In Muslim thought, when someone like Joseph comes up, neither confirmed nor denied, we usually say "God knows best" meaning maybe he existed, maybe he didn't. It's certainly possible he was the father figure of Jesus as Christians believe according to Islam as there are many figures in the stories of the prophets that the Qur'an either glosses over or verbally excludes altogether. But in terms of importance, I'd say no as he was never mentioned at all.

The Quran made a very important point to compile Joseph's entire story in 1 chapter [Surah 12] and only to have two named characters in the entire Surah, which are Joseph and Jacob. Everyone else is not named but rather referred to by their titles. The removal of names in the Quran actually reveals even more subtler details. In both the Biblical and Quranic text, Joseph's dream showed the Sun, Moon and 11 celestial bodies prostrating towards him. In the biblical context, The dream is interpreted such that the Moon is Leah, the stepmother of Joseph [Because Rachel apparently died shortly after Benjamin's birth.] The Sun is Jacob and the 11 stars are the 11 brothers. In the Quranic context, Rachel was never mentioned to have died. Even more interestingly, The moon is interpreted to be Jacob because the masculine form of the word "moon" is used while the Sun is interpreted to be Rachel, as the feminine form of the word "sun" is used. By removing the names of the side characters, the Quran seems to make a point in saying that Rachel didn't actually die and was actually there with Jacob in Egypt to fulfill the interpretation of Joseph's dream. The Quran finally makes an important distinction by mentioning the title, rather than the name of the Egyptian ruler. In both Hebrew and Biblical contexts, the term Pharoah and King is used interchangeably to represent the King of Egypt at the time of Joseph. The Quran strictly uses the word "King" (Malik) instead of "Pharoah" (Fir'aun) which was used in the story of Moses in Surah Taha.
