That was quite a fair summary. You omitted the fact that Erdoğan and the AKP consolidated power by incarcerating journalists and closing or buying up media outlets until opposing voices were silenced. But you are correct in that the lack of an attractive, uncorrupt alternative has helped him stay in power.

Turkey has a lot of potential. It has a high, growing and educated population, has control over the euphrates and tigris rivers and the straits which could give it a lot of leverage. It is surrounded by weaker countries, which it could gain a lot of influence over. I think the hardest part is leadership. Turkey needs good leadership for the following decades to open room for the use of such opportunities.

The framing of this video was heavily biased in his favor. “victim of his own success”? Seriously tldr? “unorthodox economic policy” Thats quite a generous way to put it. “Presided over impressive economic growth” rode on the back of the international economic growth leading up to 2008 and has been shrinking since 2013. “Long period of political stability” A rule characterized by political and civil crackdowns, attacks on civil liberties, total erosion of the rule of law, ever increasing authoritarianism and centralization of power, entrenchment of his lackeys in positions of power in every level, and worse relations with every single neighbouring state.

Sometimes, a more partisan perspective can tell a more complete and accurate story, and sometimes, the opposite is true. TLDR strives to be more nonpartisan, the benefit of which is to keep the attention of viewers who might have a variety of perspectives. These videos are meant to inform, not to persuade.

It's hard to say the national debts has driven inflation high, because it just depreciated the currency and made foreign debts and imports incredibly expensive (mainly because the central bank had a small amount of foreign currency). Furthermore the real wage growth was too high (for international competition) what increased inflation even more. And on top there was the imported inflation through high energy prices etc. But I wouldn't say it's a fault. He just wanted to help Turkeys population (I hope so), but that's difficult when it costs international competition advantages.

People are now more divided than ever. Next turkish guy on this comment will probably oppose me and accuse me for being a traitor. Economy is horrible and every part of the state is corrupted to its core. Crimes and criminals walk free while goverment opposers are thrown in jail. Their dictatorial mind runs on banning everything. First wikipedia, youtube then instagram, roblox and now discord. If you have any relative working in goverment (same applies for oppsition) you need no qualification for anything, your relavtive will pull a few strings to get you in a important and well paying job. Also after the 2023 earthquake turkish people have gathered around 115 billion turkish lira to redevelop destoyed cities. And we don't even know where that money went because gov rejected to open logs to people. The illegal immigrants are just entering turkey waving their arms because there is no south border anymore. Currently turkey is hosting around 15 million immigrants which messed up multiple sectors such as housing, internal security, umeployment (because they work for much cheaper than turks).Education is a joke, security is a joke, economy is a joke, external affairs is a joke, every single detail about this country is a big joke we are literally worlds test server for upcoming patches.

Never underestimate a populist right winger's ability to squeeze votes out of the areas that are affected the worst out of his policies.
See Israel, where despite the South being under constant bombardment and negative economic growth for two decadesstill overwhelmingly vote for Netanyahu.
I expect even October 7th won't change their voting patterns.
When I heard that the areas that were affected the most by the recent earthquake in Turkey are poor and voted overwhelmingly for Erdogan, even though it was his buddies that housed those poor people in shoddy construction- than I knew, it's the same all over the world. No matter how bad it gets, people vote right wing populists and will never sway.
