As a vtuber, I avoid Twitch like the plague. A vtuber can get hit hard with bans with little to no reason, even if they haven't even streamed on there. They'll usually say it's for risque camsite stuff, but they'll ignore the camgirls on there. A vtuber can get perma-banned for a violation, and that same violation would only get a camgirl like 3 days or so. Kick seems to be inviting vtubers with open arms as well. still dont understand why advertisers care whether their ads appear on "controversial videos" as long as it isnt adult ads on kids videos, they shouldnt care as long as they make money
That is the reason why Twitch is falling, it bans controversial topics. In social media, if you cannot talk about it, why should people listen? Twitch has to start producing its own content, if it wants to be run like antenna TV: You watch or turn away.
A while back people told me to stream on Twitch but I didn't because UA-cam already had streaming by then and I couldn't understand why I'd waste my time starting up a whole new social media presence just for that. This makes me glad I didn't listen lol.
Twitch CEO has stated that he watches and enjoys Hasan Piker. That's almost certainly the reason why he hasn't been banned yet, despite platforming Houthi pirates and breaking ToS in ways WORSE than others who have been banned. Twitch CEO also clearly is a big fan of the camgirl streamers with low cut tops (he was showing off a change to the mobile system, and those were all of the accounts shown). VTubers can't have revealing clothes, but real women can be naked. All because the CEO cares too much about spanking it on his website to enforce ToS.
Isn't that the same person that banned Destiny I don't like the guy mine you but he and friend just exposed the sponsors to their current politics it not going well for them basically they brought the ADL on them.
As with UA-cam, advertisers don't care. They just have to make a show of not caring so they don't get as many frivolous lawsuits. They do want their ads shown on relevant videos though and both platforms just aren't doing that.
YT certainly didn’t seem to care about showing weird, creepy, ghey, or horror-type commercials on kid friendly content. But OMFG - don’t let a mildly conservative commercial on! That might offend the 2% of your audience that complain about every damn thing.
Twitch also ballistically injured their own backside with the debacle that was the "trust and safety" team who immediately went forth and began harassing anyone who wasn't "an ally". And then they doubled down on the favoritism and uneven application of their vaunted terms of service. Quick solution for adpocalypses, have content tags that advertisers can agree to. There are plenty of vehicle and firearm companies who would be fine with their ads being on various content. Then you have the rainbow glasses types who freak out over everything and they can run their puff ads on fluffy content. That's how it's supposed to be anyway, not that it actually is that way. But because the platform itself hates certain content, those ads will never be seen.
As a newer vtuber its really alarming alot of vtubers are being banned for little to no reason*most of the time* yet others are getting a slap on the wrist for stuff thats pretty big .
Twitch has been on a downward spiral for years. They come out with these new features that nobody asked for and nobody wants unilaterally without any kind of warning. And then the next week it changes again. Things that used to be there you now have to pay for. The fact that it forces ad rolls in the middle of the screen. I mean that’s OK for a VOD because you’re not missing anything, but when you get slapped with a 30 second ad spot during the middle of a live stream that you can’t do anything about, it just irritates people.
If they enforced their rules on RL streamers as harshly as they do VTubers, they wouldn't have any problem at all. But instead what do we get? RL streamers with dedicated butt-cams while twitch moderators measure the length of a VTuber's skirt like a disapproving 1940s school teacher.
when the question changes from "what can't I say? to "what am I allowed to say?" then yeah, twitch is done, because now, if you're a twitch streamer, the question is "what am I allowed to say?" the censorship has gotten so bad, there are people getting banned for things other people, who just have a different gender, sexuality, skin color, or language are allowed to say. like why is hasan not banned, but asmongold is?
I still remember that whole youtube wake up thing. Turns out the guy at the head of it, was bullshitting through the thing and only targeted the advertisers directly instead of working with youtube.
Wasn't that Mama Max? I know there was also a guy from the walking dead who did something similar first. Ironically Mama Max criticized him for his stupidity. It is an Irony because Max is also a faker, it just took him years to get caught.
@joncross9264 It was a guy called Matt Watson aka mattwhatitis. He got a mob to spam advertisers to drop youtube. He didn't flag videos, just went after advertisers. Even when youtube directly responded to him, he kept going. He got keemstar and Review tech to actually agree he went the wrong way. And he dismissed anyone telling him it was a bad idea.
I just love how opaque the rules are on twitch. Some creators/streamers seem to be able to do whatever they want... others are banned and never told what they did wrong.
