I always thought i was the only one concerned with style. I love it. My edc pocket fodder comes in complete purple, blackout, chrome, or brass theme, lol.
Great EDC items. That Rovyvon A8 flashlight has caught my eye. By the way, I think that in an old Goulet Pens video, they said that the "U" with 2 dots is supposed to be 2 eyes and a smile.
I‘ve applied the silver tech scales to a champ and made a slot for the pen. It looks great, even with my diy pen-slot. Should have opened the 4th slot as well for a fire rod.
I've often wondered if I would be able to make a pen slot. I would really like to try it in some of the delamant scales. But I bet that those will be getting more difficult to find. Thanks for telling us about it!
Although usually not much of a traditionalist, for whatever reason I have only wanted the standard red Victorinox scales for all my SAK's. But now I may be adding a Silvertech or two to the collection. Thanks again, Anne!
Oh Stpetie, have you, in person, seen black scales? They don't feel untraditional, and somehow the black has a "depth" to it. I was very surprised when I saw my first black-scaled Swiss army knife. ( I'm sorry if that is a dumb question. No SAKs here I ever see that I don't own!)
@@thevineclimber No I haven't seen a black one. That will, however, change this coming Monday as both a black one and a white one will show up on my doorstep. The next one will be a silver tech. You did it to me again, Anne. Right when I convince myself I need no more SAKs, you go and post another video that unconvinces me.
Good set! The Rovyvon was a great start. I really like the SwissChamp with those scales, and the smaller Signature Lite is pretty cool too. I'm not a fan of fountain pens, so would substitute the Pentel R.S.V.P., I happen to use one at work all the time, great dirt cheap ballpoints. I thought about the Tombow Airpress in clear, but the refills are stoopid tiny. I was about to call you out on the Wraith, as I am a steel snob, but that's not a bad steel, and the knife does look cool. The pouch is cool enough, and I like the notebook. And I might get one of those lighter holders. But I would differ on the watch. While I agree it's nostalgic, the Casio BG-169R-7BM, or Clear Baby-G, is a fantastic watch, and only about $70, somewhat cheaper than the much more delicate Swatch. I'm a guy, and sometimes I wear this small watch, it is incredibly easy to read, extremely durable, and loaded with functionality. An option if you want a bigger watch might be the GA-2100SKE-7AER, one of the newer G-Shocks and with a large modding community, quite elegant and also cheaper than the Swatch. Fun video as always, thanks for taking the time to put this together! But... I think you might have cheated? Isn't the Rovyvon... glow in the dark? Start all over :P
Lol what a cool post, thanks! I love those suggestions - never considered the R.S.V.P. The Tombow Airpress seems so great; I don't see people carrying it and I am guessing it is because they don't like having to buy the special refills for some reason - maybe the tiny-ness you are talking about. Lol I SO wanted one of the G-Shocks, but I wanted to do something a little different, having just gotten TWO G-Shocks. I think you are right that I should have gone with one of those. You can call me or on the Wraith. It has no washers and very crunchy movement. It is fun to carry, in that I rarely carry a separate fixed blade, and also that it locks up really solid and it feels great in the hands. But that crunchy-grind action does suck. But still, the other factors, at that price, outweigh it to me. N AND I could not find a single other clear knife!!!
No, wait, the one I wanted was the 5600-SKE, apparently!! I just looked at that Baby G you recommended. Looks very nice! Fits the aesthetic too, and for only $67 right now! The thing I use on my digital watch all the time is the timer, so from a functional perspective, I would have definitely preferred this watch.
It's cool that you are able to color coordinate everything to match your Silvertech SAK. Definitely eye catching. I don't have any with Silvertech scales... perhaps it's time I bought one...
Thanks; it is a cool look IMO. YOU could replace your scales with Silvertech scales, too, some people sell them. Remember - there's no pen slot, though!
Thanks so much! 😊 I had a lot of fun with it, and even though that style was not my jam to start with, I really grew to love it - especially because some of the items were super useful! Thanks, David - I really appreciate your nice comment.
Some really cool items! I have that pouch which is from kokuyo also, but I actually didn't know the inside could come out! I love the kakuno fountain pen too
That is so cool, it's such a amazing bargain. You get so much great fountain pen experience for such a small amount of money. That pouch, too, is so much less expensive than many EDC pouches you find with a great amount of organization. It must be a good company!
