    I've had one of these for over four decades and about once a year it gets polished with "Silvo", purpose made for silver, being much finer than its sibling "Brasso". I use a good 'Ha-Ra' micro fibre cloth and there is no problem with dried polish remaining in the grooves.

    As time for me I saw this video! I'm just waiting for the delivery of Parker 75. I have not yet decided to polish my pen or not, because I really like the patina on silver. I call it a pen with a story. It is always interesting to think about who wrote what with this pen for all the years. And patina on silver is a symbol of this story. Anyway, if I decide to polish, now I know how to do it right. Thank you very much for the video!

      Thanks for watching Oleg. It is really personal preference i personally like my pens clean. I also understand some people prefer to have a patina to the pen. Which ever you prefer enjoy your pen.

    Cleaned a friend's Cisele last week. What you did is pretty much what I did. Glad I didn't muck it up! :) It was her grandfather's. He recently passed around age 100 and they found a box of pens, erasers, etc. that sat for years and looked pretty rough. Erasers sort of melted. There was mold, bugs, ... I did a basic cleaning of a few of them. Nothing special, just soaking to remove ink and a bit of polishing plastic and silver. Also made the faux leather carrying case that looked rather rough look much better. (Used baseball mitt glove oil to re-moisturize & shoe polish to add some color to areas that were worn away) The friend almost cried after seeing the pens look much nicer.
    I saw one person using toothpaste to clean a pen. Do you think that's a bad or OK practice?

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  3 роки тому +1

      Sounds like you did a good job, and nice to hear your freind was happy with them. I only use toothpaste to remove old embeded ink on gold nibs, i would not use it on the rest of the pen. Good luck.

    I have a problem with the clutch in the cap of my 75 Cisele. One of the tines is bent and catches the nib and section. Do you have a video that covers removing the clutch?
    I need to reshape the clutch. I am guessing it involves removing the jewel.

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. The clutch can be replaced but can be a little tricky for a novice. Yes the top of the cap (jewel) needs to be removed while inserting a dowel inside to stop the inner cap turning. The older models have a metal clutch with fingers the later model had a plastic inner cap/clutch. By the way the tines are the tips of the nib. Good luck with it.

    • @SKWDiesel1
      @SKWDiesel1 4 роки тому

      @@penkino1 Thanks for the tip. It is a 1966 model and I am pretty sure the clutch is spring metal. Would the dowel need a slot or groove in it?

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  4 роки тому +1

      You should be able to see the fingers in the cap. Just a round dowel will do just to stop the inner cap rotating. Use rubber to grip the cap jewel, be careful not to mark it. Good luck.

    Prezado amigo, eu coleciono moedas de prata e para limpar as muito antigas e oxidadas deixo-as numa solução de água com bicarbonato de sódio bem concentrado por pelo menos 24 horas. A prata fica limpa sem necessidade de usarmos nada abrasivo nela , a não ser a ponta dos dedos. Experimente e verá como é eficiente o processo. Abraços !

    Like SKWDiesel1, I have a question about my 75 Cisele, as well. The cap doesn't securely stay on the barrel any longer. There is no noticeable gap when the cap is on, but when you turn the cap slightly, you can feel that it loosens and is no longer secure. At that point, it can easily come off inadvertently. It works fine sitting on my desk, but I'm not comfortable carrying it in this state. Do you have any advice on addressing this kind of problem?

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  4 роки тому

      Thank you for watching. It sounds like it has a worn clutch especially if it is the later plastic inner cap/clutch. See my reply to SKWDiesel1. Good luck.
