I just can't get over the battery life. I can play my Switch for 6 hours, and even though something like Doom Eternal looks like barf compared to the PC version, I'm too busy having fun playing it to notice. I've heard the Go has a battery life of 1-2 hours while gaming! I can't really justify that as a "portable gaming device", I mean, that's not even a trip to grandma's and back! It seems more like a "transportable gaming device", something you fiddle with while you are on the go but don't really get into playing a game till you can get somewhere and plug it in. Whas is your experience with it? Have you done any long gaming sessions with it outside and on the move?
It's been a year and legion go has refusued to allow third party attachables so its biggest benefit becomes its main weakness. where as steam decks controls are an ocean concerning input customization its something most people overlook or ignore about it.
You spoke about three different handhelds and then final comment was this is my favourite but for someone new to the handhelds I could barely tell which handheld you were talking about, I had to zoom in to work it out.
there I am showing GYRO control so when i move the legion it moves the "left Joystick" without touching it ... moves the aim i suppose is what its doing ... if you have played breath of the wild on switch you know the ball maze puzzle you need to move the switch tilt the maze .. its basically the same concept. i use gyro aiming a lot so its important for me that a handheld has a good grasp on gyro
I'm surprised no one has made small covers that redirect the audio at you, as it wouldn't need to be much and could be just stuck on with double sided tape. I've tried it with a few different things just to see if it improves it, and it really does, just no 3D Printer at the mo to make them (I got a rog ally x to compliment my legion go with the money I put aside for a resin printer). Try just cupping your hand on them and you will hear the difference right away, so it can be easily fixed.

Pretty awesome content right here, I can see this channel having a lot of subscribers in the near future. Awesome work, keep it up! Hope to see more from you, maybe trying out lossless scaling on the various portable consoles. Subbed. Cheers!
The performance drops when plugged in only happens when you're under 20% battery and playing on Custom TDP. When this happens, I change my TDP from Custom (30W) to Performance (25W), and the issue instantly resolves without having to unplug.
You think you can help me? rog ally x or legion go? the legion go is 838$ and the ally x is 1024$ i came from the steam deck oled but it gave me eye strain and headache due to the pwm flicker
we just put out a video on the rog ally x we just got. but the bench marking will be in the next one but from what i can see the rog ally X is a real contender for best handheld
I have a Legion Go. I also have a Steam Deck and I had an ROG Ally. I use my Legion Go just because of the screen size. I love having the 8.8” screen on the Legion Go. I have a tough time playing on smaller screens now.
The Legion looks promising but the OLED steam deck just seems way more simple to what i personally want. Although that huge screen on the legion is amazing as well. They did make the OLED steam deck screen bigger but the one thing that makes me upset is the price of the Legion. That price of the Legion is ABSURD! it's almost the exact same prince as TWO playstation 5's but being able to detach the controllers is nostalgic to the Ninendo switch & kinda wish the steam deck's analog stick lit up like the legion or ROG Ally. I think i'm going with the zaddy steam deck but omg i've never been more confused! 😭
…nah…windows does not ruin lenovo legion go…i hate windows but love my legion go together with its windows 11…legion go is designed inside out - up and down for windows 11…and windows 11 has never worked so well on a handheld as it does on legion go…so…nah…windows does not ruin lenovo legion go…
I almost got the Legion Go, but then got the Oled and I don't regret it at all. The Deck doesn't need to play those high end games because I can play them between the PS5 and gaming laptop, so I just need the console experience and Steam as the main system is amazing (so many deals to build up my library coming only from console). Plus I don't need another PC or heavy handheld that gets uncomfortable quickly, so the Deck is perfect but those who enjoy the Legion go I am happy for and that they don't have a bad experience while gaming (would not wish that on anyone).
