Runescape's most hated place... and I spent 6 hours here | Unguided #11

- this one starts bad and just gets worse and worse...
Please like and comment if you enjoyed :) it's much appreciated. Thank you!
Welcome back to Unguided, where I'm trying to complete every quest in old school runescape without using a guide, wiki or any plugins. I'll only be using my limited knowledge and in-game learnings. Full rules below.
RULES
- No use of OSRS wiki (or any equivalent) for anything - this includes looking up item spawns, quest guides, boss guides, anything
- No use of any other quest helper sites
- No use of quest helper plugin
CAVEATS
- I love OSRS UA-cam, I might inadvertently learn something I don't know by watching my favourite content creators, but I'm not going to stop watching them so that's just a risk I'm willing to take + it's unlikely going to be relevant for me
- I'm going to try and avoid any spoiler comments. If you can, please try not to help me if there's an episode where I'm stuck on something. I appreciate the sentiment but telling me an item spawn or quest step could spoil the fun :)

The first NPC inside a cave: "This is the furthest I've ever been" "The furthest you've ever been? I can see the door from here mate"...what a roast lol
I love how the story for the underground pass is it makes you twisted and insane, and you spent 2 hours trying to blow up a witch with moonshine.
😂😂😂
"Oh my god was that it the whole time? I was trying to blow up her house" hahahaha
😭😭
That underground pass tile pattern is so lucky.. lol
Exactly, one of my accounts has the same exact tiles. I thought they changed the quest to be easier in that part.
The idea of a guideless run of Underground Pass fills me with as much dread as the actual pass does itself, props to you for sticking it out! This is such a great series, I'm glad I found it.
Thank you!
was definitely feeling the pain on this one!
"Have you seen my kitty?"
"... Imma blow up your house."
"chuck the kitten through the window" yeah would totally not be suspicious, someone yeeting a cat through glass 😂 great episode
One of my lowest moments for sure 😂
to be fair, you do *knock the door* for *some* reason lmao
Ironically as I did Underground Pass on my group iron, I realized it's a big part of what defines OSRS as a game. Long, engaging and nontrivial quests; resource management; high skills give a big advantage; and most concretely, real, unique rewards.
Don't forget getting people shit faced drunk
Ah the underground pass a malicious place, the voice of Ivan had you willing to chuck your cat through a window.
😅😂
*She is looking for her cat* -> "Right, I've got to blow the house up."
This series is so genuinely gripping, since I get to watch your thought process in real time.
That said, I was a bit blown away when you knew you had to get the witch a cat, but somehow, after hours of scouring the Pass, it took you *that* long to find the npc named Witch's Cat.
Other than that, things went surprisingly smoothly compared to past episodes: I don't have any hindsight tips for this episode. You even found the "infinite food supply" in the Dwarven camp if you keep paying 75gp, which is the most frequently unknown bit of the quest.
All that said, for such an infamous quest, I'm a bit surprised at how smoothly it went. I guess it goes to show just how much effort Jagex puts into telling you what to do next when you actually read the books and dialogue, and pay attention to your surroundings.
You and me both 😂 I honestly don’t know why I fixated on the wrong thing for so long
@AlienFoodage Sometimes you just get an idea in your head and you want to follow it through to completion, especially when you don't know what the right answer is for sure. The same mentality was successful for you when trying to figure out how to bless the Saradomin symbol.
I mean I would also want to blow everything up surrounding this quest. I hate this quest with a passion. I completed it 3 days ago after postponing it for literally months on my ironman
just realize that most people tried to do this quest with ....like 40 agility back in the day. the fact you got full graceful before doing this probably saved you much anguish.
Yeah 100%, I’m glad I got that out the way first
Also when song of the elves came out and they made the underground pass an instance, they also made it a lot harder to fail obstacles. It used to be so much worse
I did this with ~20 agility back in the day. Doesn't help either that some agility obstacles have hidden mechanics where run energy % affects success chance. Underground Pass is really janky though because the code is really old. It was one of the most agonizing experiences I had when I was a kid. I often joked with people, would they rather do underground pass with level 1 agility or 1 small favor with no teleports?
