I was touched, not so long ago, by Robert Downey Jr 's oral tribute to Mel Gibson...about Gibson's support and encouragement when Downey was going through some bad stuff. I admire both these guys.

As a proud Black individual, I can confidently say that Robert Downey Jr.'s performance in Tropic Thunder is hands down one of the best comedy movie performances I've ever witnessed. That's what I call real comedy!

He said that he had a gun in his mouth and liked the taste of metal. I can still remember a time when the Oscars were hosted by courteous, professional, highly respected, high caliber, highly talented entertainers - Johnny Carson, Bob Hope, Jack Lemon and Sammy Davis Jr. to name a few. Fast forward and look what we have today. A few words come to mind including callous, insensitive and political puppets. Perhaps I am old and old fashioned in my ways, but I think Hollywood and the Oscars have to seriously rethink these award ceremonies among other things.
