Hey Chris- CONGRATS ON OVER 100,000 SUBSCRIBERS. Great interview Michelle with Chef AJ.
Thank you!!
Chef AJ is an inspiration, and Michelle is a natural interviewer. I really enjoyed this episode! 👏👏👏
Thank you! Agreed, Chef AJ is an inspiration 💖
Thank you ❤
Omg, chef AJ is amazing. "Gotta get off the SOFAS!" Are you kidding me? I love her. What a total inspo.
AJ is so inspirational. I found Chef AJ in 2017 and finally grasped calorie density. I finally and totally heard the message about whole Food plant exclusive, no SOFAS [Sugar, Oil, Flour, Alcohol and Salt]. Calorie density made sense to me! Whole plant exclusive eating made sense to me! Living the whole plant foods nutrition style has transformed my life. I will always be grateful to AJ!
Thank you
No salt? The body needs salt.
@@jackschitt6235 No added salt. There's salt in most natural foods. Added salt overwhelms your ability to stop eating when you are full. Compare salted vs unsalted peanuts.
Love chef AJ! Thank you both
We love her too! Thank you for viewing 😍
Thank you :)
@@CHEFAJ The Johnny Carson clip surprised me! I was sure you were Victoria Jackson, until you stood up. I had no idea about your other life as a comedian. Fascinating!
@@michelle_cen You're terrific on camera with everything you do. Like Chris and Chef A.J., you're a natural.
@@karlhungus5554 Thank you so much ♥ Means a lot to me. I was extremely socially anxious & unable to look at a camera, growing up!
Thank you Chris for having Chef AJ! This interview helps me out tremendously! It’s helped me see her in a whole new light . Knowing her story like this in her home like this I love! I think so many vegans think they’re doing the right thing and are still eating salt, oil and sugar and processed foods that are vegan and it really impacts our bodies adversely.
Thanks Kathi. 😁 I'm personally fascinated with the person behind the show and I think Chef AJ's story is amazing.
Thank you Plant Chompers. Two of my favorite people teaching and sharing the truth about health. I really enjoyed this interview. Great job!
Thank you Jennifer 💖 Love you so much! YOU are another plant-based educator and living inspiration!
@@michelle_cen You are way to kind. 🤗I love you and all you stand for. The world is a better place because of people like you, Chef AJ and so many more. I hope to inspire even just a tad of what you do.
Chef A.J,
You are saving animals from being born into an existence of suffering and death. My hat to you. I love what you do and stand for. I wish I could invite you to France.
Michelle is an excellent interviewer
Awww thank you so much 🙏
Agreed!
She is! This interview revealed so many wonderful things about Chef AJ.
I really needed to see this today, thank you!❤ I went WFPB SOS free on my birthday over a year ago and lost a lot of weight while getting healthier. Recently I've been slipping into my past junk food vegan ways. I think I'll put this on a loop 😉 A great reminder that I am not failure, I am human and processed foods are like drugs to me. Real food makes me feel real good 👍. Thanks for reinforcing what I know to be true.❤
It's a journey, Kimberley and you're doing so well based on what you said. I try to listen or watch something nutrition or health-related everyday to keep me focused. As she says, you almost have to be super human to resist all the processed food in our faces all day everyday so I find regularly engaging with healthy people essential (and there's not many in my real life so thank goodness for online humans!). All the best, Jess
Such a great Sunday morning video to watch and help re-energize my optimism. So glad to hear more of Chef AJ's story. Bless her for her work. Thanks to Plant Chompers for doing this interview !!!
Thank you
What a treat to wake up to on a Sunday morning! Can’t wait to watch it!
That's awesome that you did an interview with Chef AJ! I've been on her livestreams a couple of times. She's great!
I didn’t realize she’d been vegan since age 17! ❤️
Congrats on 100K subs, Chris!! This vid is gonna go viral because of these two absolutely charming ladies! Any PC vid with Michelle is bound to do very well, and adding AJ's indomitable spirit, kindness and humor is a winning recipe.
Oh my gosh, I wish I could give you an award for most friendly & supportive comment. Thank you so so much. Chef AJ is a delight to interview.
@@michelle_cen Just your response is enough reward, Michelle!! I'm honored to have given you props. :D

I admire her and am so thankful for what I have learned from her !

