For me I’ve read the web novel and the anime’s still blown me away, u should read the web/light novel I don’t think it takes the excitement away from the anime but actually makes u enjoy the anime more. This story is insane.
@@yorunoryu4764 true but my reaction to him not saying anything was this: 1: not surprised cuz they seem to be fairly preoccupied with rebuilding their homes. 2: Rudy needed to go through that depression in order to come to terms with his past on his own so he can become motivated and focused on his future. Which is what we saw at the very end as he resolved himself to finding his Mother.
@@Trextem in the note she left it read "The two of us arent well balanced right now. I'm setting off." To us, this seems cruel knowing who Rudy really is, but you have to remember that in the eyes of Eris, Roxy, Paul, and pretty much every other character he has interacted with he is a strong, intelligent, motivated, and capable person. So in Eris's mind, she thought that that one sentence was all that had to be said for Rudy to understand her intentions. She'd have no reason to expect him to fall in a depressed episode as she has no knowledge of his past life/self. Also considering Eris has always been very poor at expressing her thoughts and feelings, it's not hard to see how she thought that what she said on the note was wrong. She actually put a lot of thought into if she should even write a note in he first place but ultimately decided to since she remembered how he was before the displacement in regards to good communication.

I don't think they overestimate him. Based on his actions alone, the only thing keeping him back is himself. Since we watch the series through his POV, we see everything the way he does, and its pretty depressing but hopeful. On the other hand, everybody sees him as a very well mannered person at heart who has the capability of changing the world. That is depression. People around you know who you are based on the most human viewpoint another person can judge you with, people see you by your actions and the way you treat others with the power you have to do those actions. Rudy is a good person at heart and he decides with his heart. (and yes I know he has flaws, the whole point of this series is to explore those flaws and watch as he grows out of those flaws.)
@@rainmanfilms2k118 They do overestimate him quite a lot, because they expect his growth to be exponential like a normal child's would... and even discarding that, they see his magic as all powerfull, and while it can make way more stuff than almost everyone in the world, he's still pretty much useless in person-to-person combat by himself, since almost anyone/ anything at "saint level" fighting can deal with him.
Because unlike most other Isekai, Mushoku doesn't gloss over the "Do-over" part. Majority of Isekai just literally throw everything about the previous life of the character behind and somehow made the MC cookie cutter self-insert character. Mushoku does the opposite. Just because the MC decided to do do over he doesn't just instantly because better. He's still the same trashy human inside and slowly he became better by DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what he did in his previous life. e.g in this episode his previous life decided to do nothing.. while in the new world he decided to walk forward instead. Other example like in Paul reunion in previous life Rudy decided to throw people relation when it doesn't work out.. so he decided to forcefully fix his relationship with Paul who up to that point he thought as more as friend than a father. And this will keep happening in the future where he finally LITERALLY do over everything he did wrong in his previous life and each time the parallel to his previous life is brought up.
Eris being completely composed shouting to the sky she loves Rudeus shows how much he means to her, and how far she's come in terms of character development
I mean the LN tried to hide Sylphys identity with master fritz but it was pretty obvious and even harder to keep a secret in anime form **SPOILER** I hope they dont skip rudy coming to terms with being gay when he thought Sylphy was a guy
I discovered you when Mushoku and Kumo Desu ga Nani Ka first started airing. It was pretty interesting as an LN reader to watch your amazement, your theories, but especially your character and your deep analysis of one of my favourite Light Novel serie's anime adaptation. It felt satisfying watching your vids. It felt fun that, after watching the episode with my friend, I could sit down and watch you, feel the passion in your very words. I discovered new animes because of you, got new perspectives because of you, appreciated the books and the anime even more because of you. Frankly, with my knowledge of the LN for Mushoku, your theories are most of the time, way too accurate. That's almost scary. I'll continue to watch your content because I just enjoy it. Keep up the good work and hope for even better tomorrows.
im actually in tears. ive started reading this way back when its just the web novel. im in my senior high school and had me invested in it. even after i graduated uni and now have a job. they just really gave it life. OSTs, Animation. i get they need to fit it into a very small time of 20+ minutes. and by God they did it masterfully.
my friend also started reading mushoku way back since 2013 hes the one recommended mo to read the novel last year im dying of laughter when he told me the agony he had to endure waiting for the serialization hahaha.

A lil info, Rudeus's VA announced that she'll be leaving the character in future seasons because he'll have a more mature voice. Indicating that they are already at least thinking about/starting the continuation.

