I read the whole of Job chapter in the Bible. Two things caught me greatly: 1) after he is totally inflicted with loss of everything any human can endure, he shows, at first, a natural reaction. He tears down his clothes the he puts ashes on his head. 2) right after this he prostrates, probably, in total pain and misery, he utters these following words: " My Lord has tested me, He knows the WAY that i take, and i will shine like Gold. " I believe eveyrone, no matter what creed, should read this chapter. It shows how people, even prophets, went through. Even today if a person talks about truth he or she more than likely will be criticized, to say the least. We hope and believe this will come to past. Dr.Alley's mention of Quran that it gets to the gist of matter is quite right. Thank you and best regards.
“Verily! distress has seized me and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.” So We answered his call, and we removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his family to him (that he had lost), and the like thereof along with them as a mercy from Ourselves and a Reminder for all who worship Us.” (Quran 21:83-84), but the Bible, Job did curse God.
The problem with this is it isn't true to life, it of no value to someone who is in the midst of trauma. In the Bible Job cried out that it isn't fair, and he has waited for God, and he still suffers. Everyday there are people who are crying out to God with sincerity and yet find no relief. In the Bible God chastises the fools who said Job must have deserved his fate. God recognises Jobs suffering as real and shows that it actually matters to him. And secondly he convinces Job that he cannot understand everything. His thoughts cannot comprehend Gods purposes, not the good God brings or the evil he averts. Those 2 lessons are of infinite more value then a story about a man who cried out for help and the help was ready at hand.
@@phun1901 The problem is that the story begins with God highly praising Job for his righteousness. God says to Satan: *“Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” [Job 1:8]* Satan proceeds to challenge God, stating that the only reason Job is upright is because Job has a good life, with a large family and plenty of wealth. Satan predicts that if God were to test Job ‘properly’ then Job would “curse God”: *“But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.” [Job 2:5]* God allows Satan to test Job by afflicting his health: *The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.” [Job 2:6]* Once the trials commence, Job fails to remain patient and proceeds to complain about his sorry state, even going so far as to blaspheme against God numerous times: *The arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors are marshaled against me. [Job 6:4]* *I will say to God: Do not condemn me, but tell me what charges you have against me. Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the schemes of the wicked? [Job 10:2-3]* *then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me. “Though I cry, ‘I’ve been wronged!’ I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice.” [Job 19:6-7]* *Job says, ‘I am innocent, but God denies me justice.’ [Job 34:5]* *For he [Job] says, ‘It profits a man nothing when he tries to please God.’ [Job 34:9]* We are told that a man called Elihu, who had witnessed Job’s tirade against God, is angered by Job’s blasphemy: *So these three men stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God. [Job 32:1-2]* Elihu asks Job to listen to him so that he might impart some wisdom: *“But if not, then listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.” [Job **33:33**]* Elihu defends God against Job’s accusations: *So listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do evil, from the Almighty to do wrong. He repays everyone for what they have done; he brings on them what their conduct deserves. It is unthinkable that God would do wrong, that the Almighty would pervert justice. [Job **34:10**-12]* Elihu is very direct with Job, he accuses him of speaking without knowledge, lacking wisdom and that his conduct has been like that of a wicked man: *“Men of understanding declare, wise men who hear me say to me, ‘Job speaks without knowledge; his words lack insight.’ Oh, that Job might be tested to the utmost for answering like a wicked man! To his sin he adds rebellion; scornfully he claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against God.” [Job **34:34**-37]* After chastising Job, Elihu proceeds to give him the correct insight into his condition: *Then Elihu said: “Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am in the right, not God.’ Yet you ask him, ‘What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’ I would like to reply to you and to your friends with you.” [Job 35:1-4]* The Bible goes on to tell us that God eventually intervenes and Job repents from his sins. He is forgiven by God and has his full heath restored. Now the way that the story unfolds is highly problematic for a number of reasons: 1. Bible describes Job as a righteous man, that he is “blameless and upright”. Now, it’s very easy to be happy with God when times are good. True piety, however, is being happy with God when one has nothing. Showing gratitude to God and remaining steadfast in the face of trials is a sign of strong faith. So from this point of view hasn’t Satan effectively “one-upped” God - Satan challenged God when he predicted that Job would curse God, and so hasn’t Job’s blasphemies proven Satan to be correct? 2. How is it that the young man Elihu, who unlike Job is not a Prophet, demonstrates more wisdom in religious matters than a Prophet of God? Recall that the Bible stated that there was “no one on earth” like Job, yet this young man seems to possess more insight into Job’s situation than Job himself. What's ironic is that New Testament presents Job as an example of a Prophet who remained patient in the face of suffering: *Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. [James 5:10-11]* The Qur’an resolves all of these Biblical inconsistencies and issues in just a few short verses. Rather than complaining about his situation to other people, Job calls on God for help. Notice that Job doesn’t blaspheme against God, rather he blames Satan for his hardship: *“Bring to mind Our servant Job who cried to his Lord, ‘Satan has afflicted me with weariness and suffering.’” [Qur'an 38:41]* God rewards Job’s unwavering faith by healing him and replacing everything that Satan took away from him: *‘Stamp your foot! Here is cool water for you to wash in and drink,’ and We restored his family to him, with many more like them: a sign of Our mercy and a lesson to all who understand. [Qur'an 38:42-43]* God compliments Job for his patience in the face of such trials: *“We found him patient in adversity; an excellent servant! He, too, always turned to God.” [Qur'an 38:44]* Job’s righteous conduct in the Qur’an is exactly what we would expect of a Prophet of God. Moreover we learn a great lesson, that no matter what trials we face, no matter how severe an affliction we are tested with, we should always remain patient, for in the end the righteous are rewarded.
Much respect and thank you to you and your guest. I have a perspective, if I may, not based on religion, just about relationship between God and man. Job went into the temple to pray for forgiveness on behalf of his children. Job perceived their partying could've brought rise to bad words against God. Job , for a moment was not connected to his relationship to God and his blessings, which he had to tend to at the time. That moment, he was in fear for his children and not in his gratitude. His relationship with God took a backseat, for a moment, to prioritize his childrens relationship with God. My question is, can fear(darkness) & gratitude ( peace & light ) exist in the same time frame of mindspace. Peace and light to all