I watch about 6 or 7 streamers on twitch, and their all smaller streamers with tight knit communities where we all know each other pretty well . While twitch has certainly kept repeatedly punched itself in its own balls with some really dumb policies and double standards that favor hot half nude woman over men and vtubers, I hope it survives for a while longer as I'd hate to see the small stream communities im part of loose what in some cases is their only source of income ( and many of their attempts to get a audience in places like youtube and kick just isn't happening thanks to zero discoverability there)
I just watch Twitch for the Esports tournaments on the weekends. Sorry to say, that’s the only interest I have. Everything else can be found on UA-cam in curated clips that compress the hours of streaming to reasonable 30 minute videos.
The only reason I still have a Twitch account is because I have Amazon Prime, and I definitely get FOMO from some games with their Twitch Drops. I haven't actively watched someone on Twitch in years, though, because the platform sucks. So many ads, a ton of useless or horrible streams, and UA-cam was more accessible for League. I want Twitch to die, since it clearly can't go back to just being about games, and instead it's a bunch of just chat and OF promos.
Ironically, i think one of the big things that can save Twitch is Vtubers. Lots of Vtubers prefer Twitch over UA-cam because connecting with their chat is easier on Twitch. But, they don't seem to like them for some reason.
Adpocalipse is such a stupid concept. I understand that brands may not want their names associated with certain contents, but... If that is where the audience is, why should they care? Are thy supposed to buy ads on the NYT that has less and less readers? Legacy media that has less views than youtube podcasters? It is silly. Buy ads on everything and if someone complains, tell them ads are placed randomly. But then again, the silly companies are trying to use their ads to strongarm platforms to ban speech they don't like.
Funny thing is that they used to have a general content platform in Justin TV. That floundered and Twitch took off as a video game content platform. So Justin TV was closed and the focus went to Twitch. Now it looks like Twitch has become the general content platform and is in trouble.
I don't want HATE to be spread towards VrChat and Onlyfans E-girls because of Twitch's faulty management! I don't want to see Vtubers, VrChat, and Onlyfans E-girls ATTACK each other over it! If I were in charge, there wouldn't BE a DOUBLE STANDARD!
Because idiotic child-minded white women write them and say "so you advertised in Nightmare on Elm street so that means you are actively telling everyone who uses Crest to kill women.' - 2 + 2 really does equal 5
As a struggling up and comer in the genre... I advocated for this in another life and I'll start doing it again in this one. the SEVERE double standard VTubers face on all platforms is aggregious, and having our own specific platform would be THE best thing for the community as a whole. It's worked with fetish content creators, it's worked with people who fill specific niches like drawing and so on with things like Picarto and such. I think the way of the future of the internet is everyone pushing themselves into their own little corner and people just traveling from one corner to the other if need be.
@@astarothk2273 true. but the fact of the matter is they still do anyway so we need to think of alternatives instead of just hoping that they'll stop being politically charged when we know that they won't.
Even when I say my life vlogs, YT has been downvoting my videos to the point or completely having all my up and down votes to zero. At this point, I'm liking the like and dislike to be dissapearing.
If Twitch not ban anything but UA-cam ban everything, I for one will probably spend more time on Twitch just because the content will not be repetitive. I feel YT has become kinda mundane lately.
I found Twitch in 2013 thanks to Pokémon and found my friend through her stream. Thanks to that, I've watched the site become what it is and it's very sad.
It is really weird.. I don't know of anybody that thinks a commercial on UA-cam is a direct endorsement of the creator itself.. Yet everybody thinks that they're somehow related to the person, if they see an add on that persons vid.
I still game as an pngtuber/vtuber. I love how Twitch gave us interactive things for the viewers to interact with the streamer. I'm just tired of the cherry-picking on rule enforcement. I've tried Kick but I've had more harassment than Twitch from the viewers. So it wasn't worth streaming there if I had to keep pausing to block others. With twitch, I know there is a witch hunt going on for us vtubers and it's getting ridiculous. I haven't found another platform that is interactive like twitch.
Marketing violence to minors is a bigger issue. Kids don't understand or care about port. But they do understand violence and readily imitate violent videos and games. And nobody cares at all about this. Weapons, okay! Boobies, oh HECK no!
Twitch suffered because it used to be a single-focus website. When it started to allow other content it slowly became the same as every other streaming site, so now it's no longer special. If I can get the same content from one website, why would anyone go to another website? Its inconsistency is making a lot of vTubers want to no longer stream on Twitch.