A Detail that i loved to see: when Rudeus says in his mind that he needs to save Zenith, hir inner voice is no longer the old rudeus, but the present one, meaning that he is finally moving away from his past self. I think we will only hear his old voice again when he encounters Hitogami from now on
As a source reader, throughout the 2nd part of this season, I was always scratching my head about how they seemingly deliberately cut out stuff that was in the LN and WN versions. But, there was always a pattern to the particular type of material they would cut out. Every single time, the stuff they would cut out were things that give you an idea of Rudy's power scale compared to others in the world. They religiously excluded anything and everything that power scaled Rudy, and the only time they broke this ban on anything from the source material that let us know just how powerful Rudy was turned out to be during the Orsted fight, when he met someone SO far above him there was no way he ever even stood a chance. During that fight, Orsted dropped a line that was supposed to have been said by Kirishiku back in episode 12. It was that line about Rudy having as much mana, if not more, than the Demon God Laplace. The more interesting thing about that dropped line, though, was that they did not just have Kirishiku drop that line. They replaced it with a different line, and they completely did not have to do that. It was the part where her eyes spun like a slot machine and then she looked straight at the camera while stretching her eye and went "huh? What's this? Gross!" I get the impression that this line was probably a deliberate 4th wall break. Basically, the animators giving a nod to the viewers and saying "I know you know the line that's supposed to go here. Keep quiet about it." After that, they go on to cut out 2 more scenes over the course of the 2nd part that are supposed to power-scale Rudy very favorably against the power levels of the world. This is all done in order to cut out a point that would have only been a distraction to the anime only viewers and made them less able to grasp at the real message this 1st part of the story was supposed to get across. Rudy underestimates himself. In fact, he really and legitimately views himself as a weak person who can easily be trampled by anyone. This is why he trains so religiously, as Eris mentioned in her admiration about him. He does not do it because he's disciplined. He does it because he's scared. He's afraid he's going to fail, and drag everyone else down, and then everyone will wind up dead and it will be his fault. Everyone else puts Rudy up on this insanely high pedestal. They do this specifically because they see how powerful and intelligent Rudy is, and how he's always coming up with stuff and always training himself. The exact same behaviors that are expressions of his inner suffering are taken as demonstrations of mastery and brilliance by the rest of the world. In the source material, this dichotomy is demonstrated through Rudy's internal monologue. Source readers get to see Rudy accomplishing great things that were cut from the anime, and we are shown people reacting in ways that show they are beyond impressed. There are people who go past being impressed and into the realm of fearful over just how much Rudy towers over the common people in the world in terms of his power. Rudy is literally the magical equivalent of Ruijerd in terms of overpowered destructive capability, and due to the wider ranged capabilities of magic, this means Rudy could cause far more destruction than Ruijerd ever could should he be so inclined. However, for the source readers, despite having these things demonstrated for us, it all stays in the periphery. We are given Rudy's constant drum-beat of self criticism. His mind always goes back to one thought. In this world, there are people far more powerful than me who could kill me without even batting an eye. In this, he's always thinking about people like Gislane and Ruijerd who are able to take him, individually, out through physical combat. He also thinks back to how his father (a former S-rank adventurer, BTW) was able to knock him out and force him into the cart with Gslane. (We are given Paul's POV just after that fight, BTW. He said he might have lost if he was just a step slower and didn't have the element of surprise.) So, it was something that could be mitigated in the source material. In the anime, though, they had to cut it out completely, otherwise it would only be a distraction. This last episode was essentially them sprinkling back in the perspective of all the good Rudy had been doing and how he was changing people's lives for the better, ignorant to it himself. It gave us just a glimpse of why everyone respects and holds up Rudy so much, when he is looking down on himself. I have already heard there's going to be an OVA which shows 1 of the omitted scenes that power-scales Eris against the world in the form of her goblin slaying adventure. So, totally OP Eris wiping out goblins. There is, of course, more to it than just cutting down goblins like blades of grass. It's this other stuff that got source readers complaining about how it was missing from the anime. I'm hoping the OVA will include more than just this scene so that, now that the vision of season 1 has been fully realized, we can get some more of the stuff that was cut out re-introduced to the anime adaptation.

This actually transcended the light novel, especially that scene with Zenith because in the light novel it almost felt like Rudy wasn't too interested when he decided to go look for her but this made it clear what his mindset was at. 10/10 and also wasn't expecting Sylphs voice to be that deep, she sounds great lol [and makes much more sense now on what happens coming up]

I have to really disagree. The anime is amazing but it is still lacking A LOT compared to the light novel in MANY ways especially with the understanding of all of the characters. The show does a great job at show dont tell but the light novel is still able to give way more important insight into the characters.

I started off anime only, but after the first cour... I had to read the novels. The anime just brings a fresh perspective to the books and both are tremendously excellent. At least for me the anime isn't a step down from the original story, it stands proud in addition and offers a great visualization. As for the 6 sided world, there is an explanation in the books.... sort of. :)
If I REMEMBER correctly the Rudy’s young VA said that she’s passing it on to another one for an older teen Rudy. So I think we WILL get a season 2 it’s just a matter of waiting and time 😭🙏🏻

Rudeus is basically what the majority of introverts are. We are being hard to our own selves without acknowledging what we are to other people. Believe me, I am already 26 y/o and a teacher on top of that, but I still ruminate the same negative feelings from time to time. What makes Rudy different and somehow make him rise from his bed of depression is him having a new aim, a new goal, which is finding the whereabouts of his mother Zenith. I guess we can learn a thing or two from what he did there. If ever we find ourselves lost, just find another goal and aim for it. Personally, it really do works. We introverts just tend to make meaning out of words and gestures, that sometimes, it'll become our own undoing.
I get your point but Rudeus is not an introvert though, His problem is more on depression and psychological traumas. Like you can see how outgoing he is when his Ptsd are not being triggered in anyways. If your looking for an introvert in this show it would be Ruijerd. I'm an introvert myself and have depression but don't think tgat being lost and what not is exclusive to being introverts, since even extroverts expetience those too.
@@Snzn_7 I get your point and I kinda agree. But we have to remember that Rudy from his previous life is an introvert himself (he is a NEET). Even when he was reincarnated. If not because of Roxy's help, he'll just stay like what he was. If the point of being an introvert is not being too talkative, like Rujierd's case, well, that's not the case for all introverts. There are introverts who are on the talkative spectrum, but we only speak when it is really necessary or when we are with people we are comfortable with. Being outgoing doesn't mean you cannot be an introvert, a common stereotype, which when pointed out to me kinda made me felt I am being "stereotyped" coz I am an introvert myself. I teach middle schoolers and I have a loud voice given that I am way too excited to teach my students of everything I know. This is partly coz of my teacher back then who inspired me to become a facilitator of learning like him. But when I am with my colleagues, it is way productive to talk to a wall rather than me. And there is a tendency for me to keep things to myself. Kinda similar to what Rudy did when he has a fight with his father or when Eris left him. Yep, extroverts may experience lose and suffer depression, but they tend to speak it out with other people, like Paul did.
@@angelolorilla2050 extrovert can inhibit the same symptoms as what an extrovert does when in depression though. They also can suddenly just close off to the world when they are down. Its a very tough call to pinpoint things like this but as you said let us not stereotype. Like having been taking coynseling and talking to people with depression being an extrovert or introvert really don't affect much how one ends up during depression and psychosis. Since your overwhelming emotion will make one undergo irrational thinking and act not like themselves at those points. An extrovert can be a NEET too, its like your making it sound like those are introvert exclusive only. Since things like this happens due to external triggers. Even an introvert nor extrovert will have such crisis as long as they don't ecperience such triggers. Even extroverts build walls on things that are touchy for them, they just do it differently. As far as my knowledge on Rudeus life before the isekai shit. The problems shown in the anime mostly are there because of the incident. But Yeah I understand your point now. Even I am real talkative to people I am close. But of course usually their are particular situations that tge introvertness hinders how you express yourself. Like when talking to a particualr person or topic. But Rudeus only show those signs when it is rubbing off his past trauma. And the way he interacts wirh people still the sqme way as how he does for to those close to him. So in my opinion at least judging by the show his ptoblems lie more on his trauma than being an introvert or extrovert. As for Ruijerd he was still like that even way before the Superd cursing thing.

