    Loving the content of this video series. I generally put this on in the background while I cook. Because of this, it can be hard to hear you at times since the audio is relatively quiet. Other than that, no complaints!!! Keep up the great work!

    A lot of evidence suggests that the glutes internal muscle moment arm increases as the hips approach full extension, which means that the glutes produce maximum tension at quite short muscle lengths. For this reason the leg press may not be targeting the glutes as much as the adductor Magnus, which is the primary hip extensor in deep flexion

    • @HypertrophyCoach
      @HypertrophyCoach  6 років тому

      Turnip Patrol it’s always user dependent. On a closed chain exercise pretty much anything can do all the work. And Internal moment is also dependent on actual muscle size, so it varies person to person....and yes, internal moment for sure at least doesn’t decrease at full extension, but that’s only have the torque equation. From a physiological standpoint, the force output from the glutes still drops off significantly at full shortening.

    So what’s your opinion on the hipthruster? I know for most they don’t find it worth it due to set up,.. but I don’t have anything else to do soo🤷🏽‍♂️

      Spr_Syn_ Seabass definitely has a place. And unique beneficial attributes. I’d probably put it in my top 5 glute exercises.

    Is there a specific structure to your training in regards to exercise order? For example beginning a “leg” session with single joint movements such as leg ext. then compounds like leg presses or squats. Thanks in advance and great content as always

    How much do you rate barbell bridges and abductor machine ? Especially high reps and sets ? Would that cause a lot of imbalances and potentially injury ?

    What do you think about Hyper extension, Hip Abduction or even unilateral glute machine that all bring load for the whole profile as well as bracings ?

  • @teamdoberman4372
    @teamdoberman4372 6 років тому

    Are you talking about having the band on the bar and attached directly below the bar? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the band attached around the hips and the other side behind you at and angle so you have to push your hips through?

    • @teamdoberman4372
      @teamdoberman4372 6 років тому

      Nevermind, I misunderstood the description. That's what we use.

  • @jospringer3
    @jospringer3 6 років тому

    I see “mainly” girls turning side to side doing one legged presses. In your opinion, does this add the risk of injury to your back? You talk a lot about bracing. Wouldn’t this compromise the bracing portion of the movement? In relation to the typical leg press.

    • @HypertrophyCoach
      @HypertrophyCoach  6 років тому +2

      Joleen Springer potentially. And if we just look at what’s actually occurring at the trainee joint, I see zero point for the exercise. Just do a wider stance leg press, and output would be higher

    • @HypertrophyCoach

    your thought on hip trust ?!?

  • @jasonweller2235
    @jasonweller2235 4 роки тому

    What about using a belt squat instead of a leg press for glute activation? It takes out any lower back rounding at the bottom and you can widen your stance to take out quad activation. Unfortunately it's a machine I don't see too often in normal gyms. I know this is usually a machine used by powerlifters, but powerlifters usually try and activate more glute/hip activation to move more weight.

    great video thanks for sharing this valuable knowledge! one question my gym has a leg press that your seated in more of a full fowlers/ upright seated position as opposed to your back being at 45 degree angle and I feel it definitely limits my range of motion and positionally makes it easy for the quads to take over, I tried using the smith machine as a single leg vertical leg press and felt a good deal of glue activation and ability to get greater stretch/range of motion on the eccentric phase, any thoughts on using the smith in that manner to achieve similar results to the leg press as you described? Thanks for your time

    one question about bar. should bar be touching your thighs or like in demonstration? because i always did RDL like shorter range deadlift while bar always touches my thighs.

    • @HypertrophyCoach
      @HypertrophyCoach  6 років тому +3

      Ged0 the band changes center of mass. So probably not. Best advice, don’t think about the bar. Just focus on hips, the bar goes where it goes

    For band or accomadating resistance do you have a length you like to program them in? 2 weeks on 2 off etc..or have you not seen any downside of always using them.
