It is crucial to emphasize a gesture that sets a GREAT DIFFERENCE from other brands. Allowing for free updates is something that greatly strengthens and solidifies trust in the brand. I was genuinely surprised, and it brought me great joy to see that in the Arturia Software Center, I could update to version 5 at no cost. Nowadays, being a leading software company that doesn't take advantage of users, as many companies do by adding a couple of features and charging a fortune, is truly commendable. Congratulations to the entire team!

The same can’t be said of Arturia’s V collection, which requires a large payment for each upgrade to keep up with it. All you get are usually an extra plug-in or two and an existing plug-in "rewritten". I stopped upgrading at the last version bump, just can’t afford it.

This free upgrade is unbelievably great. I went from V3 to v5. Wow. Arturia is truly a game changer for musicians and producers.
As a Pigments user, free updates like this are so appreciated. It makes me feel like you aren’t taking advantage of people, and makes me want to use Arturia products more. I own a Microfreak and Keystep 37 and Minilab. By doing things like this, you keep us loyal which is a rare thing in business these days.
Exactly why the Arturia name occupies like 70% of the gear in my setup.
Hardware and Software, they just get the assignment.
Generative sequencer? Audio In? MIND BLOWN.
The way you guys keep updating Pigments, an already phenomenal synth, and giving the upgrades to past owners for free, is absolutely amazing. Says a lot about how great Arturia as a company is.

Just WOW, wow wow... this is the greatest soft synth I've ever heard. Arturia are beyond "on fire" now; they are quickly becoming *the* standard!
All good news, thank you for the update! I use Pigments quite a lot. I find it really excels at ear candy: spot FX in tracks etc. It's also my go-to platform for using my own generated wavetables, which I make in Java code. Pigments makes that really easy.

In my eyes (and ears) Pigments is one of, if not THE best synthesizer ever - from both worlds, hardware and virtual! Its combination of ease of use and sound possibilities at this (almost ridiculously) low price is second to none.
It's my favourite vst but I think that's a bit of a stretch, different tools for different jobs IMO
@@laxplanet6046 True. But there's a new hype about sometimes incredibly expensive hardware synthesizers along with derogatory comments against VST instruments, that I find increasingly annoying. Yes, there are cool hardware synths, but there are also super cool software synths. Pigments, for example.
@HJPhilippi personally I'm happy to produce in the box, synths like Pigments give so many options and great sound but I would love something like a poly brute or EDO super 6 that I can actually get hands on with. And I miss read your comment, I thought you said it was the best, your right it is up there with the best in terms of capability.

The Audio In is a great addition, especially as you can use the FX chains in Pigments and then send it through Fragments or Motions. Looking forward to trying out the new sequencer😀
Absolute banger of an update for free! This is has become my go to synth for everthing but bass and it just keeps getting better
I've used it for 808 style bases, reese bass. It does bass. Maybe Serum has a tighter low end 🤔. What do you use for bass?
@@laxplanet6046 it's got great bass sounds! I just prefer using other synths for that. Pigments really excels at leads and pads for my purposes. I mainly use sublab, serum and lunacy audio cube.

That first demoed preset (Frozen in time) doesn't actally appear to be in the factory bank.

Thanks for the update, multicore support is very important for software like this.
Man, this is the updates of all updates for all your products. I'm convinced there was an overhaul in the sound engine, because everything sounds way bigger and fuller. I'm talking nasty thin presets that I couldn't do anything with in an abandoned project sounded way more punchy and alive. So yeah, there's more to this upgrade besides these amazing features
Amazing yet another free update. Whereas the V collection upgrades are less friendly these days for loyal customers, these free updates are very welcome! Ofcourse you have way more competition for this synth, but let’s not spoil the fun. Thanks for this!
A whole lotta employees to pay, can't all be free.
May last few V collection upgrades have been the cost of one of the new synths in there and there's been an average of 2 or 3 new one's each time. The last upgrade came with MiniFreak V. I would not expect that to be thrown in there. Very friendly, if you ask me. Arturia is hands down the best plug in/synth company I've been buying from.
@@AvocadoRob I own V collection 9, FX bundle 4, Pigments, Keylab, some packs and some FX and synths that I got separately (that later appeared in a bundle).
My latest loyalty price for V collection X is 299€.
I think that is because I didn’t buy Acid by itself. Now I pay 299€ for Acid (which has been 50€ on sale) Minifreak (also has been on sale) and another synth. I don’t really see that as a huge deal. If you’re new to V collection you get 39 synths for 599€. A loyal customer like me gets 3 or 4 for 299€. I don’t see that as a great price
@@happylittlesynth oh I understand. There’s a lot of updates as well. But it’s not a product with stock. A 100-129€ upgrade for loyal customers is a better price than 299€ imo

My main point was: I own V collection 9, FX Bundle, Pigments, packs and synths that I got separately that later ended up in a bundle. Pretty loyal. I now pay 299 for an upgrade to V collection X. That’s 299 for 3 synths when a new customer pays 599 for 399 synths. That is a very big difference. Probably because I didn’t buy Acid separately

I will admit that I'm not an expert at it, and I see that Groove3 is offering a very affordable course on Pigments 5. I just might have to pick that up. 🙂

Very happy with it since version 2, every upgrade is enjoyable (and free!). Made and released a psytrance soudbank for it recently, and planning for more :) Unbeatable workflow and capacities

Some say Waldorf Iridium is Pigments in a box - and their sound engines and overall approach are actually pretty similar. Except that Iridium is 20 times more expensive if you catch Pigments on a discount . 🙂
@@HJPhilippi I have both and I do see/hear the similarity. However comparing price isn't fair really... Iridium is a hardware synth whereas Pigments is literally just binary code for a host... for me an expensive Macbook that costs more than what I paid for the Iridium... however I do see/hear the similarity. I feel it's quite easy to program Pigments due to the UI but the Iridium does have its magic and its also being updated.. but not like Pigments 5 which is quite different to the original release.
@@neilloughran4437 You're absolutely right, one should not compare apples and pears and indeed the Irdium (especially with keys) is one of my dream synths. But as for the price of a PC: most of the time you need one anyway, even in addition to hardware synths, unless you belong to the DAW-less party! So it is "simply there" and a VST synth does really only cost what it costs.
