    There surely is “so much power I can’t use it and it bothers me”. My last bike was a 1290R and tbh I think I’ll get something 30-40hp less next as long as it handles very well. Mid corner dynamics is where the fun is, at least to me.

      I think the sweet spot is a Triumph Street Triple 764 or Duke 890. I like to see electric suspension on middle weights instead of only putting them on hyper bikes. Being able to switch from comfort to sport with a button is so nice but I don't need 190whp.

      You people are forgetting that these bikes are Adventure bikes that are built to cover large, large distances, with multiple gas fill-ups... Where this horsepower comes in handy is on long highway rides, giving you a much smoother and softer ride at much lower RPMs, on lower gears all while riding at the same speeds that you would be redlining on or be in higher gear on or both, on lower CC/HP bikes.

    My 90s 60hp 400cc is all I need for twisties and city rides, hitting that 14k RPM redline through gears and still going at manageable speeds feels really good. However, struggle at the highway so I think something around 100hp is the sweetspot for a good all-rounder.
    Btw: I saw your beginnings on a CB500, which influenced my decision of a bike purchase a lot. I figured if I master the 400 first it will be very beneficial in the long run so kudos to you for showing us that starting on a lower cc will build superior skills.

    Above 140hp starts to be unusable on the road. I have a Street Triple 675 with 105hp which is almost always at full throttle and also a 170hp Tuono V4 thar I rarely take to the redline on the road. So 130/140hp is perfect. The current Street Triple 765RS is the closest to the perfect road motorcycle that i can think of.

      @@MrGeati6783 I'm not using obviously 140hp all the time. My comment was that with 130-140hp I have more than enough power at most rpm in normal use, obviously I'm not using all the power every second, but with 40hp, for example, I have to run the engine at more rpm and do a more aggressive ride so with more power I can be more relax and the engine too. More than 140, for me, it's too much easy to loose control without any electronics. Under that, I can handle without no big problems. Obviously I'm not free of danger, I'm not saying that at all.

      @@riderktm16 thats a big problem of many engines used in motorcycles. Torque multiplied with revs is power. Low rpm and high torque engines are more efficient and have better use on public roads. Suzuki Bandit 1250 for example...108nm at 3700rpm with 98hp. Don't fool yourself with big numbers. Hard to say, my faster bike has 110HP and i barely can use that (only electronics is injection). For sure I wouldn't be able to do that on such kind of road. Moreover on a 4cyl engine the power & torque will come later, in the 2nd half of rpm band. But mostly on a public road I do not want to be in the highest rpm. So I guess using maybe 70-80PS feels already very exciting to me, with occasional spikes on longer straights...
    I also ride a NC which is no power beast but relatively torque. On such twisty roads its 50-55HP are as exciting to me as 110HP and I am barely slower with that, here I indeed can use ALL of the power the NC engine provides. Just the narrow band where it delivers power can be sometimes frustrating.
    There is a curvy road in my vincinity where I have to shift down to 2nd for 1-2 seconds but then I am instantly again in the rev limiter, staying in 3rd however feels to slow in most bends there.

    There is not really "too much power". Your wrist decides how much power you use.

      Heh. You're paying for them to create a smokin hot engine and then paying even more for them to install a mess of electronics/software to attenuate it so that you don't kill yourself.
      You could go down the same road at the same speed on something much simpler, cheaper, and less powerful.

      Wrong. There is too much power. My Multistrada is too powerful. When I can't use all the power anywhere except a freeway ramp for one second, it's too powerful. I will buy a less powerful bike next time.
      Let's see your wrist pin the throttle at 9500rpm on a back road.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  24 дні тому +1

      Indeed, the Multistrada is SO powerful that even I rarely ever get to make use of it
