It's so good to hear that there are folks that made it through the storm. We're on the Levy/Marion county line, 20 minutes from the coast. We're in a block home, so we had a house full of people (evacuees) from places like Inglis & Crystal River. Those towns experienced major flooding from the surge. Like y'all, we only had some tree damage. We're in the country, too. We moved to this property about 3 years ago from Hernando Beach. Thankfully, we did. We've been told our old house is completely underwater. Here, our worst damage was to our chicken coop. A tree fell right on top of it. Fortunately, I had brought our chickens inside the house. Our coop is not near as structurally sound as yours. Our chickens would have died as that tree fell right on top of their roost bars. ☹️ Thankfully, I made that decision to bring them in! Glad y'all are good!! Like I said, it's good to hear some good news from fellow Floridians!
Faith and the awesomeness of prayers.!!!! Don't be scared be prepared and making good decisions, will see you through to the other side. God is good. But we must keep those less fortunate in our prayers.!!!!!
Fill the the old trees in with environmentally friendly cement. That's what we used to save an Indian Signal tree from the 1700's. I'm glad your shelter worked out well, and that you didn't sustain any damages to your house or outbuildings.
Wow!!! This is the first video I seen of someone riding that storm out and yet y’all didn’t even receive any structural damage. God was with you and gave you great ideas on your building. Great job!!! Glad you guys are safe. Star link internet system can be a help but usually internet can be restored quickly
Glad you guys are ok. When I saw that Helene was heading into your area was very concerned. Pray for the individuals that did not come through this so well. God bless you and your family.
Before you take the tree down if that's what you plan on doing, use spray foam in the cavity so it don't fill up with rain. Saw it done on another channel and it saved the tree. Just a thought
Your video was great to see all the protective steps you took to stay safe in this hurricane. Very well thought out and prepared for the worst. Thankful you and Tiffany are safe and your dogs.
Oh My Days that sideways driving rain and wind was terrible, so thankful y'all are in as good a shape as you are! As many have mentioned, there's topical products to seal that oak up and it will be OK
You are so blessed. Prayers were answered. Thank you for showing us this video so we could see for ourselves that you and Tiffany were safe (plus Bullet and Ruger).
Excellent video.. My state gets hit with quite a few tornadoes then we are now the new tornado alley.. In my state, there is a concrete company that makes underground sewage tanks.. They make a storm shelter that weighs one ton.. It is a small room with an Solid metal door.. Ventilation opening. I have it near my home so I can run power in it.. I have electrical backup for power source and can keep track of the storm as it crosses over.. I have spent many hour in that room riding out storm.. Videos, such as yours gives people a better perspective of what they can do to protect their families from such storms..
My heart melt when you said that God is good, you are right young man, God is truly Good. God Bless you and your wife and dogs and your chickens 🙏 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thankful that you guys were protected. As for your trees, we painted the inside, filled ours and sealed it and the tree lived no problem. You may want to try it.
I was so scared for you guys. I, too, thought your buildings and home were toast. I also appreciate the update on your parents as I was so concerned about them. A while back, we had a big gust of wind that took our 24-foot-long carport and blew it a couple of hundred feet into a ball. luckily, we got that cut up and hauled away. That wasn't even a storm, just a very strong wind gust. I don't think we'd have come out as luckily as you did had it hit us here in Texas.
Bless you both for getting through it OK. Don’t get too many things out - looks like another storm will be developing in the same area of the Caribbean as Helene did, and may also be headed more or less your way… Stay safe!
That is a great storm shelter!! Glad you are safe but sorry for the loss of the beautiful tree. If it has to come down, maybe you can make a special item from the wood, like a bench, etc.
I want to say that I'm happy to see that there's some people there that know how to build things and manage themselves in a huricane. It's great actually. That being said, hopefully sealing the tree works out fine but, if that doesnt work out then it may just be a sign. It could just be saying that you're ready to move on to bigger things. honestly could be many things but seriously great considering for sure.
Sad to see that oak got damaged, but looks like overall it's good news. Maybe you can put some kind of protective cover on the oak to keep it from filling up with water. Or paint some kind of sealant over the wound.
@@TKCL consider a mesh network system like meshtastic. meshtastic doesn't specifically need the broader internet infrastructure to continue working. Also, if you set things up correctly, there are little to no recurring costs to running meshtastic (unlike internet).
