Linda, I have read about gifts of the Spirit and I truly feel that your gift is hospitality! Love your channel as you generously share your gifts with us.
I love, love that cute linen dress. color looks spectacular on you as most things do anyway great informative program today. we used to make May Day baskets in school ( mid 50's ) out of construction paper. Some times woven , other time shaped into a cone , then in the way home from school, Violets. Dandelions ,Daffodils whatever was in bloom would go inside. I don't think the neighbors ever would mind, it was just the thing to do on May Day. Then find that special neighbor on the way home attach it to the door then run. Miss that so much , so what a happy video pertaining to this. I live way out in the country so no neighbors , so I'll hop in my car & make the rounds. thanks to help us older people reminisce.
I love the thrifted items you put to good(and attractive) use! I just about fell off my chair when you mentioned the knock and run flower delivery! I’ve never known anyone else who did that! My late sister and I did that for our favorite neighbors, we would pick whatever pretty blooms we could find and wrap them in ribbon and then ring the doorbell after placing the flowers someplace obvious and then hide so we could see their reaction. Such a wonderful memory of my sister each May Day.. 🌿💐🌱🌷🌿🌹🪴💐
Love the mini Bolga Basket with the leather wrapped handle from Northern Ghana. I also love thrifting for garden art and for special floral arrangements! It's amazing what you can find and re-purpose. I recently found a pair of wrought iron children's garden chairs that are now repainted and placed within my garden as plant stands for my potted plants. Thank you Linda for the ideas! Love this!
I found a dolls wood high chair curbside painted it white and put it in my garden with a plant on top. Fun thing to do! But the wrought iron is more durable.
Linda, I love the child in you, dandelions in a small pitcher to gift, love it! This time of year, I cut off any branch I can get my hands on and put it in a vase, the newly emerging leaves and the structure of the branches are just beautiful!
Really enjoyed this episode, because thrifting and gardening are my two favorite things. I love the Africa bolga basket. I bought an assortment of $1 pots of spring bulbs, little purple iris, mini yellow daffodils and grape hyacinths. They would look amazing tucked in it. Thank you both for the wonderful videos you make!
What beautiful ideas! I love both gardening and thrifting. My 76th birthday is this week, and my family and friends are giving me two separate parties. I am now inspired to make gifts like this for each person for MY birthday! Can't think of many things more joyful than sharing and giving. Thank you!
Nobody can make a little “house dress” look so good. Absolutely gorgeous. I used to dress that way but got out of the habit. So much better than pjs all day. Thanks Linda.
I love May Day gifts, particularly for friends who are dealing with troubles and need an unexpected pick-me-up. My favorite way to create these is to buy pretty and inexpensive floral teacups and matching saucers (if available) in thrift stores and fill them with pansies or violets or other small spring flowers. I have also bought college mugs and put a small plant (maybe a succulent) in its plastic pot inside - a fun gift for a college student or the proud parent or grandparent thereof!
You're a really very caring person, so special, thinking of others. It inspires me to look for things myself & give cuttings/flowers to others. When anyone admires something in my garden I also give a cutting, but it would be nicer to present it in something unique.
Loved all your ideas but my favorites are the metal box and the sea grass basket. I have several similar things lying around and think I will go out and cut some flowers and foliage. Love the idea of using new growth clippings and volunteer seedlings.
These are so pretty. Love these ideas. I have boo koos of ferns in my yard. A friend gave me a start years ago. They have spread like wild fire, but I love them. I will probably use cuttings from these to make an arrangement for my mom. Thanks for the ideas.
DEAR LINDA YOUR FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE SO FRESH A PRETTY, THAT YOU ENCOURAGE US TO DO SOMETHING NICE WITH FLOWERS. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SHOWS, I AM YOUR FAN # 1.
What lovely and thoughtful ideas to celebrate your friends! I loved so many of these creative ideas. To give a gift of flowers from your own garden is such a sweet gift. Happy May Day!
