Holex Cable Splitting Knife - a beautiful, affordable SAK alternative?
Переглядів 1,9 тис.7 місяців тому
The Holex Cable Knife (Kabelmesser) is a beautiful multitool knife. In the United States, it only seems to be available from Hoffman group. www.hoffmanngroupusa.com/holex-cable-knife-with-wooden-handle-folding/ Could this be a good Swiss army knife competitor? Well, I think for some people it might be. The beautiful wood scales are honestly just gorgeous, and the unusual tool set might be appea...
Plus Scale 111 mm Swiss Army Knife! The Garant becomes the Garant Champ... plus a naked Picknicker
Переглядів 26 тис.8 місяців тому
I removed the scales from my 111 mm Workchamp, a Victorinox Swiss army knife, and replaced ilthem with the scales from the Hoffman group's Garant model. This is the only way I know of to get plus scales on a 111 mm Swiss army knife! If you want to buy a Garant from the Hoffmann group, they import them to the US here: www.hoffmanngroupusa.com/garant-pocket-knife-multi-tool/ If you want to buy a ...
It's Controversial, but breaking the blade off of your Swiss Army Knife gives you a Bladeless SAK.
Переглядів 3,1 тис.8 місяців тому
What if you were to simply break the blade off of your Swiss army knife? Is this a mod that's worth doing? Is it hard to do? Is it safe to do well? It's not safe, but I will also tell you that I had a very easy time with this. I broke the blades off of a Swiss army knife that was 58 mm and then snapped the blade off of a second 58 mm Swiss army knife and I also broke the blade off of a 91 mm Sw...

Why are there no bladeless Swiss Army Knives? (except the jetsetter, but c'mon, man!)

It seems to me that many of us are longing for a bladeless Swiss army knife. Why hasn't Victorinox given us a bladeless Swiss army knife? Well, I sure don't know why, but in this video I'm gonna make a lot of suppositions and guesses and you can watch along. If you want, feel free to leave your suppositions and guesses about why Victorinox has not given us a bladeless Swiss army knife in the co...

Can Bluetooth make a Casio Better?