My brother brought me a silvertech spartan from swizerland around 2017. It is one of my most priced posessions. It was my first proper SAK besides my dads old beat up classic signature. It was my only SAK for propably 5 or so years until I got a sportsman. I liked the smaller 84mm size and the nail file instead lf the smaller blade. But I think I might put the spartan back into rotation after seeing this video😁
Nice color collaboration Anne! It is a shame those scale are not plus scale but that did give the opportunity to get another SAK to fill the role! I think I looked at these scales when I was modding my Deluxe Tinker but went with the translucent red plus scales instead. I really need to checkout and get a Rovyvon flashlight! The Bic lighter case is cool as is the multi pen. Looking forward to that video! Thanks again Anne for sharing!
Thank you, PR (PaleRider)! I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. I'm actually going to miss not having to test it. But I have a whole new set of things I need to test! The one thing I will say about the flashlight part of the reason I love it is because it is so small but I think for some people it is just too small!
These clear plastic/metal items do look really cool! I have a Rovyvon A8 & A28 and like the look so was tempted by the Silvertech Champ but I found a normal Champ at about half the price of the Silvertech so I cheaped out and bought that. I do want a smaller SAK though so I'll probably get a Silvertech then - if I'm not diverted to an Alox!
Yes, I was thinking an alox could complete that look as well! But since they don't make an alox Swiss champ. I didn't go that way, LOL. I have had a problem with the Amazon supplier of the regular Swiss champ where it has been not a Swiss champ when I have ordered it, it has been an Explorer! I found the silvertech version for something like $72 so I jumped at it. And then sent my other one in for repair!!
Thank you so much! Also I have a hard time remembering the difference between alligators and crocodiles. Thank you so much for reminding me that that was a crocodile! Every time I try to think about it all I can think of is Ogden Nash's poem. "She had, the guide informed him later, been eaten by an alligator. Professor Smith could not but smile. "You mean," he said, "a crocodile."
That's a wicked cool set up. I like all of the clear stuff, to be honest I don't think I would be able to keep everything so clean. But then again my line of work wouldn't allow me.
Hi Anne !!! Great Video !!! Kathy loves the clear SAKs & the flashlight. So im in the process of getting those for her. Its a sad day with Ontario Knives going out of business. I have several & they are very good EDC & hiking knives. With all the collections I have, besides my knives is my pen collection. I literally have over 3,000 pens every thing from Monte Blanc to Bic (LoL) but if I have two clear pens I would be surprised. So now I will have to get a few of those. Love the note book & the watch reminds of a very popular watch of the 60s & 70s a Bouliva Acutron which showed the movement. This was a wonderful video Thank You, -- Joe --
Joe! I'm happy Kathy is getting some cool gear... seriously, the flashlight does everything, and it is so small! And the Silvertech - just beautiful. 😀 Ok. 3000 pens?? If you write with 10 per day you would not use each one for the better part of a year!!!! Crazy. Since you're a collector, you should get a really nice pen. I think the TWSBIs are not that nice, but very well- liked. But you probably know infinitely more than me about Pens. I'm just excited to use the push button converter! I am SO excited to get my 3 new Ontario knives... I wish I had bought them before. Thank you so much for writing!
@@thevineclimber Ann, You will get a kick out of this. Kathy said this clear SAK fits the exact profile of Anne's video esthetics -vs- functionality. This SAK satisfies both & than some. LoL
Anne Hi you are now ready for the latest chic discotheque or Nightclub in Paris or maybe a White Tie & Tux gala, or even slumming it in Las Vegas 😀👍 Those Silvertech scales are beautiful and I think they actually wear well. I have a Silvertech Midnight Manager, I especially like the way the case lights up when using the flashlight.
Hitch! Yes, really, they are just lovely, and like you said, ready for any environment. The case lights up so beautifully when using the light. It is really a thing apart. I wore it as a necklace many days. In the summer when I will not be lighting a fire, this will be my "bedtime SAK" - normally, it is my huntsman lite. Also, I needed my saw and I felt a titch guilty... I am so glad to hear that they wear well! I have been concerned about that. I'm only sad I did not jump on the Silvertech bandwagon before!! "We both love Swiss army knives!"