Your points on introvertion is right but your downplaying the effects of depression. And as I said through reading the novel, Rudeus does not display such symptoms before the bullying incident. My point is he is like that because of his trauma, its not innate thing. If we put in depression counceling things its like your saying the problem resides with the kid, and its all on him. Its basically saying the kid is suffering because he is an introvert/extrovert. Which is a big no no. Same thing eith people who are overly talkative they are not actually extroverts but just have manic disorders. And playing it as an extrovert thing won't help them be aware they need ti seek treatment or counseling. Your point is factually right and its a good advice for an introvert but might be an inappropriate one if you apply to a kid with depression. Even the show is aware of this as they use focus on Rudy facing his past trauma that started this all, rather him coping with being an introvert/extrovert.

The scene transition with the ending ost is so amazing. when Rudy goes from taking the first steps back outside then cut to when he’s a kid sitting sadly by himself in the other dimension. He hesitantly decides to get up and open the windows to the outside, and on his face u can see the joy and amazement in his face. Then back to reality he opens his eyes again to the joy of being with Eris and ruijerd. It’s such a perfect fit for this episodes theme of moving forward and taking in the life around u
I was binge reading the light novel since episode 22 and got to volume 10 before episode 23 and I enjoyed every moment of it They dropped so many small details and threw in multiple scenes foreshadowing the story for seasons 2,3,4 if they follow up on the included foreshadows
Absolutely love Eris's character development. From the start she was just a spoiled child who hits everyone she doesn't like. And now she is a warrior that is devoted enough to become stronger for person she loves. Also love how this episode ties everything together, shows all the people that Rudy has left an impact/impression with. And great to see Sylphy (for the second time) in the anime with the new look. No doubt will be getting her story animated in future seasons to come. Been great watching these reviews every week, here's to the next great series.
Rudeus, Eris, and Ruijerd have now separated, each going on their own journey. Each will face their own struggles with Rudeus being the one that will have the greatest development as he will begin his own journey, his own path. Chibi, I highly recommend the novel, I’m reading it while watching the anime and can see the noticeable differences, things included and the things the anime left out, big things in fact. I haven’t been this invested in reading a novel, bought other series before but this is the first time I’ve been so drawn into a series that I didn’t go into the manga but went for the novel. In the end it’s your choice and look forward to what you decide on doing.

Was a cube. Horizons and oceans fit a round world not a square flat one. Sun Rise and Set totally different on a flat place. In effect it rises and sets instantly no real transition. Water and air still must hold in a sphere so anywhere near the edges would have no water and little air. Don't see it working. Have to be explained later.
Chibi- Exactly. I have been so clear about this season of MT being the Tutorial/Prologue. The REAL journey begins now. Rudeus goes from living in that world to being OF that world. Death, joy, fear, friendship, hunger, illness, love, bigotry, tradition, birth, orgasm, loss, bloodlust, betrayal. Rudeus/Japanese NEET has finally gone through enough trials that add up to a LIFE, now he is the adult he has been working towards for TWO lifetimes. He may not be very mature or responsible about everything, but he understands stakes and gains, that which must be fought for and that which must be fought against. Season 2 must happen, otherwise, all of the anime-onlys will have been denied entrance into one of the most powerful and enjoyable stories of our modern weeb world.
we actually missed salphy in a previous episode. the episode in which eris's grandpa was killed salphy was standing in the background or I am just dumb it was someone else.
I think it would've been better if Author showed a more about Rudeus's relationship with Zenith-Greyrat. Author could've shown that as Zenith was skilled to this level:- (1) Intermediate-Rank => Healing & Detoxification Magic (2) Elementary-Rank => Divine-Strike & Barrier-Magic (3) Create Magic-Circles & Scrolls for above Magic This could've shown that Zenith-Greyrat was a former:- (1) S-Rank adventurer with role of Healer/Priest (2) Lateria-Household from Milis Kingdom Zenith-Greyrat should've taught the above skills to Rudeus in Bueina-Village.
Watching an episode of Mushoku Tensei then followed by your review/reaction is the best experience I ever got watching an anime. Even though it's a fantasy, this anime have so many scenarios that hits too close to home for me. No doubt, Mushoku Tensei is now my most favorite anime!
Seeing Rudy get bullied and lock himself up hurted. I know we saw the scene of him strung up before in the first cour, but damn man. The characters and their development in this story are too good.
This episode really showed how far Rudy still has to go in terms of healing his trauma. He's seemed perfectly fine so far in the show after episode 2 because he's been able to lean on other people for support, but they were all crutches. There's nothing wrong with leaning on someone for support, but Rudy never got to the point where he could stand on his own feet by himself, and sure enough when his heart was broken and everyone had left him, he reverted to his NEET ways. Even at the end, when he finally got up and took a step on his own, I don't think he's fully healed yet. He got up because he was able to motivate himself to save Zenith, but he has yet to be able to take a step alone, despite what troubles he may be going through, for the sake of taking a step alone. Also, Roxy's romantic fantasy has to do with being saved from the depths of a labyrinth by a man. Zenith is in a labyrinth city, Roxy knows to go there and Rudy will have to go there eventually to save Zenith himself. I'm just saying.
oddly enough, this episode goes over something a lot later on in the light novel. (Rudy standing up to line cutters leading to him getting beat up. this was brought up in volume 11). But the detail does not spoil the later part.
Let's see in a week whether we'd weet an official announcement. Hopefully when the Eris OVA is released at the latest. Mushoku has its big momentum, and the mobile game is still going so yeah, big crossed fingers.
I really enjoy how they show how everyone is looking forward to the future. Eris is going on an adventure to get stronger, to become Rudy’s protector, like he was her’s. Ruijerd was making a better name for his people, and to help along the way. The people of his home village were trying their best to rebuild it. All of the characters seen before also were looking towards the future, all with roots in Rudy. We get a feeling of joy, knowing that a new beginning will take place. A new start, aka a new season. But, we then realize Rudy doesn’t know any of this. He is stuck in the past. He thinks everyone has abandoned him, and he has no one. He believes Eris left him for god knows what. Ruijerd is already gone. The people of the town are trying to rebuild with his efforts, but they are just clawing away at an empty shell. You realize from his view, the world is stuck in the past, Reflecting on his own past life. This episode was one that was unforgettable, and I have never written something this long because of an anime before, and it feels really good to get off my chest. I really do hope that they come out with a season 2 soon, because this is probably too 3 favorite anime, just from this episode alone!
I just now had the realization, since this is the end of the season, that I don't have any friends who watch this show so whenever I watch these every week it's kinda like having a discussion with a friend. So thanks for that Chibi 👍🏻
Honestly I haven't commented much because I always watch at such a late hour, but these discussion videos and thoughts have always felt the best natural way to finish any episode. You really just made the whole experience and also keep me motivated to continue my own channel. Thank you for all you've done and also yes, I am very very much saddened by leaving the world for now but, truly what an amazing journey, and once again, thank you for making the journey also feel even more complete
one of the few or almost non existing isekais that the mc's past life actually plays a role in his character /story along side youjo senki/saga of tanya the evil , the rest of iskekais completely ignore the mc's past life as if he's turned into a completely different person after being reincarnated.

