I used to hire a neighbor as a second cameraman for my side wedding business mostly as a favor to him as he needed the cash. Had him signed up for a wedding one weekend and at the last minute he tells me he took another job that weekend and left me scrambling to find a replacement two days before the wedding. Funny thing is he didn't understand why I was so pissed off. I let him have it and never spoke to him again. People are funny. No good deed goes unpunished. You're a class act Ron, don't let it get to you.
Hello Bondo! What's the old saying? "Burn me once, shame on you". "Burn me twice, shame on me". Just like a tear in a river, I would let him go so fast... That story defies the definition of friendship or that of a reasonable working relationship! Really enjoy your channel! Thanks for sharing. 😁👍👍👍👍👍
No worries about that scoundrel. Turdballs are everywhere but eventually they will stink themselves out of business. Your professional demeanor and commitment to your customers will prevail.
I'm not a businessman, but this man keeps changing his mind, different dates, different opinions, different circumstances... I think you came off clean before arguments get worst during or after the job
You said he is slow to pay too? That is always my biggest red flag when dealing with people. If you have to badger them to pay they aren't worth dealing with. Then when they come begging you to do work you make them pay up front or walk away.
A man is only as good as his word! I would have dumped that concrete in his yard…But I’m hard….You held your composure! Great job! You’re a man of integrity!
Cut him like bait bro, I’m sure you were in business long before him and I guarantee you’ll still be in business when he’s gone. Keep up the good work. Youre an awesome example of the good old American way. Dirty hands, clean money 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
Been in construction 25 years now. I don't have any 'friends' in the trades, only work relationships. My actual friends even know better than to ask for a 'friends and family discount '. Keep up the good work. I'm new to the channel but I can tell after four videos that you're a man of integrity.
Mr. Bond, you are amazing. Of all the videos of yours I have watched over the last few years, this is the most impressive. With no one watching, and no one helping, you made sure the finish on the concrete you had placed was perfection. That's the attention to detail that when things get wild and tough comes into play to make a difficult job still be a success. Well done, Sir! PS: I noticed you pulled all that wire mesh up into the larger job.... 🤪 PPS: No. You and your crew don't need to be a backup to someone that isn't honorable.
When you own a business you have no "friends".Only business associates. I just retired from corporate ownership (sold my factory and retired well). My wife was the first to notice that people who acted like my friends stopped calling when the money dried up as I was no longer signing the front side of checks to them. I knew it would happen and tried to explain it to her. Conversely there are annual trade shows for my former industry and the new owners are setting up booths at those. Through a contact I heard the people I worked with over several decades were: shocked that I sold out and retired, missed me, and had very nice things to say about my business ethics, ability, and desire to help any and all that asked. That made me feel pretty good.
I have noticed many pretended to be nice when they are dependent on you as supervisor. Man and woman, woman try to seduce and man like u 'leek your boots'. I have made many favors to coworkers, put their problems before mine, the moment they get used to it and see you as nice, polite person, they think they are better than you... After this many start to sabotage and 'backstab'. I have cut all of them from my life, now i'm very careful hiring people. Before that i thought people could be changed for good when give recourses and taught so. The moment i have cut giving support to 'friends' they have shown their real faces...
Hey bondo ,I’m in construction in England and you find some people are all about themselves, his loss if you ask me Looking forward to the videos this year
Nice to find someone somewhat local...im between Rochester and Syracuse. I just did a stamped patio behind my house and I wish I did a few things different now...Good videos!
I really enjoy your videos and admire the work you and your crew get done. You deserve better treatment and shouldn't work with that other crew. Life is short and you deserve to get better treatment.
Years ago when I started my business my dad said there were a few things you should know, newer do work for relatives, a friend of a friend, or in your neighborhood. Last, never get mad, eventually, you'll get even. So true, In one of my first jobs my mom's favorite brother, my uncle, tried to screw me out of some money till she kicked the living s--- t out of him. She said don't tell your father. I told that same story to my son.