Great video Anne, as always! You actually peaked my interest to checkout the Silvertech line along with the flashlight. I actually knew they existed but your review made them seem really Cool! Thank you so much for the review and letting me know more about these products! Jeff
Hi, Jeff! I absolutely love the Rovyvon A8. But I really thought I didn't like the Silvertech scales. I think that's because I'd never seen them in person! I didn't think about it, but my desk is actually black with silver and keeping that pouch on my desk looks awesome. Thanks for watching any leading a note!
Great collection of items! I have some of the Silvertech SAKs in 58mm as well. I've always heard that they're one of the least favorite colors of Victorinox scales, but that's just based on forums I've seen. I don't know if it's true or not. The lack of Plus scales on the Swiss Champ is disappointing, though. I do like the RovyVon flashlights too, but I don't have the A8, rather the only one I have with a clear case is the A5U G3. The others I have don't have side lights as I've found I just don't use them that much. But, I very much love how bright the light can be for such a small size. (And that you don't have to go full on bright either.)
Yes, the battery on this thing is really amazing, too. It charges up really quickly and then works for days for how I use it. On a lower setting, I can see everything I need to when I take the dogs outside at night. But if I need to see farther away, that bright setting is amazing, and out of such a tiny, tiny flashlight! I looked up the A5U. That 1 has glow in the dark? How do you like that feature?
@@thevineclimber The A5U does have a green glow-in-the-dark color, but it doesn't last very long. It's somewhat useful though if it's sunny and falls into a shaded or dark area. But, like all RovyVon lights, it the brightness of the main light that's just so handy!
Hey Anne 🌻 I really enjoyed this video and appreciate all the embedded video 'demos' - super cool 😎👌 I like the A8 too, those SAK's, of course, lol 😁 I've used Pilot pens for years, especially the G2 series. However, I've never seen your ones, and now I need to get one in hand... My wallet may have issues this month 🤦 :) I like the Ontario translucent knife, the Swatch watch is very cool & I'm lovin' the notebook lady! 📚 Overall, a very well thought out EDC kit ✅️ Thanks for sharing, Atb Gus 👍
Wow Gus! Thank you so much! I feel very encouraged, and I'm so happy you enjoyed the video! I am curious if embedding a whole bunch of stuff like that makes it a better video. It certainly is a whole lot more work! I'm really glad I found some stuff. You enjoyed! Just a warning that the Hi-Tec-C Coleto multipens are not robust. They have nice ink but the mechanism is a little irritating. It is a great choice if you want a multipen with different colors than red black blue and green, especially if you would appreciate the clicker part being the same color as the ink. It's also good if you want a large eraser embedded in your pen, because the eraser is very good sized for one of these multipens. Thank you again for coming by!!
I actually use my pen fairly often, like when I (almost always) forget to put a seperate pen in my pocket. I bought several sets of Silvertech scales to convert to glow-in-the-dark, I used a 2mm needle file and a tiny carbide burr to make a pen slot in them. Would mess up the silver though.
Wow, that's a really cool mod! Did you have to remove the silver from the inside of the scales? I use my Swiss army knife pen all the time, too. I don't even try to carry a pen much of the time! But it was fun to try something else out.
@@thevineclimber Yes, the silver has to be removed. There are probably other ways to do it, I hope so because the way I did it took a couple months to soak the silver off in white vinegar. Didn't damage the clear plastic at all, but just a ridiculously long time. Mixed glow powder from United Nuclear (Bob Lazar) with epoxy and filled the voids in the scales. Works really well, did one in green and one in orange. My EDC Champ still has the red scales on it with some mods (extra needle, etc.). My personal favorite SAK is either the Ranger or Huntsman, but I just can't give up on the Champ with all the tools.
@SmallHoleInTheForest Wow cool project! You could probably sell those scales if you could... ahem... SCALE up production! People are always talking about GITD SAK scales Yes, the Ranger and the Huntsman are amazing! But the Champ... I feel ready for anything. :)
First, nice Peter Pan reference. I do have a two layer SAK with the clear silver scales and think it’s pretty cool. Clipper has a semi clear lighter and also a silver one both are refillable.