The first 2 minutes of this just represents my feeling towards this masterpiece, along with Made In Abyss. Both make me want to dive into the manga and light novels, but I know it won’t live up to my expectations from the anime. After watching so much anime I just usually jump to the next one, but this was different. It was special
It was probably pointed out already, but medieval people didn't believe the world is flat. Maybe stone age people. That it was round was already known to ancient sailors, and Eratosthenes proved it by precisely calculating the circumference. The symbol of the medieval Holy Roman Emperor was an apple symbolising the world.
Thank you for saying this. A better equivalent was the misconception of the earth being the center of the universe. The world is flat thing is just annoying to have to hear.

Chibi I picked up light novel #6 last week after episode 22 because I needed to know what happened. I went ahead and read the entire novel from the begining and it was an enjoyable read. This episode did the novel justice as well with its conlcusion. I'm currently on novel # 10 now and can say it has been enjoyable to read just as much as watching the anime. Both forms of media, the book and show bring the world and characters to life in their own special ways. I think this is because the studio that animates Mushoku Tensei puts a lot of passion into their work and you can tell it is almost its own unique narrative of the story. If you want to save yourself to watching the anime only I won't say not to, but this is only the second anime that I have decided to read ahead of the show and I am glad I did. The other was Re Zero and I didn't feel upset with that decision either. Rudeus's journey and the other characters are just so well done that even if I read ahead, I feel like seeing those moments in animation form will only intensify the amazing story that we have here.
Man what a fun journey with this anime. I’ve grown to love it more and more each week and I can’t wait for a 2nd season. Also, if you plan to do something like this again for next seasons anime you should do AOT Final Season
I just finished reading vol. 15 of the LN, and there's only one thing i want to say, be prepared for the biggest and most darkest twist of all. Be prepared my friends, Be prepared.
This series is a joy and undoubtedly has been the best anime of this year. I look forward to its return and continuously following Rudeus on his journey in the light novel until it’s return for season 2!

I completely missed it and I've must have watched that episode like 3 times before, In videogames, you simulate the sky (earth) by stitching 6 textures on all sides and displaying them on the inside of the geometry of a sphere, as a game dev it never crossed my mind he was implying the world was a cube, I took it for granted that it was a sphere, I am MINDBLOWN!.

100% facts right here. As someone who has now experienced both, I can say Novels are just as good, if not better. In my biased opinion, they are better. Biased because I read them before seeing the Anime. But I would NOT trade my experience reading them for the experience of watching them. Not in a million years.

After I finished watching it, it really is that moment when you don't know how to proceed with you life. What to do. We all know that feeling. I really like the anime and it is becoming my favorite one. So well made, a masterpiece.
I read Mushoku Tensei just a little bit before the Anime started. It quickly became my favorite series ever. It has so much heart. It has such a beautiful story of redemption. It has a mature and well thought out outlook on its world and its characters. I really can't be thankful enough that this series that means so much to me is getting such a wonderful adaptation. I really hope we get a season 2 announcement soon as well. Watching your videos on Mushoku Tensei has also really added to the experience. I don't have any IRL friends that have watched or read the series, so its hard to have discussion about it outside of reddit and youtube. Watching your reactions and excitement for each episode has helped make up for that a bit. One final thing, good job on noticing the fact that this world is a cube. The world of Mushoku Tensei is the "six faced world." Its also something that hitogami (the man god) said in episode 21 after Rudeus was made into an Orsted Co. brand donut. One of the major reddit communities goes by "SixFacedWorld" because of this. I like that the animators are adding in subtle world building details like this. I really couldn't be more happy with the quality of this adaptation.
The LN is good but I do recommend you staying anime only if you can hold. It's one of the best done adaptations i've seen and it injects a lot of life and atmosphere into the story. Also yeah, the world is refered to as the "Six faced world" It is dice shaped(Not really a spoiler).
I love the series so much, and I have read the manga, but the chapters only release like once per month and seem so short. I could read the LN, but light novels just doesn’t do it for me like manga and anime does :(

