Every song on the "Tapestry" album could be certified gold. Everytime I hear songs from this album, I'm suddenly back in my parents living room, on the shag carpet listening to the record on the hi-fi. I can't even express the emotions this album brings up.
With Carol's beautiful voice along with her piano 🎹 playing outstanding. Thanks for another great tune from Carol. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
Just do a Tapestry album reaction. It’s a vibe from first to last and should be taken in during one continuous setting.
For a female Friday I would suggest some Liz Phair.
I grew up listening to my mom's 8-track of this album. I still remember her cranking this while she was cleaning the house. Now this whole album is embedded in my DNA. One of those rare albums that's "all killer, no filler".
My favorite part of this song is just her singing the word "place." Somehow in that one syllable you hear deep emotions missing someone. She gets inside the word.
Monster album...every song was on "heavy rotation" at the radio station.
@@Mister_Samsonite I agree 100%. It's such a perfect album. It always evokes great memories for me. 👍✌️🎶🇨🇦
Amber, describing Carol's music to a raindrop is poetically soothing to my soul.
Exactly. Amber doesn't sound "silly" at all. Her sensitive soul is being molded with beautiful music. Amber, don't feel inhibited...your true emotions can light up your reaction videos.
It is the perfect description! 🥰
This song takes me back to a time when I was young and in love 💕
Carole King actually recorded a song under the faux band name the Raindrops.
Carol King is simply an amazing singer and song writer. Every song on the Tapestry album is worth listening to. Her voice is so soothing and relaxing. And Amber, what you said about her voice being like a raindrop is a beautiful analogy. She was celebrated at The Kennedy Center Honors program in 2015. Aretha Franklin surprised her by singing Natural Woman and it's a performance you must see. She brought the audience to it's feet. I really believe you'll love it! Best wishes! And I hope Baby Luca feels better soon!
I wholeheartedly second that comment.
@@carokat1111 Thank you!
That Kennedy Center performance by Aretha is legendary! A fitting tribute for Carole King who is amazing and a trailblazer for women!
@@feminist5641 Yes indeed!
Great comment 👍
Her voice evokes so many memories of a simpler time, a time when true talent ruled the radio airwaves.....
"Tapestry" was the first album I ever bought for myself which I still own. As a 12 year old girl I thought it was the best thing I'd ever heard. I love it so much I have it on cassette and CD too.
Same!!
I still have the vinyl version in my record collection.
This was my sister's first album, our father recently passed and I found this record. I am going to surprise my sister and mail her this album.
Amber, taking your rain analogy a bit farther, Carole King's music and voice always reminds me of a scene where you're sitting in a big pillow filled window seat, wrapped in a super comfy blanket, with a cup of a favorite hot beverage and just staring at the rain falling outside. Nothing but the silence inside and the rain outside. Sheer perfection.
Exactly. Her voice is so warm and comforting
That song transported me back to college and those rainy days. I hope they dive into the 50's, 60's & 70's more, their stars are falling and we're also beginning to rise up, up and away. David Crosby of CSN&Y is gone, age 81. What were we doing listening to old people's music? lol
Couldn't of said it any better !! 👏🏼
Rarely has an album cover fit the music inside to perfectly.
From the time I was young my Carole King LPs were my rainy day go to.
Carol King is so amazing with songwriting and singer!! She toured with James Taylor a lot!❤❤❤❤❤
A perfect match. ✌️
James is playing acoustic guitar in this recording.
Carole King and James Taylor are old friends. Carole’s played on JT’s breakthrough album, “Sweet Baby James” and later provided him with the song, “You’ve Got a Friend”, one of his biggest hits. You can hear JT playing acoustic guitar on this song.
Or did James Taylor tour with HER a lot?
@@thomastimlin1724 hahaha!!
That album is amazing. A top 5 of all time
Album is an absolute masterpiece .. every track offers something unique.
Carol King what a winner! Most of her songs were award winners! She sang some of the song but different people sang other songs! She wrote “Natural Wiman for Aretha Franklin!
No your not silly girl ! This woman was a HUGE STAR AND WE ALL LOVE HER VOICE 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love this song!!! Her entire album "Tapestry" is a masterpiece.