I'm glad to hear from somebody else that likes those scales. They really are just lovely! But do different from other Victorinox scales. Oh, those lighters are a really good find! 4 Clipper Translucent Clear See Through Refillable Lighters a.co/d/ioNMF8r
This is great! I have: 1. Midnight Manager in SilverTec (ST) 2. Compact in ST 3. Climber is ST 4. Handyman in ST. I use the Compact the most. MM on keychain. The Handyman is in my daily briefcase. These are great "TRON" colors as I call them!
Hey, David! Wow, it's really good to hear from someone who totally loves ST!! The midnight manager would be awesome. May I ask if you live in an urban or rural environment? I don't want to speak out of line but I feel like this EDC is more at home in an urban environment.
@@thevineclimber you'd be correct. I'm primarily in city urban areas. I try to baby my ST collection somewhat as I feel they have a corporate or CEO type vibe to them. I also have a silver Fenix E05 (AAA) light or sometimes a Nitecore silver/see through TIKI light (almost like the Royvon...not as bright though) attached to my ST Compact on a small silver TEC clip that I carry inside pants waistband. Took a while to get my collection going...but it works for me!😁 Love the ST Handyman so much I don't like to use it. Sort of a pride thing!
I ordered my first Champ today. I liked that silver one a lot, but want a pen and my first should be classic red, and it has sentimental feelings of my first SAK at 16 years old (a hiker, I think, 1975).
Oh that is so great!! I hope you love it. The more I carry mine, the more it does for me. I think it's wonderful that you're going for one that will give you the sentimental value bonus as well. And honestly, I use my pen all the time!!
I would like to see fully clear transparent plus scales so you can see all the scale tools and the rivets! I have had the silvertech scales on a Swisschamp in the past, but after a while, I changed them for the jelly Red as they are known here in the UK
Yes, I agree that would be pretty cool. It would be kind of hardcore. Did you see Dizelle's comment? Several years ago, he reviewed an SOG multi tool with clear scales - the Power Duo. ua-cam.com/video/cYAblhwFgPw/v-deo.html
@thevineclimber I don't really understand why Victorinox scales are not all plus scales on the 91 mm models nowadays? Maybe they offer the climber, for example, and all that type with standard scales because they have always been so? I can't think of any other reason for it? We all know Victorinox is very slow to progress! But I suppose it works for them?
@@Mike-kc8rl You know I have to wonder the same thing. And these scales, in particular, look So Cool and advanced. Why would they not actually BE the most advanced version?
Like your silvery style. Funny how sak lovers seems to like fountain pens as well. Silvertech would pare up perfectly with my transparant Kaweco Sport fp. Only, I have already 7 saks. Edc: Vic Classic red alox on my key chain. Edc fp = Aurora Harstil. Keep up your good work i.e. nice uploads.
Thank you so much, Philip! Yes, they both have a certain enjoyable vibe about them. IMO, it is very enjoyable to use these items to accomplish mundane tasks.
Very cool video. I have to agree with you with a caveat about best swiss army knife, The cybertool lite is my pick now for urban and swiss champ for non urban. The aesthetic is very nice for the edc layout. I saw a video where a guy bought a 91mm silveretech scales and chemically removed the gray and replaced it with GITD colouring which was awesome. I dont know what resin or type of GITD they used but made for a really cool unique victorinox. The signature lite is one of my favorites. Have them in almost all my edc kits or variations of them.
Hi! Thank you for coming by!! I think that person came by and commented!! I'll go look for his video. I have a Cybertool Lite. It's awesome! But I never seem to be away from home long enough to feel comfortable without a saw. I can see how it is better in many scenarios, though. It feels good to hand a SAK or multitool that you know is setting you up for success. Thank you very much for coming by and commenting!
Excellent EDC combo. I have a similar converter for my Lami Safari that I enjoy. I hate to see OKC going out of business. Hopefully another company will step in and buy them and keep the name going.
So much in this one! Coolest Swiss Champ! I sometimes carry a A8, but I always go back to the Olight Baton 3. I still keep Ontario Rat 2’s in my car for days that I forget a knife. I had quite a few Swatches in the 80’s, but I use a Casio G-Shock and did have a clear one.
That Olight baton three looks pretty great. The website I looked at says it has a max run time of 20 days??? And 1200 lm is awesome!!! I use all the features on the Rovyvon A8 but if I didn't I think this might be a better choice. I might pick one of those up for my husband. I gave him an A8, but he doesn't like it because it's too complicated of a user interface. I checked out the clear G shocks and they really looked awesome but maybe a little bit more expensive for the ones that I thought were the best for this set up.
