Paco de lucia no es comparable, no solo por su super talento brillantisimo sino por algo que lo diferencia del resto: acceso a la inspiración, que no es de esta dimensión. Necesitas cierto refinamiento interior, en tu espíritu y todas tus dimensiones sutiles y células, para poder ser receptáculo de ello. Esto no viene del cerebro, no se construye intelectualmente, ni con todo el conocimiento armónico y melódico del mundo. Es la diferencia. Se llama evolución de conciencia. Muchas técnicas de heavy metal están inspiradas en las técnicas de este autentico dios. Y aun así no se alcanza a completar las transiciones y salvajadas que este tipo hace como si cualquier cosa. Están los mas grandes guitarras como los que mencionas, y por encima de todos ellos esta Paco de Lucia.
No hay palabras para describir un arte excelso, una sensibilidad de artista pleno, quedar hipnotizado por la belleza que fluye como un río incontenible. Paco de Lucía fue y es incomparable y único...

El inconformismo perpetuo de los genios
En alguna ocasión Paco de Lucía iba por la calle, escuchó una guitarra sonando y pensó que el tipo que la tocaba era realmente bueno... hasta que se dio cuenta de que era un disco y de que el que la tocaba era él mismo. Y ya no le pareció tan bueno.
La verdad es que la anécdota tenía su gracia... pero él no lo contaba como algo gracioso sino como una muestra de que nunca estaba satisfecho con lo que él hacía. No lo podía evitar.
Lo suyo era buscar la perfección y no cejar en ello.
En estos videos del amigo KILLOGIC se explica muy bien el porqué era sublime... sólo hay que ver la coordinación de todos sus dedos y la velocidad, el ritmo, la melodía, la perfección de la digitación,... no eran efectos de distorsión, reverberación, electricidad, etc. a partir de una púa sujeta con dos dedos. Era magia con todos los dedos y una caja con seis cuerdas,... sin trucos.
Paco no solo es un ejemplo de técnica, el motor del hombre siempre fue la búsqueda perpetua de mejorar. El hombre practicó día tras día durante décadas buscando mejorar, a pesar de su fama y que no tenía que demostrar nada a nadie el siguió su camino como artista. Paco como guitarrista es legendario sin duda, pero como siempre se vió a si mismo como un alumno que buscaba aprender y no como el increíble maestra que era en su arte.
Cierto. Me sorprendió en un documental que decía que siempre tenía una especie de ansiedad por considerar que nunca lo hacía suficientemente bien.

I will only say this. I saw Paco De Lucia live. After the concert, I went home and put the guitar away for months before having the stomach to hear my own clumsy playing., He was on stage with 2 younger guitarists and all 3 of them saw our jaws drop to the floor.
I bet that was amazing and dont feel bad I got the same feeling just watching him on video...lol
When I feel like that I always think about this: in order to be as good as Paco de Lucía we should practice as much as him practiced and live for the guitar as much as he did, and the fact that only Paco de Lucía could create those songs just like you are the only person capable of creating whatever you have in mind.

Paco no estudió música y no sabía leerla, pero tocó El concierto de Aranjuez con una orquesta Filarmónica sin partitura y sólo se confundió en dos notas. El compositor J. Rodrigo dijo que aún así, era la mejor interpretación de su obra que había oído nunca.

En El Concierto de Aranjuez, Paco puso los nombres de las notas de la partitura a bolígrafo para poder 'leer' la partitura, eso lo confesó él mismo en una entrevista televisada. No le vi tocar notas por error (yo soy guitarrista y estuve años siguiéndole, hasta le vi en directo en Santander) pero si hizo 'extensiones', preciosismos, en relación a la partitura original y de otras interpretaciones de otros guitarristas. Un saludo 👋🏼

@@n_ogu0198 no, de hecho se supone que el concierto de aranjuez la aprendio de oido, en plan otro guitarrista la tocaba y despues él repetia hasta lograr aprederse la partitura.