How? The bible portrays god in a negative light by letting his servant suffer and not relieving him of his suffering. The Quran and how it speaks of job is right since god tests his servants with hardship for a purpose and gives them a reward they didn't even think they'd have or wanted. Satan proceeds to challenge God, stating that the only reason Job is upright is because Job has a good life, with a large family and plenty of wealth. Satan predicts that if God were to test Job ‘properly’ then Job would “curse God”:
*“But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.” [Job 2:5]*
God allows Satan to test Job by afflicting his health:
*The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.” [Job 2:6]*
Once the trials commence, Job fails to remain patient and proceeds to complain about his sorry state, even going so far as to blaspheme against God numerous times:
*The arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors are marshaled against me. [Job 6:4]*

*Job says, ‘I am innocent, but God denies me justice.’ [Job 34:5]*
*For he [Job] says, ‘It profits a man nothing when he tries to please God.’ [Job 34:9]*
We are told that a man called Elihu, who had witnessed Job’s tirade against God, is angered by Job’s blasphemy:
*So these three men stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God. [Job 32:1-2]*
Elihu asks Job to listen to him so that he might impart some wisdom:

After chastising Job, Elihu proceeds to give him the correct insight into his condition:
*Then Elihu said: “Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am in the right, not God.’ Yet you ask him, ‘What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’ I would like to reply to you and to your friends with you.” [Job 35:1-4]*
The Bible goes on to tell us that God eventually intervenes and Job repents from his sins. He is forgiven by God and has his full heath restored. Now the way that the story unfolds is highly problematic for a number of reasons:
What's ironic is that New Testament presents Job as an example of a Prophet who remained patient in the face of suffering:
*Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. [James 5:10-11]*
The Qur’an resolves all of these Biblical inconsistencies and issues in just a few short verses. Rather than complaining about his situation to other people, Job calls on God for help.
Notice that Job doesn’t blaspheme against God, rather he blames Satan for his hardship:
*“Bring to mind Our servant Job who cried to his Lord, ‘Satan has afflicted me with weariness and suffering.’” [Qur'an 38:41]*
God rewards Job’s unwavering faith by healing him and replacing everything that Satan took away from him:
*‘Stamp your foot! Here is cool water for you to wash in and drink,’ and We restored his family to him, with many more like them: a sign of Our mercy and a lesson to all who understand. [Qur'an 38:42-43]*
God compliments Job for his patience in the face of such trials:
*“We found him patient in adversity; an excellent servant! He, too, always turned to God.” [Qur'an 38:44]*
Job’s righteous conduct in the Qur’an is exactly what we would expect of a Prophet of God. Moreover we learn a great lesson, that no matter what trials we face, no matter how severe an affliction we are tested with, we should always remain patient, for in the end the righteous are rewarded.