I like to point out how Eris used "Aishiteru" rather than the most common "Suki / Daisuki". Also screaming it to the world without embarrassment, that speaks way too much about how she feels about Rudeus combined with the Myosotis from last episode, pulls my heartstrings in the right way. SPOILERS Also, the fact that she choose Rudeus rather than her soulmate is mindboggling.

Eris is probably the most influenced character simply because of the time they spent together. Its not realy surprising that she'll want to be with him as they grow old. and Eris wasn't realy "choosing" between them. To her Luke wasn't even in the choices, simply because she only meet him at Sharia and she was already married at that point.

A really nice detail I saw in a comment, that I didn’t pick up while watching but definitely could be a foreshadowing is in that zenith dream we see her getting cut by a spindle, and then after that when she’s talking to Rudy there’s this whole stuff about she going to sleep and that Rudy would wake her up, and that could be a parallel with the Sleeping Beauty, maybe she’s in some kind of coma? I loved this detail, and just shows how much thought and care is being put in this anime.

To us, this seems cruel knowing who Rudy really is, but you have to remember that in the eyes of Eris, Roxy, Paul, and pretty much every other character he has interacted with he is a strong, intelligent, motivated, and capable person. So in Eris's mind, she thought that that one sentence was all that had to be said for Rudy to understand her intentions. She'd have no reason to expect him to fall in a depressed episode as she has no knowledge of his past life/self.
Also considering Eris has always been very poor at expressing her thoughts and feelings, it's not hard to see how she thought that what she said on the note was wrong. She actually put a lot of thought into if she should even write a note in he first place but ultimately decided to since she remembered how he was before the displacement in regards to good communication.

I don't think they overestimate him. Based on his actions alone, the only thing keeping him back is himself. Since we watch the series through his POV, we see everything the way he does, and its pretty depressing but hopeful. On the other hand, everybody sees him as a very well mannered person at heart who has the capability of changing the world. That is depression. People around you know who you are based on the most human viewpoint another person can judge you with, people see you by your actions and the way you treat others with the power you have to do those actions. Rudy is a good person at heart and he decides with his heart. (and yes I know he has flaws, the whole point of this series is to explore those flaws and watch as he grows out of those flaws.)

Because unlike most other Isekai, Mushoku doesn't gloss over the "Do-over" part.
Majority of Isekai just literally throw everything about the previous life of the character behind and somehow made the MC cookie cutter self-insert character.
Mushoku does the opposite. Just because the MC decided to do do over he doesn't just instantly because better. He's still the same trashy human inside and slowly he became better by DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what he did in his previous life. e.g in this episode his previous life decided to do nothing.. while in the new world he decided to walk forward instead. Other example like in Paul reunion in previous life Rudy decided to throw people relation when it doesn't work out.. so he decided to forcefully fix his relationship with Paul who up to that point he thought as more as friend than a father.
And this will keep happening in the future where he finally LITERALLY do over everything he did wrong in his previous life and each time the parallel to his previous life is brought up.

It felt satisfying watching your vids. It felt fun that, after watching the episode with my friend, I could sit down and watch you, feel the passion in your very words.
I discovered new animes because of you, got new perspectives because of you, appreciated the books and the anime even more because of you.
Frankly, with my knowledge of the LN for Mushoku, your theories are most of the time, way too accurate. That's almost scary.

im actually in tears. ive started reading this way back when its just the web novel. im in my senior high school and had me invested in it. even after i graduated uni and now have a job. they just really gave it life. OSTs, Animation. i get they need to fit it into a very small time of 20+ minutes. and by God they did it masterfully.
we still have turning point 3 and 4. To look forward to. 4 should mind blowing to anime onlys

A Detail that i loved to see: when Rudeus says in his mind that he needs to save Zenith, hir inner voice is no longer the old rudeus, but the present one, meaning that he is finally moving away from his past self.

