@@cheekyfingergaming8309 that is required to summon the mountain boss called Moder, a dragon. You need to search for it's runes among the towers in mountain biomes where draugrs are stationed, once you activate the rune or vesegir rune, the location of moder's altar will reveal, once you're at the altar, put three eggs one each on the slots then press "e" on the altar. Decided not to watch this before because I didn't want to get spoiled about the game, but now I reached the bonemass with my friends, and he did a number on us. All we managed to learn was his weakness, but doing the fight properly is a real pain. That said, I doubt I will use any cheese strats, BUT, I will make a treehouse in the swamp. Looks like a dope way to have an outpost, at least until a wraith comes along.
FOR PEOPLE BONEMASS JUST WALKS AWAY FROM: You can still cheese him, you just gotta be at just the right height, if you are too high he just walks away, if you are too low he can hit you. Just build some wood platforms at different heights on the tree one of them will work. I killed him with around 100-120 frost arrows and my archery skill is around 30, took less than 10 minutes. You can farm resources for frost arrows very easily with frost resistance potions in the mountains, took me maybe 10-20 minutes to gather enough resources for 100 frost arrows, just avoid the wolves or shoot them with your bow before they aggro you. Also if you are using Iron bow be careful because it breaks before you kill him and you can't repair it without a forge, so bring the finewood bow.
I just want to say thank you for all these guides. They have helped me out so much. This game is so much fun. I haven’t had this much fun playing a game I’m a long time.
Short version : Get poison resist, run into boss and start hitting him mace, roll into him whenever he attacks, after he spawns too many monsters pull them behind summoning altar corner where you can aoe them down, repeat whole thing until the boss is dead
Awesome. I did something similar, but way more involved and not as perfect cuz i was not as high up. I noticed a crypt within shooting distance of his summoning skull, and those buildings cant be damaged, originally i thought i would just build up to it and make a little platform on top of it, but i instead built a small outpost up around it with stone walls and a bunch of sharp stakes facing the skull, to deal with lots of the slimes and stuff. Worked well enough that i fought him twice just to have an extra wishbone in case i ever died in a really bad recovery spot. Only had to rebuild a small section of my wall for the 2nd fight. (also used frost arrows to just obliterate him)
so to conclude its quicker to just go and kill him with wood arrows, might take an hour. But prepping frost resistance, finding and killing the drakes, making the frost arrows (and alot of them) and all the distractions included, it will take waaaaaay longer than an hour.

Hi, thanks for sharing this vid. I tried this, built the tree house, had my bones, arrows, bow etc. I was so ready. He did not want to cross this fallen tree. No he did not summon, he gassed and threw muck balls that was it.
there's always Better legit ways to kill these bosses. You do yourself no favors listening to this teenie boppers cheesy cheats! So bravo for killing bonemass like a man.
incredibly helpful. the frost arrows are non negotiable IMO after i sank 200 iron tipped arrows into bonemass only to get 1/4 of 1/4 of his health lol. Switched to frost arrows and it required exactly 100 frost arrows at lv 27 Bow.
I get what people are saying about cheesing it but if the devs didn't want you to do it they could have easily disabled your ability to. At world spawns you can't build anything, if they didn't want you to build for stuff like this they could have just done the same for areas around boss fights. Why is coming up with alternate fight strategies "taking the fun" out of it?
i think people just say that because hes pretty easy without cheese...you legit can stand on him and just swing away with decent armor and weapons from that point in the game and a poison resist mead, and its actually faster than cheesing him by miles
@Sarteck bonemass has been buffed since i said that however i do think with up to date full gear hes still a very doable easy fight with proper meads, that being said i wouldnt say your bad i also have thousands of hours on the monster hunter franchise and another probably thousand or so on the dark souls genre chances are im better than most here and im willing to concede to that (not through skill or natural talent or w.e just practice) Bonemass is parriable and does VERY reasonable amounts of damage at that point in the game you can run away and heal if your just tanking him, hes harder than he was but when i originally said this you could legit stand and swing on him run away heal mid and repeat like 4 times and kill him.