Sheila McDade in Chattanooga, TN here . . . I loved all your arrangements! I entertain 8 guests every Sunday after morning worship and go all out decorating my table; you have given me some wonderful ideas! As for THE QUESTION OF THE DAY . . . I like to give an arrangement of cuttings from my Golden Acuba bush in large containers. The cuttings will last months and months if water is kept in the vase and they will root and can be planted in your garden. You are tireless; always involved in another project . . . take care of yourself, you look like you are losing weight and you don't have any to lose!
a Nebraska linda. I appreciate how the low basket changes the mood of that huge pot. It moves it to "informal" I have a low basket that is a lazy susan and I've put an old metal kettle in it with 4 begonia's; I can spin it to change the amount of sun each flower is getting through the filtering tree leaves! These videos help me shop my own house and brain storm. Thanks.
I use Lilly of the valley flowers in my small vases and put them in my bathroom. Also, house dresses need a comeback. I love them. My mother wore them all the time, and she looked so pretty.
The stores are full of house dress style garments right now. I’ve even seen them at Walmart and Target, its called cottage core look I believe. Just look around. Aprons are in that mix also.
Your garden is beautiful! Would love for you to talk about your azaleas. Glad you took time to do a Wednesday walk about with us! Thank you so much. Enjoy all your videos.
I have a case of Columbine envy… Pretty dress and apron ensemble. I’m going to put together an arrangement for Mother’s Day, now that you’ve inspired me!
I absolutely love the carnation arrangements, although that last arrangement in the basket is gorgeous. I love the idea of May Day, and YES - bring back the "house dress!" 🥰
I love all the items you found. That clear cylinder with the wire gave me an idea of making my own with some weathered chicken wire I have out in the yard. I can't wait to do it tomorrow. Happy May Day and thanks for sharing.
I love thrifting planters, mugs, creamers, etc. to fill with my succulents and gift to family and friends. I also take them to my office to decorate the lobby and give to clients. 🥰
Such a fun & wonderful video! I love your thrifting ones. You gave me ideas for using some fun baskets I already own. I also love using little pitchers for arrangements. I loved all your flower arrangements but the one in the metal box is my favorite. It showed off the beautiful carnations & greenery so well!
I've always loved how the Italian women wear easy, relatively modest dresses during the day. Of course it's much warmer there! They are hard to find, for some reason.
You look lovely today Linda! I cut some branches of lilac that is just coming into bloom and arranged them in a tall vase and also found a small jar and made a posy with shasta daisies, some honeysuckle and a few green branches from my front yard hedge (lonicera nitida) for my disabled hubs 🌿💐🌸
I paused the video, grabbed a sweet, small, crystal vase and a pair of scissors and steeped outside into my flower garden and snippet off a few red roses, some greenery, and a few deep purple Japanese irises in that crystal vase and it it on my kitchen island! Thanks for the inspiration Linda!
I would put my red & pink ever-blooming roses into the many extra vases I have around my home to gift. Love the little basket with the handle attached.
I don’t know if it was the morning light Linda but the dress and it’s shade of green enhances your skin and the colour of your hair, just lovely. Maybe green is just a great colour for you! I loved the arrangement of stocks the best also.
I love tiny baskets and small pitchers. Currently, I would just use greenery like cuttings from my boxwoods and evergreens. I don’t seem to have that many flowers blooming this spring yet. Definitely would give to my neighbors.
Love your thrift store finds and foliage arrangements. I've been a thrifter forever, my mentor was my mom who had to raise five children by herself after my father was killed in an accident when I was a child. She could find anything. I think I have inherited her eye. For your QOTD, I am in PNW with plants just beginning their growth cycle. My go-to year round is the blue spruce in front of my house, the privacy border arborvitae with its more delicate foliage, and a little nandina with their pops of red berries. Plus whatever evergreens I can scrounge on the ground of different varieties that are on my walks. They always look natural and fresh. As you always say, Use what you have.