There's a few things I won't miss about owning my own company & this is definitely one of them. I hated people doing this & assholes shopping my bids. Best revenge is for you to have a great career! Thanks for doing these videos, keeps me kinda' in the game.

Well, Bondo, I think you made the right choice, deer hunting is definitely more important. I have no doubt you’re a good man. This guy was just keeping both of y’all hanging to see if he could get one you two to come down on the price so he could pocket more. It was good that y’all talked, hopefully he felt like crap. Good real friends are few and far between. Take care of yourself, see you on the next one 🤘
You pretty much did the right thing. I wouldn't write the friendship off entirely... just set another boundary or two... no more joint projects without adhering to some pretty firm rules. I would no longer recommend him for jobs I can't fit into my schedule or jobs I don't want to do... at least not until he lives up to promises he makes a few times. I'd still be cordial and all... but, yeah, I wouldn't even consider working with him and I'd make sure he knows why... but then outline what has to happen if we are every going to take on a project together - like half the revenue upfront before you even BEGIN to consider making room in your schedule... NON-REFUNDABLE if he cancels/uses somebody else. Otherwise, it's nice to see him and all that... have a beer or whatever... but yeah - a boundary or two.
Sounds like a lot of bother just to help him. I usually do not have time anyway. Just was gonna help him out because it is winter. But I do think if I did work for him again I would have to do what you are saying. Thanks.
Real friends don't keep screwing you over .. sounds like your friend loves to hoard money .. and doesn't wanna pay the good help ... you can only change your own plans so many times before you'll have enough of the bs ... don't get walked on ...if he asks again for help ... well ... lol I can't put on here what I'd say to him .😂... keep up the awesome work love watching your videos .
I know how I am. I would Definitely work w him again but I would cancel last minute… twice. Just to keep our “friendship “ equal. I’m big on equality 😊
Bondo- if you ever do another job for him again, only way should be non refundable deposit on such. When money is involved he just might think twice about his actions. Love the channel, best to you in ‘24
Hi bondo after 55 years in construction I never trusted anyone there's always someone will do you in the end I got stung my self several times iv helped young lads out with machinery and extra men and when they get established they'll screw you and some of them don't last long they get them self's into that much death one job goes rong there gone bust with no backup plan some of them try to come back looking for work yea I know what it's like I'd ignore him I guarantee he'll be back to you begging for something. Great videos 👍 👌
He'll see the vid and you'll find out real quick whatvhes about. I would be pissed too. Sounds like you dodged it anyway. New subscriber, really enjoy and learning from your channel. Im sure it's been said but Bondo sounds like the actor M. Emmet Walsh.
I enjoyed seeing the close up mag and edging work. I just do tiny concrete projects and some of the bagged concrete(depending on brand) finishes like crap. It's like it's 95% jagged rock and sand with the absolute minimum of portland.
Thanks and yes bagged concrete sucks. You can make good concrete with crushed sandy gravel with stone and Portland cement. Way better than the bagged stuff.
“Some” people call that friendship, just “business” or “winning” (as someone famous said “we are going to be *winning* (screwing people so much) so much you are going to be sick of it”.) *You should *never* be surprised by him ever again otherwise shame on you.
When you depend on someone for work and they change on you it feels like a betrayal, but he said he had more guys that he thought and did not expect to show up! Still he should of called you about his dilemma! He was probably overwhelmed at the moment and as an afterthought realized he cut you out! Things happen sometimes, just do not depend on him next time, but it was most likely an error in judgement. Roll with the punches, speak your mind, and let it drop! You still have jobs with him!
The pony is already out of the barn, but maybe business "friends" should come to a pre-agreement where if either of you commits to a job with the other a job cancelation fee applies if a cancelation that is discretionary happens. It IS business after all. Thanks for the videos sir.
