Finally a guide I can follow at my own (slow) pace. Thanks!

Are you calling me slow, Prometheus? 👨‍🦽 I am teasing. Thank you. I think about the pace and how hard it is to take it in. Our nature is to do everything as quickly as we can. It is something I have to fight like everybody else.🏃

@@patriotsix5880 Unlike many other tutorial videos on UA-cam, your videos are wonderfully clear and easy to follow. Thanks to you I am well on the way to creating my first scenery for MSFS.

Hi, Congratulations, very good tutorial, clear, precise and above all which does not go very quickly in the explanation and therefore which makes it possible to understand better. Surely in the top 3 of the best SDK tutorials.👍👍👍

I am taking a break from videos because they take so much time. I am trying to get the motivation to continue.

Any chance you could show us how to add frequencies to a newly created airport from scratch, Cheers

      Hello Droning On
I would love to be able to do that, but from what I see, it is not possible. I have gone as far as editing the XMLs to match the format used in Asobo airports. But it still will not work.
Here is my logical reasoning for the anomaly. First, for the frequencies to work, they must be embedded within the Asobo world script. Currently, there are no options to add to the world script through SDK. This is because we work in the community folder, not the official folder or the Asobo world. However, SDK continues to grow and improve so that the SDK may have better options someday.
      Please keep me informed.

Hello Steven. Once again, thanks a lot for investing your time into explaining us how to use SDK. I'm currently trying to edit an Airport near my home to add a helipad to it. All I fly are helicopters so I want to edit a whole list of my favorite airports and places I like to visit on my helis. The problem I need a solution for (this moment) is how to place a helipad figure on top of the tarmac I created with the polygon tool. The helipad wants to go under not on top. I haven't found a way to order these layers as I want. Thanks a lot.

      Hello again, Hector.
The answer will be wordy, but I want to be thorough.
Any texture you add using a polygon will cover runways, taxiways, ETC. So, when you work with textures, you can overlay textures on top of added surfaces by raising the priority of the top texture. Unfortunately, this does not work for runways and taxiways, and I will include helipads in the mix. So what is the solution?
There are a couple of options:
You can add the helipad and then build the polygon around the helipad.
I made a video where I created a fictional airport in a rural area covering homes and other geographies.
Next, I had to redo the earth textures to cover the areal images on the ground.
To do this, I had to work tediously around all the runways, tarmacs, and taxiways.
The easiest thing to do is to use helipad models with collision materials. In other words, the helipad can be visible on top of the tarmac, and you can land on the helipad without passing through the pad. I made a video dedicated to heli flyers. I use a module that you can find on Flightsim. for free. Here is the video, and you will find the helipad mod in the description below the video. I demonstrate how to add pads on top of buildings in the video. You can land on the helipad, even elevated on top of a building. ua-cam.com/video/3-etvrS7YvY/v-deo.html
Lastly, if you want the helipads to have start locations and show up on the world map where you can build a flight plan in the simulator, here is a way to do that. ua-cam.com/video/UlWiAbhersg/v-deo.html You may have to look at the chapters and find the part that is relevant to you. For example, you should go through the part where you edit the airport, then skip to the section where I add the helipad. The video includes subjects that may be outside of your goal, like redoing runways and taxiways. However, in the video, you will find the section on adding a start point helipad.
If you want to be part of like-minded folks that can help with questions and elevate your game, join my scenery group. We help each other out, and having the ability to share images when asking questions is essential. So, consider this an official invitation from me. 😃facebook.com/groups/788136852324508
Good luck, and please let me know if I can help you further.

Hi Steven. As usual your kind and helpful guidance is greatly appreciated.
I watched the videos and along with your other tips, I was able to crudely locate helipads on some locations. I will revisit them for editing and a finer look.
SDK is a powerful tool but it has a steep learning curve as I don’t find it very intuitive, at least for this old boomer.
I also greatly appreciate your Facebook invitation. I left FB, Tweeter and the rest a few years back. UA-cam is as far as I engage with others on line and only when I find content of value. Maybe someday we’ll meet over coffee or beer.
Best personal regards and keep up your extraordinary UA-cam work.

@@hrbetaI fully understand. There seems to be more harmful than good on social media, but it is up to some good folks to find our space. Well, good luck with the work. SDK isn't intuitive, but it is like everything else. The more you use it, the easier it becomes. Eventually, it starts to make sense.

Could you let me know if you assigned a location for the new scenery folder to go? If so, have you been able to look in the given area? It appears you are looking at a different location. Going through the basics will be helpful if you're working in SDK for the first time. I have included a link to things you need to know for you. ua-cam.com/video/MXPL0n0kA_4/v-deo.html Please let me know how it goes for you. If you already know the basics, we will work this out.