Carole King's "Tapestry" is brilliant, a true masterpiece. Her voice is like honey to me, perfect, but very comfortable and relatable.
Carol along with Joni among the greatest songwriters ever. This is just a great song. Tapestry is so incredibly good. Arguably one of the greatest albums ever recorded.
Thanks for reacting to the fabulously talented Carole King. So many wonderful songs that she wrote and recorded as well as so many other artists she wrote for. A wonderful talent. 👏👏🇨🇦
Tapestry is full of beautiful songs. I had this album years ago. Next I think you should check out her song I Feel The Earth Move. ✌️❤️
The message of this song meant so much during the timeframe of the song's release. Nowhere near modern means of communications. Talking on the telephone was expensive. Being apart from loved ones was truly isolating. Today's generation hasn't the same experience of separation as the (recent) past.
My mom had this album when I was a kid and all these songs remind me of being a child in the 70s with my mom. It warms my heart just seeing the album cover.
Same here, loved her music as a kid in the 70s.
Agreed
Ditto. my mommas fav album turning on an old Fisher turntable makes me cry lost my momma 6yrs ago
Why does this song make me tear up every time? Cuz it’s brilliant?
Because it illicit a feeling of melancholy and nostalgia.
It reminds us of lost and unrequited loves.
Because you have a beautiful heart .
As a bass player listen to the bass line on this song and try to imagine composing that line and how well it fits.
The bass is amazing. I thought it was Leland Sklar but it’s not.
@@Noelle0026 I thought so too, just because of how fluid and subtle it was.
“Smackwater Jack”
is great too, totally different sound …
“Jazzman”
“I Feel The Earth Move”
“Sweet Season”
“You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman”
And Nightingale.
Thank you!!! Love Carole King!!!
MUST HEAR Classics,, Carole King "I Feel The Earth Move" & "Smackwater Jack"
A great song from one of the best albums of all time!! Released in 1971, Tapestry, was a HUGE, worldwide hit & won four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year (You've Got A Friend), and Record of the Year (It's Too Late). My favorites on the LP are I Feel The Earth Move, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, & Natural Woman. All songs were written by Carole, some with writing partners, some without. Treat yourselves one day & listen to the album from start to finish. Twelve excellent songs being sung by her beautiful voice, accompanied by her exquisite piano. You'll love it!!!
Amber and jay i agree
This album needs to be heard in its entirety
1971 was a great year in general for music and also brought us classic albums from Led Zepplin and Deep Purple which are still huge today 🙂 Those 3 albums (CK, LZ, DP) are still in my top 10 albums of all time today ❤️
My favourite is Way Over Yonder. I played it at my Daddy's funeral but it took me a long time to be able to listen to it again after that.
I love her voice so much. There are a few greats that just sound so sincere...her, Elton John, James Taylor...
Carole is one of America’s greatest songwriters - look up ‘hit songs written by CK’ and you’ll find a list as long as your arm!
Cool note: the ‘Tapestry’ recording sessions were going on the same time & place as the James Taylor ‘Mud Slide Slim’ sessions and they shared musicians… including backup singers, featuring Joni Mitchell… who you can hear on this song !
An amazing woman. She is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. Once as a songwriter and again as a singer, not many have that accomplishment
❤ Carol King is one of the giants. This album, Tapestry, is monumental, no exaggeration. She and her ex Gerry Goffin left an indelible mark on the history of music. Glad you are open to listening to music from the soundtrack of my life. Makes me realize how blessed I am for hearing this stuff all my life. Love you both!
Another great choice from Amber. This album was the one every hippie girl had and us guys too. One of the best songwriters ever.
Every head had this in their album collection.
Thank you so much and I do believe this is one of the best pop songs ever written. Ironic y’all where possibly not born yet,but in 1971 and thru out the seventies it seemed like this album was playing in every house across our country on Saturday afternoons. It is one of the best albums ever recorded and belongs in the top ten.
She plays the piano so beautifully and expressively, as well as sings with such an authentic voice, and she writes lovely songs. She is a uniquely talented lady. The entire Tapestry album is worth your time to enjoy.
