Hey quick question any ideas on adding like the. Drawer system ikea has that has the see through top? 👀👀👀 I love your build by the way I’m planning on doing this
I put this together for my wife. She loves it thx for your help. I spent under 150.00 🙏💯
WOW!!! Thanks for sharing!! Do you guys have any pics that you can share via IG?? @AmorAntasia
How sweet!
How were you able to do it for under $150
Where you live Marcus?? 🤪
So sweet❤️😍🥰
My husband and I did the same thing a few months ago. Putting the bookcases together was easy, however we choose to raise them to allow floor space to store extra shoes and miscellaneous items. We also added bars for hanging clothes in between the book cases using rods from lowes and extra shelves using Rubbermaid shelves from home depot. Our closet is much more functional and we saved hundreds. One tip if you are worried about it tipping you can add shelf brackets to the corners. That's what we did. It only adds a few dollars.
Thanks for sharing!!
@tiarra L Do you have pictures
@@asthefanturns I have pictures I have to figure out how to upload them.
@Tiarra L did you film your diy project?
Did u use the same shelves (11.5 depth?)
I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure how to find an affordable closet organization solution. This is BRILLIANT! Thank you for sharing! Off to order materials!
Hi..Did you get it done yet ,was it easy?
I just started my diy closet using billy bookcases from ikea and other bookcases from target. The bookcases are very stable and strong. I used the same bookcases in my home office have dragged them from one room to another and I've had them for over 7 years.
I love how you said “to hold all my fashions” that’s so cute
Super impressed!! I’m considering doing this for our new walk in closet because dropping a thousand dollars is not what I want to do. I actually love how it isn’t built into the wall so it’s not damaging the wall at all!
Yes! I was able to move the full unit to my new apartment also!
I bought two of these target bookcases and used it to store my handbags, shoes and over the knee boots since my closet is so small. Love having everything on display.
Yes!! ✨
This is clever. I always think that they’re just book shelves but I didn’t think to buy rods. Please show us how you put in the drawers.
Thank you!!
Omg gosh you’re amazing.. I literally died when I seen the drill..Just wow..keep up the good work..I’m not crying!!
This was such a good idea and it came out so good! We love a DIY queen ✨
Thanks love!! 😘😘🙏🏾
Hello there. Great job!!! Now, the reason you strip some screws is because you drilled in too fast. You have an impact drill which does just that, it impacts the screw. If you use a regular drill with an adjustable Chuck it will slow the drilling process. Drill a pilot hole and then run the screws slower. Also, you can use cups for rods to hang your clothes.
Also
You might want to find a way to anchor them to your wall, better safe than sorry.
Anywho, you did a great job!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank youuuuuuuuu!!! I have the pax in my ikea cart ($1000). I will definitely do this instead.
Love it! Fiance and I live in a NYC apartment, and we're not planning on staying in our place long enough to justify getting a pax. If we stay for a year or two and only drop $150, way more worth it for me.
You are genuis! On my way to Target before these sell out
Yes the white ones were hard to find!
Maybe you could get billy bookcase from ikea?
This looks so good girl! Pax is always sold out at IKEA so this is another great option!
YES! I have one for one side of my closet but cant finish my walk-in so ill be adding this to my room! I'm so happy I found this
WOW!!! You did an awesome job, everything looks so great. I know you said you made a couple of mistakes, but honestly it's not noticeable unless you point it out. Kudos to you!!!
Girl I dont know were you got this idea ftom, but thank god you did! I have a small extra room, the pax system was way to big. This is small and compact, but efficient enough to hold all of your clothes!!! I have now subscribed to your channel! Thank you!
Yay thank you!!
Crazy because I was just going to post this video of me doing this to my room. I’m so glad someone else thought of it as well though❤️
I really love this. The middle bar is so smart and I will take notes on that. Overall great job!
Thank you!!
My daughters and I are attempting this by ourselves. I hope it turns out great so I can share the results with you. Thank you for filming this video.
AMAZING JOB!!! So glad I came across your video! Perfect depiction of what I had in mind to build my own. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Love it, we actually need a small wardrobe for a newborn and the IKEA Pax is so expensive this dupe is awesome thanks for sharing 😊
Girl swear I told my mom I wanna use book shelves n make my own ikea dupe lol u did that I’m a diy’r too I love this
You really did a great job ! You could use a dresser and then put the bookcase on top of it. But this saves a lot of money.
