Quick maths: 12/53 x 11/52 x 10/51 x 9/50 x 8/49 = 95040/34436220 = 792/2869685 = 0.00027598847 = 0.028% chance of drawing 5 swamps off the top off a keep with 3 in the opener. That's roughly one out of 3600 games. If you played this deck and had and opener with 3 swamps 10 times every day its likely you would see that happen once a year.

@@KevinC137 the 12/53 and so on means the chance to draw one of the 12 swamp left in the deck out of the 53 cards left in the library. you then multiply it by the "second event" which is now 11 swamps in 52 cards and so on (5 times in this case since he drew 5 consecutive swamps). Shuffler is fine.
@@KevinC137 so u basically multiply each chance of drawing any swamp from the library. first chance is 12 swamps out of 53 cards which u multiply with the second chance that now is 11 swamps out of 52 cards and so on for 5 times (the number of time he draw the consecutive swamps) and you get (after multipling for 100) the % chance of that event happening. Shuffler is fine.
he calculated dependent probabilites. every remaining swamp/every other card in deck left+the remaining swamps. then you have to multiplicate with every following event. therefore after the first drawn swamp 11 left instead of 12 and 52 left cards instead of 53.
you could do the same with odds simply by dividing throu every other card leaving out the swamps. odds are chances against failures. probability are not quite the same.

Yeah the dies to doom blade nature made it not as potent as it could be. Also the absence of a lot of midrange and most being either aggro or control
Maybe now I can pick one up for commander sometime in the next decade for less than $60

I think the monored guy said "oops" because he cast the monstrous rage before attacking, where if he waited you might've blocked with dreamthief. Don't think he was trying to BM you lol
Either that or he attacked Lilliana by mistake. There's almost no circumstances I'd give up a face hit for 6-7 there against a fully tapped opponent, with Lilliana on only 1 loyalty.
I made my mono black deck's sideboard based on your new deck, so that I can downgrade my mana curve in classic.

Hey CGB do you play Elden Ring or any other games when you arent on MTG arena?
I'm not very good at evaluating cards within a format, but over the years I've gotten better at evaluating cards individually. What exactly is wrong with Deep Cavern Bat? This is the first time I've seen it but Duress was played in every black deck it was legal to play it in so what about attaching it to a body makes it undesirable? What am I missing?
Mostly the fact that it's easily killable and they get the card back when it dies. Cards similar to the bat have seen play before, to varying effectiveness, but they are certainly more unreliable than cards like duress since the stolen card isn't gone for good.

What's the odds of 5 straight lands after a keep? Pretty damn good according to arena 60% of the time that's how my games go 😂😂
Even tho it's extremely low, the draw is not random due to the shuffler. So... It happens way more often. I actually did draw more than that. Started with 3 lands on my domain, drew 7 more in a row 😂
The best remedy against Mana Screw is to saddle a Bronco.

Interestingly, Bronco doesn’t actually draw a card. It reveals the top card and puts it into hand, which doesn’t trigger draw effects.
Too bad to lose against stupid opponents like the Steven guy, but sometimes they just draw the cards, played that game well despite the mana screw tho
To CGB's credit, he DID say he dislikes the bats only IF you're not closing out the game... Looks like [black] coffee is for closers on this one.

It still looks like Sheoldred should be ran in some number just because of how much card draw is in the deck, but I trust CGB w/ his deck building.

Love this deck, though I have learned that the lands that are/make creatures are pretty important, as they give you a fallback vs control board clears, and in grindy match ups.
Tbh I think the mono red player wasn't BMing. I think they realized that going face was the play.
I feel like one less Gix and add an obliterator may be a better mix

I like the video! I do prefer longer content, however, I 100 percent support doing what it takes to not burn out. And going to Amsterdam... let me just say visit the cafe, wander around downtown, get lost, and then find yourself some sweet 3 table Argentinian streakhouse. A great way to spend an afternoon.

@@FrenchCanadianGuy It makes them stand apart because it's a bad system. There's a reason modern CCGs don't make 1/3+ of your cards bland resources, and turn 5% of games into blowouts against a paralyzed player.

23:12 I have never seen Arena auto assign combat damage in that way. It knew to only assign 1 damage to each creature to get the full deathtouch effect instead of doing the full 2 damage to the first creature. Good on Arena but I wish this was more visible during the damage step
