Just as a side note...Bruce is in his 60's and still leaping like he's 20 years old. He has more energy now than most anyone younger than him. Amazing performer, singer and an amazing man. He is a commercial pilot and he is a world class fencer. This band has been the soundtrack of my life forever. My boys both grew up on Maiden and have been to two or three live shows. I've only seen them live once but it is something you do not forget. Nicko McBrain is a great drummer.
that little plane saved my country from the horror of being ruled by the nazis in WW2 in Britain the Spitfire is and will always be a hero and so are Maiden. if you get a chance check out, on youtube about the spitfire and the war in the skies above England also known as the battle of Britain.
"Aces High" is frequently used as the opening song for Iron Maiden concerts. As seen in concert videos such as Live After Death and Iron Maiden: Flight 666, it is usually preceded by Winston Churchill's "We shall fight on the beaches" speech with the sound of planes in the background. Churchill's speech was also included at the beginning of the song's music video.
I have see this video about 2000 times . Each time it raises new goosebumps that have never been raised before ! The energy of this band and song is bar none!!!
Epic song. This song holds a special place for me. My dad was a Carrier pilot in world war 2. And was in the pacific. He flew the “Ensign killer”, F4 Corsair. I played him the song when it first came out, and he actually liked it because of the story of the fighter pilot in the Battle of Britain. He could relate to it. “Live to fly and fly to live”, was the lyric that really stood out to him, since that was how he felt flying as a young man in world war 2. RIP pop.
Bruce Dickinson and his band mates were watching the _Iron Maidens_ (all female cover band) and said to Steve Harris, _"This is a really weird question, but looking at them, would you f**k yourself?"_ And he went, _"I don’t know, but we’ve all been thinking it."_
That intro was from a famous speech from William Churchill during WW2. Not exactly sure when but may be during the Battle over Britain. Thus the song Aces High
Heavy Metal is a tribute TO Iron Maiden . . . Yupp, of the many concerts I have been to in my 50+ yrs,, nobody ever did it better, more often, for 40+ yrs. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Die With Your Boots On 22 Acacia Avenue Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Wasted Years Flight Of Icarus Runnin' Free Run To The Hills The Prisoner Hallowed Be Thy Name And, the list would just keep going on & on ! Great reaction, just found your channel, based on Maiden massive fan base + algorithm. *Up The Irons* 🤘
I love Iron Maiden! UP THE IRONS! Listen to the songs The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner live (flight 666), Keeper Of The Seven Keys and Halloween 13 min version by Helloween. Rollercoaster of a song.
I will always have a special place in my heart for this song since I became a major Iron Maiden fan right in between this and the previous album. I was so anticipating *Powerslave* to come-out and, when it did, it definitely did not disappoint at all. 🤘🏻🐻🤘🏻
Up The Irons!! Been to 3 shows and so much love from all genders, nationalities, ages. So many young faces at shows. Great reaction and keep up the live Maiden shows because they are one of the best live entertainers. Maiden 2022 tour tickets are on sale now! I got mine for September 2022 🤞
To put this show into further context, it was the first time a major Western rock band brought its full stage set to Mumbai. This was a big-time breakthrough concert in India and opened the floodgates for other rock acts. There were 35,000 or so people inside this outdoor arena and as many or more outside the fences that couldn't get in. Caused a major security problem. They're playing on a stage that elephants helped to construct. Fantastic video footage of that which is now hard to find. And the only thing I can say to your comment about Dickinson and his energy level is check out the entire Rock in Rio 2001 show (or any other for that matter). His energy and the band's energy and the crowd's energy is constant for the entire show.
@@rustytrombone8011 1980 was when their 1st album was released, but the material for all of it and most of the material for their 2nd album had already been played for a few years around England by that point. They were a huge draw in the pubs and clubs in the late 70s. It's where they started to build an incredibly loyal fan base before even putting an album out.
You should watch the entire documentary Flight 666. The band toured with their own customized Boeing 757, called Ed Force One, with Bruce as the pilot. It's an amazing documentary and showcases perfectly how popular, influential and impactful the band and their music are. Also, this performance was in India and since they're a former British colony, they are very familiar with the language over there.
New subsvriber here. Great reaction, keep up with Iron Maiden coming. Here are a few really good live versions just to mention a few you should try to react to... The Clansman (that's a really happy drummer lol) Dance With Death The Talisman Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner Blood Brothers
Paul Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958) His mother, Sonia, worked part-time in a shoe shop, and his father, Bruce, was a mechanic in the British Army.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner live is a must. Bruce is on point in that one. The introduction of the song by him is priceless. "This is not what to do if a bird shits on you."
I always loved the fact that they wore thier own band t- shirts. Not many bands did that back in the day. But they every concert would wear Maiden shirts. Save money any way you can...hahahaha.
🌷🌷🌷🌷 Thank you for this reaction guys! The whole flight 666 lives are amazing! My favourites are Revelations and The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. With Maiden live is always better. Everytime I see them live I am happy for days!
Wow I really enjoyed this reaction. You guys definitely gotta react to more maiden! Like everyone else says rime of the ancient mariner live flight 666 is another great one. Fear of the dark live in rock in rio 2001 is also amazing.
the doc FLIGHT 666 THE FLIGHT OF THE BEAST is awesome-they hit all the secondary markets around the globe so each show is the 1st time playing that venue (and sometimes country)
The audio on this video had a spliced intro from the album using both the Churchill speech and the intro to the song. The concert audio kicked in when they drew the curtains.
What I think you might like about Bruce in the live performative watched is, he's older than the studio versions you've heard and his voice has matured and stuff since hallowed. He is a much more technically better singer now than he was then no doubt
If you prefer Maiden's live performances then you got to check one of these three from Rock in Rio (2001) - Brave New World, The Clansman or Sign of the Cross. These are one of their best live ones ever played by them.
Add: after coming back to this reaction I'll give you info about the things you've mentioned at the start - Nicko (the drummer) is a Christian. The rest isn't and although the band was never satanic they have some occult songs for sure. Bruce was always inspired by Alistair Crowley (even directed a movie about him IF I remember correctly) and Steve was into historical but also weirdly spiritual stuff. So I'm not sure about their approach to the Bible and so on. One of their recent tours had the whole theme made like a satanic church with pentagram and Edward on the drums. So I still like some of their songs but I'm not sure what's their "energy". Not everything is black and white.
Check out his earlier live version of Number of the Beast. That scream is epic. And fyi, Iron Maiden is always better live IMO. Going to see them in October at Honda Center, Anaheim CA.
There's a subset of Maiden fans, like me, that prefer original vocalist Paul Di'Anno. And I'm going to suggest a song that shows a completely different side of Maiden. From 1980, Strange World is a haunting, sensitive psych/prog ballad. And it features 2 fantastic guitar solos in a dreamy vein. Paul's vocals are soulful, you won't believe how different from Dickinson he is. I'm embedding a fan-made video that has great imagery, so you'd have something to look at. m.ua-cam.com/video/cRfVqpQbXx8/v-deo.html
Iron Maiden, one of the originals. Saw them in the late 80's on the Seventh Son Tour - it was a damn good concert and my buddy crashed his Firebird, ahh memories. You gentleman should hear "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" - a good tune.
Just a quik FYI about the whole Number of the Beast thing... The song was written by bassist Steve Harris. One night he had a nightmare after watching a horror movie before going to sleep (the movie was called Omen 2 I think) and he had this dream about a satanic ritual he was terrified of. When he woke up, he wrote the song. And the lyrics of that song make it clear that it talks about a guy witenssing a satanic ritual and being scared s**tless by it and trying to run away and call the police or smh. So yeah you're right, they're not satanic. That's just the shallow opinion of some bigot who reads "666 number of the beast", stops there without actually looking things up and go whine about them worshiping the devil or something like that.
Look online for When Bruce Dickinson was asked to fly into the enemy's air space to fly back troops to safety. Its on the internet and explains in more detail than I am going to put in the comments.