Years ago they had an opportunity to correct the ship and prioritize Gaming and shut Hottub streamers and commentators down. But they chose not to. So they did it to themselves.
My primary Twitch channels are a guy that usually burns maps and other stuff into Brain tanned buckskin, a channel that has PCG and Embervale for play on it, and a couple streamer that does videogames and a couple of 3.5 campaigns! The only adultish stuff i know about Twitch is stuff that you and others talk about!
I still see a good chunk of Twitch streamers playing video games, but the constant ad breaks are really killing the enjoyment of the site & the fact that they're trying to take down adblockers makes it even worse. Every time I see that Spectrum Sports package ad every 20 minutes, the more desperate I believe Disney is getting.
I hate how much control the advertisers have. As far as I’m concerned who gives a toss who you advertise too. Get sales make profit from the widest market. Because i guarantee people seeing that ads don’t give a toss what ad they see, well the sane people.
Twitch's double standards have become so blatant and hostile, I'm surprised there hasn't been any announcement for an alternative platform for vtubers. Maybe Kick can take that on, but I'm not too sure. I don't have any personal issues with Kick, but I know some big advertisers steer clear of it due to Kick's reputation of platforming "politically incorrect" people. So I don't see Cover and the like jumping over to Kick. But hey, weirder things have happened these last 5 years.
I wonder how they fumbled this in 2015 they had an integrated plan that involved Twitch, Amazon Merch, Kindle, (i forgot their print on demand book service) and Amazon logistics that sounded like a great thing on paper. 🤔
Twitch could be such a good platform for streamers if it was run by people who were actually smart and not horrible people with double standards as to how they treat people.
Imagine if it was against Terms Of Service to have a live camera or avatar on screen. You could still interact with chat but is was about actual content. That way if you earn a ban it's because of content and not just about what you are wearing or your avatar looks like.
I kinda feel like it's unlikely Twitch will go anywhere. This is really reminding me of how so many people have been saying for years that Twitter is imploding and would be ded soon. Maybe I'm wrong though, and Twitch actually will go down.
Twitch's disgusting double standards when it comes to how they treat certain people is infuriating. Especially with how they treat Vtubers.

A vtuber can get perma-banned for a violation, and that same violation would only get a camgirl like 3 days or so. Kick seems to be inviting vtubers with open arms as well. I use UA-cam because I like the VOD discoverability. Thanks for always making such amazing videos!
Isn't Pippa on Kick and she can say a little bit more things on her mind.
They kind of deserve it given Twitch has been target shuttin down vtubers ocnstantly.
i hadnt heard about that as i see lots of 'vtubers' on twitch lately
@@Guardian582 They're targeting smaller indie Vtubers who don't have financial, agency back up or close friend with top tier Vtubers like Ironmouse.
They even targeting Nyanners after she quit Vshojo. So it's obvious they targeting everyone who don't have legal consultants supporting them.
@@kos2919 ok and why are they doing this, because of the 'v' part?
@@Guardian582 Pretty much. Current Twitch CEO showing his Twitch follow and they're all skin twitch thoths. Vtubers on the other hand using anime avatar means women who's not as pretty or sexy can also compete. This of course miffed all those twitch thoths.
@@kos2919 ah
4:55 Ah yes, the infamous "Spider-Man Marries Elsa!" vid where a guy in a Spider-Man suit dry-humped a girl in Elsa cosplay while a bunch of other people in costumes watched and cheered. I may have the title wrong, but 90% sure I got the gist of the vid correctly.
still dont understand why advertisers care whether their ads appear on "controversial videos" as long as it isnt adult ads on kids videos, they shouldnt care as long as they make money
That is the reason why Twitch is falling, it bans controversial topics. In social media, if you cannot talk about it, why should people listen? Twitch has to start producing its own content, if it wants to be run like antenna TV: You watch or turn away.
ahh the good ol days when there were no automatic ads and 99.9999% gaming.
A while back people told me to stream on Twitch but I didn't because UA-cam already had streaming by then and I couldn't understand why I'd waste my time starting up a whole new social media presence just for that. This makes me glad I didn't listen lol.
I think getting negative attention from ADL didn't help with their advertisement.
Many stupid rules lead to stupid prizes.
@@darthlaurel Even worse UA-cam will run adds on demonetized videos and not pay the content creator. This happens a lot on pro 2A videos.
I only watched one channel on Twich, as soon as UA-cam allowed them to simultaneously stream on both platforms I've never been back.
It isn't imploding SOON Enough!
