I want some guilty pleasure movies to hit 4K, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, etc. Add in some classics like Stargate, Tombstone, Young Guns 2, Lethal Weapon Collection. Always on board with some 50's-60's westerns.
Yeah the first Young Guns is stunning. Agreed on all of those mentioned and I would add Cast Away, Mrs. Doubtfire, Die Hard sequels, Alien 3, to name just a few.
A good list, Ken. There are so many that need a good 4K edition for certain. Cast Away, Mrs. Doubtfire, Alien 3, Lethal Weapon movies, Die Hard sequels, Tombstone extended edition, Ben Hur, Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor), The Black Hole (Disney), Tron 1 and 2, Scream 4, Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.
Lethal Weapon & The Nightmare on Elm Street films on 4K were seemingly leaked to be coming this year. Although it seems to just be the first Lethal Weapon rather than the whole set
Im praying 🙏 for TMNT 90’s 4K & The Mask 4K (Jim Carrey) to finally release in 2025. Im sad they didn’t release a 4K of TMNT last year 2024 when it was their 40th anniversary
Unlikely since it’s Disney but both Die Hard 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance are celebrating anniversaries this year! Would love to see them get physical 4Ks especially since they are streaming in 4k!
i would love to see Stargate get a 4K release. But it missed the 30th anniversary so maybe it won't happen any time soon. Still i will keep on hoping 😎
Those films need a 4k release in 2025 1991 last boy scout & 1996 eraser & 2003 terminator 3 & 1997 the relic & 1996 the rock & 1994 interview with the vampire & 1993 falling down & 1991 ricochet & 1990 hard to kill & 1989 tango & cash & 1992 under siege & 1995 under siege 2 & 1995 mortal kombat & 1995 judge dredd & 1997 absolute power
I have the Criterion Blu-ray of The Breakfast Club, and it's fantastic. The special features are great, and the image quality was sourced from a 4K restoration! :)
Love those picks, Ken! I too would love to see Dog Day Afternoon get a 4K release in a nice 50th anniversary edition. Love that movie. Also, Sunset Blvd 75th anniversary is this year I’m hoping that gets a nice 4K release from Criterion or the studio. We shall see!
My wish list is: Abigail, Ready or Not, X, Pearl, Truth or Dare, Lisa Frankenstein, Django: Unchained, The Hateful Eight, Alone, Assault on Precinct 13, Big Trouble Little China, 2010: The Year We Make Contact, Home Alone 2, Napoleon Dynamite, and Hot Rod
It looks as though One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is coming to 4K this year as it was leaked through a WB 4K release slate, supposedly happening late 2025. Dog Day Afternoon & Final Destination were also mentioned in the leak but not confirmed if they’re getting a 4K
I watched the extended version of The Hateful Eight on Netflix in 4K. It looked and sounded great! It’d be great if Netflix licensed that version to coincide with the 4K theatrical version.
I think Monty Python and the Holy Grail is almost certain to get a 4K release this year. It's the film's 50th anniversary and Monty Python continues to enjoy a huge fan base. I suspect it will be a Sony release. Another one that has a good shot is the Stanley Kubrick film, Barry Lyndon, which also celebrates its 50th anniversary. This could be either a Warner Bros. release or something licensed to Criterion, which previously released a Blu-ray edition.
Barry Lyndon is at the top of my most wanted list. That movie will look ASTOUNDING in 4K! Come to think of it, the only other film that I might want in 4K as much as Barry Lyndon is There Will Be Blood.
Dances with wolves 30th anniversary edition. Also heard Michael Mann is working on Last of the Mohicans and The Insider. 3 movies ive been waiting for!