Glad you came through it unscathed. As has been said, fill the Oak cavity with, concrete, just mix some wayerproofer into the mix. I know a number of trees that continued happily with a concrete filler. Good luck

Thankfully, I made that decision to bring them in!
Glad y'all are good!! Like I said, it's good to hear some good news from fellow Floridians!
Happy to hear yall fared as well as you could expect.
Faith and the awesomeness of prayers.!!!!
Don't be scared be prepared and making good decisions, will see you through to the other side. God is good.
But we must keep those less fortunate in our prayers.!!!!!
Amen
So glad you all are safe.
Fill the the old trees in with environmentally friendly cement. That's what we used to save an Indian Signal tree from the 1700's.
I'm glad your shelter worked out well, and that you didn't sustain any damages to your house or outbuildings.
Thank you
Wow!!! This is the first video I seen of someone riding that storm out and yet y’all didn’t even receive any structural damage. God was with you and gave you great ideas on your building. Great job!!! Glad you guys are safe.
Star link internet system can be a help but usually internet can be restored quickly
We got very lucky! Just to our south people lost everything on the coast.
Glad your both safe , along with your animals
Glad you guys are ok. When I saw that Helene was heading into your area was very concerned. Pray for the individuals that did not come through this so well. God bless you and your family.
Amen
Before you take the tree down if that's what you plan on doing, use spray foam in the cavity so it don't fill up with rain. Saw it done on another channel and it saved the tree. Just a thought
I bought sealer
@@TKCLsealer, as well as wrap. Treat by feeding.. hope your able to save the big tree.. We've done a few at our homestead...good luck. Prayers..
Wow~all~machinery~and~boats and vehicles, and nothing happen, you were blessed.
Thankfully yall are safe.
Your video was great to see all the protective steps you took to stay safe in this hurricane. Very well thought out and prepared for the worst. Thankful you and Tiffany are safe and your dogs.
Thank you for watching
Oh My Days that sideways driving rain and wind was terrible, so thankful y'all are in as good a shape as you are! As many have mentioned, there's topical products to seal that oak up and it will be OK
I've already ordered some, hope it works.
You did a fantastic job of preparation!!
We've had a lot of practice over the years and learned from out mistakes.
Glad everything is ok and not much damage.
Love your storm shelter. Looks like your location and buildings came through very well. You were prepared, and you were blessed.
We are very blessed! We tend to overbuild things and prepare for the worse.
I have also thought about using septic tanks for shelters. Take care
Glad you are so well prepared! Lots of planning for something like this. Thanks for the update 👍
My heart melt when you said that God is good, you are right young man, God is truly Good. God Bless you and your wife and dogs and your chickens 🙏 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amen
Thankful that you guys were protected. As for your trees, we painted the inside, filled ours and sealed it and the tree lived no problem. You may want to try it.
Great place you have, and I'm so glad your damage was minimal. Help your neighbors if needed. ❣️
Yes! Thank you! We've already been traveling and helping out. Our community is awesome.

Glad y'all stayed safe. I hope your parents are also doing good. 🙌🙏
Thank goodness you are safe. Everyone needs a storm shelter!
I am so happy that you both and animals are safe. You were in our prayers!!!! Prayers for all of Florida and all states affected. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Thank you so much!
Great to see you're sll ok 👍 😊
I was so scared for you guys. I, too, thought your buildings and home were toast. I also appreciate the update on your parents as I was so concerned about them. A while back, we had a big gust of wind that took our 24-foot-long carport and blew it a couple of hundred feet into a ball. luckily, we got that cut up and hauled away. That wasn't even a storm, just a very strong wind gust. I don't think we'd have come out as luckily as you did had it hit us here in Texas.
How can you possibly be so knowledgeable? Being older, my husband and I just pray, living in the Keys. I just feel inadequate. Bless you!
I just love to learn and try things. After 40 years of doing it, things catch on.
Bless you both for getting through it OK. Don’t get too many things out - looks like another storm will be developing in the same area of the Caribbean as Helene did, and may also be headed more or less your way… Stay safe!
Yep, I'm already watching that one 😔
I still remember watching the video of y'all making this shelter. So glad all is well after Helene!
I knew I would eventually be using it for storms like these.
@@TKCL Absolutely. Thank goodness you don't need to worry about large floods and storm surge there and can ride things out.
I'm glad y'all are okay. I will definitely find that storm shelter video! That eye shifting to the east saved our bacon as well
I added the Playlist to the end of this video.