As a source reader, throughout the 2nd part of this season, I was always scratching my head about how they seemingly deliberately cut out stuff that was in the LN and WN versions. But, there was always a pattern to the particular type of material they would cut out. Every single time, the stuff they would cut out were things that give you an idea of Rudy's power scale compared to others in the world.
They religiously excluded anything and everything that power scaled Rudy, and the only time they broke this ban on anything from the source material that let us know just how powerful Rudy was turned out to be during the Orsted fight, when he met someone SO far above him there was no way he ever even stood a chance.
During that fight, Orsted dropped a line that was supposed to have been said by Kirishiku back in episode 12. It was that line about Rudy having as much mana, if not more, than the Demon God Laplace. The more interesting thing about that dropped line, though, was that they did not just have Kirishiku drop that line. They replaced it with a different line, and they completely did not have to do that. It was the part where her eyes spun like a slot machine and then she looked straight at the camera while stretching her eye and went "huh? What's this? Gross!"
I get the impression that this line was probably a deliberate 4th wall break. Basically, the animators giving a nod to the viewers and saying "I know you know the line that's supposed to go here. Keep quiet about it."
After that, they go on to cut out 2 more scenes over the course of the 2nd part that are supposed to power-scale Rudy very favorably against the power levels of the world. This is all done in order to cut out a point that would have only been a distraction to the anime only viewers and made them less able to grasp at the real message this 1st part of the story was supposed to get across.
Rudy underestimates himself. In fact, he really and legitimately views himself as a weak person who can easily be trampled by anyone. This is why he trains so religiously, as Eris mentioned in her admiration about him. He does not do it because he's disciplined. He does it because he's scared. He's afraid he's going to fail, and drag everyone else down, and then everyone will wind up dead and it will be his fault.
Everyone else puts Rudy up on this insanely high pedestal. They do this specifically because they see how powerful and intelligent Rudy is, and how he's always coming up with stuff and always training himself. The exact same behaviors that are expressions of his inner suffering are taken as demonstrations of mastery and brilliance by the rest of the world.
In the source material, this dichotomy is demonstrated through Rudy's internal monologue. Source readers get to see Rudy accomplishing great things that were cut from the anime, and we are shown people reacting in ways that show they are beyond impressed. There are people who go past being impressed and into the realm of fearful over just how much Rudy towers over the common people in the world in terms of his power. Rudy is literally the magical equivalent of Ruijerd in terms of overpowered destructive capability, and due to the wider ranged capabilities of magic, this means Rudy could cause far more destruction than Ruijerd ever could should he be so inclined.
However, for the source readers, despite having these things demonstrated for us, it all stays in the periphery. We are given Rudy's constant drum-beat of self criticism. His mind always goes back to one thought. In this world, there are people far more powerful than me who could kill me without even batting an eye. In this, he's always thinking about people like Gislane and Ruijerd who are able to take him, individually, out through physical combat. He also thinks back to how his father (a former S-rank adventurer, BTW) was able to knock him out and force him into the cart with Gslane. (We are given Paul's POV just after that fight, BTW. He said he might have lost if he was just a step slower and didn't have the element of surprise.)
So, it was something that could be mitigated in the source material. In the anime, though, they had to cut it out completely, otherwise it would only be a distraction. This last episode was essentially them sprinkling back in the perspective of all the good Rudy had been doing and how he was changing people's lives for the better, ignorant to it himself. It gave us just a glimpse of why everyone respects and holds up Rudy so much, when he is looking down on himself.
I have already heard there's going to be an OVA which shows 1 of the omitted scenes that power-scales Eris against the world in the form of her goblin slaying adventure. So, totally OP Eris wiping out goblins. There is, of course, more to it than just cutting down goblins like blades of grass. It's this other stuff that got source readers complaining about how it was missing from the anime. I'm hoping the OVA will include more than just this scene so that, now that the vision of season 1 has been fully realized, we can get some more of the stuff that was cut out re-introduced to the anime adaptation.

In LN, it was in vol.1 extra chapter where Zenith said to Rudy "Thank you for being born"
which Rudy replied "Thank you for having me"
This actually transcended the light novel, especially that scene with Zenith because in the light novel it almost felt like Rudy wasn't too interested when he decided to go look for her but this made it clear what his mindset was at. 10/10 and also wasn't expecting Sylphs voice to be that deep, she sounds great lol [and makes much more sense now on what happens coming up]

The anime is amazing but it is still lacking A LOT compared to the light novel in MANY ways especially with the understanding of all of the characters. The show does a great job at show dont tell but the light novel is still able to give way more important insight into the characters.

I started off anime only, but after the first cour... I had to read the novels. The anime just brings a fresh perspective to the books and both are tremendously excellent. At least for me the anime isn't a step down from the original story, it stands proud in addition and offers a great visualization.
As for the 6 sided world, there is an explanation in the books.... sort of. :)
If I REMEMBER correctly the Rudy’s young VA said that she’s passing it on to another one for an older teen Rudy. So I think we WILL get a season 2 it’s just a matter of waiting and time 😭🙏🏻

Rudeus is basically what the majority of introverts are. We are being hard to our own selves without acknowledging what we are to other people. Believe me, I am already 26 y/o and a teacher on top of that, but I still ruminate the same negative feelings from time to time. What makes Rudy different and somehow make him rise from his bed of depression is him having a new aim, a new goal, which is finding the whereabouts of his mother Zenith. I guess we can learn a thing or two from what he did there. If ever we find ourselves lost, just find another goal and aim for it. Personally, it really do works. We introverts just tend to make meaning out of words and gestures, that sometimes, it'll become our own undoing.

@@Snzn_7 I get your point and I kinda agree. But we have to remember that Rudy from his previous life is an introvert himself (he is a NEET). Even when he was reincarnated. If not because of Roxy's help, he'll just stay like what he was. If the point of being an introvert is not being too talkative, like Rujierd's case, well, that's not the case for all introverts. There are introverts who are on the talkative spectrum, but we only speak when it is really necessary or when we are with people we are comfortable with. Being outgoing doesn't mean you cannot be an introvert, a common stereotype, which when pointed out to me kinda made me felt I am being "stereotyped" coz I am an introvert myself. I teach middle schoolers and I have a loud voice given that I am way too excited to teach my students of everything I know. This is partly coz of my teacher back then who inspired me to become a facilitator of learning like him. But when I am with my colleagues, it is way productive to talk to a wall rather than me. And there is a tendency for me to keep things to myself. Kinda similar to what Rudy did when he has a fight with his father or when Eris left him. Yep, extroverts may experience lose and suffer depression, but they tend to speak it out with other people, like Paul did.

Its a very tough call to pinpoint things like this but as you said let us not stereotype. Like having been taking coynseling and talking to people with depression being an extrovert or introvert really don't affect much how one ends up during depression and psychosis. Since your overwhelming emotion will make one undergo irrational thinking and act not like themselves at those points.
An extrovert can be a NEET too, its like your making it sound like those are introvert exclusive only. Since things like this happens due to external triggers. Even an introvert nor extrovert will have such crisis as long as they don't ecperience such triggers.
Even extroverts build walls on things that are touchy for them, they just do it differently.
As far as my knowledge on Rudeus life before the isekai shit. The problems shown in the anime mostly are there because of the incident.
But Yeah I understand your point now. Even I am real talkative to people I am close. But of course usually their are particular situations that tge introvertness hinders how you express yourself. Like when talking to a particualr person or topic.
But Rudeus only show those signs when it is rubbing off his past trauma. And the way he interacts wirh people still the sqme way as how he does for to those close to him.
So in my opinion at least judging by the show his ptoblems lie more on his trauma than being an introvert or extrovert.
As for Ruijerd he was still like that even way before the Superd cursing thing.