really hope we get a 40th Anniversary Breakfast Club 4K from Criterion w a Digipack booklet + loads of features. It would be the 'risky buisness' release of 2025.
Would love to see any of The Last of the Mohicans( heard is coming), Dances with Wolves, In the Name of the Father, LA Confidential, An Officer and a Gentleman, Road to Perdition, American History X, Black Rain, Mississippi Burning, Name of the Rose(French release already) just to name a few.✌️
I sure hope you're right about Breakfast Club, Perfect Storm, Sound of Music and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (all day one purchases for me). Would also get Hateful Eight though maybe wait for sale (not among the tops of my favorite QT flicks). Thanks Ken!
Based on how FX heavy Sin City is, the era it came out, this was mastered on a 2K intermediate. Wouldn’t be a huge boost in quality, but the HDR may still make it worth it.
Sin City was shot with Sony CineAlta HDC-F950, a digital camera also used by Lucas on Star Wars prequels. Definitely 2k masters. HDR and a good color grading should still make it pop though.
One issue always with most of John Hughes' films (i.e. The Breakfast Club) are the music rights - and 4K even more complicated by usually (preferably?) being non-regional. However, I certainly agree with your high probability assessment.
One that I wish would happen in either 4k or even blu ray but won't happen would be the Schumacher cut of Batman Forever. 30th anniversary this year, so it would have been the perfect time for it, but I just don't see it happening.
I bet Criterion will handle The Breakfast Club 4K release. Let's release a 40th anniversary 4K for Vision Quest. I think this would be either Kino Lorber or Vinegar Syndrome.
More 4K for Amy Heckerling in general. She did two of the best teen films of the 80’s and 90’s and neither has a 4K. Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Clueless are a must.
Some bangers... I'm really unhappy about the Underworld Box Set going OOP. Hope they do a re-release this year!!!!!!! Would also love to see Guy Pearce get some love - Memento, Count of Monte Christo, The Hurt Locker-USA release, L.A. Confidential, Ravenous, The Proposition. Minority Report & The Guardian. Tom Sizemore (RIP) -- Band Of Brothers / Red Planet / The Relic / Twin Peaks (Original Complete Series) / Enemy Of The State need a 4K
I have a lot of wants myself. Eyes Wide Shut, Phantasm II, Ernest Goes to Camp, Born in East L.A., Commando, Bloodsport, Heavyweights, Big Trouble in Little China … too many to name or remember.
Commando needs to be released on 4K -- seriously. We have Predator and The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day and many more of Arnold's films on 4K. Commando is NEXT.
I have that same Casper steelbook comes with a bonus dvd 📀 special features. If they released it on 4K new interviews with Christina Ricci and Bill Pullman
I love European Vacation as much as the original. To only reason it’s not as popular as the original is that the original cast didnt stay together and the script wasn’t written fully by John Hughes but still is fun.
Great list - could I add a few other titles: with significant anniversaries Little big man - 55th anniversary - Paramount. Rocky Horror Picture Show - 50th anniversary - Fox Becket - 61st Anniversary - paramount. ( technically not big anniversary but Studio Canal released follow up Lion in Winter in 2024). Thank you for another great episode.🎉🎉
Eyes Wide Shut is what I’m hoping for, and if they could bring Rocky Horror Picture Show (as well as its follow-up, Shock Treatment) in 4K. (ST to BOTH Blu-ray and 4K.)
The Descent and The Perfect Storm are must buys. I think we will see releases of Tron Legacy Das Boot (Sony) The Burbs (Arrrow) American History X Silent Hill Sinister

