@BIGGGESTAL what basics have I missed? Other than the service intervals and warranty, both of which prospective buyers will research. Making these videos is about capturing key info but also making them watchable
I like it gonna test ride one this weekend your review was clear and informative. To be fair 2hrs on any bike is enough for me always need a refuel for the bike and a cuppa and a butty on route anyway. I find if your riding in a group your always stopping for the rider with the smallest fuel tank anyway so range is not really a big deal unless your riding solo and not part of a group. I think it’s much better looking than a BMW1300 GS once you start adding the extras on to the BMW GS it will be more expensive than this Ducati anyway.
Seats are subjective, though I've replaced the seats on the motorcycles I've owned for any length of time. Fuel mileage sounds decent, given the size of the engine. I toured and commuted on my ST3 until it hit 125k miles, so reliability on a newer Ducati like this wouldn't worry me either. I already went a different direction, but a multi similar to this was on my shortlist.
It’s a beautiful bike and total weapon on the road. I test rode the V4S last summer and was very tempted but price and insurance cost ultimately got in the way. Living in London without a garage means no insurer would touch it sadly. So to get it I’d have to move house 😢
Well, I’ve never owned a Ducati and never owned a GS until March this year. The GS1300 has been an utter revelation. An absolute joy to ride. 9500 miles with no issues. Fitted with SWMotech soft panniers (check out Tony’s review of these) which have worked a treat.
Just finished a 4000 mile run to the Black Sea and back - 650miles a day was no trouble , fuel consumption gave the 180 to 200 miles tank range which was an ideal length for each stop. - seat was fine after being on it all day. Sat Nav flatters to deceive , no idea why Ducati use the Sygic system- and if the temps get up to 41C as I had, your phone is baked despite the fan as it must have the screen on all the time - accuracy , updates and mapping are poor in my opinion. You do get some annoying wind disturbance between the screen edge and mirror that set up turbulence on my helmet which became tiresome. Screen position made zero difference to it. Different helmet may improve it of course. Sustained speeds of 120mph on the autobahn with luggage starts to cause a little weave - jacking the preload up in the menu on the rear helped but 112 mph is the Ducati recommended maximum. Overall, was a nice way to see the Carpathian Mountains
Great review Tony. i do like the look of the bike, lets face it when comes to adventure bikes, the multistrada is the supemodel. I guess the fuel consumption isnt such an issue on models like the Pikes Peak but on the Grand Tour? That said, youre probably ready for a break anyway and sitting with a coffee and looking at your Ducati isnt going to be to much of a chore is it.
Great review. A lovely bike if you can afford to buy and run it. Personally my KTM Super Adventure S does the same job and it does 50 mpg minimum so thats my choice.👍

If someone wants a sports bike with adventure seating (and has deep pockets) it's not a bad choice..... but as adventure bikes go I think there are better all round options

The Rally has a 30 L aluminium fuel tank, where the V4S has a 22 L plastic tank. The Rally has longer suspension travel, with 200 mm in the front and rear, compared to the V4S's 170 mm in the front and 180 mm in the rear. It also has spoked wheels (the front being a 19 inch rather than 17 inch) and a wider, taller windscreen than the V4S. I belive the rally also have the rear cylinder deactivation on it?
I want a tourer, but not at that price. I'll wait for the new 1390SAS, it'll have all the same gizmos, but none of the drawbacks you mentioned (except perhaps the seat, KTM can't make a comfy seat either).
OMG, if there was ever a bike to replace my Tiger 1050 Sport this is it…. The stance is perfect…. Your review is compelling…. But…. The price…. I don’t mind paying for a brand as long as it is reasonable but this is too much.. Damn !
I loved my 2010 Multistrada 1200 and rode it to the demo ride of the V4 when released. While the V4 was much smoother and had some more modern features, the 1200 felt smaller, and looked like a much prettier bike parked side by side. As it is, the price has crept to crazy levels, and the fuel range of the standard bike at least, is terrible. The Tiger 1200 looks like a better overall balance in most areas to me, at least at this point.
Wow. Yes, but if that's your thing is ut worth the extra over something like the new GSX1000 with panniers, Suzuki's tall rounder? Thats an awful lot of drinking vouchers. Not my thing but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate it for what ut is. Something for everyone. Ride safe 👍

I must confess to using an air hawk for touring. All day in any motorcycle seat can usually be painful. I hate to say it, but some of your facts are wrong. There is no mention of the 4 yr warranty and breakdown cover. Really long service intervals, compared to the competition. Radar cruise, blind spot warning. So much adjustment on everything. Poor uninformed review. I am biased as I own a Multistrada V4s Full. I love her more than my wife and kids. 😂
Thanks for the feedback, but not mentioning something doesn't count as wrong?! I research all of the details when I take a bike and Ducati always provide a data sheet. If I make an error, i'm happy for that to be pointed out. Service intervals aren't particularly different to most of its competition, and I mentioned the Radar Cruise One minute in and blind spot detection 15 seconds later. So, as I say happy, to be corrected on errors, but not by a poor, uninformed comment. But thanks for posting 👍

There is no mention of the counter rotating crankshaft that aids cornering.
I absolutely adore mine. 3yrs 24000 miles in.

I even do track days on mine.
Valve clearances service is 36000 miles.
The heat isn't an issue, trust me. The heat is pushed well out of the way.

For the price of one V4GT. I'd rather have a 1260S/GT and have a tuono v4 1100 Factory alongside it.
The small tank put me off, but this & the rs could change my mind. But i really really do luv my ktm. & i have no more room in my garage. 😢

It returned 42mpg over 4000 miles with some sustained high speed runs.

No, this bike has a 22 litre tank.