4 things legion go needs - 32Gb RAM , its a must to have something like 24Gb ram + 8Gb vram setup - bigger battery - we saw how it helped rog ally x - vrr screen - do i need to explain why? - 2280 SSD so upgrade is smooth and needs no tinkering (mine came with only 512Gb ssd when games take 80Gb on average)
I own a steamdeck OLED and at first I didn't use it much. I also have a beefy PC which I use to play CS2 or AAA titles. But now I've installed about 20 games from my childhood - all from 1990s and 2000s era and I must say that now I love this device, those games look fantastic on that screen and work flawlessly with proton, tbh better than on Windows machine. I also play them with TDP lock at 5W, so battery is great. I wanna also get a Lenovc Legion Go because the fact that you can use it as a tablet and USB4 are strong plus for me and I would use it as a portable CS2 machine. Anyway especially after watching your video I think that SD is far superior to Legion GO in everyday use.
The screen is decent for portable gaming. I used to play apex on the deck and everything shooting at you across the map looked like a single pixel. The legion go screen is definitely a game changer on seeing things from far distances I owned the deck and the go. With the go I'm getting like 110+fps on CS2 low settings connected to a 1080p monitor I used the SD as my bring around and the Go for docking mode mostly Got rid of my gaming laptop cause it drew over 100w of power just to game and the battery lasted only 30minutes...
Comtent suggestiom: review AMD'S AFMF 2 which works on the LeGo now. I own an SD OLED and am considering the upgrade depending on how universal AFMF is.
Bro literally everything you just said is objectively wrong 😂 windows for handheld is the worst thing ever until Microsoft releases a dedicated handheld OS... It's a nightmare to use
I have both. The reason I have both is the Go/Ally can do things the SD can't. That being said, the SD is so easy to use and is the best choice for non tech people. The windows handheld is great but requires a lot of tinkering and is a bit of a project.
I use sleep with button press and it works OK as long as you close all programs first (unable to update some batch issue) if I have a windows login screen issue I just power button back to sleep and power button to wake.

legion go is the best compared with the other handelds. Only downside for me is that you only have the 16gb ram model. 24 or 32gb ram would be awsome because of the shared memory.
this is what makes me confused about deck owners. I want windows because I want to watch Netflix and shows on my go but also play games. steamos is great but you don't need a steam deck for steamos the go has better battery life and way more power at all tdps. just instal steam os on ur go or maybe have both
Steam os is supposed to be easy like a console the amount of messing around with epic games and getting rock star to work for Gta5 took too much effort windows is easier to use for me I'll never go back to steam until launchers are included and anti cheat is sorted but I must admit valve are a fantastic company and really do put in the work for it's users
I ditched my legion go 🤣 its been an expensive leap into handheld gaming, the legion button doesn't work shuts down when it feels like . games run like shit even with lossless scaling and spending time adjusting settings is not what I bought into. so I'm glad to be back to my consoles at least I can plug n play .
I just got my Legion Go two days ago... So far I am not that happy about it, I expected somehow something different. I am now going to try Steam OS on it to check out how that looks like...
Have you considered there might be reason why people like it? Me included. But i think competition is welcomed ofc as it takes prices down. @@g0thp0sed0n8 Get yourself a rog ally z1 extreme. The steam deck is limited. Most games won't run on the Steam deck, but the Nintendo Switch OLED is a great option as well.
From a SteamDeck OLED owner’s perspective: it certainly does not have the internals or screen size and resolution or detachable controls of the Legion Go, but it certainly still beats it on many fronts: optimized OS, reliability (especially as regards those detachable controllers-I’ve owned a Switch, and know how that goes), front-facing speakers, weight, ergonomics, portability (that larger form factor certainly makes it less portable, and at 8+ inches, I might as well get an external display, but I own an iPad mini, and shelved my iPad Pro due to size and heft). Granted, all this is still subjective, and the end result (gaming) is what matters. And the sum of its parts, and how I use it on the go, make the SD more sensible to me, when compared to the Legion Go. I don’t play fps games all that much, and I’m fine with holding up my Deck while resting my arms.
@@g0thp0sed0n8I own both a Switch and Steam Deck, and each have their use cases. The Switch is a more easy to use console, and can play any Switch game very easily, with online support too. The Switch also has better battery life. The Steam Deck on the other hand is a Linux PC so it plays PC games well, at about PS4 quality, but also emulates things very well, including Switch games (no online support for emulation though). Also, I have never had a heating problem with the Deck. Just be aware that the Steam Deck may require more setting up to work properly (I had to downgrade my Steam Deck firmware, only supported by LCD models, to get it working properly). In the end, both are good but have their own purposes.