"Jazzman" or "I feel the Earth Move" are her greatest IMO, absolutley fantastic
jazz mans my fav song
When I was in high school in the 1970s, this was my best friend's fav song. In 2009 we were both 49 yrs old & she passed away from cancer. It had remained her fav song all those yrs. It is so hard for me to listen to it, especially now that she is "so far away". I miss you Teecie. Incidentally, my mom died 2 weeks after Teecie died. 2009 was a very bad year for me. Thank you for reacting to So Far Away.
So sorry that you lost your friend!
I know every word to every song on the Tapestry album..
Me too.
Carole King co-wrote the Monkees smash hit "Pleasant Valley Sunday" with Gerry Goffin. (1967)
Her best song from one of the top selling albums of the rock era --- over 30 million sold.
Other hits from this album are 'It's Too Late' and 'I Feel the Earth Move.'
My mom listened to the Tapestry album a lot when I was a kid. These songs bring back so many memories for me of quiet times and cuddles with my mom.
I miss the talent of the singer/songwriters. The days when making wonderful music was more important that how you looked or if you could dance.
This was one of those albums that everyone had back then. The Boomers, admittedly, were the overseers of some of the most timeless and unique music of all time. This was some of it.
In the 1978 movie "American Hot Wax." Starring Chuck Berry, Jay Leno, Fran Deshner and others. There is a teenage girl who writes songs and comes across a young group of black kids singing. She asks them to sing one of her songs. This was Carol King who wrote many songs as a teenager in the 50's and 60's.
Take a look at this movie on your reaction movie night. It was about the famous Deejay who the government wanted to destroy because he was promoting lots of Black groups back in the early 50's for his radio station broadcast and concerts. The famous Deejay was a man named Alan Freed. This man was instrumental in the birth of Rock & Roll.
Tapestry use to be my Sunday morning go to album. It's easy listening and her voice is perfect.
just so you know, she is the woman in the audience reacting to aretha franklin's version of 'you make me feel like a natural woman'. she wrote it.
Her song Jazzman is my favorite by her. You would love it.
The record sold over 25 million copies worldwide, certified Platinum 14X. Every song on it is a banger. Some of the music I grew up with, I was 14 years old when it was released in 1971 and I did not know anybody who did not have a copy of this record. The kind of music meant for time capsules. Great reaction guys, TY.
In concert she would just sit at her piano and accompany herself. A great artist.
There is a Broadway musical that was written for and dedicated to Carole King and her music. It is simply called Beautiful. The perfect name.☺️
So many memories of people and times come with this song. Carol has a special way of bringing out the emotions of a song.
What a talented lady. She is the voice of the late sixties and seventies. Singer, songwriter, and a fantastic piano player!! Have always enjoyed her music. Really seemed to relax both of you. God Bless and peace, healing, and comfort to all!
One of the best albums ever. I was just a young girl when my older sisters first played it. That was in the 70's and still on my Spotify playlist
Carole King is an icon in American Music, as both a singer and songwriter. The album, "Tapestry" is one of the best selling albums of all time.
This entire album is a vibe. I don't think you can talk about 70s music without mentioning Tapestry. Carole King is amazing!
THIS is the Carole King banger. Thank you
Y’all have grown so much since I have started watching your channel. Your appreciation for music has grown and expanded incredibly. I love to hear the analysis of the music you both give now! In the beginning your descriptives were “wow that sounded great” and now you’re naming instruments and describing voices and feelings as “raindrops.” I absolutely love y’all’s appreciation for good music! Love you guys! ❤
I agree it's been fun watching them expand their knowledge.
A great duet is Carole and James Taylor, You've Got a Friend. Pure magic!
This entire album is sheer perfection and never gets tired or old.
This puts me back to my bedroom listening to this and waiting for my boyfriend to come home from Vietnam. Sweet song but also sad for me. Carole's piano is always outstanding. I always mixed her up with Carly Simon another great songwriter.
The great Carole King - you all don't know how huge this album was!! I'm old so this stuff is right in my wheelhouse from when I was young. Carole is always a great choice. Interesting comparison, Jay, between her and Karen Carpenter - they would have sounded good in a duet...
