      I'm playing my tiny violin.
Try growing up in South Dallas in the 50s,60s and 70s without your drunk dad that abandoned your mom, your sister and me at 3. Living in the poor house, mom working 2 jobs and at one time 3 jobs just to pay the mortgage and buy food and drive in a 55 Plymouth into the 70s. I have zero sympathy for these left wing radical actors who don't know shi* about tough times.

No matter how brilliantly he plays a role, it is the roles that he has been able to show his true personality, and ad-lib is where he truly shines and what makes the audience love him. It would have been a sad loss if he was unable to beat his addictions.

Do you know Iron man is a cartoon character? You don't need to do any acting to be Iron Man you just have to read the comic book that basically is for children between 5 to 12 years old, unfortunately, this genre of movie is another sign of our decaying western culture

Robert Downey Jr. has always been one of my favorite actors. It's Robert's ability to become the character he portrays that draws me to his movies. Just because a movie is crap-can material, (and lately, the crap-can is tipping over) it doesn't mean the actor is bad - and Robert has proven that many times over throughout his career. I can't wait for Robert's next film!

Nobody knows the feeling better than Mel. Nevermind what his views, & despite the fact he claims to hate all English people (I'm English) I've always liked Mel Gubson because even when he relapsed, he always tried to beat his demons, & he reminds me of a rich, successful, much older, racist, anti-semitic, Australian version of me.

Robert Downey Jr. is a true survivor of the Hollywood party scene.
I remember him in the movie Less Than Zero and it was like seeing his young life on screen.
    So no,
never in a zillion years did I think he'd be where he is now.
    In Marvel's
Iron Man of course and now likely to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in the new Oppenheimer movie.
I will be rooting for him as it's pretty remarkable to conquer your demons in Hollywood.

I have to disagree. To all of us Gen X'ers who he was always a movie God to us, we all knew he was better than most of Hollywood which is why we pulled for him when he went through all the addictions and was seen on the News in court...Again. We all pulled for him and nobody had a bad word to say about him, at least in my generation. I knew he'd make it, I really did. We are the latch key generation and survivors.

✨🎬💫 I absolutely agree, it’s one of the films with RDJ that made me a fan of his acting. As a young millennial I didn’t see many of his earlier acting roles as I was born in the late eighties. The Judge also made me weep as someone who loss my dad & recently not too long ago my beloved adopted mom. 😥💔😢 I connected to the story of The Judge in someway it was the first film of Robert Duvall I’ve also seen. A moving story, film, & ending credits song from Willie Nelson. ❤️‍🩹🙏🏾😢 I miss my beloved father, so much as an adoptee I never got to truly bond with him fully but he tried to be there. As much as he could, opposite from the women whom brought me into this world.💔 My beloved adopted mom will always be the mom I never had her absence hurts deeply along with other losses & being parentless…😔😢😔 Nevertheless best wishes to Robert Downey continuously.🧡

There, perhaps, are actors who are as talented, but it's hard to see how one could be better. Nothing can stop Robert whether in his personal life or acting. His tenacity, work ethic, how great of an actor he is, his professionalism, his strength, among other great traits he posses, helped him continue doing more films, even when the films he was in when he started out we’re less than stellar. That is absolutely incredible! Most actors would have given up at a few movies not turning out, but he valiantly fought over and over again doing his utmost best in a movie, while trying to get clean and sober. This strong, loving, caring man turned his life around, and when he sang Elton John’s song, I played it over and over again because Robert had come from the ashes and rose back to the top. I cried and cried because he had done it. He got sober and clean, and that is not easy, not even a little. I know firsthand. I’m so proud of RObert for showing the world what he’s made of, how he can work on a film while fighting his demons, bring IronMan to life and into the Marvel universe, and make him a legend. In my eyes, Robert is my hero for all the good he’s done in his life and continues to do so. I hold you in high regard and love you very much Robert! I’m so glad you’re here and fought your way back for people to trust you again. ❤✨🤟🏽♥️

This is a fantastic biography. I don’t normally like this kind of stuff and I always understood that Iron Man rejuvenated his career. Because of this video, I understand I was only partially correct. This is extraordinarily well put together and does a very good job showing his failures as well as his triumphs. Yes, I understand it is all from the perspective that he is a success, but I believe it. Just like Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr. Is a larger than life, flawed human, who has embraced his strengths and succeeded beyond all possible expectations.