I love Casio watches with productivity features. I recently reviewed the LWS2200H- but Casio made pretty much the same watch with some added Bluetooth features as a GShock model. The Companion Solves your Problems with Swiss Army Knives
Very nice video to calm my brain waves. Thinking about these knives always reminds of the holidays I’ve spent in Switserland
Страшненькая 👎🏻
I want the new package opener in the Victorinox Companion in another model besides just the Companion, or offer the Companion in more colors.
Great video as always. Still hoping for a part two of the goodnight Swiss army knife video. Lol. Loved it and keep up the great work.
Does it has a vibrator ? For the alarm ?
Awesome review…Just connected… Salute!🍃🍃😎
Just Fantastic!!! So great... Thanks
Don't sleep on the phillips screwdriver, more than once I've had to remove stairway aides in order to extract a patient. Handy to have the tool in your pocket to do so 👍
Gerber Vise is a Pliers make of the Splice. Well rounded and very affordable.
Leatherman is fine. The ARC is their ARC. So good I used my sub $30K/yr salary to buy a SECOND for the collection and felt good about the model.
Curl is a stand in for now, regarding the P2. Better tool overall too.
Victorinox has been complacent and even cheap junk is competing with them in quality. The ARC? Nobody even faked the P2/P4 well, so the ARC is a masterpiece, IMO. And that is from someone who has almost all models of LM, Gerber, SOG, and Victorinox. Even 5 SwissTools (2 spirits and three big boys - all have major issues and cost a lot too, but lack the innovation and accessibility(usage) of Leathermans. Victorinox still makes decent tools, but management is trying to go "fashion brand" harder than ever. But, fact: In the 4" class, the ARC is untouchable. If someone says they're too expensive at $199.99, they don't own one. Once I got one? It is actually cheap considering the updates and Magnacut. A US made Magnacut fixed blades costs $100-$300. So really? ARC has a lot of usable features for the price of a regular knife. I hear knife guys say the ARC is expensive, the. Ramble about their one blade folder they spent $500 on being "Amazing". Victorinox should move back into making much needed updates to decent old designs.
Thanks for your thoughts on Vic. My first love was a Vic Explorer carrier with a Gerber Multiplier(Mr. Pinchy early model). Those two played on each other perfectly.
I want the MUT, Freestyle, and Style with the Blue. Full Keychain to super duty all in that blue!
I ground the tabs off the three parts that can be screw drivers(flat) and it is perfect for light EDC. Not sure why the tabs since tools open in clump(good for the style tool). SOG got close to perfect out of box, but they just can't help making a small oversight on anything they make. And that is coming from someone woth 40~ SOG models from Tool Clip all the way to PowerAccess Assist. The PowerGrab was SO close, but didn't last a year in production. Collector tool now. Their not-quite-perfect is in every single model. The US made PowerLock with Piano locks was as close to perfect as possible, but the handle covers pop off, since the depth of swing pivots is shallow(never fixed, even when moved overseas). Thanks for the review. I enjoy listening to other's thoughts on pieces I own. Got two Pints, one for mod(minor ground to three pieces to make drivers from open tab opener/cap tool) and one for carry when I am in a suit or dress clothes.
The bottle cap opener and can opener grind flat when tabs are ground off and make decent flat drivers, especially if you can make a flat grind on one side of the tip.
I ground the scissors sharper and peened the pivot. Now it cuts without issue for small stuff.
I finally got one with a 50% off sale. Trying it brought back memories of this video! At that price, it's a no brainer, but I gotta say, I'm not as enamored with it as most people. Pliers: A+, especially for the size. User experience for other tools: C-. At least on mine, they're quite hard to open, and the way that I have to halfway open the pliers or another tool to disengage the lock is a terrible design. It's also easy to pinch my hand frequently opening and closing it to use the lock because of how the pliers move with the compound leverage system. They should have used side sliding locks like the SwissTool Spirit X. Also the scissors, though they look sharp, don't open very wide, nor do they cut anywhere near as well as 58 mm SAK scissors when used normally by a righty, as you pointed out. It's so close to being great, because it has a fantastic density of locking tools for its size, but it needs some tweaks.
Want a gd-350 in solar with multiband 6.
The Ranger checked all my boxes. 😎
They make replacement scales in pretty much every color and they're inexpensive.
This watch has lot options on it for G-Shock. Do like screen layout though..
Wow the combo tool was smooth going thanks Ann for the video I have the Bantam some have problems with the can opener !
Great review. I just bought one. Some people have modified the file and have hollow grounded the side.
❤
As an “Old Man”, I find it bizarre you feel the need to apologise for saying something relevant … (what a state of affairs the Western World are in!… ) I wasn’t offended. Good job… I’m getting one for my Mrs now, you sold it!
Super ❣👍🏻
Perfect video👍🏽
I have looked far and wide for plus scales. Wonder if this company sells scales separately
Dudette... whatever you've been up to... we all hope you are well and happy with whatever your other preoccupations. Sending all good wishes.
I actually cut grooves in mine to add grip so they dont slip out of my pocket . I've never had collar issues but this is great to know just in case .
I can certainly think of a use case for the windshield cutting tool. I'm a Police Officer, and it's not uncommon for us to be first on the scene of a traffic accident given that we are already mobile whereas firefighters are usually at the station. I had a rollover crash on the highway that placed the vehicle on it's side. It was a larger vehicle and I was unable to get access to the top. The driver was injured. I tried breaking the front windshield with my Leatherman raptor in vain. Fortunately, the Fire Department arrived in time to get the driver out and get him patched up, but I never want to be in that position again. I just purchased one of these and plan to keep it with me for that very tool.
Thank you for keeping a laid back tone including a cold one. People make way too serious videos about aimole stuff. Funny how you needed to explain to people these things as one does to kids. "Hurr durr, the sissors are bad"... Just look at them and see how they work FFS! 😂
I subscribe to your channel. I love SAKs too. Saludos desde Colombia.
Thanks for the video. A 1991/92 SwissChamp was my first SAK. And this video reminds me how I initially felt : puzzled by all these mysterious tools and constantly fiddling until I found the one I needed. It took me a while to figure out what was where, and even longer to learn how to use all these tools. The knife manual was rather useless for this learning curve, and actually I'm still learning new ways to use my SwissChamp thanks to such videos. I like the way you use mnemonics... That will help in the initial discovery phases. But in the end, what you really need is practice, every day, until "muscle memory" kicks in and your fingers find every tool by themselves. My everyday beater is now a lighter Spartan-like vintage pocket knife I inherited from my late grand-father and the heavy Swisschamp is more often in a drawer, but I still find instantly where is what on my SwissChamp.
The back springs which prevent tool-clumping also add some resistance when opening each implement. All Swisstools have this characteristic and additional oiling will not improve it much, if at all, although using it over and over may eventually work it in. Some users add a small plastic tool (can't remember where to buy it) specifically shaped to aid in lifting each implement and attach it with a cord to the Swisstool. Another EMT multitool new on the market is the Nextorch Pioneer MT20.
Once you get it off, saturate the wood at the pivot with 3-In-1 machine oil. Keeps the end from absorbing water and the piviot lubricated.
It's funny how all of us multi-tool enthusiasts own a Leatherman Micra.
Great multi tool, I have it in my bug out bag as I use a Leatherman Micra daily. I got a nice customizable hard case with pluck foam holding that and another couple multi-tools. But I have to say although it's larger than the micro it's hard to keep it in a bag I hope I never need to use. Great video, thank you.
It's funny, a Swiss Army knife was never something gender-related for me. If anything, it was more feminine, as it's very bright red and was also part of my mum's "EDC".
Want one. Need one. Complained to Victorinox about it. In Denmark it's illegal to carry a knife without a purpose like fishing, hiking etc. - We're not the only country, and Victorinox is missing out on a market.
Noooooooooooo! Grind the unwanted blade into another tool
Please make another long video to fall asleep to, please!!
We miss your uploads!
Great video 👍. I agree on the EDC. VICTORINOX has low weight to functionality ratio. Maybe the lowest 🤔. Add quality and charm as well and they have no competition.
i guess i will go with a xxl mostly y knot, get the big dog. not using it anyway mostly watch tv and flip thru the attachments
Hello, great video Anne ! Beyond the blade, are the Victorinox scissors allowed through TSA ? The length is short enough but it seems that only rounded ends are allowed... Thanks I couldn’t bear to lose the ones on my Nail Swiss card !
You're not being picky. I have a few Rough Ryder knives in my display cabinet (as collectibles not actual use) and all the implements open and snapgracefully.
Thanks Anne for making this lullaby. I often have easy listening in the background when struggling to sleep. Knife history, astronomy, ...
Great to see a female in this genre. Keep up the content!!
The Companion has got a good set of tools, but it's not a Compact killer, because, let's put it this way, what's easier to open with a non specialized tool, a cardboard box or a tin can?
i still want to know how to open it
If I get this it'd be specifically for the magnifier. Just love the looks of it!!
Come to think about it. Isn't the Huntsman Lite very close to the discontinued Woodsman? just replacing the magnifying glass with the light?
😅 funny. Will get one