Just tried this method today, and it worked great. I was at around Level 25 in Bow, and it took a little over 100 frost arrows. Other arrow types would have worked, but it would have taken a lot longer.
Truly a most excellent cheese! Tip: if you shoot an object (rock, tree, etc) with a bow, you'll gain XP. Craft a few thousand wood arrows and fire away! Note: This will take around 2 hours to reach max bow rank, depending on how fast and persistent you are (extra note: the higher your bow rank, the faster it charges shots).
This was very helpful, we were lucky enough to have a portal across the sea (we actually made a second settlement on a island where we eventually found out where moder is) bone mass was actually near the shore so we were able to repair our long boat and carry our I think 200 wood(incase) and build a tree nearby. Poison blobs were able to go up to the treehouse due to my boyfriend’s lack of jumping skills (he had to have the ladders touching the ground) and when wee summoned bonemass we had about 100 frost arrow each but our bow skill level was like 19 &20 . My dumbass accident press Q and my character automatically walked outside of the treehouse and died ( we also build the treehouse super high). I had to use a raft to cross the sea and it was horrible because the wind wasn’t with me. We eventually got our wishbone and I got all of stuff back. I want to explore the plains but the first time we landed there, we got kill by a bunch of goblins 😭 Oh, also the stag breaker works and frost works against blobs. But if you have multiple blobs on you, stagbreaker 👍🏼
Nice tutorial for taking down Bonemass! I think when I try to take him down I'll lay down a couple pyres so I can add fire damage and finish him a little quicker.
On the drakes. I was mining a copper vein on the egde of the Black Forrest and Moutain and I had a drake patrolling the edge and had me for lunch. SO they drakes can be found much lower. If this has been said already. Sorry.
Love your channel. Your videos have helped tremendously with many games. Constructive criticism here: check your audio levels in your video editor. The volume on your videos is much lower than most stuff on UA-cam.
I just tried it and Bonemass was able to summon things up to my perch. All of a sudden I had slimes and skeletons pounding on me in an enclosed space. I was not expecting this and bailed out.
Tried something similar with a pal last night. No going. Arrows have been totally nerfed against him so you are forced to do some ground fight. And he summons many more mobs now. Much harder than i thought it was going to be. Your health ticks up so slowly we spent most of the time kiting but could deal no damage with arrows. Gave up
Need to get on this. I'm 60 hours in and still don't know his spawn location. Sometimes I get so locked into my little gated community I forget to play the game 🤣🤣
just fought him, iron armor level 2, iron mace L2, scale shield, iron sledge 1, used serpent stew, sausages, and turnip stew.. medium healing and stam meads with poison reduction. activated eik power at start of fight and it was still up when he died. only real advantage I'd say I had was the medium heal mead, had to run through a thin section of plains to get to him and it had a cloud berry patch. I suck with shield and got hit a few times, I just circled the altar and regen'd stam/hp... sledge for adds... ezpz
I just beat Bonemass usng this method. I'm terrible at boss fights, so cheese it is. However, even though I was really high up he managed to summon a skeleton and a blob onto my platform. The skeleton attack knocked me off, I landed on Bonemass and had to fight him on foot and died. So, go higher than you think and enclose your platform like this video says. I used about 150 frost arrows to kill him, but I missed some, the mechanics of shooting downward from a platform or wall kinda suck in this game. I used a portal on my platform just in case, glad I did.
Same basically happened to me, two skeletons got up there, I panicked and fell to the ground. Glad I had leveled the ground (for plan B) with hoe earlier, so running around the altar & avoiding hits was way easier. Died once though. Worth to mention, Bonemass destroyed the ladders/levels that helped me to get to the shelter, so I didn't have any other option but finish the battle on a ground level.
