    Hi there. I just found your channel while looking for information about the stock zr15s I recently bought. This seems to be nearly if not identical, but I don't see much content on it. Welcome to the channel friend! Ah interesting, the ZR15 does look very similar and it's very likely a spin off company of Innova if I had to guess (common thing I see in the auto industry so they can sell at different customer markets and sometimes different price points) Specially since it uses the Repair 2 Solutions App which is part of Innova. Will take a closer look and see if we can add to the list of scanners to review, stay tuned. Cheers!

Apparently they took the advice to heart and now they include both a manual and a case, yay! Ah regarding renewing the Thinkdiag, I think it's going to come down to how you use the scanner and your budget limits (if any). Remember Innova is fully unlocked, the Thikdiag advanced features are for one car model only and updated only with subscription after expiration. The Innova is fully unlocked but can't do all the functions the Thinkdiag does since it's self contained where the Thinkdiag uses a full App. Here is my full review for the Thinkdiag 2 ua-cam.com/video/rGWSxEXFbOg/v-deo.html and also my video explaining their susbcription model so you can decide ua-cam.com/video/Q3lnh7vYwVw/v-deo.html Cheers!

    Helpful video. Which scanner is best for German cars?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you Cyrus! Ah regarding the best scanner for German vehicles, that will greatly depend on what you are trying to use the scanner for. A basic scanner supporting the major OBD-II communication protocols (ISO 14230-4 KWP2000, 9141-2 IOS, 14229 UDS, Can Bus 15765-4, SAE J1850 VPM & PMW) should be more than enough if all you need is basic diagnostics. Now if you have a rare or unusual car, it would be a good idea to check what OBD2 protocol it uses (and if it even uses OBD2, some older cars use OBD and some a proprietary connector). Now if you need advanced functions or CAN-FD support, then you would want a Bi-Directional scanner, expect price to be much higher but the amount of systems (and the information you can pull from them) this type of scanners can access is much more than a basic scanner can. And I have more scanner reviews on my channel in the playlist "OBD2 Scanner Reviews" if you like to compare them. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video. I'm trying to decide between the 5510 and the 5610. I understand they are identical except the 5610 has the bidirectional capabilities. I just do basic maintenance so wondering if it is worth like the extra $50 or so. Regarding bidirectional. I'm confused about the Active Tests. I'm worried I may make some unintentional changes that could be permanent that would be programmed into the vehicle computer, OR do the active tests only perform temporary functions and changes that are not saved once you exit the scanner?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Місяць тому

      You're welcome! Ah good question, I think it's going to depend on the type of maintenance being performed. Older cars typically do not require the use of a bidirectional scanners (however some older ones while not require one, sometimes having one does help to activate things like the ABS pump for brake bleeding when not using a bleed system etc). So I would say for the price difference being small I would go for as much as I could afford but if you know from the start your vehicles do not require bidirectional control then you could save money by going for a more basic scanner. Cheers!

    • @mountainbiker4450
      @mountainbiker4450 Місяць тому

      @@AlexAutoFun Thanks. And for the Active Tests, are any the changes that can be made there programmed permanently into the vehicle computer, or do any changes revert to factory defaults after disconnecting the scanner? My fear is making some inadvertent change that gets programmed into the vehicle computer. For the ABS, that brings to mind another question. I like to do brake fluid changes by simple gravity drain. So is one application of the 5610 to be able to open the ABS module during the brake fluid change to allow flushing of the module? From what I understand, a simple gravity drain or even other bleeding method with vacuum doesn't open the module to allow it to be flushed. I've heard some folks just stomp on the brakes after a fluid change to sort of flush it a bit but don't now if that works.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Місяць тому

      @mountainbiker4450 You're welcome! Ah for the most part activating components is just that activation. However yes if you go into areas of the scanner that you are not familiar with such a relearning (if supported by your vehicle) it could relearn a particular component. While I'm very careful not to go or activate functions I'm not familiar with, I guess it would be possible if you are going fast or distracted and push a setting that may not do what you want (and most cars are not setup to be restored to factory defaults). I would strongly recommend to refer to the service manual as it usually includes great descriptions of advanced functions that are not very common. Regarding brake bleeding I use a bleeding system called Motive Power Bleeder but yes it can also be done via gravity or good old school pumping (each with it's own dangers LOL) and yes one some cars done by accessing the service function such as ABS bleeding, again I would defer to your service manual to see what it recommends. Cheers!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Mister! This scanner can read OEM data, access ABS, BMS, ECM/ECU/PCM, EPB, SAS, SRS, & TCM modules to activate components & service functions. However actually being able to activate or learn a specific component varies from car to car (vehicles have different levels of control, some allow you to access more things than others) Innova does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to access the specific function you need. Cheers!

An OBD2 scanner is used to read DTC's which can allow a mechanic to narrow down a potential issue (keep in mind a scanner will not tell you what is wrong with a car, it can only tell you it has detected a fault with it) Regarding updates, those are done via the USB port on the unit. Cheers!

      Hi Noodles! Innova coverage checker tool shows it supports your Jeep (assuming it's not diesel) Innova also accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to access a particular function. Cheers!

      Hi Erano! Correct, this scanner supports TCM, if you are looking to access your transmissions. Innova also accepts Vin numbers if you like them to check if the tool can read the system you need on your car in case you wanted to confirm before buying. Hope this helps, Cheers!

    Will this read transmission fluid temperature? Thanks

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi Ricky! Yes the 5610 can read the TCM however regarding being able to read transmission temperature, this will depend on your car if it's equipped with a temperature sensor for this parameter and if it's accessible via the TCM. But the good thing is that Innova accepts VIN numbers so they can confirm if you will be able to access the function you need before you buy. Cheers!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  8 місяців тому

      Hi Eddie! The scanner supports does support TCM however the actual PID's you will be able to read will depend on your car depending on which sensors it has and which of those sensors can communicate to external tools. Innova does accepts VIN #'s if you want them to check if it will be able to access the function you need before buying. Cheers!

    Can this scanner reset windows?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Місяць тому

      Hi Billy! This scanner supports Bi-Directional control primarily for the Powertrain (ECM, TCM, ABS, etc.) Window Reset is usually a function found under BCM and you may need a more advanced scanner like this to access that module ua-cam.com/video/XtsESLy9Zmo/v-deo.html That being said Innova does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if the 5610 will be able to access the specific function you need. Cheers!

    can this tool read transmission oil temperature?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 місяці тому

      Hi Deer! Yes the scanner does support TCM access however actually being able to activate a specific component varies from car to car (vehicles have different levels of control, some allow you to active more things than others and if the vehicle is equipped with the specific sensor you need) Innova does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to access the specific function you need. Cheers!

    I’m considering buying this one. Does it have a misfire monitor?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Рік тому +1

      Hi LiveWeyer! This is most likely going to depend on your vehicle if it has been equipped with the ability to sense misfires (most are but there some exceptions out there) However Innova does accept Vin numbers (which is the best way to confirm if the scanner can do the function you need) they can check and confirm if the scanner will support it or suggest if a different tool model is needed. And I have more OBD2 scanner reviews on my channel in the playlist "OBD2 Scanner Reviews" if you like to compare them. Hope this helps, Cheers!

    • @AlexAutoFun

      @JimmyT81 Hi JimmyT81! There are a lot of variables for determining what feature a scan tool can support, including the Year, Make, Model, Trim (and in some cases manufacturing location or Vin specific). That is the reason I always recommend checking with the scanner manufacturer to ensure the feature you need will be covered as they have a large database to pull this information from and confirm for you (support information also changes often as the tool is updated over time). Hope this helps, Cheers!