@@TKCL I appreciate it. Our new place doesn't have a basement so I have been meaning to build a shelter
So glad u guys and family are safe
That is a great storm shelter!! Glad you are safe but sorry for the loss of the beautiful tree. If it has to come down, maybe you can make a special item from the wood, like a bench, etc.
Maybe so, hopefully it survives.
Well done for all the prep work. The shelter even looks good.
Thanks 👍
Prayers for your safety 🙏
All is well, thank you.
You Sir are blessed to have that beauty to ride out the storm next to you !!!
Glad you all are safe and little damage, I love your tree and hope it will make it.
I want to say that I'm happy to see that there's some people there that know how to build things and manage themselves in a huricane. It's great actually. That being said, hopefully sealing the tree works out fine but, if that doesnt work out then it may just be a sign. It could just be saying that you're
ready to move on to bigger things. honestly could be many things but seriously great considering for sure.
Thanks for watching
Sad to see that oak got damaged, but looks like overall it's good news. Maybe you can put some kind of protective cover on the oak to keep it from filling up with water. Or paint some kind of sealant over the wound.
I ordered sealant
So happy for you guys that you are safe and have survived a nasty storm.
We are blessed
You need a water gauge at your new property and of course a camera pointed at it. AKA a large ruler in the river with a camera pointed at it.
When we get internet down there I'll for sure do that.
Good luck
Thank you
Hello Andrew? I am so glad to hear that everyone in your family is extremely safe from this storm man God bless 🙌 you all family & friends . I am so sorry to hear about your mom & dad house Damage but they are here & That's what counts . I am so sorry to hear & see the family tree damage on your Property man . My wife is down there working , my oldest brother is a Insurance Adjuster & he job is down there looking at people house to see how much damage is done to there homes & i should be down there too but i got Second degree sunburn right now again that's is not doing well at all & i had to stay home because I can't drive barefooted 👣 because i got Blisters all over my feet 🦶 & my feet 🦶 are still extremely extremely RED & it still hurts to push down the pedal but i got all 5 of my Truck 🚛 down there now with out me . I had this burn since Labor day weekend holiday from doing a 37 mile kayak camping 🏕 trip with my whole entire family . The sad part about it is that my wife put sunscreen & sunblock all over my body and still got burned . But it hurts me to know that i can't bless my heart to help out in a time of need . You take care buddy & again i am so glad that you & your whole entire family are safe from this storm man .
Ouch! Sunburn is very painful. Burns to the tops of feet are the worst and can be debilitating until it heals. the best thing you can do for them, is take care of you and get better. Your people completely understand, plus you can lend great support to them from where you are! Thank you for how much you are already doing to help!
@@kevin65700 Thanks you so much Kevin I really appreciate that . & you are right man it's very very extremely painful especially for me because I am a big dude 6'3 385Ibs sz15 6E wide feet 🦶 ( which is very very extremely wide feet 🦶 ) with very very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe . I tried to take care of my feet 🦶 before they got burned . My wife put on me all over my body sunblock & sunscreen & I still got burned . My foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots & the only footwear that will barely fit me is flip flops 🩴 which barely & I mean barely fit me because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps & we want kayak camping 🏕 for Labor day weekend holiday . I hope & pray 🙏 that you & your family are doing ok from this storm man . I am praying 🙏 for everyone in Florida right now .
Try a factor 75 next time I used the Baby sunscreen also Clarins in the department stores has great stuff to keep your face from burning or windburn I particularly liked there product that looks like a tube of Vaseline lip gloss it is on a string so you can wear it around you neck. This has been the only thing that kept my face from sunburn or windburns also I am allergic to a lot of sunscreens this was perfect. I really feel for you
Glad to see you all posting and that everything is generally ok. Sorry about the oak. You did a great job preparing for the hurricane. Everything is clearly well built and everything was secure. Great job.
We feel blessed
So glad y’all are okay. We had it horrible in Marion County
So glad to see that ya'll made it throught the storm safely. It is sad to see the mighty oak suffer the damage from the storm, but I agree at the end of the day it is just a tree. we just got a lot of tree debris and limbs down here in pasco county.
Try using fertilome sealer it’s a spray. Try shaping the break then spray several coats.
Shelter is wonderful ❤
We feel blessed to have it
Im glad you are all fine! I remember watching when you built that shelter and people were saying it couldnt hold up to a major storm. It did it with ease.
Definitely tested now! It did good.