Beautiful arrangements - my favorite is the last basket with the purple flowers. Stay hydrated - 5 sips per drink :) as it sounds like you might have a cold.
I like to save glass spice jars and my daughter and I use them for mini May Day bouquets each year, they are small enough that even if flowers are still scarce in the garden, we can manage to fill them with violets and things. We tie jute twine around the tops so they can hang from a doorknob if no one is home. I always enjoy your thrifting videos!
Love love this so much! Love the thrift store finds and new purpose for them. And I absolutely love your flower arranging skill, such beautiful bouquets in your home. Another great video, thank you!
I love the Bolga basket and the little green vase. I would fill the vase with English bluebells and bleeding hearts from my garden. Love the house dress 🌸
Loved the added “ outfit d’jour”! Such a great idea. I wear these baggy shorts and T-shirts and a house dress would be so much more appropriate if someone were to stop by or if someone were to walk by and wave at me and they wouldn’t see me in my shorts, T-shirt and a pair of knee socks! 🤭😲😱
Oh Linda those are beautiful flowers and containers. You are so giving and thoughtful. You definitely know how to find beautiful thrifted items and use them elegantly. Could not pick out a favorite container. Love how you use clippings from shrubs in your yard with the flower stems. Have a house dress my Mom use to wear, and days when it is extremely hot (summer in NCZ8A), will come in, shower and put the dress on. ❤️
This time of year, I love to use clippings of my pink Sonic Boom Weigela. They spill over the edge of any container beautifully. I take from the back so I don’t leave a hole in the shrub. Love all your ideas but that little green pitcher was my standout. Adorable!🥰
We still have lots of kids doing May Day baskets here in my area of Nebraska. Usually May 1st seems to fall right after the bulbs have finished and right before the perennials have started so usually kids will fill baskets with candy, popcorn, or homemade sweets. I have a bumper crop of dandelions and henbit I could pick. :) I don’t think my other specialty, wild violets, would last long in a vase.
Great idea’s. 💕my gift would be in a cute little basket with Rosemary, basil, & Mint. It would be great to sit on a table on a porch or a veranda. Sending hugs prayers and kindness with lots of smiles 🌸💗💐
You are so good with your bouquet all of them are beautiful with your goodwill finds. I don’t have anything to gift but will keep my eyes open in the future. I hope you video your book signing day so we can see from SoCal.
Just found you and love your video, your voice, your ideas, your descriptions, all of it. I could smell that wonderful purple stock ! I will for sure be following you ! Thank you !

Lilly of the Valley in a vase my grandmother put it in and this year my wisteria only has 2 sprigs of blooms so I am bringing it into my kitchen to enjoy. Your book is fabulous. And the photographs are reach out and touch.
Here in zone 5 the only thing I have right now is daffodils. But I love them. I put a few in really small milk glass vases. Also, I wear cotton dresses nonstop from June- August!
Linda, I have read about gifts of the Spirit and I truly feel that your gift is hospitality! Love your channel as you generously share your gifts with us.

I love doing this, but it’s not as fun with the Ring doorbell.
@@gaillam9574 Lol so true!!
I wish I was your Neighbor/friend - what a beautiful gesture for May Day

I got the same basket in Burkina Faso ❤
Linda, you made me smile when you said "maybe leave this on the doorknob and ring the doorbell and run." So sweet.
That’s funny. I was thinking I would probably end up hurting myself trying to get away.!😂
Linda, I love the child in you, dandelions in a small pitcher to gift, love it! This time of year, I cut off any branch I can get my hands on and put it in a vase, the newly emerging leaves and the structure of the branches are just beautiful!

Those May day planters filled with beautiful flowers will definitely be something to cherish. You are a rare gem Linda. Have a blessed evening.
I garden in my backyard in my gown or pjs quite often. It is very private and I love doing that!
My beautiful mother loved wearing house dresses. I miss her.❤️ All your flower arrangements’ are exquisite. HAPPY MAY DAY.🌞💐