The scene transition with the ending ost is so amazing. when Rudy goes from taking the first steps back outside then cut to when he’s a kid sitting sadly by himself in the other dimension. He hesitantly decides to get up and open the windows to the outside, and on his face u can see the joy and amazement in his face. Then back to reality he opens his eyes again to the joy of being with Eris and ruijerd. It’s such a perfect fit for this episodes theme of moving forward and taking in the life around u
Loved seeing Rudeus’s impact on every character shown in this episode and then the cut back to rudeus
I was binge reading the light novel since episode 22 and got to volume 10 before episode 23 and I enjoyed every moment of it
They dropped so many small details and threw in multiple scenes foreshadowing the story for seasons 2,3,4 if they follow up on the included foreshadows
Absolutely love Eris's character development. From the start she was just a spoiled child who hits everyone she doesn't like. And now she is a warrior that is devoted enough to become stronger for person she loves. Also love how this episode ties everything together, shows all the people that Rudy has left an impact/impression with. And great to see Sylphy (for the second time) in the anime with the new look. No doubt will be getting her story animated in future seasons to come.
Been great watching these reviews every week, here's to the next great series.

Eris becoming the harrm king
Rudeus, Eris, and Ruijerd have now separated, each going on their own journey. Each will face their own struggles with Rudeus being the one that will have the greatest development as he will begin his own journey, his own path. Chibi, I highly recommend the novel, I’m reading it while watching the anime and can see the noticeable differences, things included and the things the anime left out, big things in fact. I haven’t been this invested in reading a novel, bought other series before but this is the first time I’ve been so drawn into a series that I didn’t go into the manga but went for the novel. In the end it’s your choice and look forward to what you decide on doing.
I was suggested to read The Beginning after the end or read the Mahnwah. I was not disappointed.

Was a cube. Horizons and oceans fit a round world not a square flat one. Sun Rise and Set totally different on a flat place. In effect it rises and sets instantly no real transition. Water and air still must hold in a sphere so anywhere near the edges would have no water and little air. Don't see it working. Have to be explained later.

The REAL journey begins now. Rudeus goes from living in that world to being OF that world. Death, joy, fear, friendship, hunger, illness, love, bigotry, tradition, birth, orgasm, loss, bloodlust, betrayal. Rudeus/Japanese NEET has finally gone through enough trials that add up to a LIFE, now he is the adult he has been working towards for TWO lifetimes. He may not be very mature or responsible about everything, but he understands stakes and gains, that which must be fought for and that which must be fought against.
Season 2 must happen, otherwise, all of the anime-onlys will have been denied entrance into one of the most powerful and enjoyable stories of our modern weeb world.

I think the Zenith part was the reason he got out. At the start of the episode, he asked what should I do and he got an answer.
I think it would've been better if Author showed a more about Rudeus's relationship with Zenith-Greyrat.
Author could've shown that as Zenith was skilled to this level:-
(1) Intermediate-Rank => Healing & Detoxification Magic
(2) Elementary-Rank => Divine-Strike & Barrier-Magic
(3) Create Magic-Circles & Scrolls for above Magic
This could've shown that Zenith-Greyrat was a former:-
(1) S-Rank adventurer with role of Healer/Priest
(2) Lateria-Household from Milis Kingdom
Zenith-Greyrat should've taught the above skills to Rudeus in Bueina-Village.
this anime is fantastic, waiting to see the season 2 and eventually turning point 3
Watching an episode of Mushoku Tensei then followed by your review/reaction is the best experience I ever got watching an anime. Even though it's a fantasy, this anime have so many scenarios that hits too close to home for me. No doubt, Mushoku Tensei is now my most favorite anime!
Seeing Rudy get bullied and lock himself up hurted. I know we saw the scene of him strung up before in the first cour, but damn man. The characters and their development in this story are too good.
This is sad i want my season 2
This episode really showed how far Rudy still has to go in terms of healing his trauma. He's seemed perfectly fine so far in the show after episode 2 because he's been able to lean on other people for support, but they were all crutches. There's nothing wrong with leaning on someone for support, but Rudy never got to the point where he could stand on his own feet by himself, and sure enough when his heart was broken and everyone had left him, he reverted to his NEET ways. Even at the end, when he finally got up and took a step on his own, I don't think he's fully healed yet. He got up because he was able to motivate himself to save Zenith, but he has yet to be able to take a step alone, despite what troubles he may be going through, for the sake of taking a step alone.
Also, Roxy's romantic fantasy has to do with being saved from the depths of a labyrinth by a man. Zenith is in a labyrinth city, Roxy knows to go there and Rudy will have to go there eventually to save Zenith himself. I'm just saying.
oddly enough, this episode goes over something a lot later on in the light novel. (Rudy standing up to line cutters leading to him getting beat up. this was brought up in volume 11). But the detail does not spoil the later part.