I used these shelves for my beauty room is well. The pax system is very large and I wanted the space. I love this!!
Thank you!
I wish i knew about this before i had my closet professionally done! Love this video!
Thank you!!! 😘😘🙏🏾
I plan on using a professional cabinet maker to makeover my master closet. In the long run, it'll be worth it using quality material that can stand the test of time.
I have these bookshelves in my office. I found it’s easier to assemble them on the ground then stand them up against the wall.
Agreed!
You did a great job! And all by yourself! I love that you show how challenging these assemblies can be, and the tips you give to help make it easier! New subscriber...
Thanks for watching!!! 🙏🏾❤️
I’m heading out to get my stuff now. I’m in apartment and have a studio type set up. I want to build my closet around my bed area. 😊 can’t wait to finally start this project
OMGoodness get it girl! I love this idea. Smart thinking.
Dropping a comment unlike usual because you did so well!!!! Love this
You could put trim pieces on the front, and next to wall to hide the seems. It will look like a built-in unit. 🥰
Smart I’m gonna try this project and add the trim
Great video! What an inspiration and you have a wonderful dad!
Thank you!
literally just found you due to this video and instantly subscribed. i can only see a peak into you closet and personality from this, but i'm hooked. from one handy chicka to the next, they make electric screw drivers...they are essentially small like a regular screwdriver, but you don't have to twist your hand...only press a button. and way less powerful than a drill. i love mine!! it was only like $10-15 USD. Hopefully it will help when you take these down to move once your lease in the apartment is up.
ps. im using your ideas to create my own custom walk-in closet from an extra bedroom, and will be tagging you!! im so excited! thank you again! xoxo
You did so good! I’m sharing this with my mom she wants to make her whole spare bedroom a walk-in closet so this would look great!
Also the word you were looking for at the end was to drill a “pilot hole”
Yay! Thanks for watching!!
Im scared but this has given me the courage to build my own closet ! I was thinking of spending 800$ for one but I’m so broke and want something more affordable! Wish me luck I will attempt doing this soon!
How did you do?
Beautiful the ones from Walmart they are more sturdy
I saw those also! I just added them as an alternative in my description box! Thank you!!
GENIUS! Wish I'd seen this, before I installed my ELFA system. Their Design program wanted to waste an entire wall, over being short a few inches (6' x 5' x 6'). I overlapped the shelves on top, rather than waste $$$ & space, (a friend gave me most of the system. Spent $180, incl cart).
On one side, have floor to ceiling rails, to install two 12" metal shelves above each other, just above the floor. That will keep purses and shoes in line!
Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you for this! 👏🏼
I love how it turned out! I’m definitely going to try this. Thanks for the upload. 💓💓
Thanks for watching!!
I do NOT have the patience to do this, but I see it would have saved me hundreds of dollars. Beautiful job.
Omg, you are so smaaaart! Thank you so much for this idea! 😭💗
💪🏾 thank you!
so underrated, im glad im here before this blew up
Hello, that was great. Whenever I’m putting anything together like that I also use wood glue or some type of strong bunding. There are also prackets you can get from Lowe’s or Home depot that you can put on the back to help hold them together. Think I’m going to use this in my guest room closet.
Thanks for the tip!!
Can you do a video showing the clothes in the closet..
Yes that video is coming next!
Yes! I wanted to see the complete and staged result, overall good job tho. Totally feel your pain with the IKEA products, I've assembled many a unit and its not easy.
I just posted the update ✨
@@iLoveLeatherNYC just posted ✨
@@Amorantasia1 Ok. Thanks for the heads up, will take a look.
Thank you for posting. Our home has tiny closets, this would work perfect for my bedroom. I would love to put my bags on display.
I am going to do this when I move to a new place! Thanks so much! I was ready to spend $1500 Lol
Ayeee a beautiful crafty project to do for myself and cost efficient, yess inspiring 🙌🏾💖

😂😂 thank you!
Your "Cloffice". Glad UA-cam suggested your video to me. Great job.
Thank you!
I absolutely love this idea! I wanted the same ikea pax closet but did not want to spend the money 💰! I even looked up other brands and still was too much.... but this I can do! Thank you for this alternative 👍🏾
Yayyyyy!! I’m glad that you liked it!
Deff doinqq this to my closetttt 💜💜 tyy bbby !
