I almost gave away my TH Distress Crayons because they were too much 'work' to activate. But after watching your helpful video, I'm going to try shaving shards and dissolving in water to use in my water brush as washes. Thank you for these fab tips! PS. I liked and subbed, too!

Great ideas. I loved the hints to blend them with gesso or matte medium, and liquefying them to use in waterbrushes. Could probably make sprays with them too. I've recently started using this medium and will definitely be trying out these techniques.

Wow! This video was super helpful! As a beginner artist, I'm still trying to find my niche. I love watercolor crayons as well as watercolors. I have some neocolor II crayons on the way...and I'm really excited to try some of these methods. I really like the mixing with the white gesso! I have trouble with my hands due to muscular dystrophy, so anything to make painting easier is helpful to me! So, great video! 💜

Thank you for this video. This video was so helpful! You are delightful Sharon! I didn't know that Gesso should be used on watercolor paper or mixed media paper. I know it's supposed to be used on canvas before one paints for archiving. Is it used for the same reason on paper?

Hi. Enjoy yur video. When you sugest to mix Neo color I and II with fingers, what do you recomend for finish and protect the paintng. The thing is one of the materials is permanent and the the is water soluble. So, what's the best to do? Thanks.

I've used the crayon for fun chunky lines on my acrylic. Do these "set" themselves? I can't put a varnish because they will run right? Like pastels, do I spray?
i like to use my shaving and put them in an empty watercolor pan
Hello! Awesome video! So many great tips that I want to try all. Thank you so much. Just a question: what to do to your watercolor crayons when they are too hard? I bought a pack of flying tiger watercolor crayons but they simple don’t blend with water. They ruin my 300gr paper. Do you think I could melt and add something to when they dry they would not get so hard. I don’t know what to do... thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Your Crayon don't blend with water at all? Or just not Blending that well but do blend some? Are they water soluble crayons? Or plain Crayons?
If they are water soluble and not Blending that well you can try to prime your surface a bit with either gesso or some watercolor ground base.
If they are not water soluble there is nothing you can do to make them blend...

What king of gesso do you use on your paper, I would like to be able to use my polychromos on the same page too therefore I don’t want the paper to be rough.
I mainly use finnabair's gesso and liquitex's. In what way you use your polychromos? On top of the crayons? Or just on the same surface? If you use the crayons in their classic form, it is hard to go on top of them with colored pencils due to their wax ingredient.
This was a very helpful video! I bought a set of Neocolor 2 and looked up what to do with them.
I've the transparent Gesso from AMSTERDAM and it seems to give not a very smooth ground (1 layer). I would looove to try the smudging tecnic, but my Neo's 2 don't move when I wanna smudge them with my fingers. What am I doing wrong?
Hi!my guess is that you didn't buy the neocolor water soluble set... That is why you can't activate it.
@@sharonziv-noomish7386 thank you for your answer. Yes I have the watersoluble ones :) they blend beautyfully with water, but I can't smudge them with my finger. Maybe I used just the wrong paper or Gesso?

Yeah it worked! Thanks a lot for your encourage. I tried it again today and I realized, that I had to less pressure and tried it not long enough.
What do you call the water dropper you used to fill your water brush please?
Pipette, you can find it in different sizes, very handy