Brought 150 frost arrows for my kill and just kited him in circles (on the ground) , ez but took some time, a good 20 min kill (did not watch any guide before)
another great solution!!!!!! Thanks so much again. I think for solo players this boss fights are a pain in the a..... Thanks god we have FireSpark. So i will do the fight exactly how you showed it ... and then i can proceed in the game. You are my hero!!!! :)
Ngl position resist mead is all you need in iron armor and damage is minimal bow and arrow not needed unless lvling bow is your game this is the mindless way but effective. However if your progressing grab mead , iron gear , block/parry his one actually melee hit and occasionally cleaning up skeletons. His vomit is a literal poison field nothing else no extra dmg done to you.
Great strategy. I shoot deer every fall from a tree stand. Same strategy. For some strange reason, some people think that if you do anything but tank a boss to kill it it’s cheese. Pure B.S.
Well in a game boss fight, most of the fun is the thrill of actually fighting it. A strategy like this would be cool for after the fight and re doing it, sure. But for the first time, it’s a lot more fun to not use strategies like this.
@@tuisfigueiredo3380 killing a boss in this way just kind of defies how it’s supposed to be done. I’ve personally known people to love these kinds of strategies and he wasn’t a good person in general. Anyways, you can’t get the full experience in a way of boss fighting like this.
or.............You could make the Root mask to resist poison (or take a potion) jump on top of the skull shaped summoner, then jump on top of his head and start to smacking him to death.
You actually dont need the swamp key to get into the crypts. You can use a Iron /Bronze Pickaxe and Mine infront of the stairs up to it, and then swim under it and enter it without even having to kill the elder.
I tried this and it worked. However, I just built a platform, not a house, and enemies spawned behind me on the platform. Do not know if I was just unlucky or if they have fixed this.
Yep. I already summoned him to try to make a tree fort is out. I did drop a teleporter before I started the fight so I got my stuff back. That may help you.
bonemass ez, place about 6-7 workbenches around the area (maybe less idk) have medium heal potion ( i had 3), poison resistance ( 1-2), iron stuff almost leveled up to max (2-3 level is fine) sausage, some typa milkshake (i used) and fish
Thank you for all of your Valheim guides, they are super useful. With this one I was a little disappointed to get ten minutes in and learn that this is a cheese strat. In the future maybe you could mention that a little earlier, just in case a viewer is looking for an actual fighting strategy that doesn't completely remove the danger of fighting a boss. Just a suggestion, ofc.
@@JazzysGames No worries, words and meanings change all the time. Specifically, these are cheese strats that 'break the AI' of the boss, so they're not programmed with a response. Not to be confused with an item or strategy being 'broken' which means it is legitimate but overpowered. Go figure, right?
I used this method today with hunt'smans bow and iron arrows with a bow skill of 50, After about 200 arrows his health was down only about 1/4 of the way. LoL
I tried to kill Bonemass for the first time this morning. He didnt spawn at first, until I cleared every workbench away from the spawn area. So I used a second set of 10 Withered Bone to summon him, but he doesnt appear to be taking any damage from my Iron Mace. So now I dont know what to do.
you need to have your ironmace fully upgraded. I killed him with iron sword, it took some time but it worked. Just have alot of stamina, health and poison potions with you. My strategy was to keep my arrows for the mobs he spawns to keep distance and keep my sword healthy
Your friend with the fire arrows was wasting their arrows, he is immune to piercing and fire does nothing to him, those arrows do pretty much nothing. Does the same damage as wooden arrows .
@@krampusklaws2238 No he isn't...it's even shown in this very video that he isn't immune to fire 11:13. Massively resistant, yes. Immune? No. Still prevents his regeneration and that's the whole point.
My friend and I tried to take this guy down and failed miserably. Didn't realize my arrows did nothing and wasted so many iron arrows on it. Thanks for the video, we just need to get the frost arrows now.
i did this at lvl 30 bows, ended up at 43 but 800 something wood arrows, and 300 flint... ur dmg is too low vs his heal-tick until ur 35ish, then it starts too work
he won't regen if on fire. I just fought him normally without using cheese tactics but theoretically you could just shoot him with fire arrows now and then to prevent the regen
just skip him and clear the mountains wandering around for ages looking for a swamp only for it to have a single crypt that gives 35~ iron silver nodes just sticking out the top! full upgraded Frostner anytime now bet he'll drop in 2min

2 of my friends and myself just did this method. it took over 2 and half hours! this boss is no joke
to be noted we used wood arrows lol
and 2 of us fell off because they didn't want to build a roof or walls lol
lmao what level did you start and end in bows?