Raindrop! Great analogy Amber!! Thanks!❤❤❤❤❤
As a songwriter she is a MASTER, and this album was a MONUMENT to her abilities...what a great record.
My favorite songwriter Carol King…when I was a little girl our teacher (in the 70s) taught us all the chicken soup with rice songs.
She wrote her first #1 song at 14. She conducted the New York Philharmonic at 18.
I had this album and CD. I got to see her and James Taylor in concert in the early 2000's
Such a masterclass. That’s her husband at the time providing that amazingly expressive bass part, btw. Amber, your analogy of Carol’s music as a rain drop is perfectly stated. Cheers!
This Album (Tapestry) is considered one of the all time greatest Albums, Carole is imho a Superstar and just a sublime singer, along with Joni, Sarah and Joan are 4 magical Singers\Writers and will go down in history as the creme de creme.
Carole is a national treasure. You really should read about her contributions to music for decades. From Ine Fi e Day to Up On The Roof to You've Got Friend, she is magic.
Love Amber’s reaction, her feel for the essence & inner truth of every song - she gets it. Authentic reaction. And Carol King and the Tapestry album are legendary/ must haves.
Carole King's "Tapestry" album is a must have masterpiece for anyone's music collection.
Carol is such a vibe and I love to hear her sing with James Taylor. Makes me go back to my youth and I become very nostalgic.
So Far Away features James Taylor on acoustic guitar. The musicians who played on the album felt honored to be playing with a great singer songwriter.
Hey Rob Squad I would really love to see you react to Aretha Franklin singing "You make me feel like a natural woman" at the Kennedy Center Awards. Gives me chills everytime especially since Aretha was very ill with pancreatic cancer which eventually took her life. Carol wrote it and both recorded it Carol's reaction it's both genuine and beautiful. Aretha's performance is incredible. They are both amazing performers and the entire audience was blown away!
Aretha singing honoring Carol King at the Kennedy Center Honors is a MUST! I believe it was Ms Franklin’s last major performance. NATURAL WOMAN was written specifically for Aretha it was Dec 2015 but what an incredible , even historic performance.
I love hearing you guys react as you are so beautiful to each other. Never interrupting or talking over each other but saying I know what you mean etc. I loved this song since it came out. Really love the bass , it’s so good . In fact the whole album is fantastic.
Amber, you are so right on!! Carole King’s entire Tapestry album is the *perfect* rainy day soundtrack!
There are many great albums, MANY. This is in a category all by itself. She is a great songwriter..... throw in that voice & piano playing & you hit paydirt. She soothe's the soul.
The Tapestry album earned her the distinction of being the first woman to win 5 grammys. Tapestry is one of the best albums all time.
My mother introduced me to Carole. I was only 10 or 11 but knew I was listening to something special. 30 years later, Im still listening. Thank you mom!!
This album was the soundtrack of many of our lives in the early seventies ❤
I have loved Carole King and her music since I found her in 1971. All the tracks on the "Tapestry"-album hit me then...and still do. Since then I have bought most of her music. She and her colab with James Taylor during the years......just an amazing duo as well. I love that the new generations also seems to find her (and James) interesting to listen to
Carole King is simply one of the best, the complete Tapestry album is worthy of listening too. 😎🍺
Love Carol King .. and that flute .. omgosh the best sounding flute ever. Perfect ending ❣️😊
One of the greatest song writers ever. Find any guy that grew up in the 70's and if they're honest they will admit that they had this album.
Carole King is a national treasure, and the Tapestry album is a wondrous creation. Thanks for reviewing this! For some upbeat tunes by Ms. King that will keep you awake, check out Jazzman, Smackwater Jack (also from Tapestry), and Corazón.
Wonderful as it was then.🥰
Wow, listening toCarol King is like a raindrop. What a perfect description to a memory. Just perfect.
Great reaction, guys!!
Another fantastic female artist from this era is Rickie Lee Jones--- she's bluesy and jazzy, soulful and unique.
I get the feeling you'd love her...
Chuck E's in love! I have suggested it before. They will love it!
@@mtinta2000 great suggestion!
Or, "Danny's All-star Joint"...
Agree. Danny' s All Star Joint.
