Never forget my grandmother Willa that taught Merle Haggard to play guitar yes my mother is Merle haggard's second cousin it's just a big music family she got to meet all of them my favorite pictures are her with Elvis Presley when they were young.. and please don't forget my mother is the one that Merle pulled on her ponytails in my Grandpa's church to get her to scream and it's always been a good family memory... Even though I never met Earl's kids my name is Scotty too..... We all had to be separated to protect our families so we could live a normal life... Even me having a FBI Daddy watching over me... But I won't forget my Grandma will Hickman talk so many people to play guitar it wasn't long after her passing away they close the Grand Ole Opry she knew so many of them I'm just glad we lived out west and hiding because now I'm 50 years old and I'm actually still alive and I'm on the road all the time

Never forget Merle saw Johnny play in prison and it made him want to be a performer. Now they are both famous on stage. So awesome.

Paulie Copez I was thinking while watching this magnificent show about Johnny going to San Quinton where Merle was incarcerated and doing a show for them. I know in Merles wildest dreams at the time he could not imagine being on stage with Johnny and both being two of the biggest Icons and legends Country music has ever had .

    • @donaldfowler7117

@Matthew Robertson Cash had Sam Phillips bail him out of a ton of situations that should have landed him in prison, more than once; but his fame and the influence of Sun Records (and it’s money) kept him from it. Luckily Cash didn’t start really raising Cain until he’d found fame or he might’ve met Merle in San Quentin another way….
For instance, he was caught at the border, and once on a plane with drugs. In those days a small amount of marijuana would’ve landed the average joe a hefty jolt in prison; the hard drugs he was caught with would’ve been worse especially when charged as federal crimes, (which taking drugs across an international border or on a plane would’ve been; then and now). But, due to his fame, wealth, influence of his friends/label, and white skin, he avoided what would’ve normally happened in favor of large fines, community service, and probation. He caught on and straightened up when he became involved romantically with the love of his life, June Carter (who’d become June Carter Cash in time). The movie “Walk the Line” shows a bit of this; albeit with some details omitted or simplified, for the sake of drama or it being counter to the story they wanted to tell. You probably knew all that anyway, I bet.

Amen and it maybe hard for others to believe but if they were children of God in the end if they have there hearts to God and ask there sins be forgiven they then one day again the will have brand new body's be so young looking and never age ever ever ever again it's a promise God has made us one passage in the Bible says that in my father's house are many mansions if it were not so I would not have told you so so I go to prepare a place for you that to me makes me jump for joy and another one says we shall run and not be weary we shall never get sick we will never grow old we won't feel no pain and suffering anymore in these perfect bodies that we will have heaven will be right here on Earth if you don't know it that is the New Jerusalem is coming down and it will be right here the Earth replenished by God only to kick all the bad out and the evil and now it would be a perfect world now amen and amen

What makes even better is my oldest son 24 has him and alot of the greats in his playlist Haggard, Coe, Cash,Jennings and more. Proud papa just for that country is not what it used to be. It's really hard to find this quality country music today, even on so-called country radio stations.
Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Hank Jr., Jerry Reed, Vince Gill, Emmy Lou, Linda Ronstadt, Leanne Rimes, Dolly Parton, so many more.
Thank God for UA-cam and those who post the music of this genre.
Uplifting and melancholy at the same time.....

I get shivers when I listen to these amazing stars, who never became too " big" even though they were astonishing. What talented people. It's a big pity that real people like this are far and few.
