Thanks for this. I often wonder what UA-camrs make. A lot of ‘work’ for not much pay, but I totally agree with @col1600 and others… If you love what you do, it’s not work. And we get to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
You may have done this already, but if so, I haven’t seen it… a video of what editing equipment and software you use. And maybe a quick look at your process. I’ve made a few videos over the years. They always turn out fine, considering that I don’t know what I’m doing. Every time I do one, I have to figure out how to do everything all over again - I’ve done so few. I’ve recently purchased a tutorial for iMovie, so am in the process of actually learning to edit. But I doubt I’ll ever do what you’re doing. I really don’t want to work that hard. I love to ride, travel on my bike, take photos and videos. One of these days I’ll sit down and put an edit together.
Anyway, this didn’t start out to be a novel. Sorry for rambling. My wife and I enjoy your videos. Judy, especially loves your tours, as do I. Keep up the good work.

I agree. To be as transparent as Andy is about his YT earnings isn't something most people would do. This might not be of great benefit to Andy (aside from a few views) but it will be for wannabe YTers.
Hopefully this kind of altruism adds a bit to the pleasure you get out of producing so much great content Andy.
It's a shame YT can't measure and monetise based on the quality of and the value people get from posts. If they could you'd be earning what you deserve (i.e. a lot more).
Please don't burn out like other YTers we've heard about, ride safe and generally take care of yourself and those that you love. (Blatant plagiarism of @TeapotOne at the end there!).

In music it’s called GAS , Gear Acquisition Syndrome , basically the afflicted …lust after hardware that is related to their passion / hobby .
It’s the thrill of the chase , doing the research on the next guitar, the next bike , the next helmet .
Going to the bike shops , watching the you tube reviews , dreaming of the latest and greatest piece of hardware .
But one thing I know ..we are seldom satisfied .
That’s why shows like this are great , you can experience the thrill of someone showing you how great the new bikes are , instead of on a whim going for a test ride and having to sell a organ or two to fund the new purchase .
I gave up drinking , smoking , betting a few years ago …have two great bikes , and have spent a third of what I wasted money on in the past .
Motorcycling like music is pure .
So good on this bloke , for doing something he loves .

It absolutely is a real job, and a very good one... but it's like anything where you are self employed, you need motivation and to stick with it... and you need to be good at what you are doing. Most result in failure or giving up before it happens.
What you do need is enough money to survive on to get you through the time where you build the business in most cases. If you already have a 9-5 job, that doesn't allow you much time to focus on the other part. That's just my opinion on it all.

As Michael from the MAM journals said to me - to make a small fortune on UA-cam start with a big one!! Loving your work as ever mate - must try and meet up for a cacth up this year!!

Just being able to deduct VAT etc on purchases of things you’d already buy is quite bright. All of a sudden that bike is what, 20% off? Combine it with sponsors input and the fact that you’re (hopefully) having fun riding and going on tours with the mrs…happy days.
It’s not about income, it’s about expenses.
