Hey brad. I’m 17 and I weight 135 pounds and I’m 6ft tall. I stared working out 4 months ago and it has really changed my life. I could only get 130 when I started and now I got 170 on bench a few days ago. Watching you and Steve and Kyle motivated me to start and I’m so happy I did. I’m motivated and love the gym. Thanks motivating me 💪🏽
For the folk hating on zippy, the guy is legit giving brad a positive comment, no one cares if you're younger or weigh less and bench more than him, no one asked for your input and no one asked for the negative feedback to a POSITIVE COMMENT
i used to always do close grip, index finger directly on the point where the gnerling starts. i was benching 245 for 2 close grip and i weigh 165. started going wider and i’m doing 245 for 4 now
Thank you so much! I tried this technique this morning & managed 1 extra rep on my max weight on the bench. Previously it was 2 reps with a struggle on the 2nd rep & the thought of a 3rd rep being some time away. Couldn't believe I managed 3 reps fairly comfortably by adopting the tips here. You rock bro!
Update6 months and I'm still loving this bench. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxo_64lVTGMk7y4aXTPxPOcQ3YTLyQ6kYV I use it almost daily. I've gotten used to the small wobble and it's no problem at all. Love the storage, it folds right next to my weight set in the garage and hardly takes any space. I wish the covering material was a little bit tougher. I have a feeling that in a couple years it'll tear, but the bench is very well priced that I would just buy a new one.3 month usage review. Awesome bench for someone looking for compactness and storage. I did have to drill a couple holes to adjust my preferred seating position and leg bar position but that's only due to my personal preference. It's very sturdy for normal workouts, but for anyone going above 100# dumbbell press it wobbles ever so slightly. I would probably go with a fixed bench if that's the case. That being said i can accomplish 99% of my normal gym workout with this setup. Very happy with the purchase.
I watched his video a few years ago and he talks about the pencil pinch.... that is 1000% best advice I have ever been given for growing my bench. 225lbs would have been a dream a year and half ago and just this past week I got 315lbs for 2 reps. Please do this if you aren’t already.
Hey bro I’ve been at the gym for 1 and half months and I’m not able to keep the pencil in between my back ( it just falls no matter how much I’m trying).
Close grip still works the same three muscle groups (chest, shoulder, triceps). It just puts more emphasis on the triceps. Not a bad exercise to keep in your repotoire.
Dang dude. Sometimes I feel like my bench is weak. I have really long arms and I always do what he says in the beginning of the video. I was doing it thumb width apart from the first ring. I’m definitely gonna try a wider grip next time I’m in the gym.
Man, Brad is the freaking best. Always spreading positivity and good vibes. Whenever I get out to LA I’m for sure stopping at Zoo and hopefully get to meet him.
This works 100%... I push from my heals. I broke my my left arm (jogging in the snow)last year so I had to take time off. I started hitting bench again a couple months ago but it still hurt. I took it slow and now I finally am pain free and back up to 3 plates. I know that’s not that much but I’m shooting for 4 plates by next year 🤞.... I’ll let you know how it goes.... One a side note duuuude although I have allot of your gear I totally missed out on the cargo shorts. Definitely re stock them.
To all of the Doubters that don’t believe me regarding the 3 plates.not sure that I really care but maybe I will change my gram to not private and then everyone can see the pictures. ( yes I got pictures...lol it was a big deal for me. My upper body is blessed with good genetics my lower that is a different story. I squat and deadlift every week and at 6’2 220 I only squat 300 and deadlift 380... lol I know but I’m trying Bradley’s advice of changing up my foot position to engage different muscles. Get that money 🙃🤪
I watched this video yesterday and came back here to say idk how to thank you man. I’ve been struggling for about 6 years to get in back to being shape and i’m just struggling. I can’t even lift weights that used to lift. Today, step by step i followed your guide and first time in 6 years, i finally benched over 225pounds today. (114kg-250 pounds) thank you so fucking much man
Opinion: you should do more instructional videos like this on different lifts. Like “instructional Sunday” or a day that fits in schedule. Starting a 40 day challenge on the 5th of July to change my life and you have helped me come to this point. Goal is to come to the zoo by 2021. Thank you 🙏🏽

Yow, major thanks, i went to the gym just to try it and as a 16y/o with 2 years experience i improved my bench from 80kg to 92.5kg, the back stiffnes did so much for me.
Love the video, I feel like everyone has their opinion on how to bench correctly but this literally makes the most sense. I’m definitely going to try this next time im in the gym.

@Jackschannel hahaha maybe. but I started with 110 in Sept now at 195 but I used to train b4 and I am 187lbs too so yeah making it easier to progress.cant wait for 225
I have a question about bench. Once the weight has been pressed fromthe chest to just under the halfway mark to lockout, what are the primary muscles required to complete the press from just before that mid point?? The reason I ask this is because for myself- as well as a lot of other people, this seems to be the primary “sticking” point. I suspect that weak triceps might be the culprit here but wanted to get some input from others. Btw, I’m 52 years old, body weight of 230 pounds, and can bench 315 for one rep on any day I try and 335 on my “strong” days.
Hopefully men start looking at these tips more, I'm getting so sick of Bouncin Betty's and Half-Reppin Harry's in my gym acting like they have a strong bench when they don't.
I've been making the mistake of as I get heavier bring my hands closer together on bar. After your video I won't make this mistake again. I've been failing a lot.of heavy lifts and this makes sense why. Letting my technique slip with heavier lifts. Thanks a lot for tips looking forward to getting back in there and putting all thus into practise