Bondo, You are a man of your word. You should expect the same from others. Old school your word and a handshake should mean something!!! Let him go. Sincerely, Bronko
Bondo, friends don't pull those kind of stunts. Like others have said, he is no friend, steer clear of him, you don't need him to stay afloat. Enjoy your winter. We know you wouldn't do what he did to you !
I would say it’s not worth burning the bridge over ! U may need his help some day , as I get older I try to pick my battles and most times I’m glad I did ! Nice job on the pad
I'm with you on the guy cutting you out. That's bad business ! It is hard when people think that All right to do and you have bailed him out before! He's definitely a man out for himself and not the team.
Dishonesty is a pet peeve of mine... That burns bridges faster than anything... I don't need dishonest folks in my life... As the saying goes... Lay with dogs, you get up with fleas... Dave
@bondobuilt386 bloody hell, yeah, there is a lot. just shows how many viewers you have bondo, lol... maybe just a like should be enough rather than replying... it will take you hours otherwise.....
I've been in business for over 40 years, you will find you have friends/Business associates that will be there when you call, and some when its convenient to them, figure out which is which and treat them accordingly. Be careful that you don't find yourself as one or the other dependent upon your needs, we would like to think we hold ourselves to a higher morality but with deeper reflection and honesty to ones self we all fall short at times. Good luck in your Business and life.
I had a friend since school days, I always dropped what I was doing to help him day or night, last minute, emergencies.... whatever. Since I became disabled he doesnt understand I cant labor like I did , now I need help to do small projects and cant get him out here if it was life or death. Guess I was more of a friend than he. Been a few years now and funny how I havent heard a peep. Dont let people take advantage of you.
Hey Bondo how was your Missouri Deer season? Pretty nice country to hunt in. Do you make videos from deer hunting? Really enjoy the videos. Thanks for sharing.
@bondobuilt386 awesome. I hunted northwest Missouri 5 seasons. We had so much fun. Used to be some really great people out there. Congrats on that 8pt. I need a zip up hoodie in 6xlt that says "Here comes the Mud" 😁🤣🦌 take care bud. 🙂
I bet the spray foam alone was close to 100k. That's a huge building. As for your friend, that's a no. Never again. People like that must feel the consequences of their actions. Otherwise, they will never stop.
As an ex concrete guy, i sure wouldn't put full trust in anything he says as far as depending on one of his jobs, but if his money is good and something looks like a surething, I'd do the job. But never forget that his word isn't completely trustworthy.
In the corporate world, I've learned that true friendships are rare. Instead, there are reliable colleagues and other categories. Smaller companies can foster friendlier relationships, useful across jobs. Yet, mixing family or close friendships with work is risky. I strongly advise against it; from experience, it's not conducive. This might sound tough, but it's my honest observation. And no, I'm not a narcissist!
There's apologies then there's amendments. Someone who is an adult who respects me and amends a mistake with me, I stick with. Someone who I can't trust is halfway nice but is always apologizing to me I don't have time for. That guy's just looking after number one. Sorry you had that experience, no fun.
Nope...Let him go and don't do biz with him ever...even if he comes asking you for work for himself!! never lead someone on for a job then at the last minute screw that person!!! I was a G.C. for 35 yrs and in all my of biz I never did that to anyone
I done a job for a good friend (I thought)who was on a much higher social/financial status than I was , I literally made zero and he knew that. He 1099 me on the job!😂 He’s still rich.
I don't know Bondo, I'm not sure if I saw you lifting the wire on that big concrete slab. I sure hope that you put a lot of relief cuts in that big slab hmmmmm... 😆 I'd just do your own thing and wouldn't bother with him again. Time to move on and probably less headaches too.
Sounds more like you lost an acquaintance instead of a friend. My Grandma taught me over 50 years ago that if your count of friends is more than your fingers on one hand you are considering acquaintances as friends. I really enjoy following your channel. Enjoy the rest of the winter. Time seems to fly by, year after year
Other guy was cheaper! Guarantee it. Been in business a long time myself. I’d stay away from him cuz he’s just using his so called friendship without concern of what it does to your business.
