George) would have a mild heart attack watching a video like this. Hiring a bunch of ppl to do a special-special-special edition trilogy, digitally erasing like 70% of every little nuanced thing on screen.
Freaking amazing video! I LOVE little details like this! Like when the Millennium Falcon flies into the Exogorth's mouth the headlights come on, it makes the whole universe feel so alive! I'll never watch the OT the same way again! :)
More of these, yes!!!! This was fascinating! Props man!
The "human Jawa" was behind R2 to help with the 3rd leg deployment, as they were having lots of troubles on that day with the droids.
One thing I wondered was whether younger viewers got the in-joke of the strange sound Chewy makes when he swings from the trees in Endor, which the Wookies in ROTS also make as they swing- It's the call Johnny Weissmuller's vine-swinging Tarzan always used to announce himself in the old 1940's movies!
awesome stuff! i could watch these for hours!
Wow. Great video. Never noticed the most of this. My favorite detail are the IG "heads" in the cantina.
Which are, apparently, parts from the internal workings of jet fighter engines!!.
He really said no droids
Love it! Hope you make more on the OT and the PT. I knew maybe half of what’s here, and usually chalk it up to non-narrative reasons, but this video was well thought through and presented.
I could watch hours of this. Please keep it up.
Never will I stop loving your videos!!
Excellent details - many of them I never knew before. I hope you can do more like this and cover the prequels and sequels as well.
More, more, MORE details and trivia!!!! THANK YOU EC!!!
6:47 It’s still my favourite Star Wars ship
I’ve always particularly loved this he flashing lights on the shuttle ever since I was a kid as it reminded me of late night flights I’d taken with my family. The shuttle always felt so real. Such a cool design.
This is an awesome vid man!! I love this kind of stuff and you pointed out things I’ve never noticed before which is saying a lot since I have been a huge SW fan since ‘77. This is my first time coming across your channel and you have earned a new subscriber my friend! Thank you for this amazing content sir! 🙏
This video really put a smile on my face. You're incredible!
What about all the bedding & pillows on the top shelf inside the falcon when Luke is training? 😂
I too deeply enjoy protocol and procedure in these films. Love imagining everyday life in the universe
Man this stuff is so interesting! Thank you for pointing out all these details! I should definitely rewatch these movies to see if I can find any of my own.
Absolutely, i would *love* to see more of these videos, i’m crazy about small details like these!
6:40 Note that it seems the light sequences are automated, which isn't surprising but we do see them one other time. When Luke commandeers a lambda shuttle you can see them blink twice in their three blink pattern before the lights are off screen. Though, the perspective of that shot is a little warped. The shuttle seems way closer to the entrance when it's shown taking off and compared to the distance it travels when escaping the shuttle bay.
just pledged for your kickstarter. I hope you can make this. This film looks like it'd be really cool, and I love art for the sake of art. I just discovered your channel today, and I look forward to watching more of your videos
Always enjoy the details you bring to light from Star Wars! God Bless!
I'd like to think I've been a fairly big Star Wars fan my whole life (30+ years) And I did not notice any of these prior to this video. You rock!
4:46 HELL YES! Some star tours love! god its a god damn tradgedy that they runed the original ride, it felt like Real star wars, lived in and genuine. unlike the "brand experiance" adventures continues is.
When i came across your video i thought "Here goes another video with the same old shit!" But i was pleasantly surprised at the minute details you noticed! Great job!
I loved this so much, every video you make is so fantastic,I will definitely donate as soon as I can!
