2003 Z06 owner: I have done nothing but cosmetic changes on my vehicle. Taillights, front turn signal housings and upgraded all the interior bulbs to LEDs. But my most fantastic and highly improved change I made to my Corvette was switching out the utterly horrible stock headlights to HIDs. Wow what a difference! I can actually see the road now. I do not plan on installing any performance pieces because I am a firm believer that the car is engineered amazing as it is. Once you start adding performance parts, it's a domino effect which never ends. I want to car to last a long time so no performance parts for me.
Lyle, great mods! Love the body kit, wheels and brakes. Ok, ya got whoa, now ya need some GO! A nice cam and an A&A ‘charger. Yes! For me on my ‘11 GS in Supersonic blue, I’ve already done the cam and headers and CAI. Now, I’d do a Magnusson supercharger and an L-88 style hood to cover it. Since I do some track days, I do need some seats that hold me better. Some track tires on my extra set of GS wheels and I’m ready to rip! Ah, dreamin
I have a 2013 grand sport 60th anniversary edition which came with the selective magnetic ride control. The only thing I would do is headers and a full exhaust with a tune just so I know that that thing is able to fully breathe. Perfect weekend warrior love the C6 GS and big shout out to the LS3 🙂
After my first engine upgrade I went back to the Titanium Mufflers from a Borla system. My engine builder told me that the drone would be eliminated and would get load when I wanted her to. I then had a A&A Supercharger installed. She hit the Dyno and came up with 606hp at the rear tire. I also have a 2003 ZO6.
Great video Lyle! I bought a Track Prepped '03 Z06 that has the Wilwood 6-piston brakes up front and the 4-piston in the rear. We had to go with Speedline 18x10.5 in a square setup. The car really sticks with 315x30x18" on all four corners! I wish that I could just afford to get the C5R hood from C7. I have my American Racing long tube headers ceramic coated but it still gets pretty hot under the hood!
I have a low mile 02 convertible in yellow. I have done an intake, cat back and a short throw shifter. My dream adds would be supercharger, wider wheels, and a front splitter. Keep up the great videos.
I have a 02 z06 and over the years I professionally painted the rims gloss black to match the paint, added magnaflow cat back with lg headers and mid pipe. Then I ordered all the vette lights, ecs supercharger kit, made 651whp. Had that for three years blew a ringland on piston 5 and 7,now the block was machined with forged pistons and rods twin disc clutch and btr red hot cam! Still working on it but hoping to get 700whp with meth injection!
Since you're changing headers, which will affect the tune. Go through the top end, valley job, better intake. Rebuild the torque tube, with all this new found muscle. On top, do a Gurney bubble, that would be different. And don't forget new axle nuts. Have fun my friend.
The only modification I've done to my 99 Hardtop was change out the stock headlight bulbs (both upper and lower) to LASFit LED's. It was worth every penny. WOW what a difference !! The original bulbs were so dim, its actually a safety hazard. I don't have any plans to do any mods for two reasons. #1, since owning it nearly 2 years ago, I had the harmonic balancer, idler pulleys, tensioners and belts replaced, about $1500 all in. #2: I want to keep it bone stock. At only about 26k miles the interior stills smells new.
I have a C7 GS in Blade Silver with red hash marks. Inside, I would replace the seats with either full leather surfaces or a durable cloth upholster that still supports lumbar, heat, and ventilation. Outside, I would paint the car in Red Mist with silver hash marks. And that's about it. I'm pretty simple.
It involves welding in additional gussets around the outside of the mounts to bolster them. I am unaware of anyone making them...race teams that I know are just fabricating their own. Lyle
Mine is an Anniversary Edition so, as much as the wide body kit looks awesome, I wouldn’t change the cosmetics of my Ruby. However, I would put the bigger brakes, headers with X-pipes, supercharger and cam/valve spring upgrade. Then have the interior redone by an upholstery shop to leather envelope it like Cadillac. 😁
huge fan of your channel Lyle crazy that there you are in so happens to be my dream car 💪💪💪 i have a 93 C4 i would like to do a couple upgrades/Mods to hopefully this year brings good results 🫵🤙💪
@@bryerschiesser9696 I have to look this up. Everybody’s been talking about this wide body kit! want a C5 Z in my stable like Veruca Salt wanting a Oompa Loompa!
im only 6-6 and cant imagine another 5 inches. I get it how people think it’s awesome to be tall. We can clean the top of refrigerators, but we live things average people don’t get. and don’t talk to us about ceiling fans! OK we get it.!! haaa! great vid Lyle! I would say body kit and the exhaust. Would love to see that that’s one of my favorite Corvettes the Z06 C5..