Yeah idk why people won't admit this. I had a steam deck that I had to sell for financial reasons and later was able to get a legion go and absolutely love it. It has the extra power that I was wishing the steam deck had. Plus I'm into emulation and I didn't have to worry about trying to force things to work because of Linux. I'm not hating the steam deck at all I really enjoyed it when I had it and it was a ton of fun, but it's limits were more than I was looking for.
That’s why I installed Bazzite on my lenevo lol ! But lenevo is really more strong in hardware! I’m not playing in 1600p but 1080p 8.8inch in all game !
Steam deck oled and Ally X for me. Like the size of the Steam deck. So Deck for Emulation and lower end games. Ally for anti cheat and more demanding games
That's the issue, why would I pay $400-$600 on a device in modern times for old games and emulators? If I'm paying PS5 console prices and up, I expect this thing to run next gen games a little less better than a next gen console but the fucking Steam Deck can't.

switch games suck, steam os sucks windows privacy invasion sucks. Other than that windows is goat. Steam's device should run a full linux distro out of the box (to move people away from windows, since they spy on everyone etc.) then maybe i'd consider it. But the ONLY thing that sucks on windows, is privacy issues, and their constant updates so they can continue to spy on you or move towards limitations on what you can do. (windows 10 was golden era imho. No blue screens of hell, and not as much lack of control to not be spied on (imho). Steam sucks. it's a full fledged pc, but only has steam unless you do a workaround. no thanks!! If you only game, steam deck is awesome.
"I played anything i wanted" - Total BS. First thing I did was check my library and only about 25% was compatible at all and even things that were compatible would just fail to load. Own a LeGo and an Ally and THANKS to Windows, i can play anything. So you video starts off on the wrong foot straight away.
That's weird. For me 95% of my library is available to play on the Steam Deck. I think it really depends what type of games do you have on your library
oh yes 100% right . many things failed to load, but there are many ways to make the game work on multiple forums. and its not easy but i always found a way. just takes some time
Are you sure it was actually only 25 or its not "deck verified" vast majority of things that aren't 100% confirmed to work by valve still work. Or at most require remapping the controls. Valve also says games don't work if the text is too small for a handheld, they're stingy with their verified. The only things that don't work on Linux are kernel level anti-cheat aka rootkits. They're in a few games that I mostly wouldn't play on a handheld anyway like Valorant and League.
"you go to press the classic start button and the legion space comes up". Brother the start button has never been there. Thats where the select is 2 the audio is pretty bad on the legion. You have to disable the effect they have enabled by default in the Windows setting. But bottom firing speakers are garbage. If youre playing with the device on your chest, its going to be muffled lol. Is the legion perfect? Absolutely not. But windows isnt bad on a handheld. You still have access to not only the legion space for your games, but you still have access to steam big picture which looks EXACTLY like steam os. 3 the controllers auto connect when you simply disconnect them both back to back. They work as a set. They arent joycons. So you need to disconnect both. Youre a tech channel man, how do you get something so simple, so wrong? Ive had issues with the legion but yours here are self inflicted. Yikes
dude, of course they auto connect and work as a set, no one said they don't. but they also work as joy cons and the capabilities are built in. you just have to put the controllers into Bluetooth pairing mode. they just don't advertise it because its hard to connect(or they're afraid Nintendo will throw a lawsuit😅) . but it's fantastic when you wanna play king of fighters with a friend. just because it's kind of a hidden feature doesn't mean you should completely disregard it's existence.

Less than 10% of my handheld gaming is spent navigating the UI. I'll take better gaming performance and game compatibility over a smoother UI every day of the week. I see everyone installing Bazzite, but don't see many keeping it installed. 🤣
Both are good options, I chose deck oled because of the supperior battery and oled screen but this is a good choice too if you care about other things.
@@tlefevre2918 The oled is overrated compared to the Legion's screen, which is massive and crisp graphics.
@@blastu2fool please don’t be toxic, people have different opinions in what they want in a screen. The resolution works perfect since it’s a handheld and I prefer the vibrant colors and true blacks of an oled screen.