AJ is a superstar and my legendary mentor. BIG KISS FOR AJ!!!!!!!!!
😘😘😘 She has helped so many people. All the kisses!!!
Thank you
I loved this interview, Michelle's intro and engagement during the interview, Chris and Mrs Plant Chompers' feigned alarm at being made to eat desserts, all of it! I have admired Chef AJ for years for her indefatigable stamina for healthy eating advocacy and animal advocacy. Thanks so much for posting 🙂
Feigned alarm? 😂Hahaha! Thank you so much for your kind comments 🥰
They stayed for dinner! :)
@@CHEFAJ And it was DIVINE 😍😋🤤
@CHEFAJ And I had a little (okay, moderate) slice (okay, slices) of that AMAZING chocolate pie every day. HEAVEN! ♥️😍😋
I used to watch AJ when she had her cooking show on tv. Got a pressure cooker 6 years ago because of her!
Love my Instant Pots! 🥰 You've followed her work for a long time, that's just incredible 🤩
Thank you. I recently did another pilot: ua-cam.com/video/UyoOv3jZN4c/v-deo.html
Chef AJ is amazing!!! Love her so much. Thanks for the interview with such an amazing person.
Sometimes I wonder if I should be going viral. I most likely would if my FT job didn't consume my life. I lost 120lbs 31 years ago by dropping all meat and dairy , at that time I didn't even know it was called vegan until many years later. I have never gained back any of the weight, I have remained a healthy, thriving vegan well into my 50s. No health issue, exercise is part of my daily life. Not many long term vegans so like to share my story when I can. People always think I'm much younger than I am and in my 50s I don't even have gray hair (the rest of my family went gray in their late 20s). Anyways, enjoyed listening to Chef AJ's journey.
Wow! I think you should be going viral, you definitely know how to "workhardplayharder" 💚 Thank you for sharing your incredible success.
That's incredible! I didn't lose at all when dropping animal products in 1977, only when I gave up processed foods. Is your story available anywhere?
@@CHEFAJ I've really never shared it other than people that have known me all my life. Back in the day the people I worked with watched my transformation. I kept track of my weight each week as I was losing and I kept that notepad :) Over the years I have ate very little processed foods, only when nothing else is an option. And, I've always be "low fat" ever since the Susan Powers (remember her?) she was all about "Fat makes you Fat". haha So, when I lost my weight I dropped animal products, dairy and ate a lot of fruits, veggies, rice, beans, potatoes and just over the last 10 years I've incorporated a little soy products (tempeh / tofu) I also include a little greens with most all my meals.
Ha! I replied from my Chris MacAskill UA-cam account and UA-cam deleted it as spam. What I was asking is can you email me? plantchompers at gmail
Haha, Chris was not shy about taking the cake home! I would have too!
And I had a small slice (okay, maybe moderate) every day (okay, maybe twice a day) and it was gone before I knew it. 😛
This was a very different perspective of Chef AJ and I really appreciate the interview of someone I thought I had come to know already. Good job, Michelle. Fan of yours as well!
Thanks so much Chris! ♥
❤
Chef Aj is such a joy ❤ Love her bubbly positive nature and humour. Her experiences are inspirational. Thanks for a wonderful interview and the privilege to be in her house 🥰
Thank you!!! Her generosity is unparalleled
Michelle you are a great interviewer.
I never new Chef AJ's story. So informative & interesting.
Thanks Chris & congrats on 101k subs.
Thank you so much ♥
❤
Moral of the story: Eat whole vegan foods! ❤
This is such a beautiful interview!! thank you for taking us into your beautiful home♥
I can totally relate with Chef AJ. I went vegan purely for ethical reasons. I happened to go healthy vegan because growing up on Australia of Indian ancestry we ate WFPB mostly with meat only on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Every other day is a religious day in the Hindu culture so we are NOT permitted to hurt living beings therefore, lacto-vegetarianism is permitted. The bonus side effect was that my health rapidly improved on so many medical levels.
I admire Chris and he's a role model of mine in many ways. I like that he has Michelle do so many of the videos on his channel to give a younger person's perspective, though. I'm about the same age as Michelle and I think it's on us to do our part in spreading veganism to our generation, but it's not easy. It feels like there's a bit of a backslide as low-carb / keto / carnivore becomes more popular. I suspect just how popular those diets are, and the implications on our generation, will not be well understood for decades.
It takes a lot of empathy, confidence and curiosity to make space for younger people. It takes a true leader to know when to step aside. Another reason I love Chris.
Agree, especially Steak and Butter gal. Her message is absolutely terrifying and she influences SO many people to eat sticks of butter and gorge on fatty meat. Oof
@@jenbidding4544 I don't know who that is but I'm going to avoid looking it up for my own mental health.
Thank you for such a kind comment. It uplifts me because as you know, there are few people our age who care about long-term health. High five! 💚
35:18 This is very useful information. It is so easy to judge, but very hard to search for information that proves yourself wrong.
I would have never searched for her accident if it was not mentioned.
Thanks! Yes, I really wanted to share how she was in an accident that broke her back and left it rounded. It's not really known.
Thank you for pointing that out. On the anti-vegan channels they say it’s because I’m vegan. I had a horrible accident on 8/6/82 that I’m still having problems from and lost a whole inch of height when it occurred.
@@CHEFAJThere's a beautiful therapy from Australia that I have found quite useful for resetting the nervous system and helping posture and balance through gentle touch and medicinal waits. It's called Bowenwork in the US and Bowtech around the world. The founder Tom Bowen was famous for reversing Asthma in his wife and many others by telling them to cut out all caffeine, even chocolate, and adopt an antiinflammatory diet along with his gentle therapy. I've seen spine problems overcome even years after an injury. And concussion protocol is brilliant stuff. I'm sure there are practitioners in your area.
@@CHEFAJ Anti-vegan will now probably start claiming that your accident was somehow caused by your veganism or something.
One would be tempted to not share any personal information, because it does not seem to matter for anti-vegan arguments, but I am still glad you did.✌️
Thank you Plant Chompers. I will definitely have to check out Chef AJ. Although my vegan health improvement has slowly over ten years inspired members of my family to investigate eating vegan for health, I'm still significantly overweight. Unicycling for 60-90 minutes when I was in my 60's daily did help me get my weight down after several months, but winter happened and the weight came back. ...more fruits, more vegetables and avoiding my own local health food co-op, might help... Chef AJ might be the extra boost needed.
My WFPB vegan friend, nurse Juliana Bianes, unicycles on hiking trails while spinning a rope 🤯 Next time I'm at her house I'm going to learn unicycling. Hugs to you. I'm glad Chef AJ has been helpful 💜