Thank you for sharing this. I was able to creat my closet using shelves! I used Walmart mainstay shelves
I put one of these book shelves in my linen closet years ago and it’s holding up wellI. Just be careful of how much weight you put on them.... thx for sharing
I love the closet idea it looks good . Please do a reveal of your beauty room once it's complete.
OMGGGG .. This is such a smart idea!, Definitely doing this!
I immediately subscribed to you, I particularly liked this video
You are saving my life right now! ❤️
I literally built shelves 2weeks ago and was stuck with what rods and how to do the rods myself. Thanks so much for the instructions. So helpful
Glad I could help!
I had to like just because you saved 99% with the DIY
This was very nice. I am thinking about doing this as well.
You got me when I seen the bible verse and the budget. I feel we all need to unite together and learn together.
How much i love me a DIY queen 😍
🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
Yay! Its here! Been waiting on this! 👀👂🏾🍿🍷
🙌🏾😘😘
You are so ambitious and are doing a great job!👍🏾
Thanks so much!!
Love this idea! I would add contact paper for a bit of design.
Awesome idea!
This is the video I needed. My kids room has NO CLOSET!!! And those clothing racks suck! Definitely going to target for these. Thank you for sharing. Great idea
This is amazing and the EXACT solution I am looking for!
Great job. Seriously I thought you have to be a strong person to hold the top of the shelf while kicking the bottom around. That was pretty awesome.
Omg this is such a brilliant idea !!
You did a phenomenal job. Thank you for making this video!
Thanks for watching!
You did such a good job!! I wanted to do the Pax in my bedroom and put sliding doors to close the tv up inside of it but now I’m thinking this is the way to go! Thank you sis!!
Thanks I’m glad that you liked it!
Love this! My walk in closet is super long and I’d need these on both sides his n hers $150 would be nice but I guess it’d still be cheaper than the ikea system.
Omg this video is exactly what I needed to see!!!!!! I was going to start working on my walk in closet/ room and I didn’t want to spend lots!!!!
Another option besides drilling holes is using a tension rod and putting liquid nails on each end that should hold some decient weight.
Brilliant idea and well executed 👍🏽❤️
Perfect! My closet is L shaped however it's not an open concept so I need to customize it to make it more efficient.
U r very crafty,i love this
Thank you!
thanks so much for this!!!! excellent ideas!!!!!
This is so awesome and crafty! Love it
Thank you 🙏🏾❤️
Hey girl!!! I’m definitely going to steal this idea
Yay! Go for it! Tag me in your pictures!
This was sooooo helpful! Thanks so much for sharing 🙌🏽
Thanks for sharing! This is exactly what I was looking forward
This is such a great idea!! I will definitely be trying this.
Thank you!
Watching this and hearing how much trouble you went through is pretty funny. I remember doing stuff like this for my sister and she would tell me why is it taking so long LMAO
It's so much fun watching someone who is not mechanically inclined, struggle to build something. 😆 Also, kind of painful. 😩
Yes I’m in the process of doing the same with my closet. I went to target and got bookcases for $30 lol
Yessss!!
Can you show how it looks when u have ur stuff in them please I love this idea 🙌
I just posted it!
Omg !! Thank you so so much! After seeing you do this - just absolutely amazing! And I live alone… so I know I can do it too!!! Yay!! I wanna start right now but the store is closed !
You are great you made me feel like I could do my closet as well thank you so much I think I am going to try and add a chest of drawers in somewhere what is the order number for this units
Thank you for this i will try it as soon as I move I'm excited for the finish project be already exhausted to put it together 😫
😂💪🏾
Great DIY project and it will help with saving on furniture expenditures 🙂👍
If you use an electric drill to assemble these bookcases, then make sure you put the tension low (I usually set it around 5) so it won't strip your screw heads.
This looks really good! I want to try something like it.
Wow great idea. Only thing I woulda done different is take the baseboard out so it can be more flush against the wall. But honestly I love the bookshelf idea. Wood is crazy expensive. You just saved me a lotta money! Thank you!
Thank you!!! 💪🏾
Yes girl thank you cause I live in an apt too and definitely will want until I buy a house to get that instead!
you did that! super creative
You did such an excellent job girl! I actually just purchased the IKEA Pax system a couple hours ago and now I'm like 🤔 lol This looks good!
Thank you!!