Business can be tough, if he wants to work with you again, your price goes up accordingly, simple. Sounds like he was setting himself up as your competitor. So concentrate on just delivering your quality work and the future business will come to you.
your buddy is going to run out of contractor buddies real quick

Thanks.
that wasnt your friend… he found a way to put more $ in his pocket is all. You do nice work!
Thanks Jim.
Absolutely!@@bondobuilt386
Money will make people do strange things.
Yes it will
Real friends don't keep screwing you over .. sounds like your friend loves to hoard money .. and doesn't wanna pay the good help ... you can only change your own plans so many times before you'll have enough of the bs ... don't get walked on ...if he asks again for help ... well ... lol I can't put on here what I'd say to him .😂... keep up the awesome work love watching your videos .
LOL thats funny. Thanks for watching. I am sick of the BS from him.
I know how I am. I would
Definitely work w him again but I would cancel last minute… twice. Just to keep our “friendship “ equal. I’m big on equality 😊
Bondo- if you ever do another job for him again, only way should be non refundable deposit on such. When money is involved he just might think twice about his actions. Love the channel, best to you in ‘24
Thanks we have a busy year lined up.
You are too good to work with A Holes. Hold your ground!
Thanks I will
Hi bondo after 55 years in construction I never trusted anyone there's always someone will do you in the end I got stung my self several times iv helped young lads out with machinery and extra men and when they get established they'll screw you and some of them don't last long they get them self's into that much death one job goes rong there gone bust with no backup plan some of them try to come back looking for work yea I know what it's like I'd ignore him I guarantee he'll be back to you begging for something. Great videos 👍 👌
Thanks Patrick.
He'll see the vid and you'll find out real quick whatvhes about. I would be pissed too. Sounds like you dodged it anyway. New subscriber, really enjoy and learning from your channel. Im sure it's been said but Bondo sounds like the actor M. Emmet Walsh.
Thanks I appreciate that. Thanks for subscribing too 😀
Last August I bought a 2011 STX F150 IT ONLY had 3,500 miles. Your dully was an exellent buy!!
keep your head up my man, work will come your way !
Thanks bud. I have a ton of work lined up was just helping him out because it's winter.
If he wants to be friends later fine but never would help him again
thats what I am thinking.
“Some” people call that friendship, just “business” or “winning” (as someone famous said “we are going to be *winning* (screwing people so much) so much you are going to be sick of it”.)
*You should *never* be surprised by him ever again otherwise shame on you.
No nothing will surprise me going forward.
We have more work than we can do. I was just gonna help him out because we do not normally work in winter.
The pony is already out of the barn, but maybe business "friends" should come to a pre-agreement where if either of you commits to a job with the other a job cancelation fee applies if a cancelation that is discretionary happens. It IS business after all. Thanks for the videos sir.
Your welcome. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Looks real good.
The effort always pays off
Thank you.
Yeah. It's hard to be a worker especially in NY. It's to cold here in PA to be messing with mud. Stay safe.
Yup I like taking the winter off. We kill it the rest of the year.
Watch the people you trust & the people you do business with. It’s sad to say, but it’s true. There’s not enough loyal people left on this planet.
You are correct about loyalty.
The way I hear it is, He burnt his own bridge for future help. More his lose than yours at this point.
Thanks and yes he did.
Sometimes $$ makes you forget about never again.
Sad but true
Keep practicing on those small jobs Bondo. Soon you'll be a full grown concrete man.😂 just kidding. I like your videos.
Someday I will figure it out. LOL
No I would not do that to him.
I would say it’s not worth burning the bridge over ! U may need his help some day , as I get older I try to pick my battles and most times I’m glad I did ! Nice job on the pad
Good job on the two small jobs.
Well done.
Good viewing.
I'm with you on the guy cutting you out. That's bad business !