40 years ago, Paco toured in the USA and left everybody speechless, check his alegrias, la parosa, Monasterio de sal, and bulerias like El moraima, puenas, and fandangos, Manira...
He is more like a novelist than just an instrument player. He knew all the falestas there are since he was little... he comes from a verrry rich tradition where the compas is a discipline that determines the topic of the piece and unity of subject.

Let me suggest you to listen to another master of the spanish classical guitar, his name is 'Narciso Yepes' and the song is 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra' (Memories of the Alhambra), by the way he invented the 10 strings guitar and surely you will find him playing this song with it.

When you say that he uses all his fingers, he also uses all flamenco guitar player techniques.
For example, he not only uses his thumb in one direction like normal players do, the thumb is his pick, he also uses it upwards. The technique is called "alzapua", and it basically turns the thumb into standard pick, and then, he has a pick and 4 fingers.
I saw him live with al di meola and john McLaughlin, two other legends...Paco wiped the floor with them. He was just unbelievable

I'm glad you like Paco. I am from Sevilla. Paco, with his instrument, took flamenco (the blues or country of my land) to another level. He played with his soul. Notice the "pinch" you sometimes feel when listening to some notes in a row...his unique way of pressing. I tell you, with his soul.

I saw Paco's video when I was 15, I was amazed just watching him playing the guitar like a god, so I started to learn flamenco. I'm 23 now and I'm still learning. I've seen hundreds of flamenco players but nothing like Paco. He was in another dimension, top musician and a respectable man. RIP Maestro

I appreciate that! I have been enjoying learning about this legendary icon without a doubt! I wish I would have known about him sooner because I feel like I would have approached music and especially the guitar a lot different than I did! But this has opened up a whole new incredible world I didnt know existed!

He used to say that the real difficult part is on the right hand.......most times understimated because we are focused on chords and changes....but we tend to forget rythm, pace and feeling.

Paco de Lucia" Didnk know how to read or write music, tabletures, etc.... (you can search it online) He always played "by ear" , all his full life. I think this makes even more increidble and magnific as guitarist......... He always played with him heart and soul. Greetings from Seville, Andalusia
If I remember correctly from his biography, he later in life learned sone theory from Al Di Meola and others he collaborated with and learned what it means to improvise. He started using that in the later part of his life and career. What a legend. 1000s could play his songs and never give you the same feel.

He already new how the best way to learn was through Spanish guitar music. Keith venerates Paco. Thank you for keeping Paco the Lucía in our memories. I grew up with his music and to us he is even bigger than a legend.

Greetings Friend, I think you couldn't explain well what you wanted about Paco de Lucia. The Flamenco style and genre has many different techniques and the guitar is different in its structure. It is rougher to play, the electric guitar tends to be softer, and the genre that you know develops differently, but in both forms there are difficulties and level to play.
Paco de Lucia gave the flamenco genre more diversity and development, he made the structure of the genre broader.
Not only that, what you liked is his power to transmit what he does, to interpret and put you inside what he feels. Scales and chords may be the same, but the way of using them is different and it is a good alternative to expand, as long as the differences in the flamenco genre and its techniques are considered.
He uses a Creole guitar and you use an electric guitar.
When I was a child my grandmother would show me all these guitarists from all over the world, she was a big fan of the guitar but never actually played herself. Anyways she to say whenever she heard or introduced me to a guitar player she would say "He really makes the guitar sing" My dumb child brain was just thinking "The guitar is not singing"..lol.. But all these years later hearing not only Paco but the genre in general I get what she was trying to say. I swear she probably had an album of his being the older videos of him looking so familiar

He uses all the fingers of his right hand. The three big ones and the thumb to play and the little finger to tap the box. I'm sure you've noticed. It is one of the peculiarities of flamenco music. The rhythm is marked with the little finger on the box and with one foot on the floor (in this case he didnt´t it). It is pretty difficult. As a Spanish and a guitarist, I have to say that I still haven't been able to learn how to do it.