Criterion need to put out BETTER OFF DEAD on 4K for it's 40th Anniversary this year because that's film need a Criterion release and also why didn't Arrow Video forget to release Sixteen Candles on 4K for it's 40th anniversary last year and also we need a 4K release of Something Wild because i think the Blu-ray from Criterion is probably out of print and expensive so maybe Kino Lorber should put this out on 4K like they did with Johnathan Demme's other film The Silence Of The Lamb and we need this very 80s film on 4K with Ray Liotta because this film is a certified 80s gem and will be a great addition to 4K because that film need a 4K upgrade because no one ever heard of this film also ken would Something Wild get a 4K release this year?
Heyyyy Ken there’s already 2 versions of fantastic 4 on dvd 📀 the extended version and the theatrical cut I never upgraded those on blue ray but like u said maybe the 4K is in the works for the new movie Jessica alba is my favorite actress
I thought 2 of the movies you listed were already promised to be released this year, Sound of Music and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. These are two of my favorite movies so I'm excited for it.

I want all of those too
Young guns 2 is a classic?
@ When it comes to entertainment being a "classic" is subjective. I consider it a 90's classic action/western. movie, others may think it's hot trash.
michael bay = shit
Yeah the first Young Guns is stunning. Agreed on all of those mentioned and I would add Cast Away, Mrs. Doubtfire, Die Hard sequels, Alien 3, to name just a few.
Oh man I would love to have The Breakfast Club in 4K. I hope Criterion gets it and gives it a nice slip case or something.
Revenge of the nerds should be on 4k
A good list, Ken. There are so many that need a good 4K edition for certain. Cast Away, Mrs. Doubtfire, Alien 3, Lethal Weapon movies, Die Hard sequels,
Tombstone extended edition, Ben Hur, Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor), The Black Hole (Disney), Tron 1 and 2, Scream 4, Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.

Im sad they didn’t release a 4K of TMNT last year 2024 when it was their 40th anniversary
Id do a backflip for either of those released by Arrow. Throw 95's Mortal Kombat as well.
40th?
Unlikely since it’s Disney but both Die Hard 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance are celebrating anniversaries this year! Would love to see them get physical 4Ks especially since they are streaming in 4k!
I still need to buy the blue ray collection of die hard I only have the steelbook DVDs 📀
i would love to see Stargate get a 4K release. But it missed the 30th anniversary so maybe it won't happen any time soon. Still i will keep on hoping 😎
Interview with the vampire. Should have come out last year from 1994
Those films need a 4k release in 2025 1991 last boy scout & 1996 eraser & 2003 terminator 3 & 1997 the relic & 1996 the rock & 1994 interview with the vampire & 1993 falling down & 1991 ricochet & 1990 hard to kill & 1989 tango & cash & 1992 under siege & 1995 under siege 2 & 1995 mortal kombat & 1995 judge dredd & 1997 absolute power
Ben Hur needs to be released in 4k.
I have the Criterion Blu-ray of The Breakfast Club, and it's fantastic. The special features are great, and the image quality was sourced from a 4K restoration! :)
It is a great presentation.
Really, why does a movie like this need a 4k upgrade?
It sometimes is a gimmick to sell discs more than anything else.

X and pearl have German 4Ks and Lisa Frankenstein has a UK release
We need Andrew McCarthy mannequin on 4K along with the sequel thd blue rays don’t even have new special features
YES!
Eddie and the cruisers needs to come out in 4k and Neil Diamond The Jazz Singer .
Speaking of Wolfgang Peterson, would love to see The Boat or Das Boot in 4K and maybe include the tv series version as well.
I watched the extended version of The Hateful Eight on Netflix in 4K. It looked and sounded great! It’d be great if Netflix licensed that version to coincide with the 4K theatrical version.
I really want to see and own The Flintstones (1994) with John Goodman, released by Arrow Video in a BIG BOX SET
Schwarzenegger's great movie's on 4k- Eraser - Commando - Twins- jingle all the way- Terminator 3 - last Stand and with Atmos sound👍
Kingdom of Heaven was the best one on your list - great film if you watch the directors cut.
Every movie deserves a 4K upgrade
Absolutely agree!
@@AK12king I tend to agree.
I would like scream 4 on 4k it's missing from my collection
They sure do!🤑
Toxic Avenger 3????
U571 and Master and Commander in atmos would be on my top list.

