Erik Bentley that's how you know he juices-he's never said he doesn't, and he would brag about being natty if he actually was. I don't care if he juices, and I'm glad he doesn't claim natty.
stevenan93 Negative for several reasons 1. Maybe you'll shit yourself at the gym by the power output during the workout, which means you can't keep working out (you can though if you like smelling like shit and sitting in shit :p) 2. Stomach ache will keep you from going to the gym 3. After going to the hospital (to get the shit out of you) you wont be at full power meaning your workout will also lack of power 4. If nothing of the above happened you probably went to the bathroom or just died bcs of all the shit that is in your intestines Hope I helped you, I was kinda bored at class :p
Steve Harvey Well maybe it depends on how much you eat too, I eat like 4-5 meals a day. So if i don't poop every day I don't think I'm gonna do so well lmao
I love that this dude admits that he doesn't know everything, like how he isn't an expert on powerlifting so he recommends getting a powerlifting coach. He's humble and honest about what he is, knows, and practices. He doesn't act like everything he says is the best way. More youtubers should be like him so there is less misinformation and misconceptions in the fitness world
In case you don't want to watch the whole thing... (do) - Fully warm up your back and shoulders, press your shoulder blades together like you are holding a pencil between them, keep weight above elbows so you can exert the most force.
best way to increase your bench: keep benching what your bench until you feel completely comfortable and confident with it. then once it feels more or less easier for you, slap a 5 on each side and so on and so forth
Outlaw this right here is a good technique. I weigh 145 and managed to do 250x2. I’m dropping back down weight and working on getting 225 x 10 and 205x15. Once I can do the smaller weight comfortably I will move up and attempt a new max again. My goal is to get to 315 for a one rep max with the same body weight.
All of my lifts kept going up slowly and there was always progress. but my bench press was all over the place, one week was really good, others were crap at which my regular bench weight squished me. What I started then doing us superset ting bench press with Pullups, worked like a charm and my bench press is always the same and it progresses weekly. On top of that I do shoulder warmup etc
take your time. unless you are competing, lifting is a marathon, not a sprint. either increase the weight by 5lbs each week or try to focus on getting to 10 reps unassited for a couple of weeks and then move up a few lbs. also work on your back and triceps as they will help you improve your lifts too. also it might help to hit up chest twice a week as long as you spread it out and dont overwork your muscles.
I love how Bradley Martin tries to make a legit video, and most of the comments you see are about dom mazetti! Thank you Bradley Martin, for helping this feshman (in college) athlete get better with your videos.
I’ve been powerlifting for a while now and this is legit the first video I’ve come across on the internet that really hits on every technique for increase raw bench press accurately. I haven’t ever tried to do the warm up portion the way he did it in this video but as far the key points to focus on while benching he nailed it. Only other things is hand placement and breathing and that varies person to person so all in all great vid
I can now bench 420 pounds! Thanks! No but seriously I'm near an advanced level lifter and these warmup tips really helped I usually just do warm up sets on the bench but will incorporate some of these warm up excercises for sure.
Keep up the videos. I just hit a meet PR last weekend thanks to your tip to remember to keep my shoulders pinched. I knew it, but wasn't doing it. I got 551 pounds raw at 54 years old on my bench at my meet. I have only been lifting for 3 years and powerlifting for 2 years. You tube videos sure have helped me get my 6 National records and 1 World record in the last 2 years. Thanks to Spoto and Jeremy and all the other big benchers! Rock on!
Gainster G ... no, I'm at 285 if I stand on the scale, but if I put my hands on the scale in the push up position it reads 200. I'm just curious. I haven't attempted it at the gym yet.
Irving Sanguinetti more than likely yes you can, its a little different but if you can do a good pushup at 285 then a 200 pound bench press wont be too challenging for you i imagine.
Bradley Martin With these techniques with a 5 week training period my bench increased 70 pounds. To me the tight back hits my chest a lot more than a flat back. 90% of my workouts come off of your videos. Thanks brotha for the gains! Stay safe much love from Texas.