Let's see in a week whether we'd weet an official announcement. Hopefully when the Eris OVA is released at the latest. Mushoku has its big momentum, and the mobile game is still going so yeah, big crossed fingers.
I really enjoy how they show how everyone is looking forward to the future. Eris is going on an adventure to get stronger, to become Rudy’s protector, like he was her’s. Ruijerd was making a better name for his people, and to help along the way. The people of his home village were trying their best to rebuild it. All of the characters seen before also were looking towards the future, all with roots in Rudy. We get a feeling of joy, knowing that a new beginning will take place. A new start, aka a new season. But, we then realize Rudy doesn’t know any of this. He is stuck in the past. He thinks everyone has abandoned him, and he has no one. He believes Eris left him for god knows what. Ruijerd is already gone. The people of the town are trying to rebuild with his efforts, but they are just clawing away at an empty shell. You realize from his view, the world is stuck in the past, Reflecting on his own past life.
This episode was one that was unforgettable, and I have never written something this long because of an anime before, and it feels really good to get off my chest. I really do hope that they come out with a season 2 soon, because this is probably too 3 favorite anime, just from this episode alone!
I just now had the realization, since this is the end of the season, that I don't have any friends who watch this show so whenever I watch these every week it's kinda like having a discussion with a friend. So thanks for that Chibi 👍🏻

one of the few or almost non existing isekais that the mc's past life actually plays a role in his character /story along side youjo senki/saga of tanya the evil , the rest of iskekais completely ignore the mc's past life as if he's turned into a completely different person after being reincarnated.

The first 2 minutes of this just represents my feeling towards this masterpiece, along with Made In Abyss. Both make me want to dive into the manga and light novels, but I know it won’t live up to my expectations from the anime. After watching so much anime I just usually jump to the next one, but this was different. It was special
It was probably pointed out already, but medieval people didn't believe the world is flat. Maybe stone age people. That it was round was already known to ancient sailors, and Eratosthenes proved it by precisely calculating the circumference. The symbol of the medieval Holy Roman Emperor was an apple symbolising the world.
Thank you for saying this. A better equivalent was the misconception of the earth being the center of the universe. The world is flat thing is just annoying to have to hear.

Been waiting on this
Chibi I picked up light novel #6 last week after episode 22 because I needed to know what happened. I went ahead and read the entire novel from the begining and it was an enjoyable read. This episode did the novel justice as well with its conlcusion. I'm currently on novel # 10 now and can say it has been enjoyable to read just as much as watching the anime. Both forms of media, the book and show bring the world and characters to life in their own special ways. I think this is because the studio that animates Mushoku Tensei puts a lot of passion into their work and you can tell it is almost its own unique narrative of the story. If you want to save yourself to watching the anime only I won't say not to, but this is only the second anime that I have decided to read ahead of the show and I am glad I did. The other was Re Zero and I didn't feel upset with that decision either. Rudeus's journey and the other characters are just so well done that even if I read ahead, I feel like seeing those moments in animation form will only intensify the amazing story that we have here.

Oh Damn! I completely missed it and I've must have watched that episode like 3 times before, In videogames, you simulate the sky (earth) by stitching 6 textures on all sides and displaying them on the inside of the geometry of a sphere, as a game dev it never crossed my mind he was implying the world was a cube, I took it for granted that it was a sphere, I am MINDBLOWN!.

As someone who has now experienced both, I can say Novels are just as good, if not better. In my biased opinion, they are better. Biased because I read them before seeing the Anime. But I would NOT trade my experience reading them for the experience of watching them. Not in a million years.
I'm feeling like Eris grabbing for Ruijerd's hands right now, I really don't want it to leave but we can't do anything but watch it go, out of reach. Truly phenomenal series, can't wait for the continuation.

Finished all main volumes a few days ago. Each ep gives so much warmth and epicness at how decent the adaptation is
After I finished watching it, it really is that moment when you don't know how to proceed with you life. What to do. We all know that feeling. I really like the anime and it is becoming my favorite one. So well made, a masterpiece.

I read Mushoku Tensei just a little bit before the Anime started. It quickly became my favorite series ever. It has so much heart. It has such a beautiful story of redemption. It has a mature and well thought out outlook on its world and its characters. I really can't be thankful enough that this series that means so much to me is getting such a wonderful adaptation. I really hope we get a season 2 announcement soon as well.
Watching your videos on Mushoku Tensei has also really added to the experience. I don't have any IRL friends that have watched or read the series, so its hard to have discussion about it outside of reddit and youtube. Watching your reactions and excitement for each episode has helped make up for that a bit.
One final thing, good job on noticing the fact that this world is a cube. The world of Mushoku Tensei is the "six faced world." Its also something that hitogami (the man god) said in episode 21 after Rudeus was made into an Orsted Co. brand donut. One of the major reddit communities goes by "SixFacedWorld" because of this. I like that the animators are adding in subtle world building details like this. I really couldn't be more happy with the quality of this adaptation.
The LN is good but I do recommend you staying anime only if you can hold. It's one of the best done adaptations i've seen and it injects a lot of life and atmosphere into the story.
Also yeah, the world is refered to as the "Six faced world" It is dice shaped(Not really a spoiler).
I honestly forgot about that until Chibi mentioned it. It is important for lore but not for Rudy's journey and experiences.

I love the series so much, and I have read the manga, but the chapters only release like once per month and seem so short. I could read the LN, but light novels just doesn’t do it for me like manga and anime does :(

You mean Luke right? Not realy, people easily change depending on who they hang out with. Eris was with Rudeus throughout her development. Eris is probably the most influenced character simply because of the time they spent together. Its not realy surprising that she'll want to be with him as they grow old.
and Eris wasn't realy "choosing" between them. To her Luke wasn't even in the choices, simply because she only meet him at Sharia and she was already married at that point.

It was never directly said. But it seems that Luke and Ariel had a child, Ariel seemed to keep her relationships a secret. Forgot where I read it though.
Luke's fine, he seemed to realy care about ariel.
A really nice detail I saw in a comment, that I didn’t pick up while watching but definitely could be a foreshadowing is in that zenith dream we see her getting cut by a spindle, and then after that when she’s talking to Rudy there’s this whole stuff about she going to sleep and that Rudy would wake her up, and that could be a parallel with the Sleeping Beauty, maybe she’s in some kind of coma? I loved this detail, and just shows how much thought and care is being put in this anime.
