    Great work as always from Status. We just finished a 2024 992 C2S and also do extensive paint correction prior to PPF. In our experience, we have found that PPF will cover and hide most paint imperfections and we sometimes make a judgement call as to how much clear coat to remove from the car vs. hiding the problem with PPF. Paint correct 100% for sure, but sometimes the cut is deep and the hide effect is safer for the car.

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  5 місяців тому +3

      Agreed! I talk about this in a few videos especially on nasty defects requiring sanding. We aim to remove all the defects and jewel the paint into a ridiculously glossy state and then lock that in. But managing clear coat depth is a serious thing! If your thinking about that your already leagues ahead of most PPF installers 👍

    If you put a clear bra on entire car I believe it to be 18k if it’s only a detail clean then no not worth 18k but yes to people who don’t know to ship a car is not cheap and I did know a entire wrap of a car in a “clear bra protection coat” could cost 8-12k$ for the entire car my colleague wrapped his Porsche gts targa and only did the front and bad and was 5k+ was gonna be even more if he did whole car but his car was 164k and the GTR nismo is a bigger car and more expensive 234-280k then a Porsche so ya I could see “18-24k if it’s a “clear wrap full detail and shipping of car” …. • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  5 місяців тому +2

      I would think they do great work but I've never seen it up close. I'm not sure how that business is structured currently either.
      I'm sure they have multiple employees. So that introduces questions like how many of them do PPF. Do the ones with most experience only do the really expensive cars or do you have a vetaren doing a car with a guy who has 6 months experience? At what point do you trust the new guy to work on a car by himself? I'm my opinion that's over a year because PPF is complex. Most companies can't afford to train a guy that long then risk he just leaves to make all the money himself. Tricky business.
      I've seen many of the videos on there channel. I think overall they must be doing a great job and are a good source of detailing information. Todd appears to be a top notch detailer. The tricky part is who else is doing all the work. That's why this business currently is essentially completely me. So you know my last car will look like my next car. No inconsistency from employee to employee.
      Safe to say esoteric does high end work. As does Larry at ammo and the other big names

    Why aren’t you cutting the ppf with a printer? Cutting on paint is bound to result in a slip and cut paint. If the details cost this much you should expect that type of product

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  5 місяців тому

      A plotter will not be as good as bulking. Many panels can only be done seamless by bulking. Plotter installs will always be worse. Plotter installs still require cutting because every panel won't line up perfect. If you don't cut often your more likely to cut paint as plotter installers don't cut as much as we do.
      Most important rare cars don't have plotter software. The software only helps if someone can scan the car and create the plotter format for it. So brand new rare cars must bulk cut.

      It can definitely be hard. As I mentioned in the video people might be able to deliver something like this but charging for your time will scare away basically everyone. • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  5 місяців тому +1

      A catalytic converter is very different from a exhaust tip. You do need to be mindful of this too though!
      McLaren 720s OEM exhaust has like heat shield literally built into bumper due to heat and how the rear exit exhaust is designed.
      If you tune a 720 and do exhaust and or downpipes you start melting parts of that surrounding bumper and obviously PPF too. Anything shooting fire basically means your paint and PPF might not make it lol. A cat gets hotter than a exhaust tip though same thing with a downpipe.

    I'm not saying its overpriced, and the job isn't best of the best. However... I feel like most of this video was trying to justify prices to random people who will never be able to afford anything like this. Will be looking out for future vids just some criticism in my opinion. Great video and amazing work though. Also, props for going through all the comments. I am struggling to find any comments without a reply from you.

      I do my best to comment on everything! If you spend time watching and commenting it's the least I can do!
      I appreciate you watching!
      Was not trying to justify. But when you title a video this way you talk and explain about the subject matter. Otherwise it's pure click bait. Outrageous title ... Then ignore it for full video. That's not my style. When you click on it... We are going to dive into exactly what you tuned in for lol.

      We could. It's just very expensive and risky. It is possible. But it's extremely time consuming to do correctly.