@@michaelwoods8299 The whole thing is instanced now? I didn't know that.
@@michaelwoods8299 not seeing anything about them being made easier on the wiki. i seem to recall they made certain obstacles easier (mostly in the temple of light, the hand holds) and due to backlash, that got reverted
I've seen a lot of masochistic ironmen accounts but blindly going through the Underground Pass is something I would never have wished on my enemies. That's a level of self-torture that makes me question my willingness to look at this game ever again.
Well done! Subbed
Haha thank you!
Honestly this is more impressive than a 500 invo TOA run
😂😂 you wait till we’re trying unguided TOA lol
This is a great series. It exemplifies the issue many people have, which is over fixating on a potential solution when a more obvious one is in sight and false associations. That witch, who was looking for her lost cat.. should have shouted out to you 'go find a cat' turned into 'I should blow up her house to distract her' - you thought that because you found that highly flammable/explosive dwarfen brew stuff.
It is something each and everyone one of us does.
Oh man, I'm looking forward to seeing you tackle Mourning's End, now. The light crystal puzzle without a guide is sure going to be.. fun
Personally, Underground Pass was my favourite quest for it's atmosphere and general story - however yes I can see how it's hell without any hints.
The atmosphere is great, really creepy and unsettling. Koftik’s slow decent into madness. It is great, altho yeah without guides can get a bit tedious 😂
Just the thought of doing this quest without guides makes my skin crawl. Jesus Christ dude, that truly is a cavern for the mad.
"How do I kill the unicorn?" *Mouse slowly scrolls towards the boulder*
"Oop that might be it"
Absolute gold, keep it up mate this is a great series
You know, I've got to admit that the witch domestic terrorism arc was some really funny accidental foreshadowing for Regicide.
It's hilarious how tunnel-visioned we can get, ignoring what's right in front of your face on some tangent. This gives me a whole new appreciation for Quest Helper, lol!
You inspired me to start another account on f2p. This series was a golden find. Keep it up!
Thank you!
I hate doing underground pass WITH a guide. I cannot fathom doing it without one. Good looks.
Great series!
Thank you!
Yippy another episode!
dude at 17:35 its feels so good, all that condensed noobing around is delicious like condensed milk. Love the series. I remember what a pain this quest was with a guide. Say... do you think you could include the recordings of running to bank and returning as well as all those other unneeded activities at an increased speed? This video just shines from the excessiveness of running around and clicking everything and being stuck, in a way it captures the spirit of osrs which is grinding the skills over and over, except instead of skills its solving quests by bruteforcing the clicks everywhere. (it's a bit sad too ofcourse but you know)
omfg i feel you at 18:11, holy fucking shit, haha, im sorry man, but i cant help but feel good remembering that this quest was a pain to me, but not as big of a pain as this
Thank you! Haha yeah I definitely tried to include a bit more here. When it adds to the frustration I’ll try to include it but sometimes it might a swift cut. Appreciate the support!
11:17-11:37 makes me laugh too hard. “I did some unspeakable things in here…” 😂😂😂
This is the most authentic series I've seen in a long time and I'm all here for it! You seem like a real nice chill dude and watching you is relaxing and fun! The quality in these videos are awesome and you deserve all the love that's coming your way! Keep this up man, loving the binge so far :) xx
Thanks so much, that really means a lot and I appreciate the support! Glad you’re enjoying
I've seen other content creators make sinilar style content, hwoever, there's varied slightly.
They were brand new to the game. So they had to to learn all of the bits sbout the controls, user interface, mechanics, and hundreds of little tiny details about the game just to play it.
Also, they streamed their gameplay. Which opened them up to live spoilers from people who didnt understand the assignment. People spamming "use the poison on the fish food!" completely ruining the enjoyment for everyone. However, i cant blame their frustration when watching someone blunder for hours, trying to blow up the witches house for example 😂
Love the content man. Keep it up!
Thanks man. Trying to blow up her house will haunt me forever 😂
This one really made me laugh. "I was trying to blow up her house!" Lol
Best atmosphere and writing in the game, surely.
