Friendly neighborhood ENFP here! As you said in the video it can sometimes be hard to express just what Fi feels in words, but I think I will give it a shot. I am deeply grateful to have you back making videos again. You have an intellectual yet simple and digestible way of explaining all of the topics you engage with. Having your videos as a resource I can send to people who do not want to get into that Ni or Fi level of depth on particular topics has been beyond useful. It's through your videos actually that I got both my mom and my sister (INFJ,ENTJ) into personality theory and it has been and continues to be one of the most beneficial things we have done. So I hope you understand the positive impact sharing things like this can have and I hope it fuels that (Fi)re for you just a little more!
You guys are the best. We LOVE YOU. We can never stay mad at you, if we ever even get even slightly mad at all. You are the most special of all. If you are ever down, just find an INFJ or INTJ, and we will lift you up. I have an enfp friend who I love to put on my couch, with a nice pillow, and a blanket. And she just does her thing, but I make sure she is well taken care of and nurtured. -INFJ
Such an insightful video. The disillusionment with reality due to Fi’s ideals resonates with me so much. The Te users in my family often say I’m too pessimistic. When a negative event occurs where I’m reminded of my ideals not matching up with reality, I get caught in a very bitter, resentful place. Saying things like “if only you had done xyz, I wouldn’t be in this situation. My life is ruined. This isn’t fair.“ literally an Fi-Si loop I think
I am 41 and I feel I’m only really beginning to truly express my INFP. I always tested for this type but never felt like it fully resonated so didn’t take it seriously. I can see now I was doing Fe and Te a lot in work and life. And it was stressful!!! My dark night of the soul started 3 years ago. Having come out the other side I can see it was a process of reorienting myself, transforming my life and work, and shedding everything that was not me. I’ve been learning so much about types in the last few days. And INFP really resonates now. In the last few weeks I’d actually been crafting and writing my personal honour code, to help me live and practice my values. So yeah your Fi description is so true for me! Retraining as a therapist has helped me create a detailed map of my inner life. I have now embraced my suffering and darkness. Going into the depths of my shadow, has opened me up to the light. It does feel divinely guided.
Thank you for the video Alexis! I believe that introverted feeling is actually a superpower, but, it's often camouflaged as a super weakness untill we find a source of beauty and inspiration. When inspired, our eyes shine brightly in an otherwise dark world!
@21:15 The struggle to stop this cycle is so heavy. I wish there were some kind of magic that could just remove the anxiety about being always alone, always feeling misunderstood, and like I (we?) are just too much for almost anyone to want to be around. I hadn’t heard most of the research and descriptions before. I agree that Jung sounded like he was just being a jerk toward a type he didn’t like; it seemed like Van set Hoop really tried to make a more honest and balanced assessment. @24:03 Dammit 😂 Also, first time seeing your channel. Thanks for doing this deeper dive into what this actually means. New sub!
Hi Alexis, appreciate your videos so much they have been extremely helpful in my path of understanding cognitive functions. As an ISTJ who can definitely be one of those Te tyrants I think I've found the perfect word to describe the shadow side of the Te - Fi axis: Imperious 'assuming power or authority without justification; arrogant and domineering'. Fi is the fuel by which the tyrant imperiously assumes power.
Now that I I'm an INFP, i remember being 13/14 and watching an anime on tv that mentioned the word melancholic and feeling that it described me perfectly. Now I know why, its was not my imagination nor me trying to be something i was not 😅
Your videos on attitude-functions are really enlightening, knowing that it's not easy to find resources on this subject specifically. I've read Jung's original book, Myer Briggs' original book, Mark Hunziker's book, John Beebe's book and several of Marie Louise Van Franz's books (which weren't necessarily the main subject, but they do contain a lot of information about psychological types) and yet I still found it hard to pin down each function-attitude precisely enough. On the subject of musical trends, I'd add the Grunge movement, and Nirvana in particular, Kurt Cobain being INFP. Look at the lyrics of Lithium for example, they're very clearly Fi without a doubt. And on the subject of Fi-induced discouragement and the feeling of being misunderstood, being INFP I can confirm that, but I can tell you that your videos are really useful to me and will be to a lot of other people, and it's not for lack of trying to find out, believe me :)
This is very comforting and horribly unsettling. Thank you so much! I appreciate you and everything you do. Well maybe not everything, but 👍 to what I've seen.
Good question! INFJs are introverts who are feelers, but they don't use the Cognitive Function called "Introverted Feeling" (abbreviated Fi) -I have a Myers Briggs 101 playlist which starts with the 4 letters and then explains what Cognitive Functions are: ua-cam.com/play/PLo0hph_vdC9MvzTZWl2xEzUcAjWfiu0ep.html -If you would like to know INFJ cognitive functions, I have an intro video on all the types - here is the INFJ one: ua-cam.com/video/nw81gJTd5FY/v-deo.html
I want you to know that you’re not alone in this and that life doesn’t have to be this way forever 🌸 One of the most helpful advice I found to get out of this cycle is to acknowledge your feelings, but don’t let yourself feel into them deeply. Move on; look for the beauty in life, learn to be kind and loving to yourself. See mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow! And, if you’d like, lend your strength and/or support to issues that matter to you. Together, we can make a change and create a world more inviting for the generations coming after us ☺️
Van Der hoop wins this round.

This is honestly the best synthesis of these I've seen on UA-cam. Whatever you do with your channel, I always appreciate it.
Thank you for the video Alexis!

Loving this series! I'm looking forward to the NI one!
Van der Hoop is really on point. Thank you this video is the best that I have found about introverted feeling.

Thanks, babe. Love that you're sharing the history. ❤ articulate and organized.
Gotta be one of the best videos deep diving on this subject.

to me, melacholy is... uplifting kind of sadness :3

This was wonderful made 😊
Thank you I really appreciate everything you're saying. now more computers of which one am I 😄🤷🏾♂️🤔
No one knows whats it's like... to be the sad man...to be the bad man... behind Fi...buuuut my dreaaams they aren't...
Okay I'll stop now 😅
nah, I get u
This is very good. What jobs would be ideal for us
Problem is, fi is not similarly enneagram 4. Some authors combined that with fi.
Isn’t infj introverted feeling? and esfp extroverted feeling?
No...
Infj - Ni Fe
Esfp - Se Fi