Nicko's 70th birthday is about to come up. Still the fastest right foot in rock

Maiden fans are the most die hard fans and the best up the irons!
That is Winston Churchill speaking in the beginning.
Murray and Smith are the most underrated guitarists ever
Went to their last concert in Mansfield ,Ma. Everyone knew and sang the lyrics. Best concert ever. Thank you Steve! U know who u are😜
Great Woods is a cool venue - seen Maiden there 4 (or 5?) times. It's always a long strange trip from NH to Mansfield...
Subbed in hopes of more Maiden! Iron Maiden fans will flood your channel if you keep doing Maiden stuff, love your guys' format too.

I love the song "Killers" from their second album of the same name. Best solos I've ever heard a metal band make.
Great energy. Epic band that should be reacted Live. Up the irons 🔥 🤘🏻
Next, The Clansman, The Talisman, The red and the black (live, of course)
The Clansman YES
And the giant airplane that came down from the ceiling was awesome!!!
Late 70’s and early to mid-80’s is their high point. Recommend performances from that period when vocals and everything was extra tight!
well, the first record came out in 1980. how about trying again when you know of what you speak.
@@rustytrombone8011 - will I actually saw them live in 1985 my friend. But I will differ to your superior knowledge on the subject.

The Clansman (that's a really happy drummer lol)
Dance With Death
The Talisman
Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner
Blood Brothers
On their latest tour, Legacy of the Beast, they have a full scale model of a Spitfire flying over the stage.
I just saw this 5 days ago. Still crazy good!
Paul Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958) His mother, Sonia, worked part-time in a shoe shop, and his father, Bruce, was a mechanic in the British Army.
They have more energy here than when I was 15 for Chris's sake!

One of the (very) rare band always better live than on album..... see Maiden live, or die!
Agree 100 %
Loving the energy that these guys bring!

Surprisingly enough at the Boston show two years ago aces high was the first song
Try possibly my favorite Maiden song and as close to a ballad as they get, Strange World with original vocalist Paul Di'Anno.

They’re great live. But this song vocally is better studio. Thanks guys.
Mic problems too deep in the mix.
Remote earpiece control the fault of the mixing desk.
But for Maiden fans,we know every word anyway.