Stumbled into this series late but absolutely loving it! Really captures the feeling of stumbling about confused as a kid
Genuinely had me cracking up at the repeated rope swing fails
This episode made me laugh on many occasions, keep up the good work bro
Thanks man
the fact you did underground pass without a guide or quest helper is insane
"Furthest you've ever been?... you can see the door from here mate" 😂😂😂
Falling into that hole 4 times in a row was jokes 😂
I didn't even know you could fail the rope swing.
I have been loving your series! I cant wait to be caught up!
As frustrating as it must have been to do this quest, it felt so rewarding to see you eventually figure it out and have things start to fall into place after finding the cat.
Genuinely this is my favorite OSRS series at the moment. Please keep at it!
Thank you, that means a lot!
I'm crying laughing at your descent to madness both irl and in game at the same time.
Underground Pass tile maze has the same vibes here as Papyrus' tile maze puzzle trap from undertale lmao
You're so fortunate to do this after song of the elves came out. It used to be much more common to fail obstacles in the undergound pass
the fact that i am binging this series while spam clicking through quests on my uim is fkn poetic.
absolute beast!
Something about picturing him carrying a plank around after that intercontinental plank search makes me chuckle to think about. Like just imagining an adventurer wandering around with a plank over their shoulder at all times 😂
I swear the underground pass grid was a single line for me as well! Maybe they changed it so it only goes in one direction.
This is honestly a really good series. Thank you for making this
13:55 busted out laughing at the idea of tying a rope to a giant bat like you're flying a kite
Hey dude I really appreciate this series, the premise is so stupid silly, but its soooooo good. LMAO. Keep it up.
Haha thank you, I appreciate it!
I did this with low agility and WITH a guide I felt like you felt. This quest is insanity without a guide ahhhhhhhh
Loved this episode man! The fact you was so determined to find a way to blow up the witches house 😂 ahh glad you managed to get through it in the end and kinda smoothly albeit that rock rope swing.
😂😂
Thank you!
That was hilarious. Your conviction that you needed to somehow blow up her house... Fantastic
Great episode. Getting a quest cape unguided is as hard as anything people have done on this game I'm sure, must be so frustrating, no way I could have gotten this far.
So happy you stuck it through. This is just insane
I could feel that rope trap failure lmao amazing series man
the pain in your voice is very telling! 18:40 ouch
I can't believe you got a straight path forward
Also one of the quests that gets mentioned when you ask for good quests. Its memorable. I was stuck trying to light the liquid on back of her house for a while too before finding the cat. Also turns out general store near entrance sells all items you need likes ropes, bow and arrows.
I don't comment often on youtube videos, but I'm thoroughly enjoying your series! Cheers
Thank you! I really appreciate the support. Glad you’re enjoying the series
"I can't walk through there because well...look at it". I'm thinking the exact same thing while looking at the pool of bubbling toxic sludge.
“I did spend an hour trying to blow up a house when all I had to do was pick up a cat”, that is a great out of context quote.
This has to be my current favorite runescape series. I would always joke around online about how difficult it would be to anything in runescape if we didnt have guides. 😂
always happy to see an upload
*walks straight across the trap floors* "is this meant to happen?" no lmfao that is the luckiest shit Ive ever seen
wow Iban was really getting to you there. all she wanted was a cat but you tried blowing her up
I am getting awful flashbacks of how horrible this was on low agility. I always get mine excessively high before doing this quest again now, my first experience like 17 years ago nearly drove me mad.
"She's looking for a cat" to "I need to burn down her house" is a PREPOSTEROUS logic jump
This quest was the pinnacle of my achievements in Runescape as a kid. I didnt even know about the quest reward, when I got the staff I thought I had unlocked the most powerful weapon in the game, I was so fucking proud.
My underground pass was also a straight line... Except I kept assuming it wouldn't be and worked left to right. It was the 4th tile from the left so I got on, and always tried to go diagonally left instead of straight ahead first
To think I originally did this quest for the first time in classic, a little after release is insane. It was so much more difficult.
I did it with three friends And it took us like 50 hours total.
I used a guide every single time after that.
Witch: "I sure miss my cat"
Unguided: "I probably blow up her house"
Another great video 😊
Thank you!
Unground pass is both my favourite and one of my least favourite quests.