Carole King was a 50's, 60's and 70's artist (she was the then GF of Neil Sedaka and inspired his "O Carole". She wrote songs in the same "Brill Building" as Paul Simon. It was only after about 15 years of writing for others that in 1971 she released Tapestry).
Rickie didn't break out till1978/9 - just a bit later.
If you really want a taste of Rickie at her jiving best, try "Woody and Dutch on the Slow Train to Peking" from Pirates (1981)....
10,000%. But Chuck E’s In Love is well know man but not reflective of most of her work. I’ll take ‘A Lucky Guy’ or ‘Livin It Up’. But Rickie is a very unique jazz infused female artist for a FF.
I like that it's a song that can be about a friend and not a break-up theme. Just about anyone you miss!
You should watch Aretha Franklin on the Kennedy Center Honors of Carole King singing "Natural Woman" (which Carole wrote)
Not only a golden voice
but a great song writer and musician the total package
Finally some more Carol King! So love her and all the singer/songwriters of the early 70’s! ❤️❤️❤️
Brings me to tears every time!!!! 😢✌️❤️
James Taylor plays the guitar on this song. The whole tapestry album is legendary. Check out more! 💯🔥
It's very satisfying to see a new generation discovering the awesome talents I grew up with, and mostly took for granted. Time has revealed they really were as terrific as we thought they were. Carole King is one of those great ones whose music changes people's lives. While watching this, it occured to me that you might like Laura Nyro's Wedding Bell Blues. She was another unique artist of that era.
Some other songs to check out by Carole King: "I Feel the Earth Move", "Home Again", "Been to Canaan", and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"
Love Been to Canaan
Carole’s the best! Was sooo popular in the 70’s! Everyday you could here several of her songs played on the radio!!!❤️
She is so good. I have several of her albums, this is one of my favs. I love to put them on the record player and drift back to easier times. Great reaction.
colossal album! every song on it is fantastic! this album will playing tomorrow while i am just cooling at the house!
Amber, using a raindrop to describe her was absolutely beautiful. ♥️
This is another song that reminds me of how blessed I am to have a family that loves a lot of different types of music. This was one of our picnic on the grass, or just lying on a blanket on the grass songs.
My mom loved being outside and we'd always have a portable radio or player for 8-tracks, cassettes, and then CDs to listen to music outside. She said when I was a baby, she'd take her 8-track player, a blanket and some snacks to the backyard and listen to soothing music to help me take a nap. She did the same for my younger brother, and both of us together. 🙂
Geeez, I miss her so much. 😢
Always perfect lyrics..to convey the soulful Spirit of her songs..
When she was inducted into Rock n Roll HOF..the artists that came to honor her were some HOF performers..e.g. :Aretha.. Or React to , I Feel the Earth Move , then "Been to Canaan " ...or Some of songs she wrote for other artists , "Locomotion" for Little Eva , "Up On the Roof" for the Drifters. ."Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" for the Shirelles..!
For me as a bass player this song is amazing. That with her vocals and piano.
Amazing bass
The bassist is Charles Larkey, who was Carole's husband at the time. She continued to use him through her classic period, even for a time after they broke up.
Beautiful analogy with the raindrop, Amber. Very soothing. I think about the rain falling and soothing us into sleep just like Carole soothes us.
Another great selection off her Tapestry album of 71. Hooks that really connect and stay with you .. Her songs age so well imho
So glad you're doing more Carole King. Tapestry is one of the most successful pop/rock albums of all time. Every song on it is a classic, but the two I highly recommend that you haven't done yet are "I Feel the Earth Move" (it's the album opener, more up tempo and pretty danceable) and "Beautiful" (the chorus could serve as a theme for your channel - seriously). One other note: the song in the opening credits of "A League of Their Own," which you posted recently, is also by Carole King, "Now and Forever," from the late '80s. That one hits on multiple levels for me. Great stuff as always!
So Carole King has a ton of classic songs, and also has written tons of classic songs performed by other artists. You could do a whole week on her.
I’ve been waiting for you two to react to this song. When I say this song touches my soul, it just takes me to emotions I can’t describe. Amber - your raindrop analogy is perfect to describe Carol’s music.