Robert Downey, Jr has always had a commanding presence on the screen. He has incredible personal fortitude in overcoming his own personal challenges, which is inspiring to me. I have always rooted for him and am so happy for his successes. His breadth of characters he portrays is amazing. I love how he has invested himself in his family and helping others. Thank you for sharing this positive inspiring video of Robert Downey, Jr.’s life thus far. So refreshing compared to the fictious scandalous scurges of Hollywood bio’s with bad photoshopped images and sensational lies about people who are not alive to defend themselves.

48:00 I've seen this 'interview' before, I give Robert praise for not punching the obnoxious prick thru the wall. Robert gave him several chances, saying that it was a difficult subject and could they just discuses the film, and jerk made it painfully clear that Downey's past was all he came prepared for.

You have a wonderful, engaging style and have made an in-depth biography of one of my favorite actors. One of the times Downey, Jr relapsed & was led into court in prison orange, the judge asked why he kept using drugs despite the serious repercussions. Robert quietly & flatly said, “Judge, that’s just what addicts do.” The only disquieting aspect of this clip is the mispronunciation of names: Greenwich is “gren-itch” not “green-witch”; Cybill Shepherd is “si-bel” not “seye-bel”; Marisa Tomei is “toe-may” not “toe-my” (although you do pronounce it correctly towards the end). And Robert Ebert is “ee-bert” not “ebb-bert”. It’s pretty jarring in an otherwise excellent clip. I learned a lot from this. Thanks!

The robot narrator of this cut-and-paste production is poorly trained. Don't be annoyed... in a few years they'll be able to use anyone's voice, dead or alive, that they can get a recording of, and you'll never know if it's real. (That's why actors and screenwriters are on strike.)

    • @rasten79
      @rasten79 Рік тому +6

@@loopshackr I was wondering if this was even a real person, considering the mispronounced names of well-known people. I could understand if it were someone from another country where English is not their first language, but that wasn't the case here. The only thing that threw me off was when he whispered at one point. If it's a computer-generated voice, it sounds pretty good. However, one would expect them to fix such simple issues, and the uploader could have reviewed and edited the text before posting to ensure the voice pronounced all the names correctly. If it’s a real voice, he should have researched the correct pronunciation of those names. Regardless of whether it's a real or robotic voice, it's lazy not to address something easily correctable before uploading.
The video was good, but the mispronunciations kind of ruin it.
Makes me wonder if it was done on purpose too.

The first time I became aware of Robert Downey Jr. was when I saw him in "Chances Are". At that time, he reminded me of a young Tony Curtis in both looks and acting style. I've been impressed by his work ever since and am so glad his addictions didn't wind up killing him. Despite his joining the Marvel franchise, I have a feeling there's still one more great role (after "Chaplin") waiting for him.

He has been in a lot of movies , less than zero , restoration, natural born killers , kiss kiss bang bang , zodiac , the judge , heart and souls ,the soloist , tropic thunder for which ge was again nominated for Oscar and no doubt Sherlock Holmes were some great performances and also did a lot of supporting roles in many movies. Did chaplin and won Bafta and was nominated for Oscar. when he was struggling with finding roles, he went to do a tv show called ally mcbeal and won Sag and golden globe for just a season in ally mcbeal. He had a lot of potential but wasn't given lead roles with good directors. Did iron man which is arguably the best superhero portrayal of all times. And now thanks to mcu he is now in a nolan movie which could not have been possible if he didn't do iron man coz iron man made him world wide Star. Looking at his carrer arc , it's the one of the best.

His initial arrests in 1996 happened a few weeks after his wife left with their son, a bit of context that always gets left out. In an interview back in the mid 90's, Robert referred to Indio as his " anchor to reality". When he lost his wife and son, he fell apart. He served 6 months in LA county jail, 15 months at Corcoran State prison.