@@blastu2foolAn lcd can't compete with a crt or an OLED. There's no overrated about it. But yes, a high resolution OLED handheld would be goated.
@@Rspsand07while it’s true that oled is plain simply better, LeGo screen is actually very vibrant and sharp, if you’d actually see it in person you would most likely agree
New Subscriber! Thanks for the review and funky tweaks. I love my LEG_O.
Thanks for the sub! check out our other handheld videos ! we really appreciate you !
why did you get 2 legion go? saved it for me?
Great video editing!
Glad you think so!
In Legion Space I set up the Back pad buttons for Shift+TAB and F12 for screenshots does it all just fine
Do you have windows set to sleep when pressing the power button? Mine still doesn't turn off. If a game is open the fans never turn off
i only tested this after Downloading the latest update and recording b-roll. ill have to do more research and do a followup video on it
i just hold the power button down and power it off
It's been a year and legion go has refusued to allow third party attachables so its biggest benefit becomes its main weakness. where as steam decks controls are an ocean concerning input customization its something most people overlook or ignore about it.
I have both and the Legion Go's controllers are the weakest part of the package. Seriously disappointing.
Such a beautiful video!
You spoke about three different handhelds and then final comment was this is my favourite but for someone new to the handhelds I could barely tell which handheld you were talking about, I had to zoom in to work it out.
0:25 why do you keep moving it back and forth ?
there I am showing GYRO control so when i move the legion it moves the "left Joystick" without touching it ... moves the aim i suppose is what its doing ... if you have played breath of the wild on switch you know the ball maze puzzle you need to move the switch tilt the maze .. its basically the same concept. i use gyro aiming a lot so its important for me that a handheld has a good grasp on gyro
Try just cupping your hand on them and you will hear the difference right away, so it can be easily fixed.
we actually 3d printed some ! they sucked though maybe we need a different model
Just got my Legion on Friday and man im sooo happy with it, my Alienware m17 r2 died on me about three weeks ago and it was either this or a ps5 and man this thing is way too cool lol got me a Uperfect 2k 144hz monitor jsaux dock and razer mouse and keyboard, new main setup now no doubt
Your review is quite "spot-on" all the main features of Lenovo Legion Go. I've also learned some good point out from your video. Keep up the good work sir 👍.
Thank you !! Glad it was helpful!
Pretty awesome content right here, I can see this channel having a lot of subscribers in the near future. Awesome work, keep it up! Hope to see more from you, maybe trying out lossless scaling on the various portable consoles. Subbed. Cheers!
thank you i really appreciate you
where to get the 3d printed joycon mount
that we actually printed in house just got a file online. but there are many websites that do sell them
The performance drops when plugged in only happens when you're under 20% battery and playing on Custom TDP.
I love the legion go I just need to find a way to deal with the micro stutter 😩
…nah…windows does not ruin lenovo legion go…i hate windows but love my legion go together with its windows 11…legion go is designed inside out - up and down for windows 11…and windows 11 has never worked so well on a handheld as it does on legion go…so…nah…windows does not ruin lenovo legion go…
Just got mine today. Are there any tips on setup ingot micro center upgraded 2TB version
oh man that's awesome! how much was the upgrade if you don't mind me asking?
@@twoBitTech micro center sold unit for 699$
I almost got the Legion Go, but then got the Oled and I don't regret it at all.
4 things legion go needs
- 32Gb RAM , its a must to have something like 24Gb ram + 8Gb vram setup
- bigger battery - we saw how it helped rog ally x
- vrr screen - do i need to explain why?
- 2280 SSD so upgrade is smooth and needs no tinkering (mine came with only 512Gb ssd when games take 80Gb on average)
I've seen many Legion Go reviews and NOBODY had any issues with the controllers.
haha! yeah could be my bad luck I guess lol
Yeah bro I'm not going to lie I've had my legion go for some time now never once had a controller connection issue
"The classic start button". - proceeds to hit the classic select button 😂
On Steam os, be aware that you need to install some apps to change the TDP and to have better performance
The legion go screen is definitely a game changer on seeing things from far distances
I owned the deck and the go. With the go I'm getting like 110+fps on CS2 low settings connected to a 1080p monitor
I used the SD as my bring around and the Go for docking mode mostly
Got rid of my gaming laptop cause it drew over 100w of power just to game and the battery lasted only 30minutes...