After landing of Quran, thousands people memorized it from cover to cover, and that memorization has continued in past 1400 years. Today, we have over 50 Million Huffaaz (humans who memorize whole Quran). These 50 millions are Soldiers of GOD he deployed to protect his Quran. Should you try to tamper any verse of Quran! you will be instantly challenged by Huffaaz. So, in fact, there is no any way to tamper Arabic text of Quran
you're completely wrong
In the Bible, God restored all Job’s live stocks in double but Job got back same number of human children. This means the dead children of Job were in paradise in God’s presence and new children and in that sense Job’s children got double. Life after death for human beings but not for animals
Its amazing that these people of the bible are called upon to guide humanity
What do you mean plz

The Bible, which is written by man, gives the details of the story of Job (PBUH). The Quran, which is the word of God, confirms the story. One cannot fully understand Islam if they have not studied the scriptures which came before it.
What? you pronounce jo-ab. I thought you say it like steve jobs.
Job is spiritual shaking story, From God Sitting in council and Satan walks in, God asked him Why he was there, God let Satan destroy all he owned and loved, Job was grateful for when God looked at him and knew him, God visited Job, at the End, People should Read the book, but be prepared for a spiritual Jihad
I think generally speaking Muslims miss the metanarrative of the Bible and in particular the Old Testament.
Stephen Atkins like what?
How? The bible portrays god in a negative light by letting his servant suffer and not relieving him of his suffering. The Quran and how it speaks of job is right since god tests his servants with hardship for a purpose and gives them a reward they didn't even think they'd have or wanted. Suffering has a purpose in the Quran, not in the bible or at least not in the bible as it exists today. I'm not trying to disparage your belief, I just don't agree with it.
I'm going to train and come back 🔙

How are we to understand the Quran in light of historians arguing that Job's story is entirely fictional? Same with Jonah? Should we stop seeing it as God narrating actual history, but more that God is drawing out morals for us to follow from mythic and factual history?
it can be we dont know but at the end of the day the point of all these stories are to take lesson and guidence from them

but bible also includes about Job's friends who came to reduce his greef
In the Quran they aren’t seen as his friends, but more so his brothers that mentioned some things that he (Job/Ayyub) may have done wrong.
Job is not a prophet in the Bible.
From Jewish views he is a prophet for the gentiles
@@TheKingofTheUniverse. no he isn't. Many people are mentioned and used by God doesn't mean that they are prophets. What is the meaning of prophecy to you?
@@Nderitu.G In rabbinical literature, Job is called one of the prophets of the Gentiles. My greatest problem is that Quran turns all the prophets into Muslims. But the video was interesting and well done.
True, and call people prophets even when they were not prophets in the Holy Bible
Stephen Atkins if someone worships the one God the creator of the heavens and the earth by following his messages he is a muslim
Muslim is is someone who submits his will to God someone who humbles himself before the lord someone that prostrates day and night and that’s why we call those prophets muslim this is exactly what they did and we are doing
@@zakbey3883 I worship one God the creator of heaven and earth and I am a Christian
@@oliver40212 But today's Christianity says that God is one in three forms, the father, the son and the holy spirit. You will have to abandon this belief and believe that God is one, without any partners, without any sons and daughters and wives, and is not a human. If you can let all of this go, you automatically are classified as a Muslim, meaning one who submits to God.
@@iark1 Yea that's exactly what I mean, The Father, The Son and The Holy spirit are one god not three. Everything was created through Him