Awesome Bradley! 9:10 How have I never heard this life changing tip before??? I just had my first ever session on a bench without shoulder pain. I've always avoided the bench press because I know its going to mess my shoulder. Looking forward to my next chest session now! Thank you!
An example 135lbs 10-12 185lbs 10-12 205lbs 10-12 225lbs 8-10 245lbs 5 265-275 for 5 I found that flaring my elbows out a little more at my heavier presses helps, and when I get stronger I asjust my elbows somewhaat closer to my body. I started off doing 115lbs for 5 reps and 3 sets. Now I'm comfortable doing much more weight. My goal is to get to 315 atm.
lots of respect for saying get a coach for power lifting, I can only help so much. nothing impresses me more than people who admit they don't know, and I've noticed that others will appreciate you more when you admit it as well
The way I increased my bench super fast (for beginners); Training: trained 5 sets of 5 reps on the bench (very heavy). Once I could complete 3/4 entire sets with no spot, I'd move up by 5kg Nutrition: made sure I was in a huge caloric surplus, and ate a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight
The warm up you did with the small weights is actually a key warm up for rotator cuff. When I was a pitcher in baseball I literally did that same movement but without weights.
This is very informative overall. Took me a year to realize all this when benching and my bench immediately jumped once my tech was perfected. Like went from a paltry 225 to 255 in two weeks of proper form. Was so thrilled and my plateau was over. So I then went back and every single exercise I lightened weight and worked on exact form and my gains hit strong. Form over showing off weight, any day.
I am a bit late, but saw this a few days ago and decided to give it a try. I used to do 80kg x4 and 90 x2 (3 with a spotter). Today I hit some chest and with Bradley's warm up and technique I hit 80kg for 8 (had 1-2 more) and then last set 90kg x4 with ease. I would've gone for 1-2 more reps on my last set but I didn't have a spotter. Thanks for the great advice, Brad! Next chest day I'm going to try 100kg for the first time ever. I think I got it.
Hey Bradley, i'm actually achieving more strenght and ability to lift more weight with less repetitions with the first bench press tip that u rule out out in this video. It does seem as if my lats help a lot more rather than excluding them and shortening the range of motion. My feet stand different from yours, as they are more leened towards front rather than squared and separated from each other. I am at 215 with your technique and at 225 with the technique that u actually rule out in this video. Props for all the hard work and info.
When I think of Bradley Martyn, a few words that come to mind are bodybuilder and power lifter... BUT when I look deeper into his true abilities, I see an instrument. I see a unique hybrid that looks like a bodybuilder with amazing and optimal functional mechanics that also come across as traits of a powerlifter. Yet, something truly inspiring lies within Bradley's capabities.. explosiveness, power, speed, flexibilility, mobility to name a few... Ultimatley, he is a physiological superhuman
I will say that I love how you humbled yourself around the 11 minute mark when you explain that you're strong but you're not a powerlifter, so those seeking that lift style should seek more training. A lot of youtube guys won't humble themselves like that.
Damn these guys commenting negative stuff.. wow they make me so angry! It's a heart warming feeling to honestly say I can do the weight you did in your thumbnail, took prob way more years then you took but still feels good, and great video
In summary:
1) Warm up rotator cuff
2) Arch lower back
3) Keep upper back tight by keeping shoulder blades together
4) Keep the bar right above elbows
Wtf....
I was already doing that...
Thx
Soooo just do a bench normally

if i hold in my poop for three days how will that affect my chest gains?

I've not pooped for over a week before and it wasn't as bad as u said. You can actually hold your poop for a while but it isn't healthy.
Steve Harvey Well maybe it depends on how much you eat too, I eat like 4-5 meals a day. So if i don't poop every day I don't think I'm gonna do so well lmao
i poop 1-3 times a day, depending how much i eat that day.

Apsolutly agree my guy well said 👏
incase you don't want to watch the whole thing...basically arch your back when benching slightly.
Team Sheesh these are legit terrible cliffnotes.
Bradley Martyn 1. warm up. 2. arch back. 3 keep weight above your elbows. better?
Bradley Martyn 😂😂
In case you don't want to watch the whole thing... (do) - Fully warm up your back and shoulders, press your shoulder blades together like you are holding a pencil between them, keep weight above elbows so you can exert the most force.