Comtent suggestiom: review AMD'S AFMF 2 which works on the LeGo now. I own an SD OLED and am considering the upgrade depending on how universal AFMF is.
Windows is the best thing happened to handhelds and the possibilities with it are limitless. Wipe that screen though.
How is it the best thing? Very power hungry OS that doesn't like being offline, doesn't sound very portable to me
Lol windows is trash
@@hornantuutti5157trash is u
Bro literally everything you just said is objectively wrong 😂 windows for handheld is the worst thing ever until Microsoft releases a dedicated handheld OS... It's a nightmare to use
I have both. The reason I have both is the Go/Ally can do things the SD can't. That being said, the SD is so easy to use and is the best choice for non tech people. The windows handheld is great but requires a lot of tinkering and is a bit of a project.
Awesome video. Best review ever.
What version amd do you have 24.7.1?
yes!
I actually rolled back from adrenaline 27 may version to old 2023 version. Too many games going in and out of focus make my eyes hurt
I use sleep with button press and it works OK as long as you close all programs first (unable to update some batch issue) if I have a windows login screen issue I just power button back to sleep and power button to wake.
it sounds bad because you have to change it from stereo to mono audio, I have a legion go and I’m sorry but it hurts to watch
Your video made me want to buy 2nd Legion Go. 😄
Can you pair a Xbox controller to legion to play ?
That's a stupid question
thats a good question ill have to try it now. it never occurred to me but i guess you can hard wire one for sure i was too preoccupied connecting 4 legion go controllers
@@twoBitTech i don't think that person should own a pc like some shouldnt own a smartphone. YES YOU CAN PAIR ANY XBOX CONTROLLER TO ANY WINDOWS PC.
4:09 du fuq are you talking about. I use gyro with it detached and docked to the breakroom tv all the time.
The gyro works like this just fine and has for its entire release time
I have a switch and I love it to death. I see a lot of the switch in the Legion, so Legion go for me all the way.
Can you please tell me what is that bomberman game?
It's called Super Bomberman R great game!
@@twoBitTech thanks a lot for the reply, I will try it out, to this day I play Super Bomberman 5 from SNES, and everytime people gather to play Tekken 8 I organize small tournaments of Atomic Bomberman ^^
Using playnite as my launcher and its been great for windows. Never need to open launchers or windows. Launchers open and close when opening and closing a game. Also the CSS Loader from steamOS and decky plugins has been ported over to big picture mode.
Very cool video
Using gyro controls while the controllers are connected looks crazy.
Lenovo go a. Detachable joysticks b. Bigger screens c. FPS mode while playing 1st shooter games hmm you do the math Legion go all the way I might return my go and wait for legion go 2 coming out soon
I still preferred the steamdeck it's less complicated and cheaper.. I will just spent my extra money on console or PC then remote play via steamdeck
8:53 I think nintendo joy con would work just as well for this. But more LeGo, more better!1! Also 9:37 this is similar on GPD win Max 2, when I use a charger that does not exactly reach maximum power.
It is also my favorite, I own a Steam deck and an Asus Rog Ally as well, try using a bed mount for It, It's awesome
Very hilarious 😂
I respect everyone choices and don't judge. I just hope the same to me. I have the legion go.l as I am more familiar with windows

Are you able to run Elden Ring? I'm genuinely curious. I'm not trying to be offensive.
I've been out of the pc gaming world since 2016. 😂
So,for me, the fact that there are decent hand-held pcs out now. Is absolutely wild to me!
@@AH-vt8gvyep, Elden ring works well on the deck, go, and the ally lol.
Slick video. Three thumbs up. 👍👍👍 Wait! What?
legion go is the best compared with the other handelds. Only downside for me is that you only have the 16gb ram model. 24 or 32gb ram would be awsome because of the shared memory.
Try the Legion Go with Bazzite (Linux)
I use the Legion Go. It's better than my Steam Deck. Windows is both a positive and negative for it. Bazzite is promising, but it's not there.