Started at lvl 26 with just wood arrows. It took roughly 1500 to finish the job. His heal is tough to compete against, so stamina is the key.
80 ingame days and i just got to swamp. Granted im taking my time and i like building and fooling around and exploring. Lo
That's the best part broski
Hehe same, I’m on day 60 something and recently got to the swamp, but I’ve spent my time exploring the island I was in and building my home.
Same lol now I have to find fruitful mountains because the two small ones on my starter island are doodoo and only have wolves on them
@@USMCarter have you used the wishbone to find underground silver veins?
@@cangel4469 I still gotta kill the big fella haha. I’ll come back to look for those once I can find enough obsidian for the frost arrows haha
I want to explore the plains but the first time we landed there, we got kill by a bunch of goblins 😭
Oh, also the stag breaker works and frost works against blobs. But if you have multiple blobs on you, stagbreaker 👍🏼
Nice tutorial for taking down Bonemass! I think when I try to take him down I'll lay down a couple pyres so I can add fire damage and finish him a little quicker.
Thanks! 99 Frost arrows w/47 bow skill. I loved not having to deal with the hordes on the ground.
On the drakes. I was mining a copper vein on the egde of the Black Forrest and Moutain and I had a drake patrolling the edge and had me for lunch. SO they drakes can be found much lower. If this has been said already. Sorry.
youre the goat at stretching these videos out so long lol
Love your channel. Your videos have helped tremendously with many games. Constructive criticism here: check your audio levels in your video editor. The volume on your videos is much lower than most stuff on UA-cam.
😂"you should have already touched wood" lol
Full iron armor all lvl4, iron mace lvl4, Serpent shield lvl2, poison resistance mead, Eikthyr power, less than 3 minutes on first try.
Ok 👍
Bro keep pumping valhiem content and you’ll continue blowing up more and more, this man is going denzel on these vids
Stupid question but how do you quick loot a chest without drag and drop?
control click?
Alt click
It’s control click, sorry for the dumb question though I tried that also pretty new to pc still 😂
click "take all"
Lmao I solo'ed him the other day and I was excited if you had any ideas I could try, wasn't really expecting cheesing.. but I admit that is smart
Breaking AI is what we do here. :)
I would recommend wearing the Root Armor at +15 to bows.
how did you level up swimming/jump/running ?
i get running because that is how you get around, but swimming?
Swim lol

Hey @Firespark81 what is the second food item in your inventory? It looks like French fries or something what is that??
Sausage. Spend some time killing in the swamps and you'll get the recipe. It's a great mid-game food.
is this method still viable after the Feb 25th update where Bonemass was changed? People say he's harder now.
I just tried it and Bonemass was able to summon things up to my perch. All of a sudden I had slimes and skeletons pounding on me in an enclosed space. I was not expecting this and bailed out.
@@cacodaemon1 wow! maybe build it higher?
@@cacodaemon1 this happened to me but only 1 and all i had to do was build up my walls a bit
Gave up
Frost arrows... just did him solo, took me about 150 frost arrows.

Need to get on this. I'm 60 hours in and still don't know his spawn location. Sometimes I get so locked into my little gated community I forget to play the game 🤣🤣
Once you start exploring crypts in the swamp biome; you should find boss markers in there.
@@zarakikon6352 yeah I know. I was just unlucky with finding it. It took 2 or 3 swamp biomes
Lol me too, after discovering turnips in the swamp I decided to make a whole farm 😅
just fought him, iron armor level 2, iron mace L2, scale shield, iron sledge 1, used serpent stew, sausages, and turnip stew.. medium healing and stam meads with poison reduction. activated eik power at start of fight and it was still up when he died.
only real advantage I'd say I had was the medium heal mead, had to run through a thin section of plains to get to him and it had a cloud berry patch.