Dances with wolves 30th anniversary edition. Also heard Michael Mann is working on Last of the Mohicans and The Insider. 3 movies ive been waiting for!
Weekend at Bernie’s 4K
Battlefield Earth!
Bernie’s and Battlefield were robbed of their Oscar nom’s! To make up for that-we need 4k transfers of both..along with Troll 2!
And mannequin on 4K with Andrew McCarthy and Kim Catra
My big rule about upgrading is that the 4k upgrade has to have all the previous special features. It they do then I’ll upgrade.
really hope we get a 40th Anniversary Breakfast Club 4K from Criterion w a Digipack booklet + loads of features. It would be the 'risky buisness' release of 2025.
I still remember when I saw The Breakfast club in the theater when it came out. One of my favorite movies of all time.
Great list Ken hopefully all these come out this year!!👍👍
Would love to see any of The Last of the Mohicans( heard is coming), Dances with Wolves, In the Name of the Father, LA Confidential, An Officer and a Gentleman, Road to Perdition, American History X, Black Rain, Mississippi Burning, Name of the Rose(French release already) just to name a few.✌️
Would love to see Bullitt, the Cannonball Run, Badlands, Where Eagles Dare, Slap Shot, Fandango, New Jack City, Dogma of course…
Breakfast club would be great, but what about 16 candles? I think 16 candles would be just as good on 4K and well deserved.
Well it would look the same, however if they do a Dolby Atmos mix would be great
Sin City was shot with Sony CineAlta HDC-F950, a digital camera also used by Lucas on Star Wars prequels. Definitely 2k masters. HDR and a good color grading should still make it pop though.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford needs to be released on 4K. The time has come.
I can't believe there is no 4k of There will be blood, the film is a masterpiece and would look fantastic!
I have been begging for Breakfast Club in 4k for years
Also a Nightcrawler 4k would be awesome
Definitely want European Vacation!🎉
One issue always with most of John Hughes' films (i.e. The Breakfast Club) are the music rights - and 4K even more complicated by usually (preferably?) being non-regional. However, I certainly agree with your high probability assessment.
I would love to see both Mortal Kombat & Mortal Kombat: Annihilation on 4K!
First 1 Yes, sequel No!
@ I mean we’ve got shitty movies on 4K like the G.I. Joe movies so anything is possible.
I would be excited for The Breakfast Club on Criterion. I would also like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest as a Warner Archive.
I think Tmnt 1990 will be more likely to get a 4k this year over Fantastic 4 or Casper
Don’t leave out part 2 the secret of the ooze with new interviews with the actors
One that I wish would happen in either 4k or even blu ray but won't happen would be the Schumacher cut of Batman Forever. 30th anniversary this year, so it would have been the perfect time for it, but I just don't see it happening.
Love, Love, Love BRAZIL! I’d double dip on a new transfer!
Scream 4 4k
Lethal Weapon 1, Sean Connery James Bond collection, Boogie Nights
Believe Connery Bond and Lethal Weapon are coming
All of these are supposed to be happening this year according to a WB leaked 4K release schedule
My picks for possible 4ks titles this year are Silverado, The Stunt Man, and Lionheart
Ive been waiting on Breakfast Club just like Ken
Yes to The Descent. I'm hopeful Boogie Nights is finally released in 4k.
I bet Criterion will handle The Breakfast Club 4K release. Let's release a 40th anniversary 4K for Vision Quest. I think this would be either Kino Lorber or Vinegar Syndrome.
Vision quest got its bluray release from Warner Archive recently unlikely to get a 4k now not sure why they didn’t wait.
Final destination 4k box set. Yes please 😊. 1 and 2 are my favorites. The others are pretty good. But definitely 1 and 2.

4K Steelbook for The Hateful Eight and Django.

Patton, master and commander the far side of the world, Tombstone, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Minority Report, Stargate, The Adventure of Tintin. Those are a few movies that I would like to see in 4k
The Outlaw Josey Wales is happening. It was confirmed by Clint Eastwood recently to be coming to 4K along with Pale Rider and Dirty Harry.