If they enforced their rules on RL streamers as harshly as they do VTubers, they wouldn't have any problem at all. But instead what do we get? RL streamers with dedicated butt-cams while twitch moderators measure the length of a VTuber's skirt like a disapproving 1940s school teacher.
Having a smaller profitable company is better than a big unprofitable one
when the question changes from "what can't I say? to "what am I allowed to say?" then yeah, twitch is done, because now, if you're a twitch streamer, the question is "what am I allowed to say?"
the censorship has gotten so bad, there are people getting banned for things other people, who just have a different gender, sexuality, skin color, or language are allowed to say.
like why is hasan not banned, but asmongold is?
What we need is an automated system whereby “reaction” channels automatically share revenue with the original creator. Would sort out a lot.
The fucking deergasm will never not be the face of twitch
That thumbnail is not very Shikanoko noko Koshitantan because that's No Deer. That's wannabe deer :v
Twitch still has some let's play streamers still. Though I wait for them to uplaid their VoDs to YT, cuz, yea Twitch
Oh deer
Roadhouse
Rule #232: Everything woke turns to what everybody? 💩
Prove it wrong…. 🤷♂️
Some Christian’s have been getting banned on twitch for years.
Rumble gaming is so much better
Let Twitch perish.
And the crowd goes mild. And thus... another famous gaming studio dies to DEI.
Twitch was over when they promoted deer-person.
4:39 nah, it was the bridge incident nwrod that triggered the adpocalyse
This is why every platform should be common-ground if you lean more in one direction it will falter really fast.
No Geeky? Damn!
Funny thing is that they used to have a general content platform in Justin TV. That floundered and Twitch took off as a video game content platform. So Justin TV was closed and the focus went to Twitch. Now it looks like Twitch has become the general content platform and is in trouble.
Nothing controversial = Nothing interesting.
This is nothing new. In the 90s you couldn't sell a CD without a warning label.
Can you change the layout back after the election? As someone who watches primarily on mobile I can't read the text for crap
I'm here for it.
Why do advertisers care who their products are advertised to?
They're there to sell something, not dictate social issues.
Because idiotic child-minded white women write them and say "so you advertised in Nightmare on Elm street so that means you are actively telling everyone who uses Crest to kill women.' - 2 + 2 really does equal 5
A bigots money spends as well as a saints.
I think the way of the future of the internet is everyone pushing themselves into their own little corner and people just traveling from one corner to the other if need be.
it wouldnt be so bad if none of these platforms also editorialized, played favorites, and basically did everything a publisher does
@@astarothk2273 true. but the fact of the matter is they still do anyway so we need to think of alternatives instead of just hoping that they'll stop being politically charged when we know that they won't.
Is the Deer Person really a thing again 3ish years later? Goddess help us all.
OH GOD, YES.
I like that take.
It was going towards "ban stuff", but then it oppened the choice to allow it all. Great.
I haven't found another platform that is interactive like twitch.
nothing of importance will be missed.
i don't get advertisers not wanting to post on controversial videos on the internet, as they had zero issue doing it to content on tv since forever.
The entire board of Twitch should be in prison for marketing pornography to minors.
Marketing violence to minors is a bigger issue. Kids don't understand or care about port. But they do understand violence and readily imitate violent videos and games. And nobody cares at all about this. Weapons, okay! Boobies, oh HECK no!
@@LatitudeSkyI hate aboutism. Stop it.
I agree, they choose to allow pornography on a site that hosts minors, the illegality is clear and they should be locked up for decades.
I never used twitch...and never will.
Before and after Twitch Vtuber, this has been long overdue
Companies need to start getting comfortable advertising on non-"family friendly" content. It's getting absurd.
My tts doesn't read kick or youtube so I'm stuck on twitch until they close down. So much for accessibility, right?
Twitch has a problem with deer infestation... and it's huntin' season...
Seeing the deer person on the thumbnail made me assume UA-cam was trying to suggest a 3+ year old video again lol
The issue is that too many of these advertisers are boomers that don’t understand people on the internet.
Oh no...
Well don't worry they banned President Trump so you should be safe
I still see a good chunk of Twitch streamers playing video games, but the constant ad breaks are really killing the enjoyment of the site & the fact that they're trying to take down adblockers makes it even worse.
Every time I see that Spectrum Sports package ad every 20 minutes, the more desperate I believe Disney is getting.
the trouble with twitch is censoreship -- they should start charging creators 5-7 bucks a month to stream at above 480p
All marketing does is tend to get me to dislike the product. Truth is the truth.