It is hard when people think that All right to do and you have bailed him out before! He's definitely a man out for himself and not the team.
Yup and I would have handled it way differently.
Just remember the old saying, "Screw me once, shame on you" "Screw me twice, shame on me". Cut ties.
Yes I think so.
Dishonesty is a pet peeve of mine... That burns bridges faster than anything... I don't need dishonest folks in my life... As the saying goes... Lay with dogs, you get up with fleas... Dave
I like that one bud. Lay with dogs. LOL. Now I got fleas.
You don't get the fleas until you mention what jerks they are and THEN associate with the dogs... You have time my friend...@@bondobuilt386
Sadly, greed changes people even if you're related
It looks like he appears to need you, but you don't need him, His loss.
I certainly do not. Thanks.
Great job replying to everyone that shows you're a great youtuber. I know it's not always possible, but it's great to see...
I am trying but there is a lot on this one. LOL
@bondobuilt386 bloody hell, yeah, there is a lot. just shows how many viewers you have bondo, lol... maybe just a like should be enough rather than replying... it will take you hours otherwise.....
Yup if it was concrete season no time for that LOL @@terencewelch9800
I wouldn't work for that guy again. It's a lot easier to not work with someone like that rather than having problems working with him.
Thanks and I have to agree with that statement.
Sad story. Some people in this world.
Hey Bondo how was your Missouri Deer season? Pretty nice country to hunt in. Do you make videos from deer hunting? Really enjoy the videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks I got a decent 8 pointer. I love hunting there. I do not make hunting videos. That is my vacation. LOL
Yes a huge building for sure.
As an ex concrete guy, i sure wouldn't put full trust in anything he says as far as depending on one of his jobs, but if his money is good and something looks like a surething, I'd do the job. But never forget that his word isn't completely trustworthy.
I have tons of work so I will just stay clear.
You don’t need people like this. He kept you just in case the other guys didn’t work out. Been there done that.
Yes he did.
Thanks for the comment and I believe you are correct.
You don't need "friends" like that.
No I do not.
Not enough reason to loose a friendship. Life is very unpredictable.
There is more to the story but not enough time to tell it.
It's just bad business.
I LOVE how they stomped that wire to the ground...great job
I tried to get it all the way to the bottom for you wire watchers. LOL
Been there! Never do work for friends! If so you have to contract it just like anyone else!
So sad that it has to be like that.
For sure buddy. LOL
Dag Bondo you got your mall walking shoes on
lol
Sounds more like you lost an acquaintance instead of a friend.
My Grandma taught me over 50 years ago that if your count of friends is more than your fingers on one hand you are considering acquaintances as friends.
I really enjoy following your channel. Enjoy the rest of the winter. Time seems to fly by, year after year
It does fly by. Thanks for the comment and watching the comment.
Other guy was cheaper! Guarantee it. Been in business a long time myself. I’d stay away from him cuz he’s just using his so called friendship without concern of what it does to your business.
Yes I think you are correct.
Business can be tough, if he wants to work with you again, your price goes up accordingly, simple. Sounds like he was setting himself up as your competitor. So concentrate on just delivering your quality work and the future business will come to you.
Thanks for the insight. 👊
When you get ditched several times, you need to draw a line in the sand so to speak......
Yes for sure.
Well, with friends like that, who needs enemies right?
great video as always, do you sell any of your merchandise ? shirts or hoodies
I just give them to the guys around here where I work and the customers and drivers. I need help sometimes keeping up with everything. LOL
Three strikes and your (he's) out. I agree, stick to your decision. Less stress for you and your guys in the future.
He was only a friend because he needed you. Just like when you have a pickup and someone needs to move that you haven’t heard from in a long time!
Yup exactlky
Man been a tough year for us snowmobilers.
Ya I managed to get 300 miles in 3 trips. Not good at all.
Curious how your deer hunt went? Thanks for the vids
Your welcome. I got an 8 point. Last year I took home two monsters.