The Rat2 is one of those knives that, once you've got one, it just feels right. They really nailed it with that one. I bought the R2D2 (the Rat2 in D2 steel,) and really wish I was talented enough to make proper R2D2 scales for it...
@@sunglint I put purple G10 from wayofknife on a R2D2, but nothing as elaborate as your idea. They do character customs, like Deadpool. You could ask them.
Lol, your phrasing was adorable! I want to buy a silver alox mini champ, but I really don't want to lose the pen functionality. I have to say all those blades are almost too many for me. :( Midnight manager is great, but I HAVE to carry something with the tweezers!!
@@thevineclimber yeah I also feel like two blades is a bit useless in that mini size. I’d prefer it if it only had the “tracheotomy blade”, and maybe used the other space for another more useful tool. I like the alox one because it’s still very thin for the amount of tools it has.
That’s so crazy that the silvertech is not a Plus scale for the SwissChamp, I wonder if it’s not an official color? Victorinox does sell Ruby and Sapphire but not silvertech for it atm. Yesterday I was biking home and it got dark all the sudden, but luckily I had my Rovyvon A8 + keysmart magnet + Classic SD clipped to my pocket. I detached the SAK, then used the keysmart magnet to stick the A8 to the front of my bike frame, creating a headlight to illuminate the trail. Once I got to a street and could see better, I stuck the A8 to the back of the bike frame and set it to slow red flashing mode so that cars could see me better. Such a cool light!
Yes!! I love this story! It seems like this is a common thing that occurs. Especially in the summer time because it's light light light and then suddenly it's dark. I totally love that flashlight. I don't really see how another flashlight could ever replace it. It's so small, you can easily always have it with you and then look how handy it is! And seriously. The fact that you can use it to make sure the bathroom is actually clean when you're done cleaning it is a feature that nobody talks about. And I bet no one's doing it. But everybody should be doing it. A firefighter even borrowed my flashlight and used it to document that they needed new mattresses at the firehouse!
Unfortunately, where I live there's no way for me to see Victorinox products that I don't buy! Unless I want to see a classic, tinker, or Spartan. In red. Anyhow I never really likes them either but now I like them a good deal! I'm kind of sad this video is over because I need to get on to carrying something else for another video. And I'm going to miss this! Thank you so much for watching!
I'm glad to hear that! I have become quite a fan of this myself. I have a feeling that it might be more appealing to people that don't already love Swiss army knives.
Sorry!! But it is cool because people ask you about your things if they can kind of see them! There are several colors of that EDC pouch and there are other sizes as well. The "Mitte clear pouch" is also similar!

The c3po factor with my A8 would have been groovy. PS, I think the swatch link doesn’t work quite as intended?… just goes to the swatch page?… or maybe that’s intentional. Not that I could abide the ticking. 👻😵💫
@@thevineclimber Yup 👍 It also fits under the file or main blade of a Wave, but you have to file the plastic head down a little and use a tiny magnet to hold it in place. I use the pens & toothpicks from the $3 Swiss Card knockoffs....
Imho Vic compact is king of EDC. Champ is nice but bulky and many tools are unnecessary. If you want functionality then the cybertool M or lite is much better suited for the aesthetic you’re looking for.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I definitely agree that if your life is like the aesthetic in this video, the Cybertool series is for you! But I can't deny my love for the Champ. I use my saw at least 2 times a week! I actually got a cybertool lite because they're going away apparently. I love it, but my life uses different tools than that most of the time! I actually don't think you can get a cybertool lite in these scales without some serious mods, anyway - the light wouldn't work! Thank you so much for bringing up the mismatch between the aesthetic and the tool set. I completely agree with you. At least the Signature Lite works!!
@@thevineclimber the large cybertool has the saw and file if that floats your boat. Don’t see any reason for the champ when the only tools it has over the cyber tool L is a fish descaler and magnifying glass. Given the cybertools massively expanded bit driver (which accepts any standard 4mm precision bits like wiha make) not sure I understand why the champ exists except for its entrenched popularity.