Hilarious quote from Chef AJ: "...the first three letters of funeral is fun." Thanks for sharing another amazing interview!
Great success, My life story is very similar, since going vegan, 4 years ago and following a health plant based diet, My health has massively improved and lost 12 stone in that time. I would never go back. The answer is simple, eat less, move more and go vegan, save yourself and mother earth. I always look forward to the vids, cheers plant chompers

Just Brilliant, thank you.
I also don't get how dog owners aren't all vegan. I mean you see every day how animals are such individuals. They have their own likes/dislikes/quirks, etc... dog owners know this but seem to fall short of applying this to other species.
I don't know how all veterinarians aren't vegan.
@WFPB_4_Life very true. Most vets say they go into that profession because they wanna help animals yet they hurt other animals. It doesn't make any sense at all. We have such ingrained cognitive dissonance in our society.
Thanks Chris!
Thanks for this video which was excellent by the way. Michelle touched on sensitive topics with prescient tact. And why are we spending billions to build a nuclear fusion reactor when there is already a Chef AJ who could literally power and save the world?
Hahaha! It's true! 😅
Yes, snacking is so bad for us. I feel best when I stop eating about 7pm and doing ear again until 4pm - ish. So much more energy. Sustained weight. Plus then when I am truly hungry I enjoy healthy food, salads full of all kinds of produce and some nuts and seeds, and cooked grains, potatoes etc.
Yay! 😊
Great interview!

Thanks Michelle and Plant Chompers! I've been on Chef AJ twice and learned some new interesting facts about her! Keep up the good work. p.s. I watched this while at the True North Health Center, so it was fun to hear it mentioned.
You're very welcome!!
Yes its great to hear from people with real world experience.
In summary the secret to weight loss is caloric density and a plant based diet.
no junk/processed food. No caffeine or sugar
whole foods/no oil - SOS free. Less nuts, seeds and Avo
cook your own food and batch cooking
stick to the food plan
Fasting. sleep 7-8 hrs
and food addiction - bad/tasty food everywhere. All tips aside, this is this is the greatest issue we face on its own. To be clear it takes lifetime to overcome this hurdle.
Since our true goal is to be happy we can laugh more and surround ourselves in bright colours.
My only concern is how healthy is low fat vegan in the long term. Maybe in the short term to drop the pounds. But does the brain need more fat in the long run?
This is great.
❤

Love the get off your SOFAS, Sugar, Oils, Fats, Alcohol and Salt, which also works literally by moving more!
Chef AJ is such a beautiful soul... I love everything about her🥰
A+
Chef AJ is lovely! Wow, that's a lot of candy!
No matter what a person eats... A person could have a food addition. Even if it is whole food... We can be unhealthy with any way of eating. And just to add cardio is important but not as important as not doing weight bearing exercise. we really need to be putting a load on our body.
For some people If they have one slip up then it sets a spiral and eating unhealthy may start again. This has happened to me many times. Just got to stay on track then I'm good. Once I get off track I lose it. Whole food plant-based for the win!
This was great. Chef AJ is fantastic!
Thank you :)
Amazing interview. Love Chef AJ and all she does, she is truly an inspiration!
Thank you
Hey Chris, just came across your channel and really like the depth you go into to discuss the science behind nutrition and longevity. Whilst I get that a whole foods plant based diet (which I am following) is great for longevity, I am still unsure about certain topics in the longevity space. More specifically the relationship between calorie restriction and longevity. In your video on the fasting mimicking diet you noted, for example, that you believe the science behind it. Is that because of the relationship to calorie restriction? It would be great if you could do a video on the subject! I’m really interested in understanding how to live a long healthy life (although if I’d need to do calorie restriction all the time I’m not so sure I would be anymore haha). Unfortunately, I lack the time and scientific background (I studied the humanities) to understand the complexities of such subjects so would thoroughly appreciate your excellent capacity to communicate dense scientific topics to the layman and practical advice on what we can do. Best, S.
Omg I needed to see this, I started to reintroduce fat after listening to Zoe podcasts…. and I have slipped off huge big time, I work on Movie sets and I started being tempted by the craft service table constantly and eat all the crap thats available and I need to do a whole drastic move… the film started 3 weeks ago 36:36 and I already took 7 pounds!!!! 😮 thanks Chef AJ and Plant Choppers ❤
Zoe seems to be a bit of a con these days, they’ve lost sight of science imho and are mainly in pursuit of popularity and cash. Ties to dairy have been mentioned with one of their main scientists.
