- In this episode I continue work on the big balloon wall and start blocking it for strength and to provide backing for sheathing to attach to later one. I also show off a new tool that really speeds my process up.

The closer you get to closing it in, the slower it seems to go. A lot of small, but important, steps that most of us never realized. Great job.
Absolutely agree with that, especially once I get to the detailed things like trim and paint
That one 10 1/2” blocking is crooked 😂 kidding. looking great Andrew 👍🏻
Dang it, I'll fix it! 😔
Happy Mother's Day with love from Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia!
Happy mothers day!
Hi, Andrew! Not monotonous! Educational and entertaining!!!
Thank you
The house is coming along.
Andrew your videos are so awesome and very informative KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....The building is looking great.
Thank you
Looking good Andrew I do agree love the video
Thank you for watching
That's a cool tool. Looking good.
Thank you, I love that measuring device!
Hi guys! I’m very happy to see you are moving through getting more green grass. All the effort you put into your pole barn house build will make the finished home that much more enjoyable. And don’t forget the bragging rights. I admire the way you are working through the build issues. I now realize what it takes to build a home. You are amazing and I love the time lapse, very entertaining!
Thank you very much
Ok that makes 3 video's yours have have watch today, and feeling good about your progress
You ever go fishing? That always makes me feel better 😁
You're a little closer everyday. Doing a great job. Hope ya'll have a good evening.
Thank you
You are making a lot of progress on the house, it may not seem like it to you but we can see it with each video!
Yes I know, sometimes you just want the job done 😁
Hey Andrew....looking really good!!
Thank you
Great job!👍
Thank you
My family enjoys watching you build things. The huge walls are inpressive for one person to handle. God bless
Thank you for watching, God bless
I don’t know why it’s 7 pm...I watched with my own eyes and it only took you ten minutes! Lol! Just kidding, of course but I do enjoy watching someone making something out of nothing. You should feel very proud of the job you are doing. If we lived there, I’m sure my hubby would be right there helping. He loves working with wood.
Thank you, yes you caught me, I only worked a little over 10 minutes lol 😁
Thanks for the video😊 God bless❤
Thank you for watching, God bless
Andrew I would invest in a scissor lift purchase it use and then you can sell it when you’re done it would save your back all up and down the standard scaffold you have I know it’s a little bit of an investment but you could sell it when you’re done Work smarter not harder keep it up love your videos
Looks great to me. That is one fine built building. Wish I could afford to hire you to build mine. Noticed you stepping up right leg first a lot. Maybe just stronger leg, hope not injured.
Not injured, on steep inclines I always go one leg at a time. I don't know why 🤷
It also stops the studs from twisting especially for longer studs👍
Yes it does
Great work man! Those shear walls can really be a nightmare! Definitely stronger having plywood perpendicular to the studs, but also not necessary to have the 4' side end on the blocking. As long as your stud layout works for the 8' then you are golden! It's interesting to see the different building codes and things to keep in mind vs building up here in Canada (ex. snow loads lol)
Also wanted to mention that up here we leave about 1/8 gap between sheets (we just use a nail as a spacer) which may help with crazy wind you guys are prone to! 🤙
Should help with expansion and contraction too
Great job.
Thank you
If you want it to stand up in hurricane country area you don't want to go vertical you want to go horizontal it's a lot stronger and we'll stand up to a strong winds better
That's what I keep hearing and what I'm going to do for sure.
Pole barn house looks great. I’m just wondering what is the purpose of making two passes on the radial arm saw?
Usually first light pass let's me see if I'm right on the line and need to adjust. Plus it's easier on the saw, I need a new blade.
@@TKCL that makes sense. You are doing great work on the pole barn house. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
water the seeded areas!!!
Mother nature has been doing that for me. Calling for four days of rain this week
Enjoy watching you work but it makes me tired 😂
Take a nap! 😁
@@TKCL Might just do that but first I have to cook some steaks on the grill for Wife and Daughter for Mothers Day.
That's sounds good!
Don’t put that red clay next to the concrete. It will stain it bad. Put top soil there and then sod over it.
Yes, those lasers are great, just don’t point them at anyone’s eyes. That can be BAD!!
Yep
Good work Andrew! I'd have to have someone explain to me how it matters which direction siding is placed (horizontal or vertical). I don't buy into it mattering. :-)
I've read it numerous times that horizontal or opposite of the studs gives the greatest strength and to stagger the seams. If I am reading code correctly, it is actually required to run this way on a shear wall like my end walls. So engineering is backing up the theory that it is stronger.
@@TKCL 100% agree that siding should be staggered. I can understand the concept that running siding 90° to wall studs would be stronger. See... you sold me! :-) (On an unrelated note, I don't know why you had to breakdown the scaffold to a single stand when you installed the 8 ft and 4 ft blocking. Confused me there... haha I guess it was mainly to get rid of the ratchet straps so you didn't have to fight/trip over them.)
The bars and upper deck supports would be somewhat in the way. It takes about 3 minutes or less to break everything down, so it's not inconvenient.
Maybe some more wood splitting videos 🙄🙄🤔🤔
I need to