You make a compelling argument. I do use the ruler, and I use the magnifying glass regularly, but a lot of those functions can be replaced with other tools. I found your argument so compelling. I went to see if I could still find one for sale somewhere. I believe they are part of the discontinued lineup, so I was happy to see that Victorinox US has them for sale still!
Super passion!
What a great EDC kit video. I’m a big fan of Victorinox and Swatch.
Watch out for Tick-Tock the Crocodile.
Hello Anne, thanks for this great post. The perfect title could have been " Fantastic Anne and the return of the silver surfer"😂
Lol Marcel! Good one - wow, the Silver Surfer...
This was a wonderful video
Thank You,
-- Joe --
Joe! I'm happy Kathy is getting some cool gear... seriously, the flashlight does everything, and it is so small! And the Silvertech - just beautiful. 😀
Ok.

Ann,
You will get a kick out of this.
Kathy said this clear SAK fits the exact profile of Anne's video esthetics -vs- functionality.
This SAK satisfies both & than some. LoL
Good video! 👌🏼🇲🇽
Thank you, Argadeux!
Anne Hi
you are now ready for the latest chic discotheque or Nightclub in Paris
or maybe a White Tie & Tux gala, or even slumming it in Las Vegas 😀👍
Those Silvertech scales are beautiful and I think they actually wear well.
I have a Silvertech Midnight Manager, I especially like the way the case lights
up when using the flashlight.
Love nerding out on fun stuff like this. I am currently working on my orange setup. If that knife came in orange.... 😊
Hi Steve! Lol that's actually what I'm doing next! Let me know if you have any cool finds you want me to share!
Such a great EDC. Wonderful idea.
Thank you! Thanks for watching and leaving such a nice note. :)
Hey Anne 🌻
I really enjoyed this video and appreciate all the embedded video 'demos' - super cool 😎👌
I like the A8 too, those SAK's, of course, lol 😁
I've used Pilot pens for years, especially the G2 series. However, I've never seen your ones, and now I need to get one in hand... My wallet may have issues this month 🤦 :)
I like the Ontario translucent knife, the Swatch watch is very cool & I'm lovin' the notebook lady! 📚
Overall, a very well thought out EDC kit ✅️
Thanks for sharing,
Atb Gus 👍
People are always talking about GITD SAK scales
Yes, the Ranger and the Huntsman are amazing!

@@thevineclimber I forgot to mention that you lit your lighter and didn’t burn anything 😆
@Olyphoto7 LOL I know!!!
This is great! I have:
1. Midnight Manager in SilverTec (ST)
2. Compact in ST
3. Climber is ST
@@DavidRodriguez-ou9fy I think so, too! It seems rather upscale. Thank you very much for the hints. On the other clear EDC items!!
@thevineclimber
I don't really understand why Victorinox scales are not all plus scales on the 91 mm models nowadays?

Rich from True Budget EDC and Prepping said they have already closed the factory! Craziness. :(
So much in this one!
Lol that would be amazing! I just got it in AUS-8 and think it is amazing so far... 😀
@@sunglint I put purple G10 from wayofknife on a R2D2, but nothing as elaborate as your idea. They do character customs, like Deadpool. You could ask them.
I also EDC a Rovyvon A8 and Silvertech Victorinox (the Huntsman). Sometimes the silver alox minichamp joins us too.
Yes, and it's not like you need the tooth pick or tweezers, because you already have them.
@@thevineclimber Great point about cleaning bathrooms, this should be in its marketing!!

Thanks for sharing the silvertech scales and inspired EDC. Never liked the look of these - but your video shows them off well.

PS, I think the swatch link doesn’t work quite as intended?… just goes to the swatch page?… or maybe that’s intentional. Not that I could abide the ticking. 👻😵💫
I love the Silvertech scales 👍
But yeah, it totally sucks they aren't plus scales.
A pen fits nicely under the fish scaler tool though.
Nice Rovyvon !
A Swiss army knife pen fits under this fish scaler??
@@thevineclimber Yup 👍 It also fits under the file or main blade of a Wave, but you have to file the plastic head down a little and use a tiny magnet to hold it in place.
I use the pens & toothpicks from the $3 Swiss Card knockoffs....
Wow. Those are some great tips!
But oh my goodness, it's $130! So I didn't buy one. But now thanks to your comment. I want one! LOL. Thank you very much for sharing this information.