I did it on my ironman when I had 72 agility and I fell in the main cavern area like 15 times. I was so frustrated. The quest itself is sick though.
Really like the series..can't wait to see Mourning's End😅
13:29 "Good luck kitty" 🤣🤣🤣
Definitely has ptsd over planks
Flash backs the entire time
I actually just did this quest for the first time in osrs a few months back and when i hit the tile portion that you have to guess which one to step on... i wasnt paying attention to my qh and just ran straight across... without realizing there was only one set of tiles you can step on... so of course in my way back due to failing the fight... i started falling into the pits until i found the correct path again 😂
i LOVE underground pass, im not kidding either.
What a series
I cant wven imagine doing this without a guild. great work dude awesome commitment
I was just getting ready for bed but I guess I HAVE to watch this now 😂 freaking love this series man
Thanks so much :)
your kitten is very hungry
In several accounts playing through underground pass I have never fallen down the rope jump. Holy... Having all items for 1 trip is huge. Like holy...
The underground pass is frustrating even with the wiki. Can’t imagine doing it blind sir
Super impressive figuring out underground pass, one of my least favourite quests for sure
Yeah this was an awful experience lol, thanks though!
25% of your stress was reduced simply having a straight line on that crossing part.
Loved and hated this quest, I had to go back for a shovel too. Fml.
Underground pass is just peak horrible early 2000s quest design. Back when they thought adding agility obstacles and other things you could fail at random to take damage or lose progress was the best way to make a quest "difficult". It used to be even worse, they removed some obstacles and made the agility challenges easier, plus back in the day people tried this on low agility level since it doesn't have agility requirement and IIRC the in-game quest guide didn't even recommend high agility
Also the part where you can fall from the rope and have to start from the beginning, AND take damage, AND have to walk the unnecessarily long path to the start, AND you lose the rope... just sadistic. The devs really hated the people playing their game back then lmao
Yeah...welcome to the reason why most people wait to do this quest with 70 agility. Sure...you CAN do it at practically any level.
Fun times all around!
Oh and next time if you are having troubles with agility things...try making yourself a summer pie or similar. Boosting agility is always a good thing there.
This is also a great reminder to explore the ENTIRE quest area before trying things. ALWAYS explore the entire area linked with the quest. You might discover things...like a cat.
Lesson learnt for sure in terms of exploring the entire area 😂 I thought I had but I definitely hadn’t lol
Underground is my favorite quest!!
Yeah I think this was why little 2006 me didn't do this quest...
I'm so glad I got 70 agility before doing this on my new ironman
For the algorithm. Good series.
10:47 Hope you're saying that for abandoning your poor little kitten alone in the Underground Pass
Thanks
I just feel asleep during like 5 epsiodes of this, enjoy the ad revenue xD
I cannot believe that you genuinely thought you needed to blow up her house when all you had to do was get her cat back xDDDD
Everybody hates this place but I love it.
The biggest cave system in the game and one hell of a fucking quest. This is truly what quests are supposed to be like in RPGs and especially MMOrpgs where usually they just take the janky and stupid concept of killing X of something and just returning, or being an errand boy for two people that could just spent a little bit of coin on some Chocobo's and do the thing themselves.
Hahaha yeah that was a moment I’d rather forget 😂
Honestly, it was horrible, but that sense of accomplishment was created because traversing that cave was sos difficult. It’s a gaming experience I won’t forget, and there’s not many mmos that have quests like that
i didnt realize how many places in rs look exactly like this thumbnail. i thought it was motherload mine haha
Haha I would never speak ill of motherload mine I love that place
I have to kill the paladins ... How about a pie ? 😂
AINT NO FUCKING WAY YOU GOT A FULL STRAIGHT PATH ON YOUR GUIDELESS
Jokes aside, I really hope that Jagex took some lessons from this on how *not* to design a quest. Did any of the devs feel frustration when playtesting it? Underground Pass is overwhelmingly hated by the playerbase for a reason.
A lot of people love and swear by this quest to be fair.
I’m not one of them though
that was painful to watch, nonetheless I started playing rs3 to do quests without a guide like you
Good luck!