Im good for now with the deck but when they come out with gen two of these might switch then
I love the Dechachable Controllers 😅
this is what makes me confused about deck owners.
I'm gonna upgrade my SD to Legion go around couple of month from now and the first thing I'm gonna do is install steam os on it 🤪 bazzite ftw
hahah awesome !
It got me the moment i could use 4 “joycons” to play
Never ever needed to synch my controllers ever...worked since day one, out of the box.
Do you mean just for playing a normal controller or to make them two separate controllers like the switch. if so how did you do it ?
I just got my Legion Go two days ago... So far I am not that happy about it, I expected somehow something different. I am now going to try Steam OS on it to check out how that looks like...
What don't u like?
Noob with poor tastes.
Another steam deck fanboi
Have you considered there might be reason why people like it? Me included.
But i think competition is welcomed ofc as it takes prices down. If legion would have atleast steam os i would probably buy one but as it comes with windows wich is terrible on handheld.. I'll wait for steamdeck 2.
Maybe you are the fanboy that should take a chillpill after all? Take it easy buddy 😉
@@hornantuutti5157 I own a LCD and currently own a OLED, own a ally and GO. If you take all the crap these fanbois make up or crappy comparisons, you'd see how much they are on Valves sack. Enjoy gaming at 720P /800P at 15w . 15 WATT WARRIORS.
I felt the same thing when the Legion Go came out. Watching all the reviews I could, all praising the screen. I really did not like the Steam Deck's LCD and wanted something better. Then I got the Legion Go and enjoyed it for a while. But I ended up buying the Steam Deck OLED and now that is my favorite. The screen is just unmatched for now. I think I just need an OLED, no matter how good an LCD is, it's not good enough for me.
I don't see any mistake here. You ditch a low-end handheld for a high-end handheld PC. If you love PS1 graphics, then send back the high-end legion. I'm sure someone out there is waiting to buy it. Bro is getting paid by steam deck owners. Lol, the steam deck is a low-end handheld.
Why hate that much? Basically like switch and others where you get dedicated OS for those people that dont want to bothered by windows
should i get a steam deck over a switch oled?? i mainly want the switch for friends and cause the detachable controllers, but i heard the steam deck over heats bad
In the end, both are good but have their own purposes.
lol I always see gyro players like your nan playing a platformer and lifting the controller when they jump :D
Steam deck is not better than the Legion, windows is way better for running the triple A titles, steam deck struggles with it
completely agree. in gameplay legion go takes the cake.
Why do ppl keep expecting a console experience on a windows handheld....its not a console
Windows only ruins it if your 5 years old and have never used a computer before
Right😂

that was not the point hahaha but isnt it cool that you can Bluetooth 4 legion controls to one ?
Windows is amazing for gaming ive put it on my steam deck, steam os sucked.
horrible
switch games suck, steam os sucks
windows privacy invasion sucks.
Steam sucks. it's a full fledged pc, but only has steam unless you do a workaround. no thanks!!

Steam deck is for simple folk
Fedelobo gringo
Steam deck is just the best what can I say, with a pair of viture pros you set
yooo we have the xreal airs do you recommend the vitures ?
"you go to press the classic start button and the legion space comes up". Brother the start button has never been there. Thats where the select is
2 the audio is pretty bad on the legion.
BIG MISTAKE to ditch the DECK for the GO !
Had the rog ally og and LOVED IT! Sold that and got the legion and man, this thing is fu king amazing! Ain't no way in HELL I'd go to a steam deck lol. A steam deck is like the apple for gamers. The legion everything is like android. You gotta figure shit out through discord and chats but when you do 😈😈😈😈😈😈
Bro. I have the Legion Go. You hit the nail on the head. Legion Go is the best. The Rog Ally isn't bad either.
True. I had a similar experience. I had a ROG Ally, then purchased a Steam Deck OLED to replace the Ally, and then I saw the Lenovo Legion Go for a good deal. Long story short, I sold the ROG Ally and the Steam Deck OLED. The LeGo with the beautiful screen and the size is just so much more of an immersive experience, and with the handheld companion, it's just a beast.