The thing about being tall is that short people are always asking "could you get that for me please". But drop your car keys and ask them to pick them up for you because, after all, they're closer and they get all huffy about it.
For my 98' Coupe: Carbon Fiber Customs in Greece made a full carbon body, shaved something like 282 lbs and they sell most of the body panels, so I'd get everything they sell. Celeritech is working on an 8 to 1 exhaust kit for the C5, so I'll be snagging that once it's available. A Whipple supercharger would perfect the sound, Penske 8700's would help put the power down, AP Racing's brake kit would keep everything in check, and that's my short list.
When I eventualy get my c5, I would get the square sleepy eyes and infinity taillights. Instal a new radio with android connectivity, stil plays cds and a screen that you can hide when you don't use it. Something to make the car more speedbumpfriendly, with a adjustable ride hight.
Lyle, I have a black 03 Z06 just like yours with 87,000 miles and love it! I’d like to do a mild cam, headers, new rockers, valve springs(mine has the yellow springs😅) harmonic balancer and a performance clutch.
The stock 03 convertible , slightly lowered , with a magna flow axel back exhaust, that I already own, fits my needs. My old left knee, worn out from too many shifts sometimes disagrees. I did install a MacCloud twin disk street clutch and matching lighter flywheel, but it still modulates like a stock clutch, so I almost forgot to mention that. the advantage is a smaller diameter rotating mass , with a lot more friction material for long wear , with a little bit lighter steel flywheel. A clamshell hood would be nice. I always wondered about the suitability of the shock towers for coil overs, and was glad to have that settled in this video.. I had never heard that issue definitively addressed before, just people digging the modification , with no concerns expressed about the original shock tower design capabilities.
First thing I'd do is upgrade the lighting. LED all around an replace the headlights with? I'm looking to you, Lyle, for inexpensive but something that allows you to see down the road. Without over driving the headlights. Even with LED bulbs in stock housings, the car will go faster than you can see down the road.
For the best down the road lighting, I recommend either the Sleepy Eye Conversion or the ACA LED conversion. The ACA units keep the original look of your stock headlights, but both systems really cast the light down the road. Lyle :)
I have a ‘76 with the L82 with 121,000 miles on the clock. If I had a chance and a large inheritance I’d put an edelbrock top end and roller cam on the engine and for the outside a Greenwood Lemans body kit. Isn’t dreaming great?
Hey Lyle! Great video and content, as always. Just FYI, you put the same link for coilovers as you did for the seats. I'm curious which coilovers you would recommend, hope to get the correct link sometime. Thank you sir! Cheers, Lyle and all.
2014 Stingray with Z51 & NPP I bought about 7 months ago. Very near future, like this year, American Racing long-tube headers and tune. Maybe x-pipe, maybe skip it. Several years down the road, centrifugal supercharcher. New wheels (still shopping for which ones). I like the design of the stock wheels, but they're painted cast aluminum. I'd like some good forged wheels. Minor changes to exterior trim (get rid of all chrome badges, replace with carbon flash, get rid of stock grill with the chrome strip, replace with Z06 style). Maybe, maybe, somewhere down the road, a wide-body kit for the wider wheels/tires. If money was no object, a fully built bored and stroked engine. . . . or I may just leave it stock and save my pennies to eventually trade up to a C7 Z06 or maybe a C8 of some type. Still on the fence about that.
We were informed on the morning after the video release that the design IP ownership was being contested, so we took down the video and stopped sales immediately. It will be coming back once we get over this speed-bump. Thankfully, I had just enough on-hand to fill the orders we had already received. Lyle

Hey Lyle, here's an idea for you ... is there anyone who makes a Silicone tray that will fit the battery compartment in a C5, so that you can place it underneath the battery and it will contain any overflow / acid leakage so you can catch the problem before it causes damage? I think that would be a product EVERY single C5 owner would purchase....
I had no idea you were almost 6'11. How the heck do you fit in the C5? I'm 6'2 and encroaching on the limit of my comfort. My 6'7 buddy looked absolutely miserable in the passenger seat for a 10 minute drive. 😂
$40k??? I would sell my A&A supercharge and build a NA motor that matches the 610hp to the ground. I love the power but the heat soak at the track and 30lb on the nose would not be missed at all. I also do not like the blower whine that everyone else seems to love for some reason. The rest of the car is perfect for the class I run.

American racing long tube headers and cat less X pipe with the z06 titanium axle back.
