I just did a DIY decal fail myself (international flags for the Olympics), and I HAVE a silicone mat. I still posted to Instagram, because like you, I figured people need to see the fails sometimes, plus I had spent a LOT of time on that manicure. TFS!

I see the struggles you had but I think the end result turned out really nice. Those colors together look really cool. I also like to see the process with struggles and all because sometimes it doesn’t look like it’s going to turn out well but then all comes together right at the end. Helps you remember to not give up 😊

Hoi Femke, super leuk! Zelf gebruik ik als ondergrond de binnenkant van de witte plastic dekseltjes van yoghurt of de binnenkant van rode dekseltjes van roggebrood. Daar kan je de nagellak heel gemakkelijk afhalen nadat het opgedroogd is.
Je kan het ook mooi door elkaar laten “druipen” door het dekseltje een beetje rond te draaien.

I would say definitley more time... but I would suggest using a curing lamp. I know it's a bit of an investment, but it would greatly improve and expidite the drying process and you'd have better results.
This isn't made with gelpolish and regular polish only dries by air

indeed. This nail polish design must be done on a silicone surface. I do not have a silicone surface but in the past I have tried to do on a transparent stamp and it behaves the same. I'm a little sad that two nails in my left hand (the non-dominant hand) broke !!!!!! I too, like you, have really long nails that's really annoying. Now I'm debating whether to cut the rest or build on the broken ones.
Lately I have just grown the short one out and file the others a tiny bit at a time until they're all at the same length again :) That way you don't have to cut the others :)

Yes I know I'm watching your videos. Quite annoying that nails break especially for those who like them really long.
Maybe a project will be done. Every day I will take a picture of the broken nails and at the end I will run in fast gear

I'm thinking this would probably work better with gel polish, have you tried that?
Have done so in the past but it's less fun 🤭
if I paint my nails, the nail polish will come off after one day, do you have any tips for that?
It can be caused by a few different things, for example flexible nails, or a more oily nail plate etc. Cleaning the nails with acetone or some rubbing alcohol before going in with a good base coat can help with that last issue :)
