Love your efforts guys, my wife and I did this track around 20 years ago towing a off road trailer with bike and a quad and a 12 month old and had no idea the track was so bad. We did it with a Gq patrol with a 2 inch lift . Took us 2 days, very slow nearly tipped the trailer few times. Melville is our favourite place in all of OZ, we now have taken our grown up kids and they love it also
Thanks Shauno! It’s certainly not a track we’d do again in a hurry haha. Cape Melville is so underrated we reckon but hey, let’s hope it stays that way 😉
The boat sits higher than a majority of trailers as it is, then the motor is up a few clicks. We choose not to lift it up more as it’s more weight over the transom. We haven’t had any dramas with it hitting yet 🤞🏻 but will adjust if it becomes an issue. A motor cover would be great! But mercury were out of stock when we bought our motor and the cheaper alternative we bought broke after only a couple times of using it 😂 I might actually check if mercury has them back in stock now.
Good to see you2 are enjoying it a lot more to come 😁. The Nav system tells you one thing, but realistically "well". Big Foot took the track😜. Nice drone footage 👍. That trailer mud guards needs more clearance between the tyre's especially if you have as muddy track ,l always have on board "Mud chains on board on my trips 👍😁.
Yeah 100% you hit the nail on the head, the mud guards do need more clearance and it’s one of the things we will change for V2. Haha such a good track though!
@lifeina4wd not really just like seeing everyone's set ups so I can get ideas for when I do my canopy later in the year. Im doing a lonnnng prep to do a lap with my wife and kids in the next few years
Our canopy is all homemade so she certainly isn’t flash but much more affordable than your 40-60k canopies 😅 we’ll see if we can get something filmed before we head over to Tasmania this week 🙌🏻
Great vid guys loving the offroad content. Has the trailer got bump stops? Am interested in the articulation offroad with leaf springs. Any scrubbing? Cheers legends!
Nah no bump stops but it does scrub just on the top of the mud guards when it really sways. In hindsight, we should have had the guards a bit higher. Good pick up! It’s one of the things we are looking to change.
Enjoyed the video guys. One thing though, are you comfortable with keeping the outboard in the down position like that? If you are going to be doing a lot of those sorts of tracks, it might be better up as high as you can get it. I've scraped the skeg on ours multiple times in some of the steep stuff.
Nah it’s pretty high off the ground. We like it lower down so it’s not as much weight hanging off the end of the transom. The boat sits very high, much higher than majority of trailers so that seems to alleviate the issue. Definitely something we took into consideration though!
Haha well funny you should say that. We are currently in Mount Isa with a blown head gasket (that Shane is fixing as we speak). The risk of putting a wrecker motor in I guess 😂 Luckily we picked up on it early, and the head itself is fine.
@@lifeina4wd most definitely good you caught it. I used to swap used motors and never thought about til problems arose. Now I reseal every gasket, timing chain, and accessories before I swap one in. But you two were on a time crunch to get going. We understand those situations
Yeah 100%, if we’d had the time we would have rebuilt this engine too to be sure of no dramas. As it turned out, the head gasket lasted until just before we got to a friends place at Mount Isa. They are being amazing and letting us crash here as long as required so it all worked out in the end.
Hi Guys
Awesome stuff this is one of the best videos I have seen just fantastic.
You both must be very Proud with yourselves.
Thanks very much Cheers

Thanks Chris! 😊
I'd love to see how you've set up the ute guys
Hey Tim! We’ve been meaning to do a rig rundown for a long time and do intend to! Anything in particular you’d be interested in?

Thanks Troy!
I have started my replica trailer, using your videos as ideas, I am making it for Jetski instead of boat
Yeah it’s going to be sick! We can’t wait to see the finished product.
Super nice video!!👌
Thanks so much 🙌🏻

How’s your motor been doing? No more issues to sort out?

@@lifeina4wd least y’all made it there and not stuck in the back country. Trip is looking awesome so far
Yeah 100%. Thanks bro! We’re definitely enjoying it despite the dramas haha. Not a lap of australia without a little drama.
This road was fun and interesting, but i NEVER need to do it again lol. Also stayed at Ninian, it's nice but Bathurst bay is a lot prettier.
Hahaha yep that’s exactly the same sentiment we had too.
Hey could be a jabiru bird?
Just had to google this! Potentially… closest guess we’ve had so we’ll roll with that for now 😂
