Beautiful gorge! I was wondering how such a steep-sided feature could hold such still waters…. I suspected a waterfall or dam would be revealed eventually. Paddling in early autumn would be breathtaking! Cheers!
Another fantastic watch Paul 👍 You and Fred make a great team. Beautiful location, looks suitable for the packraft 👌 Good luck for the Loch Sheil return. I hope that you have a great time with the lads mate. Atb, J 👍
Thank you J 👍 yeah nice to have a tandem paddle for a change as well. Packraft would work a treat! The Loch Sheil trip was awesome and we mangaged to get around that pesky headland, so all good. Thanks for watsching, Paul
A up Paul, just ordered my first canoe (coming next week)😃stumbled across one of your videos absolutely loved it ,now on my 3rd and my fiancee said we should do the Scotland trip 🙂👍I might even confess how much my canoe was now to her🤣keep up the good work mate
😂🤣 Nothing better than getting a new canoe! I like to think of it as an investment, with best kind of return...... fun! Thank you for your support and encouragement, it really helps and good luck with the fiancée, Paul
Thanks Kelly, we heard a few cuckoos on route aswell, but the island was alive with birdsong! The song thrush was up especially early to ensure we didn't lie in 😂
Great stuff Paul, looked like a cracking trip. You done well getting the hammock up amongst those trees; it looked less than perfect for setting up! Looking forward to your next adventure mate 👍
Thank you mate. It was great little route! I didn't have the best positioned trees, but it was nice to have the sound of gently trickling of water almost beneath me. Thanks for watching and commenting, Paul
Awesome stuff guys! That gorge was stunning. Respect for admitting your mistake on camera, we are all human, but showing this "weakness" is in fact pure strength, and will inspire others to respect nature as you say. Well done Paul & Fred
Thanks Eze 👍 Thought I'd bring it to attention, as I didn't know. Legally I think you can still paddle it being respectful (don't quote me), but definitely better to do it outside of those dates. If I'd of known I would of waited. Thanks for watching mate and see you soon, Paul
@@christrickett3291 apparently there is another sign a little further up (we'll after we got in though), but I dont think many people paddle the whole route.
What beautiful scenery guys. That's a river I'd love to paddle in the future that's for sure. And that place you pitched up at, stunning. Nice fire on a little beach, you can't beat it. The gorge was stunning wasn't it mate. Great advice at the end re: paddling tines of the year. Thanks Paul and cya Saturday pal 👍
Cheers ant, the gorge was pretty special! I think legally you can still paddle it peacefully, but just not worth the hassle when you're greeted by an upset local like we were. I would of paddled it later if I'd known, it's definitely the best thing to do. Looking forward to it! Be good to meet you, Paul

This looks like a lovely paddle, how many days could you stretch this out over. I loved the animation of the map as well Paul, it must of took some time, but it was brilliant. Love your work mate 👍
Was a really pleasant stretch of river, I can definitely recommend! It was a little stretched for two days to be honest and would be hard to make it last much longer. Glad you appreciated the animation 😁 Take care, Paul
Been looking at getting into this hobby, been doing a few wild camps with the motorbike but it's pretty restrictive as to where to go and looks so much more scenic by canoe. Your videos are very inspirational so in the near future I'll be gearing up for it 👍 keep up the good work
I know what you mean I used to take the bike on camping trips (and loved it) but canoe has to be my favourite way to travel in the outdoors, you can get right in the thick of it, at a nice pace and somehow helps you feel more connected to nature. Thanks for the encouragement, Paul

Hi Paul, very good vid, can you tell me what the start area was and traveling time was on the first day and how far did you travel on the first day please, and also nearest town and village. thanks 👍
Thank you Phillip. If you have a look at the map at 02:45 you can see I marked it all on the map. Can't recall exactly how long the first day was, we didn't set off till around midday and took our time (lunch break aswell), first day was only about 12km. Hope that helps. All the best, Paul
Lovely video. Planning a day trip starting at Stuy later this week but am unfamiliar with the area. May I ask, which way do you recommend going around Eilean Aigas (Aigas Island), it looks on the map like you could go either way. Is it obvious once you're there? Thanks
Hello, the left hand side is the most interesting with its steep gorge walls. This was the first and only time I paddled it, but you can go either side. If I had the time I'd probably do a lap. Hope this helps, all the best, Paul
Paul. Excellent video, thanks for producing it. Where did you launch? and get off the water? Where abouts was the island. Any Grid references that you can help with, would be appreciated. Thanks Jon
Cheers Jon 👍 Launched just west of Cannich and got out on the river left just before the Aigas dam. It didn't come out very clear in the animation (2min 45sec) but I have marked X on the map at the places you asked. If its still not clear let me know. All the best, Paul