I suck with shield and got hit a few times, I just circled the altar and regen'd stam/hp... sledge for adds... ezpz
@C Bowser you're bad at math, 2.5mins worth of swinging.
add in time to kill adds with sledge and it's easily possible. sorry you failed at it.
Yeah i did this and yup, this completely breaks the boss fight. Literally nothing he could do.
thorough as always, much obliged.
Does this still work?
@@leebcd yep. Just tried it today. Though just once, some slimes spawned on my platform. As he says, make sure you're up high enough.
@@Smitty-hr2mg cool, thanks!
"With your daily dose of video goodness..."how long I havent heard that
I just beat Bonemass usng this method.
FireSpark:100 FrostArrows should be enough.
Me:Hmmmm im just lvl 24 on bows well then lets just make 300 FrostArrows
Wow nice job. I'm feeling better about fighting these bosses. Thanks very much
Darn I just beat him normally xD, looking forward to the dragon boss vid ;)
Brought 150 frost arrows for my kill and just kited him in circles (on the ground) , ez but took some time, a good 20 min kill (did not watch any guide before)
Btw, I enjoy all of you content! Keep it up and you will get the following you deserve!
another great solution!!!!!!
You need the iron pickaxe for obsidian
Great strategy. I shoot deer every fall from a tree stand. Same strategy.
For some strange reason, some people think that if you do anything but tank a boss to kill it it’s cheese. Pure B.S.
Well in a game boss fight, most of the fun is the thrill of actually fighting it. A strategy like this would be cool for after the fight and re doing it, sure. But for the first time, it’s a lot more fun to not use strategies like this.
@@culturedcreator5185 you know that fun is a personal thing right? or do you think that what you think its fun, everyone does too?
Obsidian cannot be mined with Bronze pickaxe.
(for the people who doesn't know)
I tried this and it worked. However, I just built a platform, not a house, and enemies spawned behind me on the platform. Do not know if I was just unlucky or if they have fixed this.
i dont think enemies can spawn in a house, hence why they spawned for you
@@BraveCat9927 Yeah that makes sense.
The crafting bench stops spawns in its radius.

I did drop a teleporter before I started the fight so I got my stuff back. That may help you.
Good stuff for soloists
bonemass ez, place about 6-7 workbenches around the area (maybe less idk) have medium heal potion ( i had 3), poison resistance ( 1-2), iron stuff almost leveled up to max (2-3 level is fine) sausage, some typa milkshake (i used) and fish

The title says it's to "Break the Bonemass Boss" -- breaking a boss is another way of saying cheesing.
@@swaswj414 Oh ok, I was not familiar with that term. My bad.
@@JazzysGames No worries, words and meanings change all the time. Specifically, these are cheese strats that 'break the AI' of the boss, so they're not programmed with a response. Not to be confused with an item or strategy being 'broken' which means it is legitimate but overpowered. Go figure, right?
@FireSpark81 how do you create light before you?
It is an item you get from the trader. You buy it and it is a headlamp you equip.
~900 gold, I think
thanks, haven't reached trader yet
I used this method today with hunt'smans bow and iron arrows with a bow skill of 50, After about 200 arrows his health was down only about 1/4 of the way. LoL
I gotta ask this: how long have you jumped, ran, and swam around to get these skills to 100? :D
Build a training room and lvl them up in a few hours.
Worked for me. Many thanks.👍
Me and 4 of my friends took down bonemass today, 1 kiting and meleeing, 4 shooting arrows, 1 of them shooting fire arrows
Your friend with the fire arrows was wasting their arrows, he is immune to piercing and fire does nothing to him, those arrows do pretty much nothing. Does the same damage as wooden arrows .

One important tip.. When making your step ladder to the top of the tree use the 26 degree slanted roof tops. They don't Deteriorate from the rain.
You only using it to kill the boss, don't need long term solution to short term problems.
